Chapter 1
We weren't sure when the Lunai would attack again. We all stayed at my parents place until then. It felt kinda dumb, just lying in wait for our impending doom; but all the adults in our family wanted to leave matters to them and let all us kids go on without worry. That wasn't gonna happen. I was lying in bed, while Rosie and her father; both now back in their human form slept on the pull out bed in the couch. I then heard voices coming from outside. I got up and pulled my curtain back a tad. My grandma and grandpa were out in the driveway talking. I opened my window to hear them better.
"Ben...remember when I said that our children have to grow up and face things on their own...I did mean that, but not like this."
"I know Angel...I know...and this..."
My grandpa Ben sighed and took out a cigarette. I watched him smoke it as the light from the lighter illuminated his face.
"This is a lot like Vilgax...when he tried to take over...but these are creatures we know nothing about...regardless I'm going to have to take care of this before it gets out of hand."
"Ben...you can't do it by yourself."
"I'm not! I have you and Gwen and Kevin and Harmione...we've all fought together before and we won."
"Baby I'm just saying...you're not as young as you used to be...you get burned out everytime you transform now...we haven't even told Harmione or the boys about your heart...it hasn't been doing too good lately...and this you promised you'd stop this..."
Hope took the cigarette from his mouth and tossed it on the ground. She then stomped on it.
"Kevin had a knee surgery, Gwen's been doing therapy for her anxiety. Me...Ben...I...I'm not as agile and my mental and magical energies are almost exhausted. You...you have injures from battles we've been in. We've been doing this for almost 30 years."
"And you think I'm gonna quit...just because I'm a little beat up...that we should just throw in the towel?!"
"Sweetheart...think about this please...we need help..."
"Angel...I...I can call Rook...maybe Cooper...I could get a team together...but most of them are like us...old...worn out...and just not what we used to be...but I'm not gonna let that stop me from protecting the planet...it's what I do...it's what I've always done...and I'll do it again even if I die doing it."
I looked down and closed my window. I had heard enough. I put on my jeans and a t-shirt. I then threw on a plaid button up top over it, as well as a jacket. I then put on my converse shoes and grabbed a bag. I tossed in my medication, and a couple of snacks. I quietly tip toed into my sister's room and grabbed some of their clothes. Juju whined and followed me down the hallway.
"Juju...ssh."
I held out a chain.
"Want to help me save the world?"
Juju panted and barked.
"Ssh!"
I waved my hand over Juju. There was one spell I knew I could do. Other than that it was strictly telekinesis and my visions.
"Revertere petram." I whispered.
He turned into a stone rock necklace. I put it on and awoke Rosie. She gasped and I covered her mouth with my hand.
"Ssh, its just me."
"What are you doing?"
"We're gonna save the planet."
"We are?"
"We would if you'd get up and follow me."
I met her outside in the backyard. She pulled her hair out of the back of her jacket.
"What do you mean we? And we couldn't my mother tried and failed...what chance to we have if we-"
"We have to have hope...look I'm a lot smarter than those creatures...I can predict their moves long before they make them...I have telekinesis...it has to be of some use to us...and then there's you...half plant powers, half anodite...we can do it...and I have Juju..."
I showed her my necklace.
"I really think together we can stop this...all you have to do is transport us to your planet where they are."
"We'll need help...food...supplies..."
"Got it...we just need one more thing."
We went to Harvey's and I threw rocks at his bedroom window. He came to it shirtless and dazed.
"Harvey!" I shouted quietly.
"Bryan? Rosie? What are you doing here? It's like one in the morning."
"We figured out everything that's going on Harv, those creatures killed Rosie's mother and took over her planet...now they are coming here to do the same."
"So you...me...and a plant girl are gonna stop an entire army of ugly cows from trying to kill all humanity?"
"Yeah! And Juju too."
"And a rock dog too...Bryan you are out of your mind! That's freaking messed up dude! And hello news flash...earth to Baby Bry I have no powers...human remember? I'm not going out there and letting those things eat my face off...I'm gonna stay right here and edge myself thank you very much."
"Harvey! We need your expertise."
"What are you talking about?"
"Your charm and social engineering. Your psychological manipulation. No one picks locks or hacks computer software faster than you, no one is tougher than you. You're good with diversion, electronic countermeasures, forgery, and organized crime. You've done research on drugs and poisons. You're...my best friend."
"You make me sound like a thug."
"You are, but I love you for it...now please."
"Those things did hurt Lola...and this is our world...I'm not just gonna let them jack it up...cause then I can't jack it up!"
I smiled. He put on his shirt and shoes. He grabbed a jacket and climbed out his bedroom window down the drain pipe.
"And just so you know Bry...if I don't make it out of this alive...I've left everything to you in my will."
"Thanks Harv."
"I know my mom and dad won't approve but...they haven't approved of anything I've done since 6th grade."
"Okay..." I took in a breath. "Rosie...it's your turn now...can you teleport us to Xenon?"
"Yes...I just can't believe we're really doing this...and that you want to help me...my father...and both our worlds...what kind of a person does that?"
"A person that's got a huge crush on you!" Harvey exclaimed. I elbowed him in the stomach.
"You want to crush me?"
"No! No...it means...it means I...It means I...what it means is..."
I felt my pants tighten again. I quickly put my backback over my crotch.
"It means we're really good friends and we'll crush these creatures together."
"Oh..."
Harvey hit me in the back of the head. Rosie then grabbed our hands and teleported us to Xenon. During the bright green flash I heard her say:
"I'm glad we're friends Bry."
