58. Entry 58: The Crystal Temps

While the Crystal Gems were off-world to rescue Greg, they didn't leave Beach City unprotected. They left it in the hands of some of their friends: Connie, Peridot, Lapis, and a living pumpkin that they called Pumpkin (obviously must have been brought to life by Steven's life-giving powers). When these four were given the job to watch over Beach City, they believed the best way to do the Crystal Gems' jobs is to be exactly like them and fill their roles. Since Connie was a human, she started to act like Steven, Peridot was pretending to be Garnet because of her bossiness, and Lapis was pretending to be Amethyst (for whatever reason I cannot explain). That left Pumpkin, by default, as Pearl. At first, they did a good job taking over Greg's car-washing business, but the next day, they were so dedicated to impersonate the Crystal Gems, they did a horrible job. They then realized they needed to be themselves to be a good team, not by acting just like the people they were substituting for. And so, the Crystal Temps was formed. I can't help but think if maybe I could be a Crystal Temp one day if I ever bring myself to meet them.
