It was morning, and I never felt so nervous...I think? I can't be afraid to ask for help, but what if he refuses? So many 'what if's coming at me, until a certain robot decided to snap out of my frantic thoughts.
"Hedgehog-"
With a huff "I have a name, can you please call me by it? It's Aqua."
He was silent until he nodded.
"Very well...Aqua, you better get things ready if we need to get that fire Orb healed. Come, knowing the Doctor he will find us sooner or later."
I stared at him in shock, is he-
"A-are you saying, you want to help me...?"
"Of course, if it causes that man trouble...I'll enjoy getting my payback for trying to take my freedom away." He raises his right clawed hand closing it into a tight fist.
I felt happy, I have help! I quickly found the stuff I had on me, which wasn't much. And we started walking towards the Volcano where the Crystal Fire Orb was hidden. I tried having a conversation with Metal but it was very difficult, he mostly ignores me or just tells me to shut up saying he may be helping me but he's not being my 'friend'.
It hurt, but I didn't give up. When we were taking a break, we stopped at the start of the way up the volcano, I tried to talk to him hoping I can at least get him to speak to me.
"So...when Dr. Eggbutt created you for the first time, how did you fight against the code he programmed you to be his loyal slave?"
"..."
My ears deflated, I look down at my charm bracelet with all but one Crystal Orb. I sadly look at the crack fire Orb, remembering that it was the worst day ever in losing it to Eggman. I lay my other hand over the charm bracelet closing my eyes, hoping this healing will heal the Fire's wounds and I just hope...the Fire Orb will forgive me for losing him to such a monster like Dr. Eggman.
"LaDy...AqUa..."
Eyes snap open with a gasp eyes widen feeling it, not noticing Metal was watching me closely.
"LaDy A...qUa... HeLp..."
"F-Flare...?" I mumbled softly.
I clench my fists, narrowed my eyes in determination I will save Flare. Ignoring Metal, for now, I took off running fast- not fast as Sonic but fast enough I finally was standing at the same spot I lost Flare. I brought out the Fire Crystal Orb into its bigger form, laying it on its stand in its shrine. I step back.
"Undine! Come forth! Heal Flare! Gaia! Come forth and help Undine heal Flare!" I called out closing my eyes, letting the power flow through my body.
I open my eyes seeing Undine and Gaia floating near the shrine sending their healing powers to Flare. I hope this works, please...whatever God above please hear my prayer. Undine and Gaia stopped, making me nervous they flew over to me.
"You did an amazing job Mistress! It's thanks to you that we saved Flare in time, but all he needs is you." I blink when Undine said that, me?
"Me? How can I help Flare? I-I thought you can save him..."
"Nope, all we had to do is heal his wounds. You Mistress must purify the darkness inside him..."
I look at Gaia then at Undine in disbelief, me? I...how!?
"B-but how?! I have no powers! I only can use these powers, cause of you two, Frost, Windy, Light, and Darkness! I'm just some normal Hedgehog-."
"Ugh! Just shut up brat! Didn't I told you before!? 'We chose you'! Tch, damn brat."
I jump, eyes widen seeing Frost appear with a slight chilly air that came with him, he was glaring at me with his silver cold eyes. But then I remembered what he called me.
"My name isn't 'brat' Frost, please kindly call me by name." I calmly but kindly told him.
"Hmph...whatever, brat."
Gaia flew to my face making me focus my eyes on her, she smiled at me and put her tiny hand against my muzzle.
"What Frost is 'really' trying to say is; The person doesn't get chosen to use our powers Lady Aqua, 'we' see through their heart and very soul when they do the test."
My eyes widen more in realization. "So when I do those tests from you all...you were testing if my heart was..." I trailed off in disbelief.
Gaia nodded "Correct, Lady Aqua. But the other reason why we picked you is we waited for an eternity for you to find us...we prayed you to find us and use us to protect both worlds one that belongs to humans here, and the world Sonic and his friends live in."
"But...why me? I know you all been waiting for me, and you choose me...but, why did I turn into a Hedgehog, with no memories? Wh-what's my purpose Gaia? It's causing me so much pain knowing I have no purpose here." I don't know why, but tears were streaming down my muzzle.
"Lady Aqua...hmph! I swear that child should just tell you!" Gaia has her hands on his hips.
"G-Gaia?"
She sighs sadly "Sorry Lady Aqua, but none of us can't tell you it's too soon I'm afraid. But...I hope you'll realize it, and then you'll finally be who you truly are."
"Stop hinting to the damn brat, Gaia!" Frost growled out arms cross against his buff chest.
Gaia huffs, sent a small glare his way. "I hate to admit it, but Frost is right. But know we'll 'always' be by your side, your never alone Lady Aqua. Now go forth to Flare's Crystal Orb and lay your hand upon his orb."
I bit my tongue, wanted to beg her for more information but I knew something was holding them back. I guess I have to figure things out myself, with a single nod to myself I walk pass Gaia, Frost, and Undine standing at the small shrine of Flare. I raised my hand over the Fire Crystal Orb and slowly let my right glove hand touch the orb which right when my hand touched it, it started to flicker on and off slowly, then it started to build up flickering faster it started to glow brighter, and warmer.
I yelp covered my eyes with my free hand when the light was too bright.
"Y-you finally did it!"
I uncovered my eyes, my eyes widen in surprise to see another tiny form. He was floating with flames that surround the bottom of his bare feet, he has tan skin, orange-red messy hair, and orange-amber eyes. But that didn't make my heart almost stop, it was Shino! But why was he so tiny like Gaia and the others!?
"S-sorry Lady Aqua... P-please don't be mad at me!"
I inhaled sharply, but let out a breath softly I have to be calm...
"F-Flare? Or do I call you Shino?"
"I-I'm both...I always have been Shino, but when we awaken we turn back to our true form which is what you see."
Frowning, what? I was starting to feel a headache, but I push the pain away.
"What do you mean? You're my little brother, and what happened to mom?" I was trying to think, remember...anything! But a stabbing pain smashes in my mind, I cried out in pain gripping my head falling to my knees.
"Lady Aqua!"
I heard Shino- Flare's shouts in worry and fear until darkness took me away.
~~Sssshhhh~~ ~~Crackle, crackle~~
A woman with long brown hair but long in the front but shorter from her back, with blue eyes, wearing a purple dress, standing in front of a light and dark shrine. She bends down on her knees, clasps her hands in a prayer eyes closed.
"Oh, Elemental Spirits of the Crystal Orbs. I beg you...save this soul...save my baby! Save my little girl...I have known your kind served, and protected your brothers and sisters...this is all I want in return." Tears roll down her cheeks.
The shrine suddenly gave off a dark and bright light on the shrine until there stood two forms: all white, the other black, but the white has silver eyes, and the dark figure has yellow eyes.
"Stella, protector of our brothers and sisters...we can save her, but in doing so we have to give little Aqua a mission when it's her time." The white form spoke up first gently.
"I understand...Just save my baby girl, I'll return as my role and help my little girl."
"Tch, I think the damn brat is going to be annoying. But, oh well." The dark form responded with a snarky, cocky, but cruel tone.
The woman snaps her eyes at Darkness, eyes narrowed dangerously.
"I respect all of you and your sibling's Darkness, but I will NOT stand back and you disrespect my child! So do well in knowing your place!" She growls out in a warning tone, and it made Darkness tense up until she got back feeling in her form, looking away arms cross pouting.
"Yeah, yeah..."
"Now, sadly we have to remove two things...her human form, and most of all her memories. I'm afraid if we keep her memories intact when she awakens it'll overwhelm her and it'll kill her, or she'll go mad. But sadly for me and Darkness to do all this...we need to use lots of power even with my and Darkness powers it's not enough."
"...So you need to use my powers, correct?" Both forms nods. "Very well, take as much of my powers as you need."
Both forms walk over and then-
~~Sssshhhh~~ ~~Crackle, crackle~~
Eyes snap open, sitting up fast gasping for air coughing. I jump when I felt a warm metal hand touch my shoulder, but felt relax seeing it was just Metal he was on one knee. I realized I was on the ground?
"H-how long...how long was I out...?" I mumbled, still confused about what I saw.
"You were out for five hours, and thirty-five minutes, and ten seconds."
I nodded, then look at him in shock.
"I-I've been asleep for the whole night!?" I shrieked out in shock.
"Hn, it's nothing wrong with that. But whatever happened worked, that Fire Crystal Orb is healed." He pointed out pointing at my wrist.
I look at my wrist to see the Fire Crystal Orb was truly in its place! Feeling relief I sighed out, everything was going to be okay I was going to save both worlds. I yelp when the whole place started to rumble and shake, I felt arms pulled me close I didn't think much about it and cling to that warmth and safe arms. It stopped finally, opening my eyes and I didn't know why but...my cheeks grew hot, why you may ask? Metal was holding me protectively and it felt so much right, I fit into his arms.
I snap out of the odd thoughts when he pulled away walking outside.
"Come, it seems the Doctor found us."
I nodded following him to see Eggman was waiting for us at the bottom of the volcano.
"Hohoho! It seems you still have a free well Metal Sonic, hmph...I'll just have to change that and make sure I destroy that damn program for good! Eggbots! Destroy that failure, but bring me the hedgehog! Hohoho!"
I was going to step forward to give him a piece of my mind, but a metal arm stops me. My eyes widen seeing Metal was stopping me? His other hand was flat against his chest glaring at Eggman.
"I will not allow that Doctor..."
"Oh? May I play tell 'why' protect that hedgehog, hm? You're my robot, I program you to destroy for my wishes! What makes that hedgehog so special."
"...Hmph, simple-" I gasp, hands went on my mouth when he suddenly disappeared but behind Eggman who was sitting in that egg shape small ship thing surprising Eggman himself. "She was the only one that even 'cared' for what 'I' wanted, she reminded me I serve no one but myself...so I will protect Aqua The Hedgehog until my very core is destroyed."
I watched in surprise, and shock, eyes wide watching Metal Sonic destroying every single Eggbots and destroying Eggman's ship thingy he was sitting in sending him away, swearing for revenge like always.
I step forward to ask if he was okay but he fell to one knee.
"Metal!" I was on my knees at his side, worried. "Are you injured!?"
"No...it seems I'm running low on energy, my backup the Doctor gave me before I was set free, it's 20% now..."
"Do you know what kind of energy he uses? Maybe we can find some-"
"No, the Doctor used a certain kind of power source to power me up."
"What is it? I need to know if I can help."
"...Let's go, your friends will be worried."
"Metal..." I wanted to fight him, get him to tell me but he's a very stubborn and persistent robot.
I just want to know what I saw in that memory, did my mother give up her life or...how does she know the Crystal Orb Elementals? I'm so confused, but I know for a fact I'll call out Light and Darkness when back to my friend's place and get to the bottom of this once and for all, but I just hope what I'll find...would it be worth it? Would I still be...me?
