Chapter Twenty-One, Date Night
Coming home after taking Jace to the park just a Mummy-Son day as it had been sunny earlier and Jasper couldn't join them, Valerie walked through the front door and was about to call for Jasper to let him know they were home when she spotted something. Rose petals leading from the front door and up the stairs. Wondering what was going on, Valerie followed them until she came up to a stop outside the bathroom where a note was pinned to the door. Pulling Jace up higher on her hip, she ripped it off the door and her heart melted at the words.
Dear my beautiful fiancée,
I know the past few months have been rather stressful for you, so I decided to do something special for you. The trail of rose petals represent my love for you, and that I would follow you anywhere my darlin'. I know we've had several dates but I can never get enough of them. For they mean my alone time with you.
You truly mean the world to me my precious fiancée and I would do anything to see you smile. So, inside the bathroom are clothes Rose picked out for you. Please change into them and follow the rose petals back down the stairs and out into the garden, where I will be waiting for my beautiful fiancée and my handsome son, before Rose takes him.
I can't wait to have cuddles with you both after being separated all day by my true nature. I love you so much, my love, and it continues to grow for you each and every day. I am so blessed to be marrying you in a few short months and I couldn't be happier to get such a wonderful blessing as you and our handsome son.
I love you Always.
After all this time? Always
Your Jasper xxxxx
Sniffling Valerie wiped away the tears running down her face, holding the letter close to her chest before slipping it into her bag, wanting to keep it, and entering the bathroom.
"Mama. Dada?" Jace asked, playing with his mother's necklace.
"We're going to go find him, baby." Valerie said, kissing his forehead. On the sink was the outfit Rosalie had picked out for her; a black halter top, a green tartan skirt, and silver heels. Along with an outfit for Jace consisting on a white T-shirt, a woolly black jumper, blue jeans and brown cowboy boots. Valerie quickly changed Jace's outfit and his nappy before giving him some toys to keep him occupied while she quickly changed. Putting her previously worn clothes in the laundry basket, Valerie quickly slipped on her leather jacket as it was chilly, put Jace's coat on before picking him back up.
"Can you see anymore flowers baby?" Valerie asked Jace. Jace beamed at his mother and pointed down at the floor. "My clever boy, good boy Jace." Valerie praised, kissing his forehead and making him giggle as they left the bathroom. They followed the rose petals that Jace spotted back downstairs after dropping her handbag and changing bag off in her room. Mother and son duo followed the petals throughout the house and out into the garden via the kitchen. Valerie spotted a white gazebo set up with fairy lights strung all around it, soft music was playing and underneath it at the end of the petal trail, stood Jasper smiling at both of them. Jasper looked handsome in his navy button up shirt, dark beige jeans and white trainers.
"Dada!" Jace shouted happily, making his parents laugh.
"Jasper, this is wonderful. Thank you." Valerie exclaimed happily, kissing him lovingly. "And you look very handsome."
"You're welcome darlin'." Jasper said, kissing her forehead and wrapping his arms around her waist. "You deserve it and more, and you look so beautiful darlin'. And you my lil wolf look very handsome I love the cowboy boots." Jasper said, taking Jace into his arms and peppering his little face in kisses making the baby laugh. "I truly am the luckiest man alive." Jasper said, tilting Valerie's head up gently for another kiss this one a little more passionate then the other because it was filled with all of their love and adoration for each other.
"Right shall we let Mama and Dada have some alone time, Jace? And you come play with auntie Rosie?" Rosalie asked, walking up to them holding her hands for Jace. Jace giggled and went willingly into Rosalie's arms but not before he leaned towards Valerie from jaspers arms and gave his mother a hug and a kiss, Jasper
getting a kiss which made Rose and Valerie laugh while Jasper pouted.
"I see she's still fully a Mummy's boy." Rosalie teased her brother.
"He has his moments of a Daddy's boy." Jasper denied, which just made them laugh more.
"Jazz, honey. You know you just proved Rosie's point right?" Valerie asked, giggling at the look on his face.
"Rose what have you and Iris done to my Val? You've turned her against me?" Jasper cried dramatically.
"And you dear brother, have been round Emmett too much." Rosalie drawled, rolling her eyes at Jasper as they all descended into laughter. "Val, girls day tomorrow?" Rose asked.
"I'd like that." Valerie agreed happily.
"Alright then I'll pick you at nine tomorrow morning. This little one is having a sleepover at Grandma Esme's house." Rose said, rubbing noses with Jace making him giggle. After Jasper and Valerie hugged and kissed Jace goodbye they relaxed in each other's arms swaying to the music, though Valerie was curious why Jace was sleeping over at Esme's.
"I thought it would be a good idea, so you can get some proper sleep, my love." Jasper said, kissing her forehead, no doubt sensing Valerie's emotions. "Since the intruder, and the Full Moon on top of everything you haven't slept well even with your pack outside and me beside you. It's not your fault darlin' don't apologise." Jasper said, firmly when Valerie went to open her mouth.
"I haven't relaxed fully either. Fearing he would come back into our room or Jace's. He's our son of course we're worried for him. So, I thought he could have a sleepover with one of his grandmas so you can get some real sleep. I know how exhausted you are." Jasper explained.
"Jasper," Valerie said, placing a hand on his cheek. "I can never get over how thoughtful you are. You may think you're the happiest man alive. But I know that I'm the luckiest woman alive. I love you so much." Valerie said, wrapping her arms around his neck and placing a sweet tender kiss to his lips.
"I love you so much too Valerie." Jasper said, softly against her lips when they pulled back as they continued their dancing.
It was a lovely peaceful evening as they sat under the stars talking and having the dinner Jasper had prepared for Valerie. When it started to get too cold they went inside and Jasper drew Valerie a bubble bath with scented candles lining the bathroom.
"Take as long as you want darlin'." Jasper said, kissing her lips after lighting the last candle. "I'll be downstairs with your father." Valerie kissed him and thanking him softly before he left and she locked and shut the door. Climbing into the hot bath, soaking and relaxing for the first time in ages after she cleaned herself and washed her hair. When the water started going cold after an hour, Valerie decided it was time to get out as she was starting to drift off, which would not be a good idea. As she was wrapping a towel around her there was a knock on the door.
"Princess, are you alright in there?" Charlie's worried voice came through the door.
"Yeah sorry Dad. I was drifting off." Valerie apologised, quickly blowing out the candles and unlocking the door.
"It's okay Princess, I was just worried. Go get some rest." Charlie said, kissing her forehead.
"Night Dad." Valerie said.
"Night Princess. Night Jasper." Charlie bid heading into his own room.
"How was your bath darlin'?" Jasper asked, from his spot on the bed.
"It was perfect Jasper. Thank you." Valerie sighed happily, drying off her hair.
"Good. Well it's not over yet. Come here, love." Jasper said, patting the bed beside him as he put lavender oil on his hands.
Valerie sighed happily as Jasper worked all of the knots out of her shoulders and back, his hands working wonders. That night Valerie went to sleep fully relaxed and had the best nights sleep she's had in ages.
The next morning Valerie woke up feeling extremely refreshed but that didn't mean she wanted to move from snuggling with Jasper. But the meanie just laughed at her.
"Shh, I'm sleeping and trying to snuggle with my fiancé but he's being mean." Valerie scolded, slapping his chest gently.
"I'm sorry Ma'am." Jasper apologised, kissing her head and pulling her closer to him, Valerie could just see that damn smirk on his face. "How'd you sleep sweetheart?"
"The best I've slept in ages. Thank you." Valerie sighed happily, propping herself up on her elbow and kissing his lips tenderly running her free hand through his hair, his hands holding tightly to her hips.
"Good I'm glad baby." Jasper said happily, pressing another kiss to her lips. "But we should get up otherwise my sister will kill me." Jasper said reluctantly. "You get ready darlin' and I'll bring you up some breakfast." Jasper said, pressing a kiss to her lips once more before climbing out of bed. Groaning Valerie climbed out of bed herself and changed into the clothes she was going to wear today, a high neck beige-white and black stripped, long sleeved top, black jeans, black heeled boots, a black leather jacket and hair was in a half-up style either a fishtail braid.
"Thank you Jazz." Valerie said, kissing his cheek as she sat on the edge of the bed.
"Your welcome darlin'." Jasper said, placing the tray carefully on her lap. "And you look gorgeous baby." Jasper complimented, making Valerie blush as he started getting himself ready.
After his shower he changed into dark grey trousers, a grey top and an off white jumper looking very hot and it made his blonde hair stand out.
"You look very handsome babe." Valerie said, kissing his cheek on the way to the bathroom to complete her morning routine and doing her makeup with light brown eyeshadow, eye liner, mascara and red lipstick. Opening the door she saw Jasper standing there with her handbag in his hand smiling at her.
"Rose and Iris just pulled up, have a good time baby and I'll meet you at Esme's." Jasper said, kissing Valerie passionately and tenderly all at once.
"Thank you Jazz. Have a good day too and give Jace a hug and kiss from me." Valerie asked, as they walked out of the house, saying bye to Dad and then to each other, as he got in his car as he was going hunting and then joining the hunt for the intruder and Valerie got in the back of Rose's red convertible.
"Hi Rosie. Hi Iris." Valerie said, giving them a hug once she got in the car.
"Hi Val." Rose and Iris said, turning around to give Valerie a hug. "Jace is fine before you ask he's with Alice and Esme." Rosalie laughed, as they pulled out of the driveway.
"Now, what's the matter? I know somethings up." Iris asked Valerie. Sighing Valerie looked down at her lap, her hands playing with her handbag.
"I know you both know what happened to me after Jason." Valerie started hesitantly. "I was lost. And because of it I'm scared to go further with Jasper..." I started but Iris cut her off.
"In case you lose him too." Iris finished, getting a nod from Valerie.
"And this time it'll be worse as he's my mate, my other half." Valerie added.
"Val, it's okay." Rose said, looking at her through the mirror while Iris turned around and covered Valerie's hand.
"Jasper understands and he would never force you to do anything you're not ready for or don't want to do. And your his mate too. If anyone understands what it feels like it's Jasper."
"I know and he's been amazing but I want to Rose. I'm scared to, I guess." Valerie finished lamely, shrugging her shoulders.
"I was scared to complete the bond with Emmett too." Rosalie said, after a few minutes of silence. "My fiancé Royce King Jr was an eligible bachelor and the most popular man in town and he ended up being mine. I was young and in love with the idea of love. I wanted a family, a nice house and a husband who kissed me when I or he came home. On the last night of my life, I was heading home after leaving a friends house late.
I was visiting her and her newborn son, her house wasn't far from my own home so I denied her husbands offer of walking me home. That was a mistake, I bumped into Royce standing around a corner drunk and still drinking with a group of his friends, they attacked me. They left me in the street thinking I was dead, I wanted to be. Carlisle found me, he smelled all the blood and thought he was helping me. But, I got my revenge on them one at a time and left Royce for last so he knew I was coming, dressed up in a wedding dress so he thought I was some white woman ghost hunting him. I was a little theatrical back then." Rosalie laughed quietly. "Things got better after I found Emmett and Iris, my best friend, they helped me and they still help me everyday, especially on the bad days. And I can see Jasper does the same for you Val and I know he will be just like my Emmett." Rosalie assured. Valerie grabbed her shoulder squeezing it tightly as tears ran down her cheeks, feeling horrible her friend had to go through that.
"I'm so sorry that happened to you Rosie. I'll be here for you whenever you need me, and thank you." Valerie said sincerely, wiping away her tears.
"Thank you Val." Rose said smiling softly at her. "You're a true friend and the best sister I could ever wish for. Just promise us you won't rush yourself into anything, you'll take the step when you're ready and not before. Now, let's go get our nails done." Rose said, pulling the car over after Valerie promised them she wouldn't rush herself.
After a few hours of what Rose and Iris called therapeutic shopping after they had their nails done they headed back to their house, Valerie really wanted to see her Prince. But it had been an amazing time, Rose and Valerie were feeling much better than this morning and Rosie, Iris and Valerie were closer then they were before, if that were possible. They had just walked up the stairs when they heard the news:
'Seattle is in a state of terror. Police are baffled by the escalating murders and disappearances. Theories range from a vicious new gang to a wildly active serial killer. Reporting live...' Before it was shut off and we heard talking.
"It's getting worse. We're going to have to do something." Carlisle said.
"It takes more than one of our kind to cause the damage they're reporting." Jasper told them. "Quite a few more. And they're undisciplined, conspicuous. Newborns. Hi darlin'."
"Hi Jazz." Valerie greeted, placing the bags on the ground and seating herself on his lap and kissing his lips passionately. "Where's Jace?"
"He's in the garden with Esme, Alice and now Iris." Carlisle explained, as Iris headed towards the garden.
"Did you, Iris and Val buy the whole shop, Rose?" Emmett asked, looking between the amount of bags they all had as she sat besides him.
"It was therapeutic shopping Emmett. We needed it." Rosalie challenged her husband rolling her eyes at him for no doubt questioning her shopping habits. Emmett just raised his hands in surrender making Valerie laugh.
"And I picked up our invitations. I've sent the ones going to Jacksonville, Houston and Vancouver off already so they get there in time. Is that okay? Do you like them?" Valerie asked, taking them out to show Jasper.
"They're perfect Val, they've come out exactly how we designed them and thank you, sweetheart. But, are you okay darlin'?" Jasper asked, frowning in concern, obviously catching on to what Rose meant. Smiling Valerie kissed him and nodded her head, snuggling into his arms as Jasper tightened them around her and kissed her temple.
"I am now." Valerie promised. "I was just doubting myself and overthinking." Valerie assured.
"Know I'm always here for you baby." Jasper swore, kissing Valerie's neck as she swore the same to him before they turned back to the previous conversation after they had assured one another and offered words of love.
"Newborns are when you're uncontrollable, vicious and insane with thirst after the change right?" Valerie asked, remembering to what Jasper and her mother had told her.
"Yes darlin'." Jasper said kissing her temple. "No one's trained these newborns, but this isn't random."
"Someone's creating an army." Carlise realised.
"Well, now we're definitely going to Seattle." Emmett said excited jumping off the sofa.
"Calm down Emmett!" Rosalie scolded.
"And they've been created to fight someone. We're the only coven even close to Seattle." Jasper sighed holding Valerie closer.
"Regardless of why they were made, if we don't put a stop to them, the Volturi will. I'm surprised they've let it go on this long." Carlisle said surprised.
"Carlisle," Alice said, coming into the living room with Esme and Iris who was holding Jace, who immediately reached for Valerie. He looked adorable in the clothes Alice had dressed him in; black jeans and a red long sleeved Mickey Mouse T-shirt with light brown shoes.
"Hello baby. I've missed you so much." Valerie exclaimed, hugging him close, breathing in his scent and kissing all over Jace's face; smiling at his little giggles and chants of Mama, meaning he missed his Mummy as much as Valerie missed him. Tuning back into the conversation Jace back in Valerie's arms snuggling into her like how Valerie was snuggled into Jasper.
"We know that Aro wanted Edward, Iris, Jasper and I. And I'm sure he'll want Val too as she'll be the first Hybrid as far as we know and could have a rare power. We don't have to worry about Edward, but he knows that I'll never join him as long as my family is alive the same goes for Val. It's why I've been watching his decisions." Alice explained.
"An army could solve that for him." Jasper and Emmett growled, becoming protective of Alice, Iris and Valerie respectively.
Arriving back home Jasper and Valerie walk into the kitchen with Jace on her hip, spotting her Dad sat at the kitchen table going over the missing person files.
"Hi Dad." Valerie greeted, strapping Jace into his high chair while Jasper fixed him up some dinner. "Did you eat dinner yet?"
"Er, no I haven't." Charlie replied distracted, sighing as he shuffled the papers. "This kid, Riley Biers, disappeared over a year ago, and his poor parents have been papering Seattle with these ever since. Could he have been changed into a vampire?" Charlie asked Jasper.
Jasper paused in making dinner, while Valerie took over as he turned around to face Charlie.
"It's more than likely." Jasper sighed. "What's happening in Seattle we think it's newborns, new vampires. As we suspect someone's creating an army, we're not sure for what purpose but we're gonna have to step in soon." Jasper explained.
"An army of vampires." Charlie said stunned, Jasper nodded before continuing to help Valerie make dinner.
