Chapter 19

Just before church let out Charlie went to the bathroom. He was gone for a long time. When church was over I decided to check on him. I entered the hallway. My heels clacked on the white marble floor. I knocked on the bathroom door.

"Yeah?"

"Is it just you in there Charlie?"

"Yeah."

I entered the bathroom. Charlie was standing over a urinal.

"Babe, what's going on?"

"My back...and my side below my ribs are killing me."

"Think those are side effects?" I asked.

"I don't know..." He breathed and grunted furiously.

"Babe..maybe this was Bryan's vision? You're straining again."

"Maybe...but I've been taking all my medication...I..I don't understand...I just...ahhh...don't...don't talk to me right now Har, okay?"

He was in pain, but he finally began to urinate. I left him alone and took the kids out to the car. Several other people were still leaving the church. As I got all the kids in their car seats buckled up, I got in myself.

"Bryan?"

"Yes mommy?"

"That vision of about your Daddy, was he in the church in your vision?"

Bryan shook his head.

"He was at our house."

"Where?"

"In our bathroom."

"In our bathroom...okay...Bry what else was happening?"

"He looked hurt."

"What do you mean?"

"He had his hand on the wall. I didn't see his face he had it hid in his arm. He was trembling all over and hurt real bad."

"Did you see blood or anything like that?"

"Nun-uh."

"Was I there?"

"No."

"Hmmm..." The driver side door opened startling me. Charlie got in.

"Alright...where are we going for lunch?"

"I want chicken nuggets!" Anna exclaimed.

"No pizza!" Mira yelled over her.

"I want to go home and change dresses Daddy." Isa spoke up.

"How about pizza, they have a buffet and you can get what you want?" Charlie asked.

"Yeah!" Anna and Mira said at the same time.

"I want pizza too!" Bryan told us.

"I wanna go change!" Isa said again.

"Isabelle you're fine." Charlie scolded. He pulled out of the parking lot and looked both ways. I watched him as he drove. He didn't tremble. I knew his sugar was well regulated. I then looked back at Bryan. Bryan shrugged. I looked back at Charlie as we approached a red light. We stopped and Charlie grunted holding his side. He then took off his tie and threw it behind him.

"Babe..."

I stroked his hair.

"I'm fine."

At the pizza place, it brought back so many memories as I used to work there.

"Mommy can I have a chocolate chip slice of pizza?" Mira asked.

"Eat you something else first Mira."

"Mommy...I wanna go home and get a new dress." Isa whined.

"Isabelle you say that one more time and you're gonna get it when you do get home, do you understand me?"

"Yes mam."

She was quiet there after. Charlie got a salad and a slice of pizza. Pizza was high in carbs for him and Bryan but they don't eat it often so it was fine. I made the kids a few plates of cheese and pepperoni pizza from the buffet. Got them each a piece of chocolate chip and two breadsticks. The girls sat and colored on the children handouts the restaurant gives small kids. Bryan put his away and was happily eating. I got myself a salad too, and a slice of cheese pizza. As we sat eating our lunch I noticed Charlie had his head in his hands. His knees were bobbing and he was humming to himself. I know for a fact he only does that when he's in really bad pain.

If something's going to happen to Charlie I want to be there, but Bryan said I wasn't in the vision. Besides that, whatever is supposed to happen doesn't happen at the pizza place. I rubbed his shoulders regardless.

"Charlie..."

"It starts and stops and it...it hurts so bad...I've never felt this before."

"Maybe we should take you to the doctor?"

"No...no Dr. Payton said there would be side effects...I have to deal with it."

That night after Harmione gave the kids their bath and put them down for bed, Harmione got in bed herself. I had counted, and I had been in pain for over 18 hours. It grew worse over time. By nightfall I thought I was gonna have to go to the ER I hurt so bad. Harmione must have been worried about me. It's never my intent to worry her, but instead of going to sleep she stayed up in bed; reading. I went to the bathroom and paced the bathroom floor. It had to be the kidney or my bladder. I held the sink and just stood there fighting back the pain.

"Ah...mmm..." I tapped my foot and tried to hum my pain away. I felt a strong urge to urinate. I unbuttoned and unzipped my jeans. The pain in my side grew. I placed my hand on the wall and groaned. Something was blocking the flow. I then hid my face in my arm. I tried to push it out, but that only hurt more. I screamed and put my hands on my knees.

"Char?!" Harmione's voice called.

I was in too much pain to answer her back. I held myself. I could feel my body begging for relief. There was a burning sensation at the tip of my manhood, and my side tightened even harder.

I thought the pain was going to cripple me. Harmione ran in.

"Charlie!"

I groaned loudly.

"Har...you have to get me to the ER...please!"

She called Jesse to come over and watch the kids while we went to the emergency room. On the drive there I thought something was going to burst inside of me.

Charlie...babe...hang in there." Harmione told me as she drove. I didn't think I could.

"Oh...mmm...Ah! Oh my God!"

I didn't even bother buttoning my pants. There was a strong burning sensation and intense pain.

"Charlie..."

"Ah..." I whimpered. The pain was so bad I actually started to cry.

Harmione rubbed my knee as she drove. Once we got to the ER. We discovered that I had a five millimeter kidney stone lodged and stuck in my ureter. They did give me some pain medicine, but it was still extremely painful. I spent four hours on and off pushing before I finally got it out of me. I think if Bryan hadn't of had that vision; Harmione wouldn't have stayed up. I would still be in my bathroom at home dying.
