Chapter Eleven, Troubled Birthdays
Jasper smiled as Valerie slowly started to come round, he kissed her head and pulled her closer hearing her sigh in content.
"Morning darlin, and happy birthday." Jasper said happily, kissing her forehead.
"Morning Jazz, and thank you." Valerie hummed, looking up at Jasper and pulling him down for a kiss. They smiled happily at each other when they pulled back, completely in their own bubble.
"This is for you." He said, sitting up and reaching into his chest of drawers. He'd practically moved in now, and pulled out two medium sized wrapped presents.
"Oh, Jazz, you didn't have to but thank you." Valerie said happily, she couldn't help but smile even wider when she saw one was from him and the other is from Jace.
"I think we need our, lil wolf for this one." She said, holding up the present from Jace.
"I agree." Jasper whispered in her ear, pulling into his arms as they sat against the headboard. "Open mine." He said, as kissed her neck. Stifling a moan Valerie set Jace's present to one side and turned her attention to the present from Jasper.
"Oh Jasper." Valerie gasped, she held up two photo frames of the two of them with Jace. One of the photos was they helping Jace walk in the Cullen's garden, and the other was when Alice had demanded she hold a photo shoot. Jace was sat on her lap and Jasper had his arms around both of them, all three of them were smiling. And now she new why Alice had demanded it. They were both beautiful and went straight on her bedside table.
Turning back to the wrapping she saw a little black box on top of a large brown box, opening the smaller one revealed a golden tree of life necklace with Jace's birth stone along with her own, Jasper's, and even Jason's. Opening the brown box was an extremely expensive art set.
"Oh, Jasper. Thank you, I don't know what to say." Valerie said softly, completely lost for words.
"I know how much you cared for him and he's apart of Jace, he's Jace's biological father and I hope you like it. And I know how much you love to paint." Jasper said unsurely, as he brushed some hair behind her ear.
"I love it. Both of them, and I love you so much." Valerie said strongly, setting it aside before she turned around and straddled his lap.
"I'm glad darlin, I love you so much too." Jasper said just as strongly, kissing her deeply and passionately only for Jace to start calling for them.
"I'll get him." Valerie said, pecking Jasper's lips before she headed into Jace's nursery.
"Good morning, baby." Jasper could hear Valerie coo to their son, making a smile come to his face.
"Mama." Jace exclaimed happily, he could almost picture Jace reaching his arms up for Valerie.
"I love you baby, shall we go see Daddy?" Valerie asked. A moment later Valerie was walking back into their bedroom with a happily babbling Jace in her arms.
"Look there's Daddy." Valerie said, pointing to Jasper.
"Dada!" Jace shouted excitedly.
"Good morning, my little wolf." Jasper said, taking Jace into his arms and kissing all over his face making the baby laugh as Valerie took a picture of them before climbing back into bed. "Do you want to help Mama open her present?" Jasper asked, as soon as Jace saw the paper he cooed and helped Valerie tear open the present.
Inside was a cream coloured cushion with a green Disney castle and on the front said, 'Mummy's little Prince'. There was also a white baby grow that said, 'petit Prince.' And a second baby grow that said, 'Mummy's little Muggle.' With the Sorting Hat on top.
"They're perfect, thank you baby." Valerie gushed, kissing her son. "Thank you Jasper." Valerie said gratefully, kissing her mate happily. At that moment there was a knock on her door before her Dad walked in with two large bags hanging off his arms, a cup holder with two cups in one hand and a sippy cup of milk in the other.
"Happy birthday sweetheart. Morning Jasper and morning my handsome grandson." Charlie greeted as he entered. "I've got you a hot chocolate and blueberry pancakes from the diner for us to share, I got extra for Jace to try. Just like we used to."
"Morning Charlie." Jasper greeted happily, feeling completely relaxed now that Bella had left he didn't like the emotions he got from her and knew she was planning something for the party later. He knew that Bella was also setting Valerie's wolf on edge and that was something he would not stand for.
"Thanks Dad, this is perfect." Valerie said happily, handing the sippy cup to Jace who said, 'Ta.' Like a good boy.
Once the three of them had finished eating, Jasper helping Jace eat although some did end up on the quilt but it didn't matter it was wash day anyway, Charlie handed her some more presents.
"Your friends from the Rez gave me your presents when I saw Billy yesterday. He also got you something along with Harry and Sue." Charlie told her, handing her Billy's, Harry's and Sue's presents first. Billy had gotten her a Weasleys Wizard Wheezes note book set that even had a quill, invitations and envelopes. Harry and Sue had gotten her a beautiful purple halter dress with a black fabric belt. That she decided to wear that today as she'll be going straight to the Cullen's from school. She was taking Jace with her as Rosalie was picking up from the car park.
Her Dad had got her Harry Potter writing set with a quill, paper and ink well. Her Mum and Phil had gotten her a white camera and a blue photo album. Sam and Emily had gotten her season one of Legacies on dvd. Cara, Rachel, Emily, Leah and Kim had gotten her a picture of all of them and Jace from their girls day out in a 'Have you seen this wizard?' frame. A laugh tumbled from her lips when she saw the exact same frame from Jacob, Seth, Quil, Embry, Paul and Jared: holding a picture of all seven of them pulling some sort of silly face.
"These are perfect. Thanks Dad." Valerie said happily, hugging her Dad tightly.
"You're welcome sweetheart, Billy and I know how much you like to write." Charlie said, given her a tight squeeze. His baby girl was eighteen; where did the time go?
"Before I forget and you get ready for school. There's one more." He said, leaving the room for a moment before he returned with a large frame that could possibly be a painting. "This is from Jean-Paul and Melinda." He added. When Valerie unwrapped it she couldn't help but gasp in surprise. The painting turned out to be an Alpha female the exact colours she was with a pup laying besides her in a forest. It was beautiful.
"That's amazing." Jasper stated amazed.
"Jean-Paul was impressed with the painting you did for your Mother of the two of you in your wolf forms that he wanted to do one for you of you and Jace. Obviously guessing Jace's form. If he shifts." Charlie explained.
"I love it. Can you hang it up for me Dad, please?" Valerie asked.
"I will while you're at school. Now, you need to hurry. I know you had a free period but you don't want to be late." Charlie said, collecting all the rubbish with Jasper's help while Valerie got Jace ready and sent quick thank you messages to everyone. Valerie changed Jace into some stripy trousers, a black long sleeved top, a grey jumper, red shoes and his black coat. Jasper had changed into blue jeans with a brown belt, a blue shirt and blue converses. Valerie had changed into the dress she got from Sue and Harry, amethyst earrings, the necklace from Jasper, black wedged ankle boots, her black leather jacket, purple eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara, pink lipstick, purple nail varnish and finally her hair was up in a curled bun.
At lunch when Valerie and Jasper were sitting with Alice (Edward and Bella were off somewhere), Angela came over to them with a wide grin.
"Happy birthday Val!" Angela cried, holding out a bulky but neatly wrapped present.
"Thanks Angela." Valerie said gratefully, accepting the present which she tore into. "No way!" She exclaimed, her eyes widening. "Angela, you are the best." She exclaimed. Looking over the Supernatural books. There was; 'Bobby Singer's Guide to Hunting', 'Supernatural- the Unholy Cause', and finally, 'Supernatural: War of the Sons'.
"You're welcome, I'm glad you like them." Angela beamed. "I hope you have a good birthday and I wanted to say; thank you for setting me up with Jacob."
"You're welcome Angie. Your are perfect for each other." Valerie said, with a secretive wink, making the four of them laugh.
The day had gone relatively fast for Valerie and Jasper, both of them couldn't wait to get back to their little boy. As soon as the school let out they headed straight towards Alice's car to head towards the Cullen's house where the party would be held. As they walked past Bella and Edward, Bella gave Valerie a nasty glare as she got into at Edward's Volvo.
"Just ignore her Val." Alice said, as she took off towards her house. It didn't take long to get to the Cullen's house with Alice's maniac driving and they were soon pulling into the garage besides Valerie's Impala that Rosalie had driven here that morning.
"Anyone would think you're a girl racer, Alley." Valerie teased, as they headed up the stairs towards the living room. Making everyone laugh, especially Emmett.
But as they entered the living room through the kitchen they started hearing shouting.
"Why the hell is the brat here at MY birthday party?!" Bella shouted, startling Jace who started crying at the sudden loud noise.
"It's not just your birthday or your party, Isabella it's both of ours. And do not call my son a brat!!" Valerie snarled, her eyes going golden. "Iris take Jace out of the room please." Valerie asked, not taking her eyes off the threat; i.e. Isabella Swan and Edward Cullen. Iris pouted as she wanted to watch the show as Emmett rubbed his hands gleefully, but she did as asked and picked up her nephew rubbing his back soothingly as she took him to Jasper's old room.
"This is gonna be good." Emmett said gleefully, Rosalie nudged him to be quiet but even she looked gleeful.
"You are a disgrace Isabella! I can't even trust you with your own nephew, do you know how sad that is!? You would hurt a baby, your own nephew, just because you're jealous you didn't get the gene! Well news flash; the world doesn't revolve around you! And if you EVER go to hurt my son again, I will END you!" Valerie snarled.
"Do not threaten my mate!" Edward growled, crouching in front of Bella. Jasper growled and crouched besides Valerie ready to attack.
"And YOU!" Valerie snarled. "You would stand there SMIRKING as Bella tried to hurt MY SON! What kind of person are you!! You are both so blinded by your toxic relationship that you can't see the truth!" Valerie shouted.
Instead of shouting back as she usually would have done had they been home. Bella smirked maliciously at her sister before she put on the water works.
"E-Edward I-I d-don't want to be here anymore. T-Take me home." Bella faked sobbed. Edward looked from Bella who was 'sobbing' into her hands, to Valerie who's eyes were still glowing golden and had a snarl on her face, looking very wolf like. It took one second for Edward to roar in anger and grab Valerie intending to cause her harm, but she got free and left a parting gift on Edward's arm. Only for Edward to be sent flying across the room in the next moment, via Jasper who's eyes were black with red swirling within them.
"Don't you dare ever come at my mate again!" Major roared, only to be held back by Emmett. "IF YOU'VE HURT HER I'LL KILL YOU! DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME! I'LL KILL YOU IF YOU EVEN LOOK AT HER!! Darlin' are you alrigh'?" Major asked, trying to get free. "Let me go boy. I need to check over my mate!" Knowing it was in his best interest with Major free Emmett quickly let him go, watching him wearily but he completely ignored Edward and went to Valerie checking her over frantically.
"Sweetheart, are you alright?" Major asked, his Texan accent thicker than Jasper's.
"I'm fine Major. But I left Edward a little parting gift." Valerie said with a smirk, showing off her fangs. This was proof enough of how threatened Edward and Bella made her feel in regards to her safety but mainly her son's that she succeeded a half transformation without the Full Moon, which only happened when a werewolf was extremely angry or when seriously threatened.
"YOU BIT HIM!! HOW COULD YOU!!" Bella screeched. "HEEL HIM NOW!!"
"He shouldn't of tried to attack me then." Valerie said, shrugging her shoulders. "It's your fault anyway, if you didn't make a drama and fake cry it wouldn't have escalated to this. I suggest you say your goodbyes he'll have a few hours and it'll be a slow and painful death where he'll hallucinate. If you can find a Hybrid who will be willing to give you a cup of their blood then be my guest, search. But they have to be willing and not drained of blood. They are also much stronger than you'll ever hope to be. But there's none that I know of."
"See! She's a danger as is her brat of a son! We have to get rid of them both, Carlisle!" Edward exclaimed.
"Edward that is enough! I have warned you what your toxic relationship with Bella would lead to. But you chose to ignore me, you brought this on yourself." Carlisle said resigned.
"Alice take Bella home." Esme ordered, seeing Edward wasn't going to stop any time soon.
"But Edward-" Bella protested.
"Now, Bella." Alice said firmly, grasping her arms and almost pulling the girl out of her house.
"My mate and son are not a danger!" Major growled, once they heard the car leave the driveway.
"Not a danger? Not a danger?" Edward laughed. "Do you hear yourself?" He mocked.
"Edward that is enough!" Rosalie snapped.
"You are just a spoiled brat who is throwing a temper tantrum! What is this the ten year mark for another one?" Iris asked sardonically, from upstairs.
"Say another word, I dare you! And I will personally lend Major a hand in killing you!" Emmett growled, cracking his knuckles.
"She's turned you all against Bella and me! She needs to die!" The words were barely out of Edward's mouth before Major was separating Edward's head from his body and tossing it to the floor in disgust.
"Get this piece of filth out of my sight?" Major roared, still shaking with rage.
"With pleasure." Emmett growled, grabbing Edward's head and body and heading outside to burn it.
"Shhh. It's okay Major, everything is okay. I'm safe and Jace is safe upstairs with Iris." Valerie said, placing her hands on his face getting him to look her in the eye. Slowly after much whispered proclamations of love Major calmed down enough to allow Jasper control once more, but not before giving Valerie a passionate domineering kiss.
"I'm so sorry this has happened on your birthday, Val. And I hope you know that none of us agree with Edward." Carlisle apologised sadly.
"I know and thank you Carlisle. It was Bella's fault as much as Edward's. I'm sorry I had to bite him, but it was the only way to break his hold, but I know he was your son so I apologise." Valerie apologised, even though she didn't regret what she did. In fact Edward deserved it.
"Thank you." Carlisle smiled at her. "Now, how about presents?" He asked, as Alice returned along with Emmett, and Iris came down with Jace who was scooped up by his parents, who checked him over frantically as their instincts demanded it. When they were sure he was safe and unharmed they let Esme old the sleeping baby while Alice put on some music, knowing Jasper's plan for after presents.
"This is from Esme and I." Carlisle said, handing over a large parcel with plane tickets tapped to the top of it.
"We thought you'd like to go see your Mother and Phil and let all of Jace's grandparents see him." Esme smiled.
"Thank you. Thank you." Valerie cried, hugging both Esme and Carlisle, before opening their other presents which was some more Supernatural books and a Happy Potter book: The Dark Arts book.
From Rosalie and Emmett she got a large, and she meant LARGE Harry Potter bath hamper with all sorts of bath bombs, bath salts and all manner of things. And from Alice and Iris, she got a Slytherin clutch handbag and a large Slytherin travel bag which would be perfect when she went to see her Mum.
"Thank you, all of you. I love them." Valerie said happily and gratefully.
"You're welcome. Alice, Iris, Emmett come help me put them in the Impala's boot." Rosalie requested, picking up one set so the others had to help. She had cottoned on to what Jasper wanted to do.
"Valerie, would you like me to give Jace his checkup early while he's here?" Carlisle asked.
"If you don't mind. That would be great." Valerie said unsurely.
"Not at all. Happy birthday." Carlisle smiled, kissing her head before he headed towards his office.
"Don't worry sweetheart, I've got him. Happy birthday." Esme said, kissing her head and following after Carlisle with Jace safety in her arms.
"Why do I get the feeling they all filed out for a reason?" Valerie asked, raising an eyebrow at her mate.
"Because I wanted to do this." Jasper said, putting on their favourite song; All Our Own by Jensen Ackles. "Can I have this dance, Ma'am?" Jasper asked, holding out his hand.
"Of course, my love." Valerie smiled, slipping her hand into Jasper's as they started to dance around the living room. What had happened earlier melted away, as they got lost in each other's eyes and in the music. As Jasper span her around in circles, laughs tumbling from both their lips.
"I love you." Jasper said, when he pulled her back into his arms, resting his head against hers.
"I love you too." Valerie whispered, before she was span back out giggles tumbling from her lips as they danced the night away.
