Sheldon's pov:
"Good morning Belle Mia. " I said attempting to sound Italian as I read the word in the book while Amy entered the kitchen still tired.
"Still trying to speak Italian ?" Amy said with a smile as she stood between Leo,who was sitting next to me, and me.
"Sì." I said with a smile as I felt I accomplished something while I kissed her cheek then she made her way to sit next to Leo.
"That's spanish you idiot not Italian. " Georgie, who was sitting next to Missy as she sat on the other side of me, said.
"Dear brother of mine. I think you are the real idiot. Sì is also yes in Italian. Please go pick up a book at some point in your life. "
"Hey what did I say about using the word idiot around here. If one of you say idiot again I will take you over my knee in front of everyone. " My mom said sternly as she cooked.
Missy started laughing as she sipped her coffee."I am so glad you two can bicker with each other so I don't have to anymore . You both are tiring. "
"That's because no one would like to talk to you unless they have to. " Georgie said.
"Are you calling me a charity project ? Anyone will be lucky to talk to me. " Missy said insulted.
"That's true. The fact that she is talking to right now Georgie is absolutely priceless. She is worth talking to . You are just jealous people would choose talking to her over you any day. " Amy said standing up for Missy.
"Thank you Ames. At least somebody can see a true worth of something. "
"So Amy you would really choose talking to her over me ?" Georgie said giving his flirtatious smile with his dreamy eyes that all girls seemed to love.
"Just stop flirting with my wife. Just because no girl wants you doesn't mean you get to try with my wife hoping she would feel sympathy for you. You see a ring on that finger so try to and you will lose your fingers. "
"Ouch Georgie you hear that ? No girl wants you. " Missy said laughing.
"I have had more girlfriends than Sheldon. He has only had one and married her. " Georgie said.
"First off I dated no one because education came first and look where that got me and you can't tell spanish from Italian. Second at least I found the person I was meant to spend the rest of my life with at first try instead of still looking after 50 girlfriends. " I said.
"He excels at everything even finding the love of his life. " Amy said as she looked at me with a smile.
"Okay shut up this isn't fun anymore. " Georgie said getting annoyed as we all laughed.
"I apologize Amy that you have to put up with them. " My mom said.
"Don't be . I wish I could have a sibling that is annoying but I love them anyway. " Amy said with a smile but there was a sadness in it.
"Well I am sorry you didn't get a sibling like that but you did get a husband that fits that. " Missy said looking at me.
"Now I understand why she wanted to marry you Sheldon. It is because you are annoying. " Georgie said smiling looking at me,happy the tables turned.
Before I could say something Leo got my attention.
"Daddy I solved them. " He said handing me his book.
I took it and checked the answers.
"Leo if I have 8 apples and you take away 5 how many will I have ?" I asked.
He frowned counting on his fingers now then smiled as he got the answer," 3 apples. " He said proud of his achievement.
"That's correct my boy. You did well. You got them all right. " I said so proud of him.
" I got them right mommy. I got them Right." He said to Amy now showing his work.
"That is amazing sweetie. Are you going to be smarter than daddy one day ?" She asked with a sparkle in her eye as she looked at Leo which seemed to make me smile more.
"I am already smarter than daddy." He said as if it were a fact.
"Woah woah let's not get ahead of ourselves here. You are smart Leo but you still have a long way to go to be smarter than me but you will get there don't worry. " I said.
Everyone laughed now.
" But I can tell you something. You are already smarter than Uncle Georgie. " I said laughing.
"How dumb do you think I am Sheldon. That your 5 year old son would be smarter than me. " Georgie said insulted.
"Okay I am cutting this conversation before you tell each other that you are stupid. You guys aren't stupid and Leo I am proud of you. So so proud . You are so smart. Missy and Georgie when is your flight leaving tommorow?" My mom asked changing the subject.
"Thank you meemaw. " Leo said smiling .
"You can go play with your trains now if you want before breakfast. Only if you have brushed your teeth. " I said.
"I have daddy. " He said smiling wide showing his pearly white teeth.
"That's a good boy go play now I will call you for breakfast. "
He jumped off the chair and grabbed his train conductor hat as he put it on,"Whoo Whoo" he said pretending a invisible chain in sync.
Amy laughed now," He really is your son. " She said with a big smile as she watched him run off into the other room. I felt so happy I was here for that. For them.
"He is our son. " I said holding her hand as she sat next to me.
"We are leaving tomorrow late afternoon. " Missy said answering my mom's question.
"Please don't forget to take Georgie with you Missy. He is one thing you can't forget. " I said.
"You are going to miss me brother admit it. " Georgie said.
"In your dreams maybe. "
He brought me closer with his one arm and ruffled my hair as he started laughing.
"Georgie you are the most annoying person I have ever met. " I said trying to fix my hair.
"Back at ya brother. " He said pretend shooting me as he winked.
"And you Amy ? When is your pregnancy scan today ? " My mom asked trying to change the topic as she rolled her eyes looking at us but I could see her fighting off a smile.
" At around 2 or 3 in the afternoon. We have to leave work early to get there ? But we get to find out the gender so we are excited. We are finding out differently this time than last time because Leo wants to come with so we will find out there. " Amy said.
"Aww we want to find out with you guys to. " Missy said pouting.
"Sorry Missy we made a promise to Leo. " Amy said.
"We will tell you right after. " I said trying to cheer her up.
"But I want to find out with you. "
"Why don't I invite all your friends here for lunch and then when you are there you can call me and I will put it on speaker so we can find out with you. " My mom said passing Amy and Missy their food.
"They will be at work. They won't get off early to do that. " I said.
"Actually you are wrong. They all said yes. " Missy said smiling as she shook her phone.
"So it is done. This is happening. " My mom said passing Georgie and me our food.
Before I could argue with her she called for Leo now," Leo come get your breakfast please. " .
"I guess we are sharing this with them then . " I said to Amy as I rolled my eyes with a small smile.
"Did you really think we wouldn't ? This is our family. I couldn't imagine a better way of doing this. " She said with a huge smile as she held my hand tighter.
"Yeah but your doctor will think we are weird. "
"Well we are weird but that's what I love the most about us. " She said laughing.
"You are amazing Amy. " I said in amazement on how she is able to find the good in everything.
"I know. " She said taking another bite of food which made me chuckle.
Leo came running into the kitchen with his train conductor hat and sat next to Amy eating his food..
"Thank you meemaw. " Leo said eagerly digging in.
"No problem my baby. You just eat your food and enjoy it. " My mom said sitting next to Leo as she was eating her food also.
We ate in silence enjoying the food. I looked at my watch now to see how late it was.
"We are late Amy. We better get going. " I said.
"Okay let's go then. Goodbye Leo. Listen to everyone and be good. We will pick you up later. Enjoy your day off school." Amy said kissing his head .
"I still can't believe I agreed to that. " I said shaking my head.
"Let the poor boy have a break. " Missy said.
"Goodbye Leo. Be a good boy for us. We will see you later. " I said giving him a half hug as he was more interested in his food but as soon as I was about to let go he stopped eating to hug me with both arms as tight as he could. He then jumped off to hug Amy the same way.
"I will see you later" He said more as a question than a statement. He did this all the time. The first couple off days he refused to leave us even to sleep. He slept with us scared we would dissapear. He was improving slowly. He could sleep by himself again and tolerate being away from us for a certain amount of time. I hated seeing him so scared all the time. I hated that we were all still so scared.
"I will see you later. " Amy said so understanding as she looked at me hoping I could promise the same thing.
"We will see you later Leo" I said as I picked him up to hug him then placed him on the seat next to my mom as he continued eating.
"Goodbye everyone. We will talk later. " Amy said until we were both out the door.
As we were driving I tried to do the breathing exercises I was taught but the fear was still overwhelming. The images of the car crashing into me replayed constantly . I still couldn't sleep with the same image in my head everytime I close my eyes. I calculate the possibility of me dieing in my sleep if I close my eyes. I suddenly became so aware of death.
Everything I did required a calculation on how it could kill me. Everything scared me now so getting in a vehicle which almost tried to kill me wasn't exactly the best thing I wanted to do with my time. I knew I had to get over the fear but it has been a week and it is still here. How could I speed up this process. Amy and I agreed to have a Thursday Talking night. Where we both talk about our fears we faced or will face and talk about what we are going through with no judgement. It isn't exactly what I would like to do but it is the only way we can better. It is the only way I can get her to stop screaming and nightmares in her sleep.
She doesn't get much sleep either but she doesn't know I know that because then she would know I wasn't sleeping. I would always have to stop myself from crying everytime I had to hear her so distraught. I hated it. I hated all of this. I hated the car.
I tried to distract myself from the fact that I was in a car but I just seemed to find 5 more ways I could die from it than last time instead.
"It's okay Sheldon. Just breathe for me. Feel your heart beating. You are okay. You are going to be okay. " She said looking at me as she could probably see the fear on my face.
I felt my heart beating now. It was beating fast from panick and fear but it was beating. There was a beating heart there. I am okay. She is okay. We are okay. I kept reminding myself.
I was focusing on the equations on my board hoping I could solve something today until I heard a rather frantic knock on my door.
"Come in " I said focusing on the board again.
Amy opened it now in tears but she was relieved to see me. She looked horrified but her face turned to anger mixed with hurt once she saw me.
"Amy what's wrong?" I asked scared she or the twins were hurt.
"You . What is wrong with you? I called you a million times. " She said angry as it covered up the tears in her voice.
I looked at her confused to walk to my desk and open the draw as I pulled my phone out. There was 10 missed calls from her. 10. I rushed to her side like me being here now would help. I hated this. I hated that she was crying. I hated how scared she constantly was. I hated all of this.
"I'm so sorry Amy. I put my phone on silent to focus better. Im so sorry. I didn't mean to. I won't do that again. " I said trying to pull her into my arms but she pushed me away which left me hurt.
"Sheldon I thought something happened to you. I thought you died again. I thought I was going to get another call that my husband died and this time he was never coming back. Sheldon I can't keep feeling like this. I hate this. I hate that I can't breathe when you don't pick up your phone. I hate that when you aren't near me I wonder how long it will take to get that phone call. I hate this. " She said sitting on the chair next to the door as she cried into her hands.
"I'm sorry. I wish I could help you. I wish I could take this pain away more than anything Amy. I wish I didn't have to hear you scream in your sleep. I wish I could do something to make this better but I can't . I can try though I am here now. I'm sorry Amy. "
"You know about that ? About the nightmares? " She asked now.
"Of course I do Amy. It scares me. I hate it. It hurts me and the fact that I am the reason why is even worse. " I said trying not to cry.
"None of this is your fault Sheldon. Stop saying this was your fault. This was out of your control. You couldn't have done anything about this. " Amy said holding my hands in hers now reassuring me.
"You know it hurts me seeing you so afraid of cars. Watching you so terrified and I can't do anything about it. It hurts knowing you don't sleep properly at night because you still see the car crashing into you when you close your eyes. I hate that we are so sensitive with each other. Scared to trigger one of our fears. Like you are scared of the dark now. " She said holding my hands tighter.
"So you see it to. We aren't fooling each other in lying about what we are going through to protect each other. " I said.
"That's right because it builds more fears scared we aren't saying everything we are feeling that is why I want to do Thursday Talking night for this exact reason. I hate this Sheldon. I hate that this accident happened. " She said in tears.
"We will do Thursday Talking okay. I hate this to but we can hate this together. " I said holding out my hand to help her up as she laughed," I know we hate this accident happened but we can try make the most of it. ".
"How do we do that ?" She asked giving me her small smile.
"By knowing how much I love doing this. " I said having my one hand hold her cheek as I kissed her gently then smiled.
"Hmm you want to try that again I don't know if I love it yet." Amy said smiling.
I kissed her again to watch her smile which made me happy. I never wanted to see that beautiful smile fade ever.
"As much as I would love to do this a hundred times again we should go before we are late. We have to fetch Leo to. " Amy said coming back to reality.
We both left to the car while I held her hand. I felt extremely lucky to have her. She doesn't realize how lucky I am.
"Hello Amy . How are you doing today?" Her doctor asked with the biggest smile you could see as she entered the room.
" I am doing good thank you.I brought my husband and son Leonard who we call Leo here with me. " Amy said with a smile looking at both of us .
" Hello it is nice to finally meet you. " She said giving me the same smile she gave to Amy then looked at Leo who was holding my hand hiding behind my leg a little bit.
"Hello Leo. Are you ready to find out if you are having a sister or brother or both ?" She asked reaching down to his height.
He nodded with a smile," I am sure you are going to be the best big brother in the whole entire world. " She said before getting up straight again.
She walked back to Amy as she applied the cold gel on her stomach. I heard my phone ring which caused Amy to tense up a little but she relaxed once I told her it was my mom.
"Hello mom. Don't worry I didn't forget I will put you guys on speaker now. " I said hearing everyone talking over the phone.
"Sorry we have a family who loves to share everything with us. " I said to the doctor.
"No don't be I think it is cute. You can place the phone on the machine so they can hear more clearly if they like. " The doctor said.
"Thank you doctor. " Amy said smiling.
I placed the phone on the machine now.
"Can you hear us?" Penny asked.
"Yes Aunty Penny. " Leo said.
"Hello Leo. " My mom said happy to hear his voice.
"Hello meemaw. "
"Okay are we ready?" The doctor said after setting up the machine and was about to put the scanner on her stomach.
Everyone over the phone and in the room said in unison," yes".
The doctor rub the scanner in the gel until rapid heartbeats filled the room.
"What is that noise ?" Leo asked looking at me .
"That is the twins hearts beating Leo. The machine that the doctor is putting on mommy's stomach can help the doctor see the babies to see if they are okay and they pick up the sound of their heart beating. "
"Does that mean they are okay ?" He asked.
"Yes Leo it means they are okay. If you put your hand on your chest you can feel your heart beating and that's how you know you are okay . That you are going to be fine. "I said looking at Amy briefly who held my hand as I looked back at Leo.
Leo put his hand on his chest ," I can feel it daddy. I can feel my heart. " He said like he just found treasure.
"We hope you can. " I said with a laugh.
"The babies are doing good. They are looking healthy as can be. " The doctor said with a smile then grabbed the clipboard on the end of the bed as she checked it," Your blood pressure is a little high which we will need to keep an eye on and I would like you to relax. Try not get yourself to worked up. Otherwise it all looks good. " she said looking at Amy sternly and we both nodded.
"You ready to find out the gender ?" She asked looking at all of us now trying to cheer up the room again.
"We are already in suspense so hurry up. We need to know. " Missy said impatiently.
"Let the doctor do their job Missy. Be patient. " My mom said.
"Your family is amazing. " The doctor said with a laugh.
"Try sharing a womb with Missy and then let me know how you feel ." I said.
"Shut up Sheldon. You love me and you know it. " Missy said which sent everyone laughing now even the doctor.
"Okay so you guys are having... two daughters. Two little girls. Congratulations. " The doctor said dragging it along.
"They are girls. " Bernadette shouted which was met by cheering.
"You are going to have two sisters Leo. " Amy said in tears.
" I am going to have to give you a baseball bat Leo. " I said teasing.
"Why would I need a baseball bat? " He asked.
"Sheldon he is not going to need a baseball bat. " Amy said.
"Fine I will need it then. " I said.
"You don't know how to use it so go ahead and have one. " Amy said.
"I know how to use one. I can teach you Sheldon. " Missy said over the phone .
"Please do not give him ideas Missy. " Amy said.
"Do you want to see your sisters little one ?" The doctor said laughing.
Leo nodded and walked closer to her to see the machine. The doctor showed him which blobs were his sisters and he stared at it with amazement. He fell in love with looking at it. The doctor gave us all copies of the scan and extra. Leo had his one and just kept staring it, studying it. It made me happy how he was already the best brother ever and they weren't even born yet. Amy was looking at him to as she sat up. She looked at me now as I saw the tears in her eyes.
"You are not getting a baseball bat. " She mouthed with a giggle.
"Okay fine. " I mouthed with a smile.
"So how do you feel about this ?" The doctor asked.
"Happy. " Leo said with a big smile not leaving his eyes off the scan.
"What he said ." Amy said with a laugh as she held my hand now.
"Overwhelmingly grateful. " I said kissing her.
"Meemaw I am getting two sisters. " Leo said now.
"I know Leo. That is amazing sweetie. You are going to be the best brother to both of them."my mom said now.
I took the phone off the machine now," okay guys I am glad we shared this with you but now we got to end it. We will see you at home." I said ending the call as we made our way home.
We opened the door to our home to our friends screaming," They are girls" and cheering as we got in.
They already had banners and pink balloons up. They were prepared. Of course they were.I must say I admired how prepared they were and how they did all of this for us.
"Thank you everyone. We loved sharing this with you. " Amy said smiling as we were in the tv room.
" We can't believe you guys are going to have two daughters. " Howard said.
"Yeah Sheldon is going to be a dad to two girls. " Penny said like it was the cutest thing ever.
"I am aware of that Penny. I was there. " I said.
"Come here Sheldon . This calls for a hug." Penny said hugging me.
I then saw Emma look at me with a sad smile now then left. That was weird. Penny pulled away while I followed Emma with my gaze.
" Why don't you ask Amy to see the scans I am coming now okay?" I said leaving in the direction she went into to.
She was sitting on the stairs now and I sat next to her.
"What's wrong Emma?" I asked.
"Nothing Uncle Sheldon. " She said trying to give me a smile.
"Emma you can tell me anything you know that right ?" I said.
She looked at me and sighed ," When you have the twins and you have Leo you won't have time to play with me anymore. You will forget about me. "She said sadder as it dawned on her.
"Are you kidding me Emma? I could never forget about you. You are to unforgettable for that. I know having twins and me having Leo will take alot of my time but Emma I will always find time for you. I will always find time to come over and play with you. I won't forget about you. I will still be here. I am not leaving you. " I said.
"So you won't leave me when they come ?"She asked me.
"No Emma. I will never leave you. I will always have a piece of my heart that belongs to you. Your mommy and daddy means so much to me and you mean alot to me to. I don't plan on going anywhere. "
She hugged me and I realized how small she was in my arms. We both made our way to the group and Rajesh got a message alert which caused him to step back in surprise. Howard took the phone from him to have the same expression now.
"Raj congratulations. You are going to be a dad. " He said.
"What are you talking about ?" Leonard asked.
"I applied to adopt this girl named Aalia from an Indian adoption agency. She is about 5 years old now and I didn't want to say something incase I didn't get accepted but I got accepted. " Rajesh said smiling now I could see the tears in his eyes now.
"Oh my gosh . Rajesh is going to be a father. " Penny said hugging him now.
"I am going to be a father. " He said crying .
"Congratulations Rajesh . You deserve this more than you know. " Amy said hugging him.
"Congratulations Raj. You were always a father without a child. Our children absolutely adore you and we can't wait to meet the new edition to our family .You deserve happiness Raj and I am glad you found it. To Raj and Aalia. " I said raising my glass .
"To Raj and Aalia. " We all said .
"If I can make a toast. I just want to say how happy I am for Sheldon and Amy. I never in my wildest dreams thought Sheldon would be a father to one child let alone three. We can't wait to see the twins. You both have had it hard lately but continue to find the happier moments along the way and We can't wait to meet Aalia ,Raj. You deserve this more than you know. You are going to be an incredible father. Welcome to parenthood. " Leonard said smiling.
"Congratulations Raj. " Mary said hugging him.
"It's a shame we can't meet her but when we come for Shamy's renewal of their vows we can't wait to meet her. " Missy said.
Everyone went back to their usual chatter as we all had our own conversations. I stood there watching Amy talk to Raj with Penny and Bernie while Howard and Leonard were talking to Missy and Mary. I didn't even notice when I heard Georgie walk towards me .
"So you are going to have daughters huh. " Georgie said smiling.
"Yes and I am going to keep them away from all the Georgie Cooper's of the world." I said teasing him.
"You better. They need to wait to find their Sheldon Cooper's out there and they can't do that if they stuck with people like me. " Georgie said with a small laugh.
"You want them to find an annoying and crazy guy ?" I asked confused.
"No I want them to find someone who will love them so much they didn't know what love was before them. I want them to find someone who will not stop fighting for them and prove every day how grateful they are for them. If that means I have to teach you how to use a baseball bat then consider it done. " Georgie said.
"I want that for them to. Thank you Georgie. " I said with a smile.
"Sheldon I want to tell you how proud I am of the person you became and the family you have made for yourself. You turned into a better person and I am so glad to call you my brother. "
"I am glad to call you my brother to. " I said slowly so he could absorb it because I wouldn't be saying it again.
Missy and my mom came now and I realized the promise I made my dad. I decided to tell them. They cried a little and hugged me but I knew how much they needed that. How much they needed that closure. I just wish my dad could have given it to them in person but he wasn't here. I walked over to Amy pulling her into my chest now not realizing how much I missed her.
"What was that about ?" She asked me looking in the direction of Missy, Georgie and my mom.
"Just keeping a promise to my dad. " I said.
"I missed you. " She then said looking at me.
"I missed you too. "I said kissing her.
"We are going to get though this Sheldon. " She said to me now and for the first time I believed her.
"We are going to get through this together. " I repeated as we watched our family.
Our people. Leo came running to us and I picked him up not caring that he got heavier. I kissed Amy and Leo on the cheek as we stared at the room.
"We are going to be just fine Leo. " I said slowly putting him down but he held my hand and I interwined my other with Amy's hand.
I looked at Emma and gave a smile which she returned. I looked at my family and my friends that I consider family with a new set of eyes. I appreciated them all so much. I loved this life they have given me. I was okay. She was okay. We were all going to be okay.
This was adorable and confusing but I thought it was rather cute. Let me know what you think of Raj's storyline and I am positing one last chapter on Sunday which is an epilogue. I hoped you loved this chapter and I wanna thank every single one of you for all the love on this story. I appreciate it more than you will ever know. Especially to the one person who has continuously supported it from day one and often times been my motivation.
