Chapter 9
Hope, Gwen, Kevin and I set out to find Harmione. Azmuth allowed us to transport there through one of his Null Void portal transports. As soon as we got there something unexpected happen.
"Where she would look first?" Charlie's voice spoke out.
"Charlie!" We all said at once.
"I told you to stay with the kids!"
"They are with Azmuth there is no safer place, I wanted to obey you and stay behind but because I had my surgery this whole thing started. I'm one of the weakest links on this family and I intend to show you that I can save Harmione just as well as you can!"
"You want to save her or prove something to yourself?! Stop acting like some dumb kid, your intentions are good but your methods are not, you are reckless and blind by hate and anger you don't even realize how bad you hurt Blossom!"
"Don't judge me! I had to do that!"
"You could have found another way, maybe you got more than just your Dad's kidney, you got his anger."
"I...Okay I was mad...but I let that woman trick me for two weeks Ben...she slept in our bed, ate the food from our table...she touched our kids...she hurt Bryan...I...All I could see was red and Harmione's death on my hands. I've always done the right thing always, I'm not trying to validate it or justify it...I just...this is my charmed life Ben...your daughter gave me that..."
Charlie broke down and began to cry.
"I didn't tell her...I never got the chance...that double was living with us at the time...I didn't want to scare her... My heart stopped twice during surgery...when it was all over they told me my Dad's kidney raised my life expectancy but not by much...the kidney will fail eventually..."
"How long did they give you Charlie?" Hope asked.
"5 years...Bryan will be going into 5th grade by then...and the girls 1st grade...they would still be too little to understand...too little to go on without a father... and those two weeks she's been away from me because of Blossom..."
He fisted his hands and sniffled.
"Is two weeks too long...I can't afford to be separated...that day she held onto me...and I told her to let go to be with you Ben...to be with someone that will help her and care for her...I meant it...if something happens to me... Please don't let her be alone..."
I just stared at him. I was going to say more until we heard Harmione scream. We ran in the direction of her cries. She was being chased by a Org Beast.
"Harmione!" Charlie shouted.
Harmione tripped as the beast came after her. I transformed into Four Arms. I jumped in front of her and punched the beast. He roared and slid backwards in the sand.
"Daddy?"
"Har...just over there, go to your mother...Gwen, Kevin, and Charlie are here too."
"Charlie?! You brought Charlie here?!"
"Well he more or less stowed away with us but-"
Suddenly the Org Beast hit me in the back of the head. Harmione took off running toward Hope.
"Need help?" Kevin asked and absorbed the rocky terrain. He punched the beast a few times. Gwen grunted and threw a mana ray towards the beast. He fell over into a small craven.
I transformed back and ran over to Hope, Harmione, and Charlie. Harmione was hugging Charlie around the neck.
"Har...are you hurt?" I heard Charlie ask.
"No...no I think I'm alright...Charlie...what about you, and the kids and your surgery...and Blossom please tell me she didn't hurt you or the kids...and Daddy, Daddy! Vilgax is after the girls we have to stop him!"
"Slow down Harmione...It's gonna be okay...Azmuth is working on a way to stop Vilgax and Charlie took care of Blossom."
"Charlie!" She hugged him again. He kissed the side of her head.
"Harmione? What happened to your powers?"
"Oh...uh Psyphon...he injected me with something...but I think whatever he gave me was only temporary...that's why I've made it this long...only my fire and water spells have come back so far...those Org Beasts don't really like it when I make campfires. I thought I could gain enough energy back to create a portal. I almost gave up on that...but...Charlie...babe I'm so happy to see you."
She wrapped her arms around him again.
"I thought I'd never see you again...and Daddy..."
She hugged me.
"I knew you'd come."
"Gwen, Kevin."
I watched as she embraced them as well.
"Harmione...We found a way to stop Vilgax...I'll tell you on the transport home."
Her beautiful hair blew in the breeze of space as she nodded at me.
"When this all over...Charlie would like to tell you something too."
She looked from me to Charlie.
"Char..."
"But not now...let's go."
She glanced at Charlie. He was at a loss for words.
Mom, Dad, Gwen, Kevin, and Charlie went to get our sister back. As they did, Jesse and I were left with the kids.
"You think Dad's gonna get mad at Charlie?" Jesse asked among the silence.
"Nah...he'll probably just ignore him...when it comes to our sister he's pretty blind and deaf...just charges right in no matter who is on his team."
"You're probably right. So how are you and Tabby doin?"
"Good...she says she enjoys eating lunch with me...I gave her my green jacket for keeps last Friday."
"Wow...your favorite green one things are getting serious..." Jesse teased.
"Shut it...what about you and Patrick?"
"Oh...yeah things are great with Pat. He wants to take me to the carnival coming up."
"Uncle Jesse, Uncle Justice!" Bryan suddenly screamed.
A large ship crashed through the main foyer of the glass building we were in. It happened just moments after it ignored the warning signs upon entering Galvan Primes atmosphere. Jesse and I dove on top of the kids as the glass poured down over us. It was then replaced with a plastic like dome, acting as a shield layer. Two creatures stepped off the crashed vessel.
"Where is she?" The ugly tall octopus one said.
"My sensor indicates that Blossom's suit is around here."
"Figures she'd betray us...and how like Ben Tennyson to run to Azmuth for help. Is the security disabled?"
"Yes Master Vilgax."
"Psst Jesse..." I whispered.
"What?" He whispered back.
"I think that's Vilgax." I said quietly.
"Ah man... What are we gonna do?"
"I have an idea...but it's pretty bold...and crazy."
"Let me hear it."
As Vilgax and his creepy slave looked around I jumped up.
"Justice!" I heard Jesse whisper loudly.
"Hey Vilgax!" I heard you were looking for Harmione's kids... she just so happens to be my sister! I can take you to where they are!"
"Very well!"
"Come on Squidface!"
"Justice...what are you doing?"
"Take the kids and run Jess!"
Okay...come on girls!" Bry!"
Jesse and the kids darted in the other direction.
Vilgax glared at me.
"Whatcha waiting for an invitation?"
"Psyphon follow him. I do not have time for his childish games...he reeks of his father."
"That's not fair...do you have any idea what you smell like?"
I took off running as Psyphon began to chase me.
I left my brother alone. Saving our nieces and nephew were our top priority. The girls were only two but tried their best to keep up. Bryan helped tremendously. He helped if they tripped. I reached a door that was locked.
"Uh oh..."
I looked around and saw a vent on the wall.
"That's it..."
I grunted furiously and kicked the vent open.
"Girls you first...hurry up now..."
I heard loud footsteps coming out way. I shut the vent as the kids were tucked safely inside. It was Vilgax.
"You...you look just like your father as well...you must be the other child that fool helped procreate."
"Jesse...yeah..."
"Well Jesse...this is the end for you."
He took out a sword that hung low on his back. I saw Justice running up behind him. He slide under his legs. Psyphon shot a laser at him as he did so. Only the laser hit Vilgax.
"Psyphon you incompetent waste of space!"
Justice ran over to me.
"You okay?"
"Yeah...what's that? Justice are those!"
"Yep...part of the suits me and the guys wore...remember Azmuth was testing them...I think he's got them fixed to where they won't hurt us..."
"And if you're wrong!"
"Bro! That's the toughest guy in the universe...we need something tough to beat him with...just put on the glove and help me!"
I sighed. He put on a black glove. I put on the blue one.
"This feels weird."
"No time for a lesson, here he comes!"
I gasped. Justice used his power to shock the floor.
"Jesse yours is water use it now!"
"Oh!"
As soon as I used mine both Vilgax and Psyphon got the shock of their life.
"Yes!"
We started to high five each other, then remembered the gloves. We took them off and finished our high five.
"The kids!"
I opened the vent.
"Aww guys I'm sorry."
"Uncle Jesse...Uncle Justice!" Anna cried.
"It's okay...Justice. Help me get them to Azmuth. As we took off running Azmuth's security system became active again. It must have been Justice's shockwave. I stopped to catch my breathe.
"That portal to the Null Void thing was in here." I breathed.
We entered the room. Justice melted the door handle from the inside with the fire glove.
"Wow...maybe I should carry the fire and the electricity one and you can have the water and the earth gloves."
"Plants and water? Really? Great Justice...you burst them into flames and I'll make them smell like a woodlen creek."
We heard some loud banging outside.
"Little Tennyson's over here."
It was Azmuth.
"I think I know what your father was trying to do...but we must act quickly."
