Chapter Twelve, First Halloween
Weeks had past since Valerie had bitten Edward and Jasper had killed him, and it was now Halloween, Jace's first Halloween and they wanted to make it special for him. There was a bonfire party on the Rez for Halloween and Jasper was invited as he was allowed on there due to being Valerie's mate. Jasper and Valerie had decided to dress up as Danny and Sandy from Grease after watching it together the other day and dress Jace up in a baby's version of a T bird. Valerie was just finishing curling her hair and adding the finishing touches to her make up by adding red lipstick and she was done. She looked over her outfit in the mirror and couldn't wait to see Jasper's reaction, the bond and their wolf and vampire sides have been pushing them to complete the bond and she wasn't sure they'd make it to their honeymoon.
Shaking her head she couldn't help but smile. She wore black leather trousers, a black off the shoulder top, red heels, light smokey-eyeshadow and red lipstick. Switching off the curling iron so it would cool down, she left her room to search for her elusive mate and son, finding them playing together in Jace's bedroom. Jace looked adorable in a white T-shirt, black jeans, black trainers and a baby's version of the T bird leather jacket in a vest style and his hair lightly spiked. Jasper looked even more handsome than he usually did.
He wore a similar outfit to Jace but with a full leather jacket, but he left his hair alone.
"Mama." Jace cried happily, using his father to stand up and toddle over to his mother.
"Hi baby." Valerie said, coming further into the room and crouching down with her arms opened wide, out of the corner of her eyes she saw Jasper's eyes darken when he caught sight of her.
"Don't you look handsome." Valerie cooed, kissing all over Jace's face as he giggled, silently thanking that it was one of the lasting lipsticks and age didn't have to wipe lipstick off of her son. "Just like your Daddy."
"You look so beautiful, darlin." Jasper said in awe, wrapping his arms around her once she stood up with Jace in her arms and kissing her passionately.
"Thank you and you look so handsome. I'm glad you left your hair as is, spiked hair wouldn't suit you." Valerie declared, kissing Jasper once more. A knock on the door pulled them apart and they turned to see her Dad standing in the doorway.
"Wow, you guys look amazing." Charlie said, spotting the three of them. "Let's take some pictures for your Mum and Phil, and Melinda and Jean-Paul." He added, holding up Valerie's camera.
"You're as bad as Alice, Dad." Valerie laughed, after they'd taken quite a few of pictures.
"Oh, be quiet." Charlie said teasingly, his smile taking the bite out of the harsh words. "Now, have fun you both deserve it. Especially you sweetheart, with what happened on your birthday and with how Bella is being right now." Charlie sighed, shaking his head.
"Where is she? Normally she comes in to have a dig and I'm sorry you're going through all this Dad." Valerie sighed.
"It's not your fault sweetheart." Charlie assured, kissing her forehead and hugging her tightly. "I just got in ten minutes ago and saw a note stuck to the cupboard where I put my gun. Apparently as Angela is now your friend and dating Jake, Bella is hanging out with Jessica and they don't want nothing to go with either you or Angela." Charlie said angrily.
"That was in the note?!" Jasper demanded pissed off, Charlie grimly nodded his head.
"But don't worry about that. Go have fun, I'll be here watching movies with Billy and Harry who should be here any minute." He added looking at his watch.
"Have fun too Dad. You deserve it." Valerie said, hugging her Dad tightly and kissing his cheek.
"Thank you sweetheart." Charlie said softly, as he held her tighter.
Once they arrived outside of Billy's house, Jasper set up the buggy as soon as he got out so Valerie could place Jace in as he was fast asleep. Strapping him in Jasper covered him with his thick blanket and the cover to make sure he was warm, before Valerie pulled the hood up to keep the wind off his face. After greeting Jake and Angela who looked amazing dressed up as the Scarlet Witch and Vision, they followed them into the centre of the Rez where there was a large bonfire and tables full of food from the barbecue that Sue and Cathleen, Embry and Clara's Mum, were cooking and cans of Coke Zero.
"Val!" Seth shouted, being the first one to spot them and attracting everyone's attention to them. Who all ran over to them making Jasper chuckle.
"Hey guys." Valerie greeted, hugging Seth who then shook Jasper's hand.
"Wow, you look amazing Val." Seth complimented. "So do you Jasper. Love the family Greese theme."
"Thanks Spider-Man." Val laughed, seeing as Seth was dressed as Spider-Man from Infinity War.
"Wait till you see Jace." Jasper said, gently uncovering him quickly so they could see before covering him back up.
"Aww he looks adorable. A baby T bird." Leah cooed, she was dressed up as Spider-Gwen.
"You guys look amazing too." Valerie complemented, as the others joined them.
Rachel was dressed as Harley Quin and Paul was dressed as Deadpool; Embry was dressed as Black Panther and Cara was dressed as Shuri. Quil was dressed as Falcon in his new role as Captain America. Jared was dressed as the Winter Soldier and Kim was dressed as Black Widow in her white outfit. Sam was dressed as Ironman, and finally Emily was dressed as Captain Marvel. Valerie and Jasper were surprised Emily had managed to convince Sam to dress up if they were being honest. Valerie was still mad at him but she was slowly forgiving him.
"You look amazing Val." Leah said, hugging her. "Come on, we need a picture, is Jace asleep?"
"Yeah he's Jasper's mini me tonight." Valerie laughed, as Jasper carefully took him out without waking him, popping his dummy back into his mouth and unzipping his coat a little showing them the baby version of a T bird outfit.
"Oh, he looks so adorable." Emily gushed, taking a picture of Val, Leah and Jace together then Leah took him for a cuddle while Jasper and Val just had a picture together their arms around each other. Once they had their picture taken they had a picture taken with everyone, then it was a boy's group photo with Jace in Jasper's arms, then the girls all together taken by Sue.
"Are you okay Val and is Jace sleeping better now or still teething badly?" Sam asked hesitantly, as Jasper placed Jace back into the buggy. They all knew what had happened with Edward on her birthday.
"I had some bruises but I managed to escape quickly enough so I'm fine." Val assured.
"He's still teething but I get up with him in the night when I'm not hunting so Valerie can get some sleep." Jasper explained, wrapping an arm around Valerie's waist and pushing the buggy back and forwards gently.
"He's really coming along with his waking now." Valerie said happily.
"Really?" Jake asked, around his burger getting a slap on the back of the head from Angela.
"That is disgusting Jacob." Angela said, wrinkling her nose at her boyfriend. "Did you take a picture or film it. Have you got everything for his birthday?"
"Yeah, he's getting so big. I can't believe he's one next month." Valerie moaned, laying her head on Jasper's shoulder while pulling out her phone so they couldn't see.
The rest of the evening they spent laughing, catching up, and playing games like they used to and Valerie was so happy they included Jasper in everything. It felt amazing to spend time all together like they used to. The tension between Sam, Emily and Leah was practically non existent at the moment and that's how they all liked it.
"Okay, Paul I dare you to... hop around on one leg around the fire clucking like a chicken." Jasper mused, making everyone roar with laughter.
Paul groaned sending a mock glare at Jasper which he just smiled innocently too, as he got up with a dramatic sigh before proceeding to hop around the fire clucking like a chicken as he flapped his arms. The boy's roar of laughter got louder as they rolled around on the floor holding their stomachs as they gasped with laughter. Leah, who was sitting on Valerie's other side, leaned on her as the pair started giggling. Cara, Angela, Kim and Rachel weren't faring any better as they too leaned on each other laughing. Emily tried to smother her laughter with her hand while Sam just rolled his eyes a smile on his face as he laughed at his Beta.
"What are you boys doing?" Sue asked, coming over seeing her son and the others rolling around on the ground laughing.
"Paul...Deadpool...chicken." Seth gasped in between his laughter, making everyone laugh again as Paul finally stopped and joined them. Sue seeing she wasn't going to get much out of anyone one just shook her head with a smile on her face as she went back to her best friend. Valerie had a wide smile on her face as she saw Jasper gasping for laughter like everyone else and kissed him, she loved seeing him so free and being himself.
"Alright. Alright. Alright, laugh it up." Paul groaned. "It's your turn Val." He said smirking. "I dare you...to prance around like a ballerina singing Cherry bomb."
"Easy." Valerie exclaimed, jumping up from the log once she had stopped kissing Jasper.
"Paul did you forget she's has done Ballet since she was six?" Jared complained.
"Oh shit. I forgot." Paul complained. "Ow! What was that for?!" He exclaimed, holding his arm where Valerie had just punched him.
"No swearing in front of Jace." Valerie scolded glaring at him before moving behind them and doing the dance routine from one of the performances she did in Phoenix.
"That was amazing darlin." Jasper said proudly, once she had joined him again. "And you should listen about the no swearing, she beat Emmett in a mock fight when he swore in front of Jace and doesn't she beat you all on the Full Moon?" Jasper asked, making the girls laugh at their imprints scowls, and the boys who hadn't joined yet, laughed at them too.
"Laugh it up while you can, it'll be your turn soon." Jared said seriously, pointing to Seth, Jacob, Embry and Quil.
After another round of truth or dare, though they mainly just did dares, Jasper and Valerie decided to head home as it was getting late and Valerie was getting cold even with Jasper's jacket on and they didn't want Jace to get cold even though he was wrapped snuggly.
Saying their goodbyes they headed back to the car and strapped Jace in his car seat.
"I'm so glad you came, Jazz." Valerie said, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing his lips.
"So am I darlin. I had a lot of fun." Jasper said, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her closer. "I always feel more at peace with you and Jace. You two are my whole world. I love you so much."
"I love you so much too Jasper. You built me up when I needed someone the most and you are an amazing Dad to Jace and you're more than I could have ever asked for." Valerie declared passionately, kissing him lovingly.
They loved each other more than they could've thought was possible and they were each other's anchors. They knew come what may they could get through it, as long as they had each other they would be fine.
