Chapter Nine, Prom
A few weeks had passed by and Prom had finally arrived. Angela was at the Swan residence getting ready with Valerie, well they were supposed to be, but right now they were sat playing with Jace with curlers in their hair and waiting for their nails to dry. Both Jasper and Jacob would be there to pick them up soon.
"He's so handsome and he's got so big." Angela gushed, smiling as Valerie made a bear tickle her son's stomach, his squeals of laughter making them both smile and laugh.
"I know. He's crawling now." Valerie smiled, tenderly brushing his blonde hair out of his face. "It's actually made me want to have another." She confessed, causing Angela's eyes to go as wide as saucers as she squealed and pulled Valerie into a tight hug.
"I don't mean right now." Valerie laughed, at her friend's antics. "But at some point I'd like for Jace to be a big brother."
"But you'd like it be now right?" Angela teased, wiggling her eyebrows at friend, cackling as she dodged a stuffed toy chucked at her, when there was a knock on the doorframe.
"Girls, you better get ready if you don't want to be late." Charlie reminded, smiling at them. "And I finally get have some granddad-grandson quality time." He added, walking further into Jace's bedroom and picking his grandson up off the floor. "Come on lil man. Come to Grandpa."
"Thanks Dad." Valerie smiled.
"No problem. Now get a move on girls." He said firmly, shaking his head as they hurried through the adjoining door back into Valerie's room. "I can tell you're going to be trouble lil man. Already you're distracting the girls." He laughed going downstairs.
Inside Valerie's room, Val and Angela took the curlers out of their hair, ran a brush through their hair before they curled their hair to how they liked and wanted it. They were both thankful Angela had brought over her things so they wouldn't have to share, as they were already running behind. Once they'd finished with the curlers they turned them off and unplugged them, setting them somewhere safe to cool down, as they worked on each other's hair and makeup to get it just right; Val even helping Angela put in some contacts. Soon they were finished and slipped into their shoes and dresses and they looked stunning. Angela wore a beautiful long-sleeved, wine coloured dress with the top half made of lace and the skirt made of silk. She had black strappy heels adorning her feet, burgundy and silver nails, natural eyeshadow, black eyeliner and mascara and burgundy lipstick. And finally her hair was styled in a waterfall braid with the rest of her dark hair left in curls around her shoulders.
Her dress would be matched perfectly by the suit Jacob would be wearing, both Val and Angela had hinted to Jake and Jasper the colours they would be wearing so they could get the perfect suit. Jacob's suit was royal blue with a matching waist coat, black shoes, a white shirt and a burgundy tie to match. Both Jacob's and Angela's outfits would look so good together that Val was excited to see her two friends together and the dress went well with Angela's complexion and she knew Jacob's suit with go well with his too.
Valerie was wearing a beautiful navy dress in a shimmery material, that had a plunge neckline and crisscross back, the skirt was also in a mermaid style flaring out at her ankles. She had her nails done in a matte rosy pink with a hint of blue for a classy look, and silver strappy heels. For her makeup she had gold smokey-eye eyeshadow, black eyeliner and mascara and deep wine coloured lipstick, and finally her hair was in a half-up, half-down style with the top half pinned back with a few strands framing her face and the rest left in blonde curls down her back.
"You look beautiful." The two girls said at the same time, before they started laughing. As they were tidying up everything they've used they heard Charlie shout up the stairs to them.
"Girls! Jasper and Jacob are here!"
"Coming Daddy!" Valerie shouted. "Ready?" She asked Angela, after spraying perfume on them both.
Angela took a deep breath and nodded her head a nervous smile upon her face.
"I'll go down first if you want?" Val said softly, taking Angela's hand and giving it a squeeze.
"Thank you." Angela sighed with relief. Smiling the pair left Valerie's room turning off the light as they went, only for Angela to freeze as they reached the top of the stairs. "Everything's okay Angie. Jake is going to love you, I promise." Val assured, giving her friend a tight hug before slowly making her way downstairs. As soon as her heels hit the steps it drew the attention of the three men standing in the hall; Jasper having cuddles with their son. All three of them smiled as they saw her, her Dad even had tears in his eyes. As she locked eyes with Jasper she could see the love and lust in them and she couldng help but feel the same. He looked so handsome in a charcoal grey suit and waistcoat, a crisp white shirt, a light pink tie and burgundy shoes, and she was happy to note he'd left his curls alone.
"You look gorgeous, darlin." Jasper breathed, smiling softly to her and holding out a hand as she reached the bottom steps, the other still holding Jace safely to his chest.
"Thank you. You don't look too bad yourself." She teased, making Jacob laugh and her father smile as he covered up his snigger with a cough. "But seriously you do look very handsome." She corrected, reaching up to give Jasper a loving and tender kiss.
"You don't look too bad yourself, Jake. And I see you've actually tied your hair back." Valerie teased, making Jake roll his eyes but gave her a hug and complimented her before his attention was caught by Angela coming down the stairs. Val was happy when she noticed the starstruck look upon his face. Apparently it was the same way she and Jasper looked at each other.
"Where's Bella, Dad?" Valerie asked, letting Angela and Jake have their moment as she leaned against Jasper who had an arm around her waist the other holding Jace securely to his chest.
"Left with Edward before Jasper and Jake arrived. Didn't say a word to me when she saw I had Jace. I really don't know what's gotten into her since she met Edward, and I'm seriously thinking of sending her to live with your mother and Phil. Sorry Jasper, I know he's your brother." Charlie apologised, once he'd finished his rant.
"No, don't worry Charlie. Edward is doing my head in, well everyone's really. We've noticed a change in him too." Jasper said, stopping the little bounce he was doing with Jace.
"Dada!" Jace shouted, causing everyone to stare at the baby before burst out laughing.
"That told you, babe." Valerie laughed, kissing her son's frown-y face which turned into a smile afterwards. Her son was just too cute.
"Oh, I'm sorry lil man I won't talk to your Grandpa in future." Jasper teased, holding Jace above his head causing him to let out squeals of laughter which brought smiles to everyone's faces. Angela caught Valerie's eyes and wiggled her eyebrows at her when she caught her friend staring at her son and boyfriend with a loving expression on her face. Valerie rolled her eyes at her but had a small blush on her cheeks causing Angela to laugh.
"Right pictures. Then you better get going." Charlie said, picking the camera up off the side table.
After finishing taking a few pictures Jasper, Val, Jake and even Angela hugged and kissed Jace goodbye and said goodbye to Charlie as he wished them a good time gently waving Jace's hand to them, before they all piled into Jasper's car. Valerie in the front passenger seat holding Jasper's hand, and with Jake and Angela in the back.
"Whose Quil with to the prom?" Valerie asked Jake curiously.
"Cara." Jake explained.
"She's back!" Val squealed excitedly, sounding very much like Alice in that moment.
"Yeah she came back earlier today. She would've called but knew you were getting ready for prom and she had to get ready too. She said she'll call you later." Jake explained, smiling at her.
"Whose Cara?" Jasper and Angela asked. Jasper recognised the name but he couldn't place it.
"She's Embry's twin sister. She's been away to Cali for a few weeks with their Mum visiting her Grandmother. The whole family was supposed to go but Embry was behind on schoolwork so he and their Dad stayed behind." Jake explained.
"Oh, we definitely need to catch up. Maybe a girls day." Val mused. "Angie you're welcome to join us. It'll be the girls from Rez, though maybe not Emily. I'd like her to come but she and her cousin Leah aren't on good terms right now, so it'll probably not be a good idea. It'll just cause a fight. I'll have to do something else with Emily." Valerie sighed sadly.
"Thanks Val. I'd like that." Angela said happily. A few moments later they arrived at the school that was dressed beautifully for prom, there were little lanterns strewn about the car park creating a fairytale sort of image. And Rosalie, Emmett, Iris and Alice were waiting for them and they looked amazing.
Rosalie wore a beautiful, glittery, two-piece outfit that faded from light purple to a darker purple, she had shiny golden heels on her feet, her blonde hair was curled and left down around her shoulders. She also had light and dark coloured nails with a few jewels on them, purple smokey-eye eyeshadow, black winged eyeliner and mascara and deep wine coloured lipstick. Emmett wore a rather handsome, dark charcoal suit and waistcoat, black shoes and a light purple tie to match Rosalie, and his curls had also been tamed unlike Jasper's.
Iris wore a beautiful off the shoulder glittery black dress that faded to a deep blue that had a slit up one leg and matching white heels. Her hair was curled with two braids running on either side that were tied back creating a half-up look. She had on shimmery silver eyeshadow, with black winged eyeliner, black mascara, taupe lipstick and deep blue nail varnish.
Alice's look complimented and went with her mate Iris's look. She had on a beautiful one-shouldered, deep blue dress that had jewel pattern on the waist and a slit up one leg and silver heels. She had her short hair styled and swept back, deep blue smokey-eye eyeshadow, black winged eyeliner and mascara. Taupe lipstick and deep blue and silver varnish.
"Ooh! You both look beautiful! And Jasper's and Jacob's suits match your dresses so well!" Alice squealed, jumping up and down as they got out of the car.
"Alley, calm down." Iris laughed, placing a hand on Alice's arm and kissing her cheek.
"Thanks Alley and you all look beautiful too. My Emmett! Don't you clean up well." Val teased.
"Yep." Emmett grinned boastfully. "I'm afraid you're with the wrong and least handsome Cullen, Val." He teased, only to get a jab to the ribs from Rosalie as Jasper glared at him.
"Ignore him." Rosalie and Iris said together. Emmett gasped dramatically, placing a hand over his heart.
"My dear baby twin, you wound me." He exclaimed in a faux hurt voice making Val and Angela laugh and Jake to snigger.
"You'll live big brother." Iris said, patting his chest as she walked over to Angela and Jake still holding Alice's hand. "Hi. I'm Iris and this is my girlfriend Alice. The giant Teddy bear is my twin brother Emmett and his girlfriend Rosalie who is Jasper's older sister." Iris introduced happily, holding her hand out to the two which they shook.
"Hi." They said with smiles, only to startle as Alice pulled them into a hug quickly before she let go.
"Now, let's go get our couple photos done." Alice cheered, leading the way with Iris followed by Rosalie and Emmett, then Angela and Jake, leaving Jasper and Val alone.
"Finally, I get you all to myself." Jasper cried, wrapping his arms around Valerie's waist and kissing her neck down to her shoulder while she let out a soft little moan. Valerie spun around in his arms wrapping her own around his neck and kissed him passionately their tongues fighting for dominance that Jasper finally won. When Valerie's need to breathe became too great they pulled apart resting their heads against each other and smiling happily at each other.
"I love you." Valerie muttered softly, staring lovingly into his butterscotch eyes.
"I love you too darlin." Jasper returned, staring into her sea-green eyes. "Would my lovely mate like to dance?" He asked, pulling away and holding an arm out to her.
"I'd love to." Valerie declared happily, slipping her arm through his as they walked into the school only pausing to get their photo taken. For the rest of the night they had an amazing time dancing beneath one of gazebos lit by fairy lights, it was magical and romantic and they could pretend there was no one there but them as they stared into each other's eyes, smiling lovingly at each other as they danced the night away.
