Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for all of the lovely comments that you are leaving on these prompts. It means so much.
This is a prompt request from Olivia25 who wanted Emily to ask Amy and Sheldon about their Nobel and why people knew who they were.
Thank you so much for requesting. I really hope this was okay and what you were after.
Enjoy!
"Are we here?" Emily asked sitting up straighter in her booster seat, taking a glance out of the window when she felt Sheldon slow down the car and come to a stop in a parking space.
"No, not yet sweetheart" Amy answered. "Daddy just has to drop by work to see uncle Leonard."
"Can I come! Can I come!?" she asked excitedly, her little legs kicking enthusiastically. Amy looked to Sheldon, her eyes telling him that this was his decision yet a simple trip in and out was almost near impossible with a three year old.
"Sure" Sheldon glanced over his shoulder to smile at Emily, whose eyes lit up now that she had been granted permission. He had always loved the idea of showing his children around his place of work, although he was sure to a young child his office was far from exciting, he couldn't wait for the days when they could sit together and solve equations. For now, he knew that moment was a little way off but he couldn't wait all the same.
"Then we can go for ice cream?" Emily asked, her eyes wide, almost as if she knew exactly what she was doing by fluttering those beautiful lashes of hers.
"Then we can get ice cream" Amy told her.
They had just attended Emily's first parent-teacher meeting at her daycare and right now they couldn't have been prouder. According to her teacher, Emily was an incredibly kind, happy, intelligent and confident little girl that gave all activities a go and tried her hardest with every task she attempted. Her favourite thing to do was to play and explore outdoors, taking a real interest in their mini beast area. She also loved the role play area and water tray.
Even though, she knew Sheldon would be bouncing off the ceiling because their daughters intelligence had been confirmed and noted by a professional that was around children every single day (Amy was pretty sure they gave a similar spiel to every parent) but all that mattered to her was that their daughter was kind.
Being well aware of the type of children both she and Sheldon encountered whilst growing up, it meant the world to her to know already that their daughter was kind. Someone who was already starting recognise that just simply being nice to someone was sometimes the best thing you could do. She really was bursting with pride.

"Now if we keep going all the way down this hallway we'll find mummy's lab just to the left" Sheldon explained as he and Emily walked hand in hand down the hallways of Caltech. One thing that took him by surprise when he became a father and Emily began to grow a little older was how much he loved holding her hand, feeling her tiny hand and fingers wrapped around his own gave him a warmth inside that he had never anticipated. He also knew that it really wouldn't be long until the last thing she wanted to do was hold her fathers hand.
"Have I been there?" she asked.
"A few times when you were younger" he explained, although Emily couldn't really remember. They continued to walk down the hallways, Sheldon occasionally pointing out a few famous scientists that were celebrated on the wall and giving Emily little snippets of their theories that changed the science industry.
Everything her father was telling her seemed to just go over her head. She was more amazed by how big everything seemed around her, the tall walls and high ceiling seemed to tower above her. Even the people passing them felt huge to her tiny little frame.
They turned the corner and Sheldon instantly regretted his decision, with the focus being on Emily this evening, he had completely forgotten that a bunch of prospective student were being shown around the university. Since he and Amy had won their Nobel a number of years ago, the profile of Caltech had been increased.
"Oh my goodness, the man himself, Dr Sheldon Cooper" the campus tour guide announced upon seeing Sheldon and his daughter turning the corner. The crowd of about thirty students gasped and began to instantly applaud. A reaction like this hasn't happened in a long time and definitely not in Emily's presence. He gave the students a small smile and tried to manoeuvre around them, of course, he was grateful for their appreciation but he never did well with crowds especially those that were unexpected.
Lost in his own haze of uncertainty, he was pulled back to reality when he felt Emily squeeze his hand tightly, this was clearly all a bit too much and overwhelming for her as well as him.
"Just keep hold of my hand, okay" Sheldon told her gently, he felt her move closer to him as he began to shuffle his way through the crowd. People were patting him on the back, throwing their hands in his direction for him to shake and telling him what an inspiration he and Amy were to the field of physics. Keeping his head down all he could do was politely mutter and mumble a thank you."Are you good?" Sheldon asked Emily once they had turned the corner away from the crowd of students.
"I didn't like it daddy" she told him her voice wavering slightly, he had to look at her to make sure she wasn't crying.
"It's okay. Daddy didn't like it either" he thought it was best to be honest with her. He was also very glad that Amy wasn't with him, at just ten weeks pregnant, their second baby was still very much their own little secret. Everything was still so early and he was conscious of every little movement she made. "Shall we go and find Leonard?" he asked.
—
"Who were those people daddy?" Emily asked as she sat opposite her parents at the ice cream parlour. Kneeling up on her chair so that she could reach the table better, she plunged her long spoon into her ice cream sundae.
After Sheldon and Emily returned to the car, he had briefly filled Amy in on the encounter with the students. Emily had remained silent on the matter throughout the drive to get ice cream, Sheldon wasn't sure whether this was just down to her being quiet or whether she was trying to process everything that happened. He was sure she'd have questions.
"So a few years ago before you were born, mummy and daddy won an award" Amy explained, they had never really sat Emily down before and explained their Nobel win. She had of course seen their medals at home but she had never questioned what they meant. "We won something called the Nobel prize, have you heard of that?" Amy asked, she knew the answer would probably be no, but she wondered if she had overheard conversations.
"Nope" Emily shook her head, her mouth now slightly smeared blue from her bubblegum ice cream.
"Well it's a very big and important prize that we won for physics" she wasn't sure how much information her daughter was taking in but it meant more to her than she ever thought it would to be able to share this with her. "Because of that, a few people, especially where we work, recognise us sometimes."
"We won it for super asymmetry" Sheldon added, wanting to bring the conversation back to their win.
"What's that?" Emily asked, he couldn't quite gage her interest. Amy knew for a fact that she was more interested in the sweets that were sitting at the bottom of her sundae glass.
"Well, it's based upon super symmetry which focuses upon subatomic particles from which everything else is made. That theory proposes that every subatomic particle in the current model of particle physics has a so called symmetrical part..."
"Sheldon" Amy interrupted with a laugh, she loved how passionate he was about their theory and that sometimes he spoke to Emily like she was one of his fellow scientists. "It basically means that the things that aren't perfect, are often the things that are perfect" Amy put it to their daughter in what she hoped was a much more child friendly way.
"Do I get to win one when I'm older?" she asked, looking up from her ice cream. Amy heard Sheldon gasp and was sure she'd never seen him look happier.
"Oh, Amy. Can you imagine, our daughter, a Nobel prize winner" he gushed, Amy looked at him and simply rolled her eyes.
"Darling, you can be whatever you want to be"
As always reviews are always welcome and so appreciated.
Stay safe
Lots of love. xx
