Chapter 96 Adventures in Turtle Sitting

A large snowstorm did in fact hit, dropping at least four feet of snow, which caused us to miss a few days of school. Alex was over the moon about it of course. Mom was working in a conference on the importance of the Greek myths, up in Boston. Both of us were in comfy oversize sweaters, sweatpants, and socks. Ready for a night in of movie marathon with hot chocolate and warm cookies.

"Ready for the marathon?" I asked.

"What do you think?" Alex asked curled up on the sofa with a large oversize blanket.

Sitting next to her and pulled up the remote, right as a knock on the window, alerting us, and turned to see the Guys in Bishop's monster hunting gear. We shared a look and let the Guys in.

"Hey Guys," I said. "What's up?"

Looking to see that Guys were in the hunting gear apart from Don who was nowhere in the sight.

"Sorry, Alex, Tabs but we're on our way to a possible mutant outbreak at the power plan and…" Leo said as a large and loud sneeze sounded as Don appeared, looking worst for wear.

"Don, you don't look so good," Alex said.

Giving Alex a look.

"Ignore her," I said moving to help him in. "Come on your pale and sweaty."

"I know," Don replied weakly blowing his nose. "I picked up this little bug and I haven't been able to shake it, I was feeling alright but I just can't handle mutants right now."

"Did you figure that out before or after you barfed in the battle shell?" Mikey questioned.

"Mikey!" Raph growled and slapped him on the back of the head.

"Ow!" Mikey cried.

"Adults are talking," Raph said. "Could you Guys keep an eye on Donnie for us?"

We shared a look and nodded.

"Of course Don can stay here," I said.

"Don't worry about it," Alex added with a smile. "How did it goes with Bishop's monster hunting?"

"It's going." Raph

"How is the plan with that clean-up with all of the mutants in Manhattan?" I asked.

"Well no this outbreak is way more than four turtles can handle," Leo said. "We're just trying to keep it from spreading."

"Well good luck," Alex said. "Kick some mutant butt and take names."

She reached over and kiss Raph on the cheek, which he smirked at her.

"Thanks for the vote of confidence and the good luck kiss, babe," Raph said.

Don was warped up in blankets, dirty tissues were laying in a trash bin. Alex is currently in the kitchen making up some soup. Gently tapping his forehead with a wet towel.

"Don, how long have you been like this?" I asked.

"I was fine before but it was all a sudden and now it feels like the flu." Don coughed.

"Don't push yourself, Don," I reasoned gently. "You need to rest."

"Ah, ah, coo" Don sneeze.

"Bless you!" Both Alex and I yelled out.

Alex came out carrying a bowl of steaming soup.

"Here trying to get a little of it down," She said carefully handing it over to Don. "It should help."

"Thanks, Alex," Don coughed nonstop, before taking a sip of the soup.

It seemed that He was enjoying it at least.

"It sucks that you're still under the weather." She said offering a bittersweet smile.

"Can you get some crackles for him?" I asked.

"Sure," She said walking away.

"I'm sorry that you feel like this Don," I said gently tapping his forehead. "We're going to have you back up to kicking ninja butts in no time."

"Thanks, Tabs," Don said weakly offering a small and weak smile. "Thank you."

"Don't worry about it love," I said offering my smile "Just rest now."

Alex quietly came holding the crackles.

"Here this might help you to keep something in your guts." She said

"Thanks, Alex," I said taking the crackles.

Don was laying down, covered in blankets with a wet towel to help cool him down, yet Don wasn't getting better.

"Maybe we should call in a healer," Alex suggested.

"They wouldn't believe that Don isn't a kindly one." I reasoned.

Don shot up and coughed violently before shaking with chills and sweats.

"Don?" I questioned.

Right as the electrical in the apartment cut out, bathing us in darkness.

"I swear that Mikey caused this," Alex muttered.

"Don?" I questioned

No responded. A blood-curdling cry rips through the apartment.

"Alex, Tabs!" Don cried out.

A fireball appeared and float where Don was only to find a thrown blanket, both of his shoulders and knee pads were ripped apart. A large figure appeared.

"Help me!" It cried.

Seeing a mutated version of Don, His bloody was puffed up, his eyes were blood red, yet his bandage was still on.

"Don?" I questioned not believing what I was seeing.

"Stay," He growled. "Stay away from me."

He pushed and ran past us and ran from the apartment and jumped from the balcony.

We shared a look and ran after him.

"What's happening to Don?" Alex asked as we ran after him.

Running through a shadow portal to appear in the courtyard, dressed in winter gear. My phone when off, pulling it out and answer.

"What?" I questioned running after Don's large footprints.

"What was that roar of pain?" Ava's voice yelled through the phone.

"Don't worry about it," I said. "But stay in the house right now."

Hanging up and keep giving chase.

"Don!" I yelled.

"Donatello?" Alex questioned.

"Don you need to come out," I said. "We need to make sure your alright."

Racing after the footsteps, a large hulking figure appeared in the shadows.

"Don?" I questioned.

It looked like a prehistorical dinosaur, two-legged standing one.

"Donny?" Alex questioned weapon at the ready as just in case.

The hulking figure turned to see what look like a prehistorical creature with blood-red eyes. Razor-sharp teeth.

"Don?" We questioned, "What happened?"

He roared in response.

"Don?" I questioned.

He roared and ran at us.

"Move," Alex ordered, she grab and pull me away. "Move."

He ran after us, we jump up into the tree. He roared and jump up at us, before starting to climb.

"Move," I ordered.

Climbing up faster, as he followed after us, He grabbed Alex's leg.

"Ow, let me go." She growled.

Pulling at a branch and had a pile of snow crash on him, making him fall back on the ground with a loud thud.

Looking down at him, still not believing what I was seeing.

"What is happening?" I asked.

"We have to keep him contained somehow," Alex replied. "Or keep him from harming someone else."

"How do you propose we do that?" I questioned.

"Try talking to him," She said back. "He is your boyfriend."

"He is a mutated version of himself," I said. "He's not going to listen to reason."

"Well try," She said. "I'm going to call Leo."

Glancing down to see that the mutated version of Don was up and moving heading back to the apartment.

Jumping down from the tree.

"Don!" I yelled. "You need to stop this!"

He stops, turning to face me. His red eyes watched my every move. "Don please stop this."

He roared and ran towards me.

Bracing myself for the impact which didn't happen, looking to see Alex in front of me with a shadow wall protecting me as monster Don banged on the wall trying to break it.

"I thought I told you to talk to him, "She groaned pushing more energy into the wall. "Leo and the Guys are on their way."

She turned to face me before monster Don broke through the wall. He slammed into Alex sending her flying into a tree. Where she crashed into the ground and didn't move.

"Alex?" I questioned.

He roared rushing at me before stopping short and straight at me with keen interest. "Don I know your in there please stop this."

He roared once again about to strike,

"Whoa!" Hearing Raph shout broke me from my fear. " Hey freaky monster! Didn't you hear what the lady said?" He flipped and send monster Don away from me, making him crash to the ground.

"You Guys all right?" Mikey asked.

Monster Don looked up at us, roaring at us.

"What the Shell is that?" Raph asked.

Monster Don roared and jump, tracking Raph to the ground and easily flipped him up. As Leo reacted and kicked him down, getting Raph free. Monster Don looked at us, gave one more roar, and ran off. The Guys gave chase. Rushing over to Alex's form.

"Alex?" I questioned shaking her shoulders.

"Hey," She said weakly before pushing herself up. "He is bloody strong."

The Guys came back to us.

"What was that thing?" Leo asked.

"And Where's Don?" Raph asked.

"Did that Monster get Don?" Mikey demanded.

"Guys that was Don," I said helping Alex up.

"Say what?" Mikey asked.

"The thing you just fought is Don," I said.

The Guys look at us in shock.

"Yes it was Don," Alex replied.
"We need to talk to Leatherhead," Leo said.

Heading down to Leatherhead lair, it seemed that he had decorated it well.

"So anything you can tell us Leatherhead?" Leo asked.

"Fascinating," Leatherhead said. "The tissue sample from Donatello's bandage contains the same alien DNA found in the strange mutated creatures you've been battling of late."

"You mean Don's been infected by the outbreak mutagen?" Leo asked.

"Yes in Donatello's case it's triggered a secondary mutation in Donatello's already mutated DNA," Leatherhead said. "What I can't understand is how this agent was introduced into Donatello's bloodstream?"

Alex and I shared a look, instancing knowing where.

"I think I know remember when we were fighting mutants when the outbreak first occurred, That's it Don got a nasty gash when we were fighting those mutated roaches remember," Leo said.
"I regret to say I…I…I cannot cure him." Leatherhead said.

"What?" Mikey asked. "No!"

"Man I gonna take Bishop and ram my foot so far up," Raph growled.

"That is easy Raph," Leo said.

"Get in line Raph," Alex growled.

"We'll find a cure," Leo said. "But first we've got to capture Don before he hurts himself or anyone else."

"And just how are we going to capture a 300-pound killer turtle?" Raph asked.

Leatherhead revealed a containment unit that was sealed and ready to be used.

"As you know Donatello and I have been working together developing ways to neutralize Bishops mutant threat," He said. "We engineered this containment unit to incarcerate and study larger mutations. I made this with Donatello, I never imagined we would be using it on Donatello."

"I understand Leatherhead," I said. "But we need to get him and keep him safe."

Leatherhead gave me a gentle smile and nod of his head.

Headed down to the sewers to find Don, the Guys wanted us to go back topside.

"That's not happening," I argued. "I love Don and I need and want to help so don't even think that I'm walking away."

"Where Tabs goes," Alex said. "I go."

"Fine," Leo said. "But if it gets out of hand you get out of here."

"Fine." We replied.

Walking through the sewers, looking for Don. We follow Leo who was tracking Don.

"He heading towards Central Park," Leo said. "He's going home. Come on,"

We took off running, towards the Lair. "We're coming up on the lair, and Don is close. Real close. Someone will we need to lure him to us while we set up the containment unit."

We all look at Mikey.

"I'll do it," I said at once. "He seems to relax for me. So let me do it."

"Tabs no," Leo said.

Giving Leo a look and walked ahead of him.

"Let me do it, Don will come to me if I call him trust me." I reasoned.

"What if?" Leo questioned.

"I will shift and run like Hades." I reasoned.

"Fine," Leo said.

Walking ahead of him into the sewer.

"Don you need to come out now!" I called.

Taking a breath and try to smell him. Getting a smell of body odor. "Donnie!"

A roar sounded on the other side of the sewer. Monster Don appeared, we shared a look.

"Don please we want to help you," I said.

He roared and ran towards me, jumping out of the way of Monster Don, and took off running with him chasing me, jumping up to an upper sewer. Monster Don jump up through the hole and he ran after me. I could see the containment unit insight. I kept running and jump onto the top of the containment unit. Monster Don kept racing after me.

"Don you need to stop this and get in the unit now," I ordered.

"Whoa, Mama Don's been taking his vitamins," Raph said.

Monster Don slammed on the unit, making me start to lose my footing.

"Whoa," I cried falling back and landing on the ground. "Ow."

"I'm sorry about this Donny," Raph said.

Raph jump in and started to fight to get Don into the unit, with Leo behind him.

"Remember," Leo said. "This is Don, do not hurt him."

Raph opened out of the way

"That's not gonna be a problem, Leo," Raph said.

Don roared out, Leo landed a kick, which sent Don to the ground, Raph landed a kick, which sent Don closer to the unit.

"Leather Head, and Alex you're up!" Leo yelled.

Leatherhead and Alex appeared, Leatherhead tackle and lifted Monster Don and started to push him in, Monster Don started to snap at Leatherhead. Alex started to swing her fingers with a muzzle appearing on his face.

"Sorry Don," Alex said. "But we can't have you biting people."

Leatherhead started to push him into the unit and got him in.

The Guys pushed the door shut, Alex's fingers moved and the muzzle left. He fought to break free which didn't work.

We look sadly at him, as he tried to break free.

We brought him back to Leatherhead lair and looked sadly at him. Master Splinter meets us there. He looked mournfully at Don.

"My son," Master Splinter said mourning for his son.

"I can sympathize," Leather Head said. "I know what it's like to be a monster."

"Poor Donny," Raph said laying a hand on Master Splinter's shoulder.

"What are we gonna do Leo?" Mikey asked.

"Do this is Donatello," Leo said. "This is our brother we're going to hunt down a cure for him no matter what it takes no matter what it takes."

Looking at Donny, fighting back tears that wanted to come out.

"We will fix you, Donnie," I said and looking at him, and allowed the tears to come out. "We will fix you."

A hand was placed on my shoulder looking up to see Master Splinter. We both shared a look.
