Spirits Bay Part 3: The burning Crystal
A day later after the stirring events at Coven Harbor in Bonesborough. The Mystery Trio sat with Luz and Amity at headquarters. Gus and Willow wanted to take a little break. The recent excitement was a bit too much for them. Actually, Amity wanted to stay at home today, but she also did not want to leave her friend alone with the boys. James sat as usual on the chair in front of the desk and the others on the two couches. Luz had put her head on Amity's lap while Amity scrolled on Penstagram with her scroll.
James: Guys! We need to discuss how to proceed now.
Rob: I don't think I'm hearing you right, James. The only thing left to do with this case is to file it away. File it, bag it, put it away and forget it.
Amity: Rob is right, what we have experienced lately was really not normal.
Rob: Yeah! You may not mind that several people have just gone down with a ship, but I do.
Luz: (quiet) Me too…
James: (sighs) They were not on board.
Amity: What?
Matt: Huh? You... t... t... they... they weren't on board? But w... w... we saw how the white...
James: (interrupts) The Leviathan must have been pretty well guarded, and as a former member of the coven, Ishmael must have known that. He must have set a trap for Smith, Taylor, and Angelica.
Luz: Hm! Well, all this would be cleared up if we could talk to Ishmael.
James: Yes! But I can't reach him on scroll. So we should continue to concentrate on finding the star of Kerral.
Matt: But... But wait a minute! If the Leviathan has been gutted, then the stone is probably no longer on board. Ishmael has probably already taken it out and hidden it somewhere else.
Amity: Why would he have given us the clue to the ship if the trail was wrong? Somewhere on board the plane carrier there must be something that can help us.
James: Yeah, yeah! Exactly!
Rob: Great! Tz! So he wanted to lure us into a mined death trap.
James: No! I think he wanted to help us get on board before it got dangerous. But then Smith and his henchmen came first.
Suddenly, the five teens saw the door being opened from the roof of the headquarters.
Luz: Tell me what's... what's going on up there on the roof?
Matt: Up there in the hatch.
James: Gerro!
Gerro: Here you are! I heard you talk, but I couldn't find you anywhere. Ha, man, is that a great hiding place. Uh, can I come in?
James: No! Wait for us at the plane! We'll get out.
Gerro: Alright...
Gerro went to the plane.
Amity: (laughs) That's the guy who stole the Receipt from you?
Matt: Yeah...
The five went outside to Gerro.
Gerro: Hey! I don't know the two of you yet, I'm Gerro.
Luz: Luz.
Amity: Amity.
Gerro: I found something. (Plastic rustles) Here!
Matt: A model plane. So what?
Gerro: Well, there's a key in there.
James: Aha!
Rob: A key? Where?
Gerro: Extremely well hidden. Look! Behind this flap.
Rob: Oh!
Gerro: You can have it.
James: Thank you!
Luz: But where did you get the plane from?
Gerro: That's the strange thing. I was at my grandfather's house again. Suddenly, a car came. It held and a man got out. He went to the fence and just threw the box into the garden.
James: Oh!
Gerro: Then he drove away again.
Amity: And then?
Gerro: In the box were many model planes.
Rob: Oh!
Gerro: Also this one. Look! This is an exact miniature version of the real plane from my grandpa.
James: Hm!
Gerro: I thought you might be interested.
James: Mhm, very good Gerro! Um, did you know the man?
Gerro: Yes, it was the son of Potion Coven Head Amphilius Fisher. Curtis Fisher.
Amity: Curtis Fisher?!
Rob: (whispers) Curtis Fisher.
James: Another Fisher. So Curtis was the one who stole the box from Mister Shreber's house.
Gerro: Um, uh, tell me, your hiding place under that pile of junk there, um... uh, can I take a look?
Rob: Oh, we don't like to let strangers into our headquarters Gerro. Sorry!
Gerro: But I also helped you and gave you the key!
Matt: That also honors you very much Gerry, but... but the headquarters is secret and should remain so. Luz and Amity and two others have never been in there either, except for a few days ago. But that was also an emergency.
Gerro: That's great! Then do your work yourself in the future. Typical Hexsiders! Idiots!
Furious, Gerro stomped away from the junkyard.
Amity: Such a prick!
Luz: Yeah…
Rob: What was that now? Is he dumb?
James: Let's not worry about it guys.
Matt: Hm!
James: Destiny has put a key in our hands and I wonder if it will lead us to the sapphire.
Rob: Have you forgotten James that the stone is now lying in the boiling sea? In a gigantic ship that was torn apart by several explosions?
James: Not at all! But do not worry, we dive together
Luz: Huh? But…
Matt: Diving? Have you gone completely insane? Then dive into the BOILING Sea if you like that.
James: Yes, what else? Of course it is strictly forbidden in the first few days after the sinking because the swirled up sand has to settle first. But in a few days it should be completely safe to look at these leviathans up close.
Matt: Dude, you still don't get it, we can't dive in the sea if it's going to give us burns after all.
Amity: I can help you guys. My father has made a new invention regarding abomination suits that if you fall or dive into the boiling sea you won't get burned. He mixed the abomination with I think with a material. And I could take enough with me so we could go diving.
James: See, guys. Problem solved.
Luz: Alright, lets go diving!
XXX
That afternoon, James, Matt and Rob's grandfather called at the headquarters and told the five teens that his Hexes Hold'em friend Mister Castro knew something about the mysterious John Fisher. Just an hour later, the five were met by Mister Castro in his humble living room.
Mister Castro: Ah, come on in then!
Hole group: Thanks!
The five teens made themselves comfortable on the couch in Mister Castro's living room. While the old man sat down on the armchair in front of them.
Castro: Sit down! So you want to know about John Fisher?
James: Yeah!
Castro: Yes,... (coughs) Harry Shreber and Fisher were stationed together in Spellstorm. Well, they weren't exactly friends.
Rob: Aha.
Castro: I think there was an argument about a woman. Fisher died some time after his return from Spellstorm in a Palisman accident. Well, it's no wonder. He was drunk all the time.
Amity: Aha!
Castro: That wasn't all, though. Harry said at one point that he and Fisher owed someone something, and it didn't sound like our usual gambling debts at Hexes Hold'em. It was something more serious, and Harry sounded very glum.
James: Uh, uh, can I show you this photo? Do you know any of these people?
James showed Castro the Hexes Hold'em photo they had found on the plane. Castro looked at it briefly.
Castro: Mh, a Hexes Hold'em round. Yes, this... (taps photo) is Harry. And this is one of his coven buddies. What was his name? Manners... Man... no... Marten... no... no... Maruthers!
Rob: What?
Castro: Yes, that was the name. Maruthers! I don't know the third man, and neither does the lady.
Luz: Uh, her name was, uh, Anudhara.
Castro: Ah, beautiful woman. Yes, perhaps she was the cause of the quarrel. But it was all so long ago. I don't think you can find out anything anymore.
James: We have already found out some things. By the way, are you familiar with the Star of Kerral?
Castro: Please what? No, uh, what is that?
Amity: Uh, this is a famous gem from a rich witch from Spellstorm.
Castro: Never heard of it! Is there anything else I can help you with?
James: (sighs) No, that's all. You've already helped us a lot. Thank you very much.
Castro: You're welcome! Uh, one more thing!
Matt: Yeah?
Castro: When you boys see your grandpa, please remind him that he still owes me a payback.
Matt: (laughs) Yes! Yes, I will, uh, Mister Castro. Goodbye!
Castro: Bye kids!
Mister Castro took the five teens outside and closed his door.
Matt: (laughs) Tz!
Rob: I don't believe it guys! Maruthers, the late pawnbroker.
Amity: Well…
Rob: How does he fit into the story now?
James: We will only find out if we talk to his widow again. Come on guys!
XXX
The five teens stood outside the door of Misses Maruthers and rang the bell. After some time she came and opened the door. She looked unsettled by the visit of the teens.
Misses Maruthers: Huh? You guys again? What do you want? I've already told you everything.
James: Uh, we just have a few more questions madam.
Maruthers: Oh, yeah? And what do you want to know?
James: Can you tell us what you or your husband knew about Harry Shreber and a red sapphire?
Maruthers: Oh! (sighs) All right, come on in!
Misses Maruthers let the five in. And took them to the living room. The five sat down on the couch and Maruthers took a chair and sat down.
Maruthers: I... I never had anything to do with the cursed stone. But my... (sobs) my husband and... (crying)...
Luz felt uncomfortable, every time someone cried she almost started crying too.
James: Please…please tell us! By the stone, you mean the star of Kerral, don't you?
Maruthers: Yes! I mean the burning crystal that... that ruined our lives. The stone is cursed.
Luz: Cursed? What do you mean?
Maruthers: Oh, I only know what my husband told me, that Fisher won the stone at Hexes Hold'em.
Rob: Won? And... and... and then?
Maruthers: I don't know the exact details. All I know is that my husband, Fisher and Harry Shreber were suddenly being followed constantly.
Amity: And then?
Maruthers: After he came home from Spellstorm my husband and opened the pawnshop. And one day Fisher has come to him.
James: Hm!
Maruthers: He wanted to borrow snails from him to pay for a trip to Spellstorm.
James: Aha!
Maruthers: Yes! But my husband wouldn't give him snails. (laughing) Ha, that drunkard would never have paid him back. That's why he only gave him snails for the pilot's watch as collateral.
Rob: Mhm! And what happened then?
Maruthers: Well, my husband told me later that Fisher had been very anxious during the conversation.
Luz: Mhm.
Maruthers: Well, he felt pursued and said: (quoted) "She is after me! If I'm suddenly dead someday, it was her, her and that cursed stone!"
Amity: What?
Maruthers: Then Fisher drove off and a week later we heard that he had had a Palisman accident.
Rob: No!
Maruthers: Yes! And then...
Amity: (interrupts) Wait a minute! Um, by "her" he meant Anudhara?
Maruthers: Anudhara?
Amity: Yeah!
Maruthers: Uh, oh, I don't know exactly. Anyway, my husband got sick. The Healing Coven could not help him. Nobody knew what it was. Only we did. It was the curse of the stone. Anyone who came in contact with it had to die. And so it did.
James: Hm!
Maruthers: My husband died.
Luz: Did he ever touch the stone?
Maruthers: Yes, unfortunately! Fisher, Mister Shreber and my husband swore over that stone that they would never tell anyone the treasure's hiding place. And that killed them all.
Matt: Yes, but... But, but, but... but Mr. Shreber died of natural causes.
Maruthers: (laughs) Is that what they told you?
Matt: Yeah!
Maruthers: But I talked to Mr. Mason, his secretary. He found Shreber, you know. And he says Harry's face was all distorted...
James: Huh?
Maruthers: ...as if he had...
Luz: Yeah?
Maruthers: ...saw something horrible. And the shock of it killed him.
XXX
On Wednesday the three detectives and Luz, Amity, Willow and Gus went to Bonesborough harbor, James told Gus and Willow a day before what she had found out without the two, the adventure fever has grabbed them and they wanted to get back into the action. The diving action could begin, Amity had taken all Abomination suits in order not to burn. At the tourist harbor they got out and went to the quay to rent a boat. Suddenly, footsteps approached.
Matt: Ishmael!
Gus: What do you...
Nat: (interrupts) I would appreciate it if you would stop calling me that now. My real name is Nathan Holbone. Just call me Nat!
Luz: Okay!
Nat: Come on my boat!
Willow: But we wanted to...
Nat: (interrupts) We have a lot to talk about.
James: All right, guys come on!
The seven teens boarded Nat's larger boat. And Nat drove off
Matt: You seem to have been expecting us Ishmae... uh, I mean Nat.
Nat: Indeed! Tell me, how did you actually manage to free yourselves from my cellar?
James: Thats a long story.
Nat bootboat, was called the "Rachel's Daylight" all eight went into the cabin. Nat put his boat down and the boat stopped. In the cabin, everyone sat down.
Nat: You guys want a drink?
Hole group: No thanks!
Nat: So. listen up! You probably know by now about about the crown treasure of the rich witch of Kerral, which was stolen from him over thirty years ago.
Luz: Uh, yeah, that's right!
Nat: What you may not know is that the witch named Anudhara belonged to an organization of Spellstorm. Their task was to solve this case. The organization worked closely with the coven and Belos.
Matt: What?
Rob: Oh!
Nat: Yes! Individual pieces of the treasure had turned up in the gambling parlors of Cochin and she was to find out where they came from.
Willow: Aha!
Nat: Yes, since the stones were always in the possession of Coven Guards from Bonesborough, she of course searched near them.
Amity: Aha.
Nat: Well, and one night she got lucky and ran into a Coven Guard named John Fisher who had been stationed in Cochin for two years.
Gus: And then?
Nat: He fell in love with the woman and occasionally took her to his rounds of Hexes Hold'em.
James: Aha!
Nat: Um, that's where she met his friends Harry Shreber and Samuel Maruthers. During one of these games, Fisher gambled the star of Kerral.
Amity: What?
Nat: Anudhara gambled all her possessions against it...
Rob: Insane!
Nat: ...and won. But she had not only played for the stone, but also for Fisher to tell her where he got it.
Luz: And then?!
Nat: Fisher told her that he had found the Star of Kerral and other gems in a temple in the interior.
Matt: Mhm!
Nat: Anudhara now urged him to go there together with her. Shreber and Maruthers came along. Once there, Fisher showed them the hiding place. And then Anudhara revealed herself as an agent of the organization.
Matt: Oh, oh!
Nat: You said it Matt! Fisher went into a rage, knowing that the organization was working with Belos, and that they would be punished! He took the sapphire from Anudhara and pushed the woman into a deep crack in the ground in front of his friends.
Willow: No!
Nat: Yes! Shreber and Maruthers thought about what to do now. They felt like complicit and were afraid to talk to the coven. But to hedge their bets, they demanded that Fisher admit that he alone was responsible for the incident.
Rob: Hm! Well, I can understand that. And then?
Nat: From a mechanic friend of the Leviathan, the three friends got a small safe. They put the sealed confession and the sapphire inside and paid the mechanic to hide the safe somewhere deep in the hull of the ship.
Luz: Crazy!
Nat: Yes, and he did it.
James: And that mechanic was you.
Nat: (takes a deep breath) To be on the safe side, I welded the safe to a steel beam. Shreber and Maruthers wanted to leave everything to a kind of divine judgment. If the Leviathan was sunk, the secret would be preserved.
James: Aha!
Nat: But if they returned to Bonesborough in one piece, they could still think about what to do.
Gus: What a story!
Nat: Mh, Fisher agreed. All he cared about was getting his head out of the noose.
Matt: So, well, slowly I can hardly follow this never-ending story.
Nat: A few months later, the pilots received awards, valuable pilot wristwatches and all that.
Rob: Oh!
Nat: And that day I gave each of the three a part of the combination for the safe. After that I heard nothing for a long time until Harry Shreber told me that Fisher had been killed in an accident. Shreber and Maruthers decided not to touch the safe or its contents. And I, uh, was to forget the whole story.
Amity: But you didn't, did you?
Nat: For a few years we all pretended that this treasure didn't exist. But then Harry's wife and daughter died and soon after Maruthers became sick and died too.
James: Aha!
Nat: Harry got scared.
Willow: Undestandable.
Nat: He got it into his head that the star of Kerral was cursed. And when I laughed at him for it, he yelled at me. Only shortly before his death did I receive a letter in which he told me the whole story, claiming that he was being pursued by a vengeful ghost named Rashura, whom Anudhara had sent after him. Yes, and then he died.
Matt: Creepy!
Nat: Finally, I heard that Harry had commissioned you boys, in his will to search for the Star of Kerral.
Gus: Hm.
Willow: Yes, and w... what was the point of, uh, d... this little game with Ishmael, Moby Dick and so on?
Nat: Oh that! (laughs) That was an old game between us because I was the youngest member on Leviathan, just like Ishmael on Pequod.
Rob: Ohh!
Nat: Yeah, for fun Harry once called me Ishmael and the name stuck with me. Fisher was called Ahab, by the way.
Rob: So that's why you introduced yourself as Ishmael.
Nat: Yes, exactly! After I found out about the will and knew that Harry had hired you guys as detectives...
James: (interrupts) Wait a minute, wait a minute! How did you know?
Nat: From Gerro!
James: Aha.
Nat: I know him quite well.
Matt: (laughs) Oh, what?
Nat: Mhm! I gave you the tip with the note at the beginning and instructed Gerro to take it from you. We both thought that you would give up right away. (Gus laughs)
James: Hm, well! Uh, Nat! Am I correct in assuming that you lured Smith, Taylor, and Angelica here to be picked up by the coven's harbor patrol?
Nat: Indeed! (laughs) It was quite simple. I let them go as far as the Leviathan and then jumped into the boat when the coven guard boat came. The Coastal Coven Guard fished me out, arrested the three, questioned me and, um, sent me away again.
Willow: And where are the three now?
Nat: Probably in the Conformatorium. In any case, we've got rid of them for now.
Luz: Hm, well, there is still Rashura.
Matt: Yeah!
Nat: And he is a dangerous witch. Smith and his people work for him, but they don't know who he is. I learned that much from Smith and Taylor on the trip. Rashura wants the treasure and he will stop at nothing to achieve his goal.
Gus: And why do you help us?
Nat: Because I want to put Rashura behind bars.
Rob: Aha!
Nat: I don't know much about him, but I know he killed my friend Harry Shreber. And I'll get him for that, even if it's the last thing I do.
James: All right! That's why you're taking us to the Leviathan, so we can dive there?
Nat: I intend to, yes! (sighs) Get this stone out of the safe, kids, and then there will finally be peace.
XXX
The seven teens slipped into their Abomination diving suits and shouldered the breath Potion. Meanwhile, Nat steered his boat out of the harbor. Suddenly, the third detective pointed to a white sailing yacht that was slowly approaching.
Rob: Hey! Hey, look back there!
Amity: The yacht? What about it?
Rob: Yes, maybe I'm wrong, but the white yacht on which Angelica gave me the poison, it looked very similar to this.
James: Do you know what the name was?
Rob: No! When they brought me ashore, it was too far away, so I couldn't read the name. Strange.
James: It could also be a coincidence.
Gus: Oh! I thought the smart master detective James does not believe in coincidences.
James: (blushing) I don`t!
Luz: Ah! Now you can read the name. (reads) "Ruby"!
Matt: Yes, but Smith and Co can't be. They are in the conformatorium.
Nat: (driving) We're here! Welcome to the Spirits Bay.
Matt: What?
Nat: Spirits Bay!
Rob: (quiet) Matt!
Nat: Don't look at me like that! I didn't give her the name. Let's look at the card again guys!
James: Yes!
Nat: Here! We are now almost exactly above the Leviathan.
Matt: Aha.
Nat: I welded the safe in the rear at that time.
Willow: Yeah?
Nat: So, um, pretty much exactly... (taps Map) Here!
Rob: Yeah!
Nat: Yes! Even after gutting, there are still some rooms and chambers, all of which are of course flooded.
James: Mhm!
Nat: The steel doors are open. You swim here through the hole in the outer shell dive through the three chambers and then a door leads to the left.
Rob: Okay!
Nat: Behind it you will find the safe. It is quite deep inside the ship, so the explosions should not have damaged it.
James: If no one has removed it before.
Nat: Yes, I have attached it in such a way that it looks as if it belongs to the steel beam.
Luz: Aha!
Nat: (sighs) I should dive myself. I don't like that you go down there alone.
Rob: Oh, we can do that. We are not beginners.
Matt: Exactly! (laughs)
James: Yes! Now we only need the third combination for the safe. We only have the two of Fisher and Shreber, but not those of Maruthers.
Amity: How? We... we have the combinations? Where from?
James: Mr. Shreber's letter to us said: (quoted) "One, colon, ninety-eight, seventy-seven, seventy-four." And on the note in Mister Fisher's pilot's watch was written: (quoted) "Two, colon, fifty-five, forty-three, eighty-nine."
Willow: Huh?
James: These are the combinations. Only the third, that of Maruthers, is missing.
Gus: Not bad, J!
James: J?
Nat: That's really remarkable. Here, all three combinations are sealed in not burning plastic. Who knows if you can still rely on your memory so precisely in the depths of the sea. (Plastic crackles)
James: Thank you! I would say we're ready, right?
Luz: All right!
Matt: So, from me it can start.
Gus: Yep.
Willow: I`m ready.
Amity: Me too!
Nat: Good luck!
Hole group: Thank you!
The seven drank their oxygen potion and pulled the last pieces of the abomination suit. All seven now looked like abominations. They jumped into the water. At first they were afraid that they would burn but nothing happened. Under water it was as grey and desolate as above it. Twenty meters below them towered a gigantic mass of steel, the rear of the Leviathan. The three detectives and Luz, Amity, Willow and Gus turned on their lights and swam to the ship. Soon they recognized the hole in the outer shell that Nat had spoken of. It was big like a garage door. Behind it was a small room whose door was open. They dived in. We went deeper and deeper into the wreck. A baramumer a demon fish floated motionless in a corner. But the fish did not move... and seemed to be just watching the seven. Two rooms away they found the safe. It hung like a square swallow's nest at a height of about three meters on a steel beam, as Nat had described. James carefully turned the number disc and set the combination. The door opened. The first detective reached in and pulled out a fireproof leather bag and an envelope in a fireproof plastic bag, which he immediately pushed under his abomination neoprene jacket. Then he dived back to Rob and Matt, Luz, Gus, Amity and Willow and opened the bag in the glow of their lamps. In it lay a plum-sized golden-red stone, the facets of which captured the light of the diving lights and turned the water around it into pure fire. They had found the star of Kerral. Suddenly, a diver slid from behind at lightning speed and grabbed the stone. The seven drove around and saw two more harpoon-armed divers with the same suit as the teens'. While one diver made off with the sapphire, the other two kept the seven at bay with weapons drawn. Then they unexpectedly turned back and disappeared into the murky. It took a few seconds for the seven teens to break out of their rigidity. But then they also started the way back to the water surface. They dived upwards.
James: (out of breath) So those were the people of Rashura.
Gus: Where is the boat?
Matt: What?
Rob: (stammers) What? That can...
Luz: (calls) NAT?!
Amity: That can`t be!
Matt: (calls) Nat!
Rob: The guy has run away with the boat!
Matt: Look at the sky!
The seven teenagers saw the sky darkened, it looked like it would soon start raining.
James: We have to swim ashore.
Willow: That is not possible.
Matt: That is far too far away. And even if we made it to the coast, the waves would smash us onto the rocks. If i only listened to mum.
Rob: Why? What did she say?
Matt: I don't know, I didn't listen to her.
Luz: Come on! I would say we swim... let's swim to the buoy there!
The seven teens swam to the buoy and held on there.
James: We must read the letter before it completely softens.
Gus: Okay, then read already!
James: Listen guys! (reads already) "I, John Benjamin Fisher, of Bonesborough, Boiling Isles, hereby declare that I am solely responsible for the unfortunate incident on..." Hm, this is where it gets illegible. "... Anudhara overthrown... Love of my life... my friends Harry Shreber and Samuel Maruthers are not to blame. Me alone... their unfortunate greed for the cursed jewels..." Oh darn it! It's all just a smeared porridge! Ah, here we go.
Luz: Yeah!
James: (read on) "... once again returned to her... no one should know..."
Amity: Ah, James!
James: (read on) "... I hid... lied to my friends, but first..." No! "... but it had to be. My plane knows the answer, because it rests there in peace. But only the key and the Star of Kerral can open the last door."
Matt: The last door?
James: Signature: (reads already) "John Benjamin Fisher".
Matt: Hey! Guys!
Amity: What?
Rob: Whats wrong?
Matt: The Coven! Coven Guards with their staffs are above us!
Hole group: (calling) HELP! HELP! HERE DOWN THERE!
Several Coven Guards fished the seven teens out of the water and flew back to the Isle.
Coven Guard: Is someone hurt?
Rob: No, no, everything is okay!
Amity: Who notified you guys in the first place?
Coven Guard: A Mister Ishmael Rubyfollow.
Willow: Huh?
James: Ismael Rubyfollow? Ha, then Nat is following the criminals!
XXX
The Coven Guards took the teens back to the countryside, fortunately for them the Guards did not recognize Luz. The next day. The seven teens were not at the headquarters but at the Owl House. In the living room. King slept on Luz in the on the couch.
James: Guys?
Luz: Hmm?
James: The case is as good as solved.
Matt: Have we? I mean solved the case?
James: Well, as I said, as good as.
Gus: Does that mean you know where the treasure is now?
Amity: Yeah!
James: No, no, of course not! For that, we first have to find the last door mentioned in Fisher's letter.
Willow: Well, and? What's the next step?
James: I spoke with Coven Captain Murphy on the Scroll earlier.
Matt: Who?
Rob: Yes, it was that captain on the tourist ship from which we watched the sinking of the Leviathan.
Matt: Ah, yes yes!
James: He did tell us that he had been the captain of the Leviathan in the past.
Luz: Yeah?
Amity: Yeah right! And, uh, what did you want from him?
James: Ask him about the planes on board of the Dauntless. I wanted to know where they went after they were decommissioned.
Rob: Yeah i remember it. Nat told us that Fisher was stationed on the Dauntless. But why do you need this information, James?
James: Because John Fisher's guilty plea said, (quoting) "My plane knows the answer, for it rests there in peace."
Gus: Yeah! Right!
Luz: Yes, and could this Captain Murphy actually give you information?
James: At first, of course, he was extremely buttoned up, but with a little skill on my part, I was able to elicit this info from him...
Rob: Do we have to pull everything out of your nose James?
Matt: James!
James: Most of the planes were scrapped or sold in the 80s. But Fisher's plane is in one of the largest plane graveyards on the Isles, in the desert part of Boiling Isles. I even have the plane's identification number.
Willow: No!
Gus: Respect, James!
James: But that's not all guys, because finally I asked him if he had ever heard of Anudhara.
Amity and Matt: And?!
James: And he knew her!
Rob and Luz: What?!
James: According to Captain Murphy, while she was an outcast princess and agent of a secret organization called Rondbo, she was also one of the most cunning jewel thieves of her time.
Willow: And what do we do with this info?
James: Mh, we'll keep this info in mind.
Luz: Mhm!
James: But the first thing we have to do is somehow reach Nat. He's not answering my calls again. It could be that Smith, Taylor and Angelica have him under their control.
Gus: Well, and then we have to find Smith, Taylor and Angelica. They took the Star of Kerral. But without Nat, we probably can't get to the three of them.
James: Yeah! Then I suggest we pay a visit to the Coven Royality family Fisher next. After all, Curtis Fisher broke into Shreber's house and stole the box of model airplanes.
Amity: All right! Lets go!
XXX
It was nighttime in Bonesborough. A silver Abomination sports car was parked in the garage entrance of a posh white house. What didn't quite fit the posh atmosphere were James, Matt, Rob, Luz, Amity, Willow and Gus squatting close to the house wall in a bush. From the window came loud voices, those of Curtis and his father.
Amphilius Fisher: What was the purpose of this action?!
Curtis Fisher: It may be that you don't care about our inheritance, but I do. I want what's rightfully ours. But if you don't care about it, I will.
Amphilius: By setting fire to Sapchevsky's house you fucking idiot?!
Curtis: It was an accident. I wanted to open the safe!
Amphilius: An Accident. You walk into a tinder-dry wooden house with a fire spell and wonder why it burns down. You almost killed those boys.
Curtis: But I didn't. Nothing happened. And I wore a mask for camouflage, which I found among all the junk in Shreber's house.
Amphilius: You should join the coven and lead the potions coven with me by your side.
Curtis: Well dad, I learned that from you.
Amphilius: Sapchevsky is ruined by your fault. And the boys only got out of it in one piece by luck.
Curtis: Damn it, Dad! The treasure is ours!
Amphilius: Nothing is ours, you fool! My brother John was a gambler and a drunk. And when he died he didn't even own the house he lived in. We gave up the inheritance then. That would have been a debt of thirty thousand snails.
Curtis: I don't care! His letter said that there is a treasure. And I want to have it!
That was it for Amphilius, he slapped Curtis and yelled at him.
Amphilius: (angry) Get out of here!
Curtis: Great! If you can not stand the truth.
Curtis walked out of the room and outside to his car
Matt: Oh, that rat Curtis! He started the fire in Sapchevsky's house.
James: This at least clarifies the question why Rashura's people did not know about it.
Amity: Yes, Curtis must have been following you guys from the beginning. Maybe since the day he stole the box of model airplanes from Mr. Shreber's house.
Luz: What are we doing now?
Willow: Curtis drives away. Come on, guys! We have to go after him!
James: Yeah, come on!
XXX
The seven teens, rode in Matt's car, Curtis trailing behind. Until Curtis stopped in front of a small bungalow in Bonesborough.
Rob: There! Curtis stops in front of the small bungalow by the hedge.
James: Stop right here, Matt!
Matt: Alright!
Gus: So, I'm curious. He gets out. Now he goes to the house and rings the bell.
Willow: Who might live there? There! The door opens. But... but that's...
Amity: Coven Guard Madhu!
Luz: Crazy!
Rob: He lets him into the house. Come on, guys! Let's take a closer look.
Matt: Yeah!
The seven got out and sneaked to the living room window, which was open. And they listened to the conversation from Madhu and Curtis.
Madhu: I told you not to come here!
Curtis: I just want my snails. You told me there was something to get in this. And I want that, too.
Madhu: You blew it. If you just had the key.
Curtis: I didn't find him. But now give me what we agreed or I will snitch you at the Golden Guard!
James: (whispering) Come on, guys!
James and the other six walked to the front door. James knocked and called for Madhu
James: (knocks) Hello? Madhu?
Curtis: (startled sound) The Mystery Trio!
Luz: We are also here!
James: Do you need help?
Madhu: (sighs) All right, I'll open up.
Madhu opened the door and gave the teens a tired smile.
Madhu: Come in!
The teens said thank you and went inside, inside an old woman was still greeting the seven. In a language they did not understand. The old woman seemed strangely familiar for James.
Willow: Oh, uh, good evening madam!
Madhu: Uh, this is my mother.
Matt: Uh, hello!
Luz: (quiet) Good evening.
James: Curtis, the game is over! Theft, arson and extortion. I'm curious what the Golden Guard has to say about this.
Curtis: Huh, what are you talking about? You can't prove anything about that.
Amity: Oh yeah we can! We followed you after we overheard your conversation with your father. I suggest you go home, let your father pay you a good lawyer and hope that Mr. Sapchevsky will let himself talk about that.
Curtis: (angry) Oh, you, listen, I...
James: (interrupts) Amity is right Curtis! Go home and let us do our work.
Luz: Yes!
James: If your family has a right to the treasure, you will get it. I'm sure your father would prefer it if this could be done without criminal games.
Curtis: Pah! Madhu is the only one playing criminal games here. He is an accomplice of the criminals!
James: Mh, you can tell that to the Coven.
Gus: Mhm!
James: Maybe you'll get lucky and Madhu won't report you for attempted extortion.
Madhu: Why shouldn't I do that?
James: Oh, because then things would also come to light that you would rather keep secret.
Madhu: Oh, so now i undestand. Are you trying to blackmail me now?!
Madhu's mother, said something in another language, and Madhu nodded.
Madhu: Yes mother! Listen Curtis! I forget you were here tonight. Get out of here and never come back!
Curtis: (angry) Oh, to hell with all of you!
Curtis stormed out of the bungalow, and got in his car and drove away at full speed.
Madhu: At this speed, he probably have to pay a fine. (laughs) So! Now sit down! Do you guys want a tea?
Matt: Are you poisoning us then?
Madhu: (sighs) Why would I do that?
Matt: No idea! I don't understand anything here anymore. And anyway, everyone here seems to want to poison, blackmail, kidnap or... or otherwise want to harm. Maybe someone will finally explain to me what is actually going on here.
Luz: Yeah, my brain hurt.
Gus: So complicated…
Willow: (laughs)
Rob: Yes, uh, uh, me too, please. Uh, James? Now you actually have the opportunity, um, for a very long monologue.
James: (sighs) The matter is quite simple guys. Madhu deviated a little from the official path to get the key to John Fisher's treasure. He contacted Rashura's accomplices and even helped them. Isn't that right, Madhu?
Madhu: Mhm!
James: Didn't you arrange for Smith and Taylor to steal the Coven Abomination Car and pose as fake Coven Guards?
Madhu: Tz! Why should I have done that now again?
James: There are three possible answers to this. Either you are a criminal and you are working with Rashura. Or you are playing a set-up and trying to steal the treasure from Rashura. Or you are an honest Coven Guard who has been given free rein by his superior to put Rashura behind bars. Whereas I would prefer the last possibility. How about Madhu telling us the truth for a change? Are you really working for the Rondbo organization?
Madhu: Yes.
James: And did you come to Bonesborough to search for the treasure?
Madhu: No.
James: Then you are looking for Rashura!
Madhu: Thats right!
James: So Madhu! You lied to us, didn't you? You told us that Anudhara won the Star of Kerral playing John Fisher's Hexes Hold'em. But that doesn't make any sense at all. Where would he have gotten the stone? I racked my brains for days until I learned that Anudhara was a cunning jewel thief.
Madhu: Yes, that is also correct!
Madhu's mother made big eyes and said again to Madhu something in the other language. Madhu just nodded again.
James: And this way around, it suddenly works. Anudhara was involved in the robbery at the rich witch's palace.
Gus: Mhm!
James: And at Hexes Hold'em, she lost the stone to John Fisher. He then harassed her and perhaps even threatened her until she agreed to lead him to the hiding place of the rest of the treasure.
Matt: Yeah!
James: Fisher took his friends Shreber and Maruthers with him for reinforcement. But in the temple to which Anudhara led the three, something unexpected happened. It ended with the princess disappearing and the three friends immediately going back to Cochin.
Madhu: That's right, that's how it was! They got into a quarrel. Anudhara gave them some jewels, but refused to show them the main hiding place.
Luz: Aha!
Madhu: She was afraid of the man with whom she had planned and executed the robbery.
James: Hm!
Madhu: The witch who today calls himself Rashura and has sworn revenge.
Rob: Hm! Do you know his real name?
Madhu: No! Mr. Shreber came to us at the coven station and said he was being haunted by a vengeful ghost.
Amity: Yeah, but... but you were already here in Bonesborough. How did you know you had to come here of all places?
Madhu: (laughs) Our organization also has some capabilities.
Gus: (laughs)
Madhu: I simply searched for the names John Fisher, Harry Shreber and Samuel Maruthers and followed them here. Fisher and Maruthers were dead and Shreber refused to tell me anything. Then he died, too, and piled his legacy on you.
Luz: So, you admitted that you're hunting Rashura and Nat Holbone, aka Ishmael, is doing the same thing. But Rashura still escaped you guys. He now has the star of Kerral
Madhu: However, that alone is of no use to him. To open the last door, he needs a key.
Willow: Ah, and we have that one.
Matt: Yes, but w... w... w... what is the last door?
Madhu: The door to the treasure's hiding place, I suppose. But I don't know where it is.
Rob: One thing interests me. Why did they tell us this lie tale in the first place?
Amity: Yeah! Exactly!
Rob: That only makes sense if you don't want Anudhara to look like a jewel thief. Do you want to protect her or what?
James: (yawns exaggeratedly) Oh, so late already.
Rob: What?
James: Hmm, I think we should go guys now.
Amity: But we are...
Matt: But James! We, uh...
James: (interrupts) Don't worry Madhu! We'll keep all this to ourselves if you help us.
Madhu: Of course! Wait, I'll walk you to the door.
James: All right, come on!
XXX
The next morning, the three detectives and Luz, Amity, Gus and Willow met with Mr. Mason at the Bonesborough cafe to tell him about their findings so far. However, they told only what had happened around the Leviathan. The old secretary of Mister Shreber was horrified.
Fred: Oh, my Titan! This has become really dangerous. Surely you want to stop now, right?
Matt: Absolutely not!
Fred: But you didn't get the stone. These criminals have it.
Rob: Yes! But we have the key that opens the last door.
Luz: Yeah!
Fred: The last door?
Gus: Yes!
Fred: Whats that?
Willow: The access to the treasure.
Fred: Oh! You guys know where the treasure is?
Amity: Yes! And the criminals probably know it too. We are afraid that they have caught Ishmael, so, uh, Nat and probably he will tell them what he knows.
James: Mhm, but we will set a trap for them.
Matt: Yes!
Fred: A trap?
Luz: Yep!
Fred: Guys, that's extremely dangerous. You'd better leave that to the Emperor`s Coven.
James: Oh, don't worry Mr. Mason. The Golden Guard will be well hidden with his coven and strike at the right moment. Then we get rid of the criminals, get the Star of Kerral and can recover the treasure.
Fred: Hm!
James: And then we can decide what is the right thing to do.
Fred: I think I would like to be there. I feel like I owe it to Mr. Shreber after all this time. So where is this last door?
James: We will find out when we find John Fisher's plane. It stands on the grounds of the Coven Air Museum in the desert side of the Boiling Isles. We just have to get there.
Fred: Well, that's not a problem.
Gus: What?
Fred: I just rent us a small Abomination sports plane.
Rob: What?
Fred: A friend of mine is a hobby pilot. He will certainly like to fly us to the museum. (Matt laughs)
Rob: How convenient.
Fred: When should it start?
James: Tomorrow morning.
Fred: Great!
James: We have yet to tell the Golden Guard to notify his Coven Guards. So we will meet tomorrow morning at eight o'clock.
Fred: Alright! And sit quietly and enjoy your ice cream. (Gus laughs) The fairy ice cream goes on my account. That is already a tradition, so to speak. (laughs)
Rob: (laughs) That's right!
Fred: So, see you tomorrow!
Matt: See you tomorrow and thank you! Are you sure Luz that you don't want any Fairy Ice Cream?
Luz: Never!
XXX
So that was it, the airplane cemetery of the Coven Air Museum. After the Cessna chartered by Mister Mason landed, the seven teens, Mister Mason and his pilot got off and were then taken by bus to the said plane, the number of which James had given to the friendly bus driver. The first detective asked the pilot and Mister Mason to wait on the bus. Then he, his two brothers and his four friends got out...
Rob: (groans)
Willow: Humph? What's going on?
Rob: Well, it`s hot.
Gus: Oh!
Rob: I think it's terribly hot. And now we should also climb in this abominated metal furnace. Please, not!
James: We will have no other choice if we want to solve the mystery.
Luz: Well, well, I'll open the door.
When Luz opened the door, the seven were frightened, smith, Taylor and Angelica were waiting in front of them.
Smith: Who do we have there? Come in nice and clean in the warm room.
Amity: Please no!
Smith: And no tricks, understood? Otherwise you are dead. Come on!
The criminals pulled the teens in and threatened them with Abomination Blades. Taylor closed the door.
James: Mister Smith! Mr. Taylor. Angelica! So you actually managed to escape from Conformatorium.
Angelica: Indeed kid! A friend of ours posted bail. And since we were only accused of a little rough mischief, we were free again so quickly that we could even thank Mister Ishmael personally for this interesting experience.
Luz: Where's Nat? What have you done to him?
Smith: Well, what did we do with him? What do you think? We don't appreciate being ripped off at all. He did try to buy his way out by leading us to that last door, but he couldn't open it either. So we left him in the grave.
Amity: So the last door, that's a grave?
Angelica: A mausoleum, yes. That's where Mister Ishmael is talking to the skeletons now.
Amity: What?!
Matt: Is he dead? Did you kill him?
Gus: Yeah!
Angelica: (laughs) Where are you thinking? We are not murderers. And after all, he gave us the tip that we should wait for you here. So we just locked him up. If he suffocates, it's his problem.
Willow: Oh no!
Smith: You're going to hand over that key right now, or you're going to have a big problem.
James: I don't think so! Take a look outside!
Taylor looked outside through the window, he was startled, outside were dozens of Coven Guards and the Golden Guard with his Staff waiting.
Taylor: What the... Smith! Out there, there's Coven Guards everywhere!
Smith: What? You snitched us, you fucking kids! I'll kill you for this.
Taylor: No! Are you insane? If you kill one of these kids, we'll never get out of this box alive.
Smith: W... w... w... we can negotiate. We have the kids after all. W... w... w... we take them hostage and... and get out of here.
Angelica: Forget it! You see all those Coven Guards in the air with their staffs waiting for us out there? We'll never get out of there alive. (sighs) I'm afraid you've won, you little brats.
James: I would like the Star of Kerral. Give it to me, please.
Smith: Yes! Yes, I'll give you the star of Kerra.
Smith handed James the red stone.
James: Thank you very much!
Smith: You better pray that we never meet again!
XXX
Smith, Taylor and Angelica were immediately arrested by Hunter. The seven teens and Mr. Mason, however, let the friendly woman wagon driver drive them to the mausoleum where the criminals had locked up Nat Holbone. They got out and walked there.
James: Hurry up! Come on, Mr. Mason!
Fred: Yeah! Yeah!
Wagon driver: I will also go along.
Gus: Very good! We can use all the help we can get. Go!
Fred: How do you actually know where we have to go?
James: We got all the information we needed from the Golden Guard. John Fisher's family was originally from this area and he was buried here in the family grave. And there is also the last door.
Fred: Aha!
The large group walked around the cemetery and searched for the grave of the Fishers. When Willow was the first to discover it.
Willow: There! There is the tomb of the Fishers.
Matt: Look, these lousy guys have rammed the door with a thick stone slab.
Rob: Come on, help me!
The group, pushed the stone away with difficulty, after the stone was gone they called for Nat.
James: So! Nat!
Matt: (shouts) Nat! Nat!
Luz and Amity: Naaat!
Nat: (in a weak voice) Here! (groans)
Gus: There he is. Nat!
Willow: Hey!
Nat: (in a weak voice) Water! Water!
Rob: He is thirsty.
Wagon driver: Here! I have something to drink. (Nat drinks) Oh, Uncle Nat! And we thought you were...
Willow: Uncle? How? Are you related to each other?
James: Huh?
Matt: And you actually work here at the airplane museum?
Wagon driver: Exactly!
James: Guys! We will now take care of the last door.
Nat: (with a weak voice) Fisher's grave. But you need...
Matt: Huh?
Nat: (with a weak voice) ... Key... (moans) and the star.
Amity: We... we have both. Don't worry.
Nat: (with a weak voice) No, no, you don't understand. Not the stone.
Fred: We already know what we have to do Mr. Holbone. Come guys, let's take a closer look at this grave.
James: Not so fast Rashura!
Fred: What are you saying? Rashura? For Titans sake! Is he here?
Luz: Oh, quit the bullshit Mason! We know you are Rashura.
Nat: This can't be. He is not Rashura.
James: You bet! This is the man who, along with Anudhara, robbed the treasury of a rich witch over thirty years ago and then paid John Fisher to take out the princess. But he had underestimated Fisher. He did what he was supposed to do and pushed Anudhara into a deep column, but later he came back to save her. However, he did not find her because she had managed to free herself.
Matt: Hm!
James: Instead, he found the treasure and took it with him. He hid him aboard the Dauntless. He told his friends and them, Nat, that there was only the star of Kerral in the safe of the Leviathan. He brought the treasure to Bonesborough unmolested and hid it here in the family grave.
Fred: (laughs) And I... I'm supposed to have something to do with it?
James: Yes!
Fred: That is absurd!
Amity: That's not! You felt cheated of the treasure and swore revenge.
Fred: Oh what!
Luz: You searched under the name Rashura until you found the place where Fisher, Maruthers and Shreber had moved.
Matt: However, by the time you arrived in Bonesborough, Fisher and Maruthers were already dead. That's why you applied to be secretaries to Shreber and at the same time started terrorizing the poor old man.
Rob: Exactly!
Gus: And when none of that helped, you scared him to death. Probably with the demon mask.
Willow: Yes, and that worked out.
Fred: (angry) You're insane, completely insane!
Luz: How fitting that as secretary you wrote all the letters for Mister Shreber, so that the whole world thought your handwriting was that of Mister Shreber.
Matt: Yes! So you could also fake Shreber's will.
Nat: What?
James: Don't you remember? We all puzzled over why Mr. Shreber wrote us such a strange letter.
Willow: Why not to you, Nat? Because the man who wrote the letter did not know who Ishmael was. And Mister Mason didn't know where the star of Kerral was. He probably overhevered Mister Shreber telling Gerro about the precious stone.
Fred: Such nonsense!
James: After Shreber's death, Mason summed up all the hints he himself didn't understand into a riddle and looked for someone who could solve it. That's how he came up with us.
Fred: This is complete nonsense! Why, for example, should I warn you about Rashura if I had been and wanted to stay hidden?
Rob: Because Mr. Shreber told the Coven several times that someone named Rashura was after him. It would have been illogical not to point this out in his letter.
Nat: But Smith and his people would never have poisoned their own boss.
Matt: Nevertheless! Because they didn't know who he was and received your instructions by scroll. They thought only he was an annoying old man who had learned too much about the stone in Shreber's house.
Nat: But they did meet him. He caught Smith and Taylor breaking in and they treated him so badly that he had to go to the clinic.
James: Wrong! Mister Mason simulated the attack to distract the suspicion from himself. Ironically, he really felt bad when his own people poisoned him.
Fred: It's enough for me now! I've been waiting for thirty years and I won't let it be spoiled by runaway dirty children.
A new man now came to the tomb, and it was Coven Guard Madhu.
Madhu: Give up, Rashura! After all this years, i have you now!
Matt: Madhu!
Fred: Enough! You've been really smart, I have to leave that to you! But you guys was wrong about one thing... Rashura is not a mask.
Suddenly, Fred Mason's eyes turned red. Fire-red. His skin turned into something green and he got ugly teeth. Fred's gray hair turned into two horns. His fingernails became longer and dirtier. Fred laughed gruesomely and the teens were frightened.
Rashura: I am RASHURA!
James: But...how?!
Rashura: Fred is just my body that I have. Fred Mason may have waited 30 years. But I have waited decades for this moment.
Amity: You don't want the treasure, do you? What do you really want?
Rashura: I want an old Relic, which is in the treasure. This Relic will free me from the grotto and I can rule over all of Boiling Isles! You made me appear after all! And now you will all die!
Rashura's hands were now out of fire. And he shot fireballs at the large group. Everyone walked behind Madhu while he fended off all the fireballs. They ran out of the tomb. Rashura also came out and shot at the group. The group split up, Nat, Madhu and the Wagon drivers tried to do something against Rashura with Spells. But nothing helped. The seven teens hid behind a grave.
Rashura: Give me the Star of Kerral!
Madhu: Never!
Matt: What do we do James?! You always have a plan!
Luz: Yes! Get something smart out of you James!
James: Uh...uh, i...mean uh.
Amity: Wait guys! I might have an idea!
Rob: Okay!
Amity: I have a theory, I think Rashura is not that strong. You know, the Titan banished him. I think that when he finds the Relic, he will have his full strength back. And right now he's alone and there are ten of us.
James: Ahaa, we have to work as a team against him!
Luz: Then go guys!
Then it started, the seven came out of hiding and helped Madhu, Nat and the Wagon driver, all started using their specialized spells. Amity held Rashura with her Abomination and Gus with James distracted him with an illusion of the Star of Kerral. Luz used Fire Glyphs to hurt Rashura. After some time they realized that Rashura is vulnerable because of Fred Mason's body. Willow held Rashura with her roots and Madhu fired several spells at him with his staff. Amity knocked Rashura out with an abomination fist. The transformation disappeared and there was only old Fred Mason there, without consciousness.
Matt: We did it!
Luz: Yeah! Wohooo!
Madhu: Well done kids!
Nat: Yeah!
James: Thank you Madhu! I did not know if you come in time!
Willow: Yeah thank you!
The ten tied Mason up with several roots and Abominations looking out for him. All ten went back into the tomb.
Madhu: So now for this treasure. You have the key and the stone?
Nat: Star! Not stone! Only the star of Kerral can open the door. That's how John Fisher decreed it at the time, and that's how I built it. Harry Shreber was not the only one who wanted to make something good.
Madhu: Then come!
They went further inside the tomb and saw a door in front of them, but a modern door.
Nat: So, here! This is the last door. See this keyhole James? That's where the little key belongs.
James: Here it is.
James put the key in and turned it. The teens and adults heard a click. But next to the door was numerical code.
Nat: But the numerical code is missing. Without it, we can't open the door.
James: Let me guess. Anudhara, the other star of Kerral, has the code.
Madhu: Hm! I can help with that.
Madhu entered a code and the door opened.
Hole group: Huh?!
They went in and were amazed.
Matt: A treasure chamber!
Nat: Yeah!
Luz: Oh my Titan! Gold!
James: Jewels!
Gus: And blue Mythril! The most valuable material in all of Boiling Isles!
Amity: Madhu, how did you know the code?
Willow: Yeah!
Madhu: Well, Fisher also still felt guilty about Anudhara.
Rob: Yeah?
Madhu: So he pawned his watch and headed back to Spellstorm. There he searched and found his princess and gave her the code for this door. Anudhara would later return to Fisher when it would be save and together they would get the treasure.
Luz and Amity: Aha!
Madhu: However, Anudhara did not come because she was afraid of Rashura's revenge. Instead, she instructed her son to go to Bonesborough and bring everything to a right end. And that is how I came here.
James: Ha, i knew it!
Luz: What a story!
Gus: So many twists!
Matt: Mhm, that's probably true. I'm so confused by now, you could have told me any story. I would believe it.
Madhu: Well, kids! This is your treasure now. And now you have to decide and do the right thing.
James: Well, if that's so, then Mister Sapchevsky should be compensated for losing his house and his entire livelihood.
Luz: Yeah, great idea!
Amity: I think thats great, James.
Matt: Yep!
Willow: Good! Um, the rest of the treasure should then go back to the rightful owners, the heirs of the rich witch.
James: Yeah, exactly!
Gus: We are so good peoples!
James: What do we do with the Star of Kerral?
Luz: I have an idea! Here, the burning crystal, Madhu, please give it to your mother.
Luz took the red stone from James and gave it to Madhu.
Madhu: Oh! Thank you, Luz!
Luz: I think she will be happy and maybe she will decide to go home and return it.
Madhu: You know guys, after so many decades, the case is finally solved.
James: Hm!
Madhu: And who would have thought that seven teenagers, of all people, would bring the truth to light. (Matt laughs) Well, I... thank you!
Hole group: (laughs)
XXX
And that's the end of the adventure. Mister Mason was arrested and brought to Emperor Belos, he did a spell to drive Rashura out of him. Then when the spirit evaporated from Fred's body. Rashura remained in his grotto without escape. The next day the seven teens sat in the cafe of Bonesborough, even James was now tired of adventure and really needed a vacation. But it didn't help that the semester break were soon over. Besides, James' brothers noticed how he kept getting nervous and sometimes blushing because of Gus. In the evening they were back home, Matt and Rob went into James' room.
Matt: Ohh James, don't think we don't have you figured out...
James: (annoyed) What are you talking?
Rob: Yeah, yeah you like Gus don't you?
James: (blushing) No! That would be superfluous, feelings towards other witches are just mind killer.
Matt: Stop talking, me and Rob always thought you were a hermit or just weird. But now we know that you can like others.
James: Okay, I admit it! Gus is really great! But I do not know how to deal with it!
Rob: I think this is a case for the Mystery Trio to solve isn't it Matt?
Matt: Yes sir!
James: Oh man…
