Hey everyone! Sorry for my years long hiatus. I've been just so busy IRL that I didn't have time before now. I'm very sorry to all my fans who waited so long for an update, and nothing will probably make up for all the lost time, so I'm gonna work on this story more, and get out multitudes of chapters so at least my dear old fans and lovely new fans alike can have a little bit of a binge. I enjoy writing this story that I write whenever I have a little free time and I genuinely hope that y'all can bear with me, as I'm still improving my own writing skill and capability. Well enough about me, y'all came here to see Superboy in Hoenn, so here it is!
Outskirts of Rustboro City
June 4, 2016. 15:32
As the evening sun hangs low over the tall buildings of Rustboro, Conner nimbly leaps over the Trainer Tips sign standing in the center of trail onto route 116. Conner then carefully looks around the forested path, seeing many Pokémon among the grass around, and even more trainers on the path. He then soon spots a potion a little further ahead on the trail, as if someone dropped it in a hurry…
Conner then runs into the tall grass, spotting many odd heat signatures from Pokémon around him, before spotting a youngster playing with a Zigzagoon and another young boy wielding a net even further. Conner then crouches, before quickly leaping high in the air, startling the nearby Pokémon, which also happened to grasp the attention away from Conner as he super-jumps high above the trees. Conner then uses his aerial advantage to spot the blue clothed thief, as he pushes a hiker out of the way before running into a large cave tunnel.
As Conner lands back onto the ground with such force to send a small shockwave, a young woman is knocked over in shock.
"Sorry, here let me hel-" Conner tries to say, before she bounces back up to her feet in a fit of rage.
"How dare you try to scare me mister! You've really done it now!" She yells.
"Look, I'm try to catc-" Conner attempts, but she quickly grabs her Pokeball and holds it to his face.
"Let me teach you how strong my adorable Pokémon is!" She shouts, before releasing her Pokémon onto the ground in front of Conner.
Her Pokémon appeared to be a round, blue and white rodent with a blue ball on its tail. "Marr-il!" It roared.
"Look, I don't have time to battle you, I'm trying to stop a robbery!" Conner yelled in frustration.
"Hmmm. Fine. But you owe me a battle!" The lass said, starting to simmer down. She then recalled her blue Pokémon to its Pokeball, before walking up to Conner, extending her hand. "Janice".
"Conner" He responded, shaking her hand. A blush streaked across her face as she looked into his eyes, before quickly jerking her hand away from his grip, awkwardly holding her hand as she fights her blush. "O-okay then… I'll beat you with my adorable Pokémon when you finish playing hero".
Conner scoffs, but then nods to her before taking off with another super jump, knocking Janice down once again with its shockwave.
Conner then soon lands in front of a small house near the tunnel entrance. A man wearing a white gi and black belt stood outside the door, unphased by Conner's powerful landing. He seemed very upset, as Conner slowly approached.
"Hey what's going on?" Conner asked.
The man then exploded in anger and anxiety.
"I thought martial artist are supposed to keep calm? Maybe it's different here" Conner wondered, as the man growled. "Grrrrrr! What's going on?! I was digging the tunnel out without any tools when some goon ordered me out! That tunnel's filled with Pokémon that react badly to loud noises. They could cause an uproar! That's why we stopped using heavy equipment for tunneling… I'm worried that the goon will do something stupid and startle the Pokémon into an uproar. Now I'll never get to her" The man exclaimed, now pacing back and forth. Conner was now even more confused, mainly on how some random goon could order (what looks like) a martial artist around? "Maybe he's got a gun or something".
Conner then began to approach, until suddenly an old man came running at him. "Ohhh what am I to do?!" The elder groaned. "We we're just out on our walk, Peeko and I, when we were attacked by an odd thug…and then the scoundrel made off with my darling Peeko!" He cried, before aimlessly walking around, yelling "Where are yoooouuu?! Peeeeeko!"
Conner then assuringly places his hand on the senior's shoulder. "Don't worry, I'll get your Peeko back." Conner says, before dashing into the dark tunnel.
Rustdurf Tunnel
June 4, 2016. 16:29
While Conner runs into the dimly lit tunnel, he stumbles upon an unused Pokeball, which also seemingly had been dropped in a hurry. Conner continues down the large deep green colored rocky tunnel as he can hear someone up ahead, seemingly frustrated with a squeaking Pokémon.
Conner runs to the noise, but stealthy so, to not disturb the cave Pokémon. As the walls become more narrow, he finally comes across the familiar grunt Conner saw back in the Petalburg Woods. The grunt immediately turns around as Conner approaches, as some items drop from a hole in the grunt's bag behind him. "What? Are you coming? Come and get some, then!" He anxiously screamed, grabbing a Pokeball from his pocket.
"Grah, keelhaul it all!" The grunt roared as he kicked over a small white and blue seagull-like Pokémon tied in rope over to Conner. "This hostage Pokémon turned out to be worthless! And to think I made a getaway into this tunnel to nowhere!… And you! Now you're here to battle me. Really?" He stammered, trying to hold on desperately to seem confident. He then tosses his Pokeball, revealing his Poochyena again.
Pyro suddenly bursts forth from Conner's Pokeball on, materializing in front of the Poochyena and taking a battle stance. "Torchic-tor!" Pyro weakly chirped.
It was at this moment Conner realized he hadn't stopped to heal his Pokémon. With Pyro still weak from the gym battle, and Nova completely fainted, Conner had to protect his buddy. "I've got your back, Pyro! We'll take em down together!" Conner said, getting into a fighting stance.
"Torchic-tor-tor!" Pyro chirped valiantly, pumped up by Conner's words, with a firey Blaze in its eyes. "Alright Pyro! Use Ember!" Conner roared, as the Grunt scrambled to get out an command. "Poochyena! Use Sand attack!"
Pyro easily outspeeds the Poochyena, first building a powerful fire within itself, before releasing a massive Blaze-boosted Ember attack, that roasts the Poochyena before it could manage to kick up sand, fainting it instantly. The grunt stumbled back in shock, before collapsing to the ground in defeat. "Ugh! Uhhn ugh! Is this the end of my evil deeds?!" He groaned, as Conner and Pyro stood over the whimpering grunt. The grunt tossed 520 Pokedollars to Conner in a desperate effort to not be harmed. "This is plain not right… The boss told me this would be a slick-and-easy job to pull. All I had to do was steal some parts from Devon.Tch!" He confessed, grabbing his busted up bag. "You want em back that badly, then take em!" He muttered, before giving Conner the Devon Parts from the bag. Conner was confused by the strange mechanical contraptions that seemed like weird mix of a phone and a blow dryer, and a small satellite dish on a CD player. "All of this for this? Man, criminals in this world are really something else". Conner muttered, before grabbing the Grunt, holding him in the air by his shirt. "Pyro and I are taking you in."
"Torchic-Tor!" Pyro chirped, hopping on Conner's shoulder and attempting to intimidate the grunt with fierce chirping. "Thanks Pyro. Hey, do you think you can free the bird over there?"
"Torchic!" Pyro chirped affirmatively, before hopping down and used scratch to tear up the rope, freeing the bird.
"Wing? Wing-gull" The seabird Pokémon chirped thankfully, stretching its thin wings now that it's free.
"Now let's get out of here." Conner said, putting down the grunt. "Listen to what I say, got it?" Conner demanded, as the grunt quickly nodded. "Good. Hands on head where I can see em, and walk. Don't try to run or get any ideas okay?" Conner commanded. The grunt quickly shook his head affirmatively, and the four began to head back towards the entrance. As they approached the dimming afternoon light, the old man from earlier appeared, dazedly running towards Conner again. The seabird then chirped in excitement as it flew to the old man, finally happy and reunited.
"Peeko! Am I glad to see you're safe!" He said, happily holding up his precious Pokémon. The old man then turns to Conner, still wearing his excited smile. "My Peeko owes her life an freedom to you, lad! They call me Mr. Briney, and you are?" The gentleman asked, holding his hand out for a shake. "Conner, call me Conner". Conner replied, returning the handshake. "Ah, so it's Conner, it is now! Then I sincerely thank you, Conner! If there's ever a thing I can do to help you in turn, don't you hesitate to tell me. If I'm to be found, it will always be at my Cottage by the sea near Petalburg Woods." Conner then remembered the little shack with the boat back on route 104. "Wait, you have the boat… I need to get to this place called Mossdeep! Can you take me there?!" Conner perked, happy that something seems to be going right.
"I don't see why not! I'll just need to go to the store for a few supplies since we'll be on the sea for a while… come by my cottage tomorrow morning, lad." Mr. Briney said, checking his watch. "Come Peeko! High time we're under way to home!"
"Wing!!!" Peeko chirped, ready to go. The two hastly depart, as Conner was now left with the Aqua Grunt and Pyro. "Cmon, keep it moving, I didn't tell you to stop." Conner demanded, pushing the grunt along. As they got to the entrance, Conner spotted the Martial artist from before, standing outside first anxious, but soon shocked once he saw Conner and the Aqua Grunt. "Quick, get me some rope, and call the authorities". Conner said, as he pushed the Aqua grunt forward, knocking him down. "Gaah! Ooof ow!" He groaned, hitting the ground. The Martial artist then quickly ran into the small house, and barely a moment later, 2 other men came out, one holding rope. The men seemed like they were equipped for tunneling, still wearing their green dust covered orange worksuits. As the two men and Conner tie up the suspect. "Wow you're pretty brave for going in there like that". One of the workers commented. "Thanks, but Pyro here deserves the credit". Conner replied, as the three and the small chick Pokémon stand around their tied up captive. "Torchic-tor… tor…" Pyro chirped weakly.
"Darn! We have to go, my Pokémon need healing". Conner said, about to abruptly leave.
"Wait! We can heal your Pokémon! We have a healing machine inside! It's by the phone on the left!" The other burly tunneler instructed. "Thanks." Conner said, before entering the Tunneler's house.
Rustboro City
June 4, 2016. 17:34
"Dispatch we have a 211 on route 116 by Rustdurf Tunnel, over". The dispatch radio roared over the police motorcycle as a familiar teal-haired officer mounted on top revs the engine before picking up the communicator. "This is Officer Jenny, en route." She says, doing a doughnut to turn around and blaze down towards Route 116, sirens blaring as she speeds past traffic. She hops a ramp to make a shortcut, before going onto an off-road dirt path, speeding past a youngster and his Zigzagoon, kicking up dirt and debris. She soon nearly collides with a bug catching boy, swiftly dodging him, but not without his net being caught on her left handlebar, yanking it from his hands. "Hey! My net!" The boy screamed in the distance. She then quickly tosses it off, before shouting "sorry!"
It doesn't take Officer Jenny long to arrive at the house, after speeding past many trainers and Pokémon. Excited to finally make an arrest, she abruptly stops in front of the two workers, before hopping off her motorcycle in a dramatic flair. "Evening Gentlemen. I'm here for a robbery!" She says, tossing her Pokeballs over her shoulder, and sending out a small orange and black striped puppy Pokémon.
"No need for any squabbling, we already got em over here". One of the workers replied, stepping aside to show the Officer. "We wouldn't have em here if it wasn't for the passerboy Conner. He's in the house". The other worker replied, scratching the back of his head.
"I see…" Officer Jenny said, visibly upset about the lack of action. She then goes over to the grunt, taking out a pencil and a small notebook before crouching down to meet the tied up and sitting suspect. "Hmmm a team Aqua agent. Hmmph…" she scoffs. "Another youngster in something way over his head. Well I hope it was worth it".
She takes a bunch of notes, before asking to meet the man who apprehended him, Conner. "Growlithe! Stay outside and watch the suspect." Officer Jenny commanded, before slowly stepping inside the front door of the small grey house.
"Woof! Woof!" Growlithe barked affirmatively in response, before running over and taking a stance in front of the grunt, growling intimidatingly.
As Officer Jenny steps inside, she's taken aback from the smell and filth of three men who sweat all day, track green dust and mud everywhere, and leaving equipment and laundry all equally as dirt covered as the floors and walls themselves. She soon spots a martial artist and a tall young man tending to a sleeping Torchic and a Ralts across the room. She takes a few careful steps over and through the messy floor before stopping and loudly whispering. "Excuse me, can I speak with whichever of you is Conner outside? I just have a few questions".
"Oh tarnation, if I knew we'd be having a lady over, I'd haddon cleaned!" The black belted man stammered, before quickly getting up and into a cleaning frenzy.
"I'll keep it short. My Pokémon and I should be leaving soon". Conner replied, getting up and recalling his recovered Pokémon to their Pokeballs. He steps outside with Officer Jenny, whom quickly grabs her pencil and paper. "So Conner, what's your full name, date of birth, trainer identification number, and home address?" She started, poised and ready to apply the graphite to paper.
"Well, it's Conner Kent, born March 21, 2010, I don't know exactly what a trainer identification number is, and my home address is in Happy harbor, Rhode Island, United States of America" He replied with his signature scowl.
"Young man, do you really expect me to believe that you're only 6 years old and that you come from some place I've never heard of?" She angrily replied, tearing off a page of her notes.
"Look, I'm just trying to get back to Rustboro before it gets too late, and I'm telling the truth" Conner said, before turning away to walk. "Shouldn't you be asking him the questions?" Conner said, gesturing a thumb towards the grunt as he walks away.
It was at this moment Officer Jenny exploded in anger. "I don't know who you think you are young man, but this is not how you treat an Officer!" She yelled, before stomping up to Conner. "Do you want me to lock you in jail with him?"
"Officer, You were called here for him, not me. All I know is that he stole some tech, kidnapped some seagull Pokémon, and pushed these workers out of their tunnel. I'm just here to take these parts back to a researcher". Conner said, taking the Devon Parts form his back and showing them to her. She takes out a magnifying glass to inspect one of the parts, and reads that it was created by the Devon Corporation. She gasps, before telling Conner "you're free to go." Conner looks to her and asks "why?"
"You're doing a favor for the most powerful man in Rustboro, I won't get in the way. But feel free to come turn yourself in at the Rustboro Police Station later for disorderly conduct" she joked sarcastically, before walking back towards the perp.
"Man, cops are even weirder here." Conner muttered as he trudged along the dimly lit forest path of route 116 towards the colossal buildings of Rustboro in the distance.
"Hey! You think you'd get by me without me noticing?!" A familiar (and annoying) girl's voice yelled. Suddenly from the trees on Conner's right, Janice appeared.
"Oh. It's you." Conner replied, barely slowing down.
"You knocked me down again when you left! Who are you and what are you?! I demand answers!! She flared.
"At least I'm walking this time, happy?" Conner retorted.
"No… not yet. Not until I put you in your place!" She said, grabbing her Pokeball. "Go Marril! Teach em a lesson!" She said, unleashing her Pokémon, Materializing a blue round rodent Pokémon again. Suddenly Pyro's Pokeball burst open, as the Fire Chick formed in front of the Marril.
"Ahahahaha!" Janice laughed. "A fire type vs a water type! Oh I'm so gonna win" she boasted.
"Pyro? You sure you're up for this buddy?!" Conner asked, assessing the matchup.
"Torchic-tor!" Pyro chirped valiantly, sparks flying from its feathers.
"Alright then, Pyro! Use Scratch!" Conner shouted.
"What?! Hmmph. Marril! Use Defense Curl!" Janice yelled.
"Tooooorrrrc-chic!" Pyro screeched as it leaped into the air, raising its talon as the Marril began to tuck itself into a ball tightly. Pyro got to scratching the blue ball, but there was hardly any damage done.
As Pyro began to tire from fruitless scratching, Janice began to chuckle, before instructing Marril. "Now Marril! Use rollout!"
Before Conner could form a plan, the Blue ball began to spin rapidly, before rolling about at high speed. "Pyro! Dodge the attack!" Conner yelled, but before Pyro could even move, the Chick Pokémon took a direct supereffective hit, knocking Pyro into a nearby tree.
"Torchic-tor!" Pyro weakly chirped as it fell to the ground.
"Pyro! Nooooo!" Conner yelled, rushing over to his Pokémon. Despite the massive damage, Pyro could still stand, but wobbled a bit. " Pyro! Take a break now bud, I don't want to see you hurt again, plus I think Nova can beat this thing." Conner said, before grabbing Pyro's Pokeball and returning the Pokémon. A glimpse of sadness and disappointment streaked across Pyro's face as it disappeared into energy and sucked into the red and white sphere.
"So you quitting? Smart move." Janice mocked.
"No, but in fact this battle is over." Conner said grabbing Nova's Pokeball, tossing it up. "Go Nova! Use Magical Leaf!"
As Nova materialized in front of Marril, the Ralts began using its telekinetic energy to gather leaves from the grass and trees nearby, holding them above her head "Ralts Ralts!" Nova sounded loudly, before unleashing the barrage of leaves.
Janice's smile took an entire flip as she could only helplessly watch the undodgeable torrent of leaves fly towards her poor Marril. "Marril noooo!" She screamed, as the leaves pelted the round blue Pokémon, launching it through the air back towards Janice, simultaneously knocking her down and knocking out her Pokémon.
"Nooo! Not again!" Janice yelled, returning her Pokémon to its Pokeball. "That's so unfair! I didn't know you had another Pokémon! I guess you're a notch above me." She sighed, before tossing Conner 160 Pokedollars. She then begins to dig through her bag for healing items.
"Glad that's over. See ya." Conner said, taking out his Pokeballs, releasing his two Pokémon.
"Torchic- tor!" Pyro chirped before taking a pouting stance, as Nova materialized beside the Chick.
"Let's check your health…" Conner said, grabbing his Pokédex, scanning the two small Pokémon.
"Ralts, level 19 Health percentage 100%
"Hmm, that's good, and Pyro-" Conner started, before being cutoff by a blinding light engulfing the Chick Pokémon.
"What?! What's this?! Pyro? What's happening?" Conner worried. As Conner began to approach the light, Janice stopped him with a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, it's okay! Evolution is a wonderful thing! I've been trying to get Marril to evolve for over a year! Your Pokémon is gonna be sooo much stronger." Janice beamed. The two then stood silently as the light began to fade.
What stood at what was yellow and orange creature, standing at about 2'11 with three sharp claws at the ends of its yellow arms, and with well-developed thighs with grey sharp talons. "Combusk- ken ken!" It screeched loudly.
"Wow! Pyro! Is that really you?! You look awesome!" Conner complemented, going up to pet his companion. Before Conner could touch the young fowl Pokémon, Pyro swatted away his hand, before folding its arms and angrily looking away.
"Woah, what's up Pyro? Why are you acting like that?" Conner asked, slightly angry and confused. "Busken- busk!" Pyro screeched.
"I've seen this! Sometimes Pokémon have a different disposition when they evolve! It's the same Pokémon you know and love, but now with teenage angst!" Janice joked.
"Hmmm I see. Well that's fine, I've been there before. I'll get through to you eventually." Conner said, crouching down to Pyro's new height.
Conner then scanned Pyro with the Pokédex.
"Combusken, the Young Fowl Pokémon. Combusken toughens up its legs and thighs by running through fields and mountains. This Pokémon's legs possess both speed and power, enabling it to dole out 10 kicks in one second. This Combusken's moves are: Double Kick, Peck, Scratch and Ember. It's Health percentage is at 41% and currently level 16".
"Looks like you learned some new moves, Pyro! How about we practice some tomorrow once your nice and rested?" Conner said, hoping to get a positive reaction from Pyro, but to no avail as the Young Fowl Pokémon continued to face away from him with no response.
"Hmmph. Fine, have it your way. Pyro, Return!" Conner grunted, whipping out Pyro's ball and returning it to the spherical capsule.
"Wanna be my shoulder buddy Nova?" Conner said, scooping up the wispy Ralts.
"Ralts Ralts!" Nova sounded cheerfully, before Conner placed her on his shoulder. Conner then turned to Janice, whom was completely enthralled by Conner's compassion for his Pokémon.
"Goodbye, really this time." He said, before resuming his walk. Janice blushed, as many emotions welled within her, wanting to burst forth to tell him how she feels before he fades into the shadows of the woods as darkness crept all around as the afternoon Dusk receded into the night. "Bye…." Was all she could muster out before he completed disappeared, she then fell onto her knees, wishing it was him to sweep her off her feet once again…
As Conner continued walking in the dark, he came across a Trainer Tips sign: If you want to stop a POKéMON from
evolving, press the B Button while it
is trying to evolve.
The startled POKéMON will stop.
This is called an evolution cancel.
"B Button? What is that? I wish I'd had known about this sooner." Conner muttered.
Rustboro City
June 4, 2016. 18:45
After a long walk in the dark, Conner and Nova finally reached the large rustic east gate of Rustboro City, as the nighttime traffic of people and Pokémon bustled, though not as much as the daytime.
"Let's return these parts and maybe call it a night?"
"…lets!" Nova chimed telepathically.
As the duo strolled down the street, Conner spotted the Researcher about a block down. He quickly ran over the clipboard wielding man, whom turns around just in time to not be surprised by Conner.
"Oh! How did it go? Did you get my Devon Parts?" The Researcher asked.
"Yeah here." Conner replied, grabbing the parts from his bag, handing it to the Researcher. "You did! You got them back!" The Researcher cheered. "You really are a great Trainer! I know! As my thanks, I'll give you a Great Ball!" He then reaches into his lab coat and pulls out a blue and white Pokeball with two red stripes on top, and hands it to Conner.
"Thanks. Didn't know Pokeballs came in different colors." Conner replied, putting the Pokeball into his bag.
"Oh yes! Young man! Please come with me!" The Researcher said before leading Conner to a large ornate, rustic building with lots of windows and two large statues of what appeared to be fossilized creatures outside the entrance. "This won't be long, right? I have to get ready for a big day tomorrow." Conner sighed.
"It won't young man, please follow me." He said, opening the door, holding it for Conner.
Inside there were tons of other researchers rummaging about, with a few partner Pokémon assisting. Conner also noticed many different pieces of machinery and rock samples, and even a counter saying Fossil Restoration. Conner continued to follow the Researcher through the crowd, then going up a rustic staircase to the highest floor.
"This is the top floor of the Devon Corporation. Our president's office is on this floor. I can't tell you how grateful I am for what you've done for our company. Could you wait here just a moment?" The Researcher said, before running off down the hall.
"Sure I guess." Conner said, standing alone with Nova sitting on his shoulder.
Barely a minute passed before the Researcher came running back. "Our president would like to have a word with you. Please come with me! He said, almost out of breath.
Conner then followed the Researcher once more down the hallway before coming to a large ornate double door. "Please go ahead." The Researcher said, opening the door and gesturing to Conner to enter.
Conner felt a slight sense of suspicion, but overcame it and went inside. He was greeted by many glass displays of artifacts and fossils Conner had never seen before, before walking up to a large mahogany desk with an older gentleman with wild white hair and a deep purple suit.
"I'm Mr. Stone, the president of the Devon Corporation. I heard just now how we have quite a bit to thank you for. So you helped out my staff not just once, but twice! There's a favor I'd like to ask of a reliable trainer like you."
Conner folded his arms, and sighed.
"Now I want you to know I'm a president you can trust. I'd never be so mean to ask a favor for nothing in return." Mr. Stone continued, getting Conner to unfold his arms and pick his interest.
"Do you have a PokeNav?" Mr. Stone asked.
"What's a PokeNav?" Conner asked back, getting a shocked reaction from Mr. Stone, who then quickly digs into a drawer on the right in his big desk.
"Here, have a PokeNav Plus, on me. Although I just need to add something to it, one moment." He said, hooking it to his computer and downloading a file onto it. The download took about 30 seconds, then Mr. Stone handed Conner the upgraded PokeNav Plus. "The function that I just added to your PokeNav Plus is called BuzzNav. It is an indispensable tool for any Trainer who is traveling out in the world. Use it, and you'll be able to get the latest news from around the region and from your own friends, anytime and anyplace".
"So basically a cellphone." Conner said, pocketing the mobile device.
"A cell-phone? I've never heard of that. I'll research this later!" Mr. Stone said, writing the word "sell fone" on a nearby sticky note. "Now let me get to the important issue of what it is that I need you to do… I want you to deliver a letter to a man named Steven, you should find him in Dewford." Mr. Stone said, grabbing a elegant scroll from a drawer behind the desk on the left.
"Wait, where's Dewford?" Conner asked.
"You'll have to cross the sea to reach Dewford, of course. I'll ask Mr. Briney, the old sailor who lives in that hut on Route 104 to help with the crossing. Go find him, and he should agree to help you."
"I was actually going to meet him in the morning. He's giving me a ride to Mossdeep". Conner replied.
"Great! Dewford will be on the way, provided you head south". Mr. Stone said, putting a briefcase on his desk, opening it and throwing in various documents from his desk, as well as the sticky note. "I'm counting on you young man!" Mr. Stone said, before handing Conner the elegant scroll. "If you're ever unsure of what to do, just come and talk with me again!"
Conner nodded in agreement, before turning around and heading down the halls, down the stairs, and through the crowd of scrambling scientists.
"Raltssss" Nova yawned, resting her small head into Conner's neck.
"We'll be calling it a night soon, Nova." Conner said, petting the Ralts lightly.
The two soon arrived at the Pokémon Center, seeing Nurse Joy behind her desk, deep into a PokéFreak magazine. She quickly drops the articles as Conner walks through the glass door. "H-hi welcome to the Pokec-".
"It's me, I'm back." Conner said, walking up to her desk.
"Oh. Okay. Well welcome back! What can I do for you?" She said, sitting back down.
"Just want to restore my Pokémon, and grab a room for the night." Conner said, recalling Nova to her ball, then grabbing Pyro's ball and handing them to the nurse. She then unceremoniously place them onto the healing machine and pressing a button, activating the machine and restoring Conner's Pokémon. She then hands him the Pokeballs before grabbing a keycard from underneath her desk. "I'm sure you've been here long enough to know how to find your room." Nurse Joy winked as she handed him the keycard.
After settling into his room for the night and grabbing food for his Pokémon, Conner released them both so they could rest comfortably in the Pokémon beds. Conner had to find a slightly larger bed for Pyro now, as Nova happily munched away, Pyro stands leaning against the wall with its arms crossed, not even looking at its food.
"Pyro, you have to eat. If you don't, Nova will eat it first". Conner joked, pointing at Nova, who now lay slouched by her bowl with a very full belly.
"Combusk". Pyro scoffed, turning its head away from Conner.
"Why are you acting like this?! Did I do something?" Conner said, now standing in front of the Young Fowl Pokémon.
"Combusken!" Pyro screeched, flailing its arms in anger.
"Well I'm sorry! I didn't ask to be here, and honestly I'm not exactly sure what I am here, on top of my other problems back home!" Conner exclaimed, before sitting onto the bed. "Look, I know I'm not the easiest person to work with, but I'm trying. I haven't been here long, and this world of Pokémon is very… different for me, but I'm still trying. I just hope you are too, Pyro." Conner said, before laying down. "Good night guys, we have a boat to catch in the morning." Conner said as he pulled over the sheets and turned off the light.
After a few minutes, Conner could hear a soft pecking followed by voracious eating as the moon rose high in the sky above the city skyline through the Pokecenter's window.
"I guess some things don't change." Conner thought, as he could hear Pyro licking the bowl clean, scraping the bottom with its beak, then plopping into the Pokémon bed, knocked out.
Conner then pulled out the PokeNav Plus to check out its features before seeing the date on screen.
"It's June 4th?!! There's no way! Either this is broken or I went through space and backwards in time!". Conner exclaimed, pressing buttons all over to refresh, but no avail.
And that's it for this Chapter! I almost kept writing, but I stopped here. So let's knock a few points out the park.
I actually didn't originally intend on Pyro evolving so quickly, but with how the game was originally written for Exp encounters/trainer battles, it's actually surprisingly hard to not have gotten to required level for evolution with only two Pokémon by the time a player receives the BuzzNav.
-Janice was technically the only non-avoidable trainer on Route 116, so by game logic, he would still have to face her in battle even if he's trying to do crime fighting. (I really don't get why the game forces you into battles even though you're trying to stop someone from stealing. Sure he was cornered, but that shouldn't change the sense of urgency) Conner easily could super leap around everything, but if he doesn't land somewhere clear, he'll probably land on something that doesn't want to be landed on…
-Officer Jenny of Rustboro is a very interesting Jenny of interest, as she's barely decent at her job (at least based off research and watching the episodes she appeared in specific) as she was always a step or two behind Team Aqua's plans, and while granted Team Aqua in the series and Team Aqua in ORAS are two very different teams, if they could get past her in the series, then in the games, she would've had to been horrible at her job for an in-game Grunt to escape, especially since after the Player (in ORAS) defeats the Team Aqua/Magma Grunt in Rustdurf Tunnel, they quite literally casually walk out of the cave as if nothing had happened, and we all know the Boy Of Steel would've not just let that happen.
-The "important letter" was actually in game a envelope, but I wrote it as a scroll to seem extra important lol. Oh and hopefully Mr. Stone won't try and sue whoever invented the cell-phone haha.
The rest y'all will read and have explained shortly, I can't give away everything… yet. But I hope y'all enjoyed this Chapter and more to come! :)
