The Black Phoenix
Author's Note: I fucked up in a previous chapter. For some reason I thought Hawks was from Kyoto but it's actually Kyushu. I'm rectifying it now and will adjust the previous chapter. Sorry for the confusion!
Chapter 6: The Demonstration
~Shie Hassaikai Underground~
All six bullets hit the center target in rapid succession. Overhaul clapped, nodding his head in approval.
"Good job, seems you got the hang of your "improvements" rather quickly." He complimented, referring to her claw-like hands that he'd modified himself.
"I have, though it was a pain at first…" Izumi wriggled her fingers, the longer appendages were sharp and slim, but were skull crushing strong. If need be, she could support her entire weight on a single talon. "Just maneuvering the gun was a hassle, but now I'm accustomed to them."
"What about your secondary quirk?"
"Still struggling there. It's coming out in flukes, and I haven't been able to pin down how to properly channell it." She rubbed her palms together. "I can tell when it's active, though. My hands start to feel warm, like I'm holding a hot plate. Then all I have to do is slap my hands on a surface to release it."
"Hmmm perhaps it's friction or static related." Overhaul motioned to her hair. "Play with your hair a little, see if that triggers anything."
"Oh I didn't think of that. It would make sense, after all I was tied to a bed in the hospital, constantly rubbing up against fabric and-" She talked even as she pulled her hair forward and rubbed her palms over the ends of her hair to cause tha static. The fluffy ends started to puff out and unravel a few of the braids. Immediately Izumi felt her palms go warm, and her excitement built up. "It's working! Hold on," she held her palms up and turned towards the target. She made a mad dash down the corridor and slapped her palm on the wood, and watched it burst into flames.
Secondary Quirk: Static Fire- can create balls of fire depending upon the amount of friction built up.
"Well done." For the second time, Overhaul applauded his young accomplice. "Now you can go into your demonstration with your full arsenal."
"Mmmm…" Izumi stood in front of the burning target, her eyes staring into the flames with a mix of grief and anger on her face.
"What's the matter?" He put his hands in his pockets and walked to her. "I figured you'd be thrilled."
"This quirk that he gave me…" She lifted her hands up, her teeth clenched. "This is the quirk that killed my mother. The one he used to kill Dabi… that vicious bastard! Of course he would give me this quirk!"
She thrust sentient aura out, destroying the target completely and letting the embers die out. The small tantrum did nothing to satisfy her need for destruction.
"I hope he's suffering in Tartarus. I hope…" tears spilled down her cheeks and she shook her head. "No… prison isn't enough. I want him to SEE him suffering. I want to make him crawl!"
She lashed out again, her energy creating a massive crater in the thick concrete wall.
"Shhhh…." Overhaul calmly hushed her, hesitating before laying his hands on her shoulders. He felt her tense up, but kept his touch gentle and voice soothing. "Give it time, Phoenix." He stroked gloved fingers over her neck and spread the shirt open and down off the shoulder to reveal skin. He bowed his head, letting the tip of the mask brush along it as if to place a kiss there. "We will make him suffer. Once the full effect serum is completed, we can render him completely helpless."
"Not just him…" She decided and leaned back into him. She reached up, stroking a hand across his mask and turning her face so that she could see his eyes. "All of them! I want Tomura to bow before me. I want every member of the league at my feet, pleading for their lives." She turned into him now, her eyes lit with a dangerous hunger for violence. "I want those villainous bastards to feel my pain, and to know that they betrayed the only hero who could possibly save them."
Overhaul looked into the face of the young woman before him. Saw the crazed look of grief and anger, and had to smile at it.
Oh All for One, you old fool, he thought as he removed his mask and let it hang around his neck. You created the ultimate weapon, a being of pure hate and chaos, but pointed its fury directly at you.
He kissed her, pulling her body so that it pressed firm on his. She went pliant against him, her lips, tongue, and teeth feasting on the banquet of flavors he was presenting her. Little by little he released her, their breath coming out in huge heaves. She noted his skin was breaking out again, and gave him a little more room by taking a full step back. It was a small motion, but one he appreciated immensely.
"If you can pull this demonstration off without a hitch..." He said, after catching his breath. "... I will personally arrange for you to get what you desire."
"Well then…" Izumi's smile spread wickedly again. "I better not mess this up."
~D-Day: Kyushu, 7:45pm~
Hawks cruised over the evening view of the city with his intern Tokoyami in tow. The nervous teen looked down at the brilliant cityscape with obvious tension.
"Relax, Tsukoyami… why aren't you enjoying the view?"
"We've… become the wind... " He said with his usual grim tone full of fear.
"Is this your first time flying?" Hawks glanced down at him in surprise.
"Yes…" He swallowed hard. "I may be a bird, but I don't have wings so I've never flown."
"Well now that's a shame, isn't it?" Hawks teased and flapped his wings to make them soar higher. Tokoyami lost his breath and tried not to flail around. "I asked for you, 20% because we're birds of a feather, and 50% because I wanted to hear about the USJ incident. The other 30% was because I thought you were wasting your potential."
"Huh?" Tokoyami temporarily forgot his fear and glanced up at his mentor.
"The sky is great, yah know." Hawks eyed the night sky with affection, the full moon, the city lights, the wisps of clouds. The sky was his home, and he loved it. "You can get a bird's eye view of everything."
"You… thought I was wasting my potential?" Tokoyami questioned and relaxed as his feet touched down at the top of a tall satellite tower. Both he and Hawks looked out at the city again, the wind rustling over their clothes.
"It's good that you're working on overcoming your short-range weaknesses… but you shouldn't forget to develop what you're good at. You can move more freely." He placed his hands on his hips, his smile soft but confident. "I'm not really interested in raising up the next generation of heroes but… we're birds of a feather, right?"
He turned towards him and motioned him forward a little. Tokoyami hesitated and slowly pulled himself away from the base of the tower and out further on the ledge. He looked out at the city, the fear was overwhelmed by his sense of wonder and excitement.
"As birds… we're meant to fly."
~Meanwhile~
"I've spotted him. He's on the observation tower and he's not alone. He's got some black bird boy with him." Tengu reported into his comlink.
"Did you say a black bird boy?" Izumi questioned, her thoughts immediately leaning towards Tokoyami… "Give me a better description, does he have wings like Hawks?"
"No, he's got a black bird head, but human arms and legs…" he paused, hearing Izumi laugh. "Boss?"
"Well holy shit, it is him. Huh, Tokoyami is interning with the number one hero. Nice job, old friend." She laughed again covering her mouth with the back of her hand. "Well this just made things far more interesting."
"Did you just say he's a friend of yours?" Tengu lowered the binoculars. "Should we abort the mission?"
"Absolutely not… if anything this completely works in our favor." She climbed into the back of the truck and leapt atop the roof. Surrounding her were the members of Team Reservoir Dogs, hyped up and ready to cause some chaos. She'd provided them all with new gear and costumes, as well as supplying them a single shot of the quirk enhancement serum for emergencies. "It's showtime, boys. Let's provide some first class entertainment."
"Alright! You heard Black! Let's do this!" Red put on his red wolf-shaped bone mask, and howled.
"Yeah! I'm ready to tear shit up!" Yellow bunched his fists, his yellow bull mask doing little to hide his identity, but he liked how fierce it made him look.
"Man, this new gear is awesome!" Green marveled the semi-automatic weapons on his arms, the liard-like mask pairing well with his obscure looks. "I feel like I can take on the world."
"That's exactly what we're doing, Green!" Blue laughed, and jumped into the driver's seat, his Fox max perfect for his sly personality and slim looks. "We're challenging the world!"
"That's right, and with our new leader Black on our side, there's no way we can lose!"
"Just remember to follow the plan boys…" Izumi pulled out a flare gun and aimed it up at the sky. "We can't afford any mistakes."
"Yes Boss!" They chanted together, and Blue revved up his engine.
"On your mark…" Izumi started the countdown, her body humming as they began to stir up attention. "Get Set…" She could hear people skittering away, and others getting on the phone with the police. Her smile spread wickedly from behind her dragon mask and she fired off the flare off. "GO!"
As the single flare went off, dusting the sky with a red smokey powder she leapt off the back of the truck and let it speed off towards its destination. She then ducked into an alleyway and intercepted the first hero who came to check what had caused the flare.
Aside from Hawks, Izumi knew that the other heroes in the area were still at sidekick level. Mediocre at best, and easy targets to take down.
"Black, Hawks is on the move. He's headed your way."
"And the kid?" She asked, quickly knocking out the next hero that came up to take her down.
"In tow… He's moving fast so you don't have much time."
"Has the team arrived at the bank yet?" She ducked back into the alley and made a quick dash through the dark streets. She heard the murmur of pedestrians telling the incoming heroes in which direction she was going.
"Almost, Blue had to cut through some traffic but the second route you gave him is less crowded so he's detrouring."
"Good, at least he listened. I was worried those idiots would just bulldoze right through." She halted as two heroes stepped up to intercept her. She kicked a trash can into one and whirled around to punch the other and wound herself around his body to use him as a shield for the back attack that came her way.
"The Blue flare is up!" Tengu called out, and Izumi's eyes lifted up to see the shining beacon from their position. "Hawks is changing course for the bank. As predicted, he's prioritizing current events and leaving you to his sidekicks. You're in the clear."
"Good…" To play her part she burst open the window of a closed jewelry store, and started shoving jewelry and cash into a bag. She heard the sirens of police coming her way and quickly made her escape out the back. "Rappa, you're up. Take down your target, and make it fast!"
"Don't give me orders, shrimp!" He shouted into his comlink making her flinch as it screeched. Still she heard the rapid fire beats of his fists, shouts and screams echoing around him as he took out the people in his way.
"Stop being a dick! I don't care how you get it done, Rappa, just take out the target!" She yelled back at him.
"Grrrrr FINE!" Rappa plowed his fist into the last guard then turned his fists to the target at hand. The control panel for the power grid went up in smoke and the entire system shut down. All the lights in the entire city of Kyushu shut down, sending everyone into the black abyss of night. The only lights were now the stream of cars still on the road.
"What the hell?" Hawks paused above the city looking down and around. He carefully landed, setting Tokoyami down and placed a hand to his comlink. "Status report, what the hell is going on?"
There was momentary static, before he finally heard his dispatch on the line.
"Sorry, Hawks, We just got the emergency generators up. From what we can tell It's some kind of villain attack, but we're unsure where it's originating. I tried getting a hold of teams alpha and beta but they're not responding."
"What about the powerplant? Have you been able to reach any of the authorities there?"
"Negative, nothing but static."
"Sounds like the villains are really familiar with hero protocol. These aren't amateurs we're dealing with." Hawks scowled. "How soon before we can get the power back up for the whole city?"
"Without proper communication it may take as long as an hour."
"Too slow… I'm gonna have to go in blindly. Tsukuyomi...' Hawks laid a hand on his shoulder. "You have a harder time controlling your quirk in the dark, right?"
"I have gained some control, but yes in this amount of darkness I can't safely unleash it. I'd only be a burden to you." He hung his head shamefully.
"Alright, then I need you to be my eyes on the ground." He opened a pocket and pulled out a spare comlink, handing it to him. "Take to the streets, get statements from witnesses if you can, but do not engage. If you see the enemy, inform me of your location and I'll come directly to you. Understood?"
"Yes, Hawks!" Suddenly wishing he was back in his hero costume, Tokoyami ran to the fire escape and scaled down the building. He couldn't risk using Dark Shadow to get around, so he relied heavily on his physical training. He made it to the first flare site, and spotted the fallen bodies of several heroes inside the nearby alleyway. The witnesses he spoke to spoke of a woman in all black making her way towards the diamond district.
"Hawks, I've got a lead." Tokoyami told him. "A woman in black, I'm following her trail, I'll let you know once I've spotted her."
"Good work. I found the second team, but it may take longer than expected. They're heavily armed, and I'm not as combat strong as I'd like to be." He admitted and tape his comlink. "Dispatch, I need some back up."
"None of the patrol teams are responding, Hawks."
"None of them?" Hawks narrowed his eyes and clenched his fists. "Alright, send word outside the city. Tell them we may have a level nine disturbance and I'm requesting outside backup."
"Rodger!"
"Alright… here goes nothing." Hawks took a deep breath and he sent a barrage of feathers down, retrieving the stolen goods and lifting them up high and out of reach of the criminals. "Yo! Don't you fellas know that the banks are closed after dark? If you wanna make a withdrawal you'll need to come back in the morning."
"Oh, our bad, Hawks." Green aimed his weapons at him. "Let us show you how sorry we are!" He scattered bullets all around, the darkness working against him as he pelleted the windows instead and scattered glass everywhere.
The sounds of helicopters flying overhead, gave Hawks a sense of relief. News reporters were now on site, which meant that his back-up wasn't far behind. He placed the goods on the roof of the building and then elongated two feathers to use as weapons. He landed and pointed the feathers towards them.
"Might I suggest you surrender now. I don't take kindly to criminals who mess with my hometown."
"Ha! Black was right, he's stalling for time." Red laughed maniacally. "He doesn't want to fight us head on."
"Black?" Hawks tilted his head and narrowed his eyes.
"Well then let's not give him a choice!" Yellow beat his fists and made a mad dash forward to take him down. "RAUUUUGH!"
"Ugh, I hate working the late shift." Hawks complained and beat his wings up to avoid the collision. Yellow rammed into three parked cars, sending them sailing. Hawks unleashed feathers to quickly evacuate nearby civilian bystanders, which unfortunately made him lose altitude. He narrowly avoided the second rush, and he turned and blocked Red's incoming attack.
There was a spotlight on them now as the news crews videotaped the events unfolding.
"News crews are here." Tengu informed Izumi. "It's nearly time to start the final phase. You should head to the rendezvous point before the power comes back on."
"I'll go there now as I'm pretty much done here. I haven't seen any other sidekicks or heroes, so I've probably lost their interest." She hefted the bag of goods. "It's a bit sad, actually. I could probably keep going and earn enough to retire comfortably."
"That's not our objective though." Tengu reminded her.
"You're right… that's not our objective." She lifted her gun up to eye view. "Let me know once the team has been apprehended so I can send up the final flare."
"Are you sure things will unfold the way you predict? If you get caught."
"I won't." She sighed and hefted the bag of goods over her shoulder. She took a single step forward, paused, then whirled around firing off two rounds into the dark. She heard the slame of a body against a trashcan and wondered if she actually hit her target. "Come on out and fight me hero." She dropped the bag and kept the gun out and carefully aimed. "What are you afraid of?"
"Damn it…" Tokoyami cursed softly as he looked down at the broken comlink in his hand. Just what kind of aim did that woman have that she managed to graze him in just the right spot? His heart rate went up as he heard the sound of her heels against pavement. He had no other choice… he needed to unleash Dark Shadow to protect himself, and pray that the city lights would turn back on to help him stay in control.
"Revelry in the dark…" he murmured and inhaled deeply. He jumped to his feet and called forth his quirk. "Dark Shadow!"
The beast unleashed from his belly, the massive shadow crowding the alley breaking apart brick as it lashed out in the villain's direction.
Then suddenly… much to Tokoyami's shock… Dark Shadow shrieked and shirveled up as a massive burst of flame erupted and sent him cowering back.
"What the MNNNG!" He felt the shot in his shoulder and fell back to the ground. He lay down holding the point of impact… but felt no blood. "What the-"
"You really need to stop relying so heavily on your quirk, Tokoyami Fumikage." The woman in black stood over him, and he lifted his eyes up to get his first full view of her. He couldn't quite make out the face in the dark, but the way she towered over him was like a vulture ready to devour a dying animal.
"How… how do you know my name?"
"I watch the Sports Fest like many others… and you stood out with your omni-directional quirk and dark persona." She crouched down, her eyes glowing in the dark light. "A pity you haven't matched the strength of your body to that of your quirk."
"What is it you- MMNNNG!" Suddenly he bowled over, his body growing hot and his head pounding. "Augh! What's happening."
"Well now… seems I was right to use you as a Beta test." She grinned from behind her mask. "Seeing its affects in person gives me a whole new perspective to the drug I'm selling."
"Drug… you drugged me? Am I gonna die?"
"Oh no, no, relax handsome. Sit up… deep easy breaths." She helped him up, staying crouched in front of him. "Oh yeah… I wasn't sure if it would affect the heteromorphic qualities, but it absolutely does."
"What are you talking about? What have you done to-" Tokoyami felt off… disoriented and whoozy for sure, but it was more than that. He felt… disconnected… as if a piece of himself was missing. "Dark Shadow?"
"Bingo…" she poked his nose, his human nose, and the look that came on Tokoyami's human face had Izumi giggling.
"I'm… my face…" he touched his face and strung fingers through long black hair, his red eyes beady with shock and fear. "My quirk… you took away my quirk. Are you in league with All for One?!"
The humor that had spread on Izumi's face instantly died. She smacked him hard across the face, his head jerking to the side.
"OW! What the hell was-" He started to retort but fell back as she pinned him down to the ground. "Get off me!"
"No…" She placed a hand over his eyes, as the other lifted her mask up off her face. She leaned the rest of the way in and kissed him right on his lips.
Tokoyami's face went bright red, and his hands fidgeted at his side, not sure what to do or how to react to this new feeling inside him. Never in his life did he ever expect to feel the sensation of being kissed. Having grown up with a bird head, he'd come to terms with the fact he'd never be able to properly kiss someone… but now that he was, he realized exactly what he'd been missing out on.
This feeling, this act of physical intimacy was… intoxicating to say the least. He only wished that his first and probably his only kiss would be with a villain.
"Mmmm…" She pulled back placing her mask back on before allowing him to see again. The stunned and stirred up look in his face had he giggling again. "That's better. It's a pity this change isn't permanent yet."
She punched him hard in the face, knocking him out cold.
"You're actually kinda cute this way."
She stood up and rubbed her lips clean.
"Forgive me, Overhaul. I couldn't resist the temptation." Her head lifted up as the lights in the city started to come on a little at a time.
"The reservoir dogs have blown through their drugs, and have been detained by Hawks and the visiting heroes. Are you ready for the closer?"
"Yeah…let's finish this." She checked her weapon, scowling at the near empty clip. She'd wasted two bullets on a scare tactic, and two others on misfires during combat, and finally a fifth on Tokoyami. "Damn… only one left." She lifted her head up to the nearest skyscraper. It wasn't the ending she'd been aiming for, but it would have to do."Guess I better make it count."
~With Hawks~
The final flare shot up in the sky, catching the attention of Hawks, and the other two pros who had come to assist. Hawks narrowed his eyes and looked down at the worn out and drugged up villains.
"What's that flare mean?"
"It's a death sentence…" Red laughed and spat blood at his feet. "Means that Black has completed her objective and is waiting for us. When we don't show, then she'll come for us, and make you wish you were never born."
"Bold words from someone who just ate first." Miruko planted her foot in his face, and then turned to Hawks. "Black, huh? Must be the ringleader. Want me to track him down?"
"No… keep this group pinned down. The big one may get ideas about running loose once he wakes up."
"You're going to take him on alone, then?" Miruko scowled. "It could be a trap."
"It's not could be… it is a trap… but there's no way they concocted this whole plan just to rob a bank. No, something else is up and I'm gonna find out what it is."
~With Izumi~
Izumi checked her watch for the time, and wondered if she was wrong in her assumptions about Hawks. From what little she knew she pegged him as a cock and confident sort of hero with the skills to back it up. He was talkative, brazen, and eager to meet a challenge…
...but he had to know full well she was setting up a trap. Why would he willingly walk right into it just to interrogate her? He wasn't that stupid. Was he?
"Yo!"
Izumi nearly laughed and tilted her head up to the sky. He really was that stupid.
"Why are heroes so predictable?"
"Maybe because villains are just as predictable?" He shrugged off the insult, as the girl turned her head back just a little to eye him.
"Hmmm…" she smiled a little. "You may actually be right about that."
"I usually am." He gave another careless shrug then looked her up and down. "You know, you're a lot younger and cuter than your teammates made you out to be."
"Appearances can be deceiving… but you know that."
"I do, just like I know you're far smarter and superior in skill than the team you aligned yourself with." He tapped his temple. "I'm curious as to why you set up this grand plan, and what your ultimate goal is."
"Is there a reason as to why I should share that information with you? You clearly have defeated my team and are here to arrest me, so divulging my plans aren't gonna change the outcome." She held her hands out as if to say "you got me."
"You team member, red, seems to believe you have the ability to kill me." Hawks informed.
"Oh I can kill you," she sighed heavily and crossed her arms. "The truth of the matter is… I really wish I didn't have to."
"Because violence, and death are the only things capable of garnering public attention."
Ah, Hawks realized with a quiet smirk. There it was… the final puzzle piece.
"... and you want to make a statement."
"A big one…" she turned towards him. "The world is sick. Each and every single member of this populace has been infected and we're in desperate need for a cure. One that I and my associates can provide."
"You sure about that?" Hawks held his chin and tilted his head in an open taunt. "I just got vaccinated not that long ago."
"You're cute…" she spared him a laugh. "... but no. This is a mental illness. One brought upon years of dependency."
"I see… and what's the sickness called?"
"Hero syndrome… and the cause, my friend, was brought upon by the world's ingrained dependency of quirks and those who abuse them. Villains, heroes, both are guilty of the damage… and there's only one way to cure it."
"The world's not going to suddenly change because you want it to, Black."
"Oh trust me, I know that first hand, because I've tried to fix it before." She clenched her fists at her side and let the tears go thick in her throat. "I couldn't. No matter how hard I tried I just couldn't."
"Hey, come on now, no need for the waterworks… WHOA!" His blood ran cold when she pulled a gun from her pocket and pointed it at her head. "Whoa, hey hold on now." Hawks didn't like where this was going. He took a step closer to her, and she stepped back, nearly to the very edge of the building. She knew full well he could catch her with his feathers, but not before she blew her own brains out. Was she planning to commit suicide in order for her story to be heard? "Put the gun down, Black. There's no need for you to end your life. We can still help save them."
"How?" She screamed at him, almost hysterically now. "I tried doing the right thing, I tried helping people the only way I knew how… but there's no point. You can't heal someone who doesn't believe they're sick. You can't save people who don't want to be saved. The only thing you can do is to try and convince them that they do need saving, that they are sick… but no one wants to listen!"
"I'm listening, Black! I can help you, but you have to let me." He held out his hand and took another step closer. "I'm the number one hero… if I tell the world what's happening, they'll listen to me."
"You'll…" Izumi looked at his hand, fidgeting in place, her hand shakily holding the gun. "You'll tell them everything? Even if you don't believe it's true?"
"If you really believe that there's a way to make everyone's lives better, then of course I will. It's my job to help other people, after all. It's what heroes do." He sent her a charming smile.
"It's… what heroes do." A single solitary tear fell down her cheek and she lowered the gun from her head.
"That's it… good girl." He took the gun from her hand and helped her step down. He allowed her to hug him and he gently patted the top of her head. He picked her up princess style and floated above the building. "It's gonna be okay, now, I promise."
"No…" She quietly sobbed into his chest as she pulled the second gun from her pocket. "It really won't."
"Shit!" Hawks dropped her, but not before the gun went off getting him right in the chest. He flailed as his feathers fell limp to the ground rendering him flightless. Both of them fell towards the ground. Hawks felt the girl grab him by the wrist and arm and suddenly their descented halted.
"Sorry about that…" The two of them suspended mid-air by sentient aura, and he looked up fearfully as Izumi removed her mask tucking it into her jacket. "...but you really shouldn't believe the lies a villain tells you."
"Izumi… Midoriya?" Hawks let out a short laugh that was a mix of fear and amusement. "You gotta be shitting me."
"No…" Despite the crazed look in her eyes, tears were slipping down her face. "My name… is Black Phoenix… and I didn't come here to save anyone."
"You don't have to do this, Izumi. I know you don't want to do this!" Hawks looked into her eyes, his hands and legs trying to get a firmer grip on her. "Please! Don't go down this path again! All Might vouched for you! You can still be a hero, you can still save the people you care about!"
"You're wrong! Saving people is what heroes do, and I'm not a hero!" She sobbed it out, almost hysterically. "I'm a villain, I've always been a villain. The only thing I'm good at…" She lifted up her free hand, the heat in her palm radiating. "... is watching the world burn!"
"Izumi No!" Hawks screamed as Izumi slammed her open palm to his face, knocking away his grip and causing him to fall twenty stories down. His body crash landed atop of an S.U.V. people screaming horrifically as they all look up to see what had caused him to fall. Izumi quickly put on her mask and floated back to the top of the building. Helicopters flew in to take video of the horrific tragedy. One of them descended to her rooftop and Izumi climbed in to sit in the back behind Tengu.
"If that doesn't get their attention, then nothing will." He commented even as he brought the copter up and away from the mass hysteria.
"Where's Rappa?" Izumi removed her mask again.
"Said he'd find his own way back. He doesn't care for heights."
"Good… I don't need him to see this." She put her head between her legs, buried her face in her hands, and sobbed hysterically.
