*Entry #69: The Founders of Beach City
Well, it seems that Steven is going through some personal changes in his life in the fallout of the alien abduction. But this may be my chance to get in close. I've never gotten a good glance at the Crystal Gems' connection with Beach City, but I've recently gotten a glimpse into their past. While the town gathered for an election, I sneaked my way into the library. It was there that I found a journal that belonged to an explorer named Buddy Buddwick. According to the journal, he was the first mate of Dewey's great-great-great-great grandfather, Captain William Dewey. Two hundred years ago, Captain Dewey's ship came across the Crystal Gems telling them to turn around and that the land isn't safe for humans. The ship was drifted until it came across a violent storm and a corrupted Gem. Thankfully, the Crystal Gems came through with a fusion that was made up of every last one of them (still trying to learn more about that one). The fusion brought the ship to shore and the crew decided to make their land there. Since then, the humans and Gems have been living adjacent to each other trying not to interfere with one another. However, that wasn't the end of the story. According to this journal, Buddy Buddwick wanted to make a name for himself by exploring for new lands. He kept getting frustrated that he was only finding places that were already discovered, but he was eventually content with writing about those places making them seem special once again. In some ways, I think Buddy and I are somewhat alike. Well, it looks like the election's over (somehow with Nanefua Pizza as the new mayor), so I had better go. But not without taking some pictures of these pages for reference. You never know when some of these might be useful these days.
