Chapter 24
"Ahhh!" Bryan screamed loudly.
At that moment our car began to skid. I was in the back and I wasn't wearing a seatbelt. We hit a rough patch of ice. The car began to turn over. I tried to throw myself on the kids. The side of the car hit the icy road and every window shattered. There was a loud screech as the metal scraped the concrete and tipped over upside down. Charlie hit his head on the side of car. He was out cold and bleeding badly. The car threw me to the roof and then to the side. I flew through the broken windows. And every part of my body was cut by the glass. I hit the cold hard street and knocked myself out.
When I saw Mommy go through the window my sister's and I were left hanging upside down in our car seats. I thought I could use my telekinesis to tip the car back over. I tried as hard as I could but I wasn't used to the power yet. I then smelled smoke. My sister's started crying. My head and body started to hurt. I couldn't get my power to work like I wanted. The car was going to explode! I screamed. There was a blinding flash. The accident hadn't occurred yet. We were currently fine sitting in the car. Mommy was still stroking my arms.
"Bryan, calm down baby! It's alright! Charlie how far away from the house are we?!"
"10 minutes maybe 15 in this weather."
"Drive a little faster babe...just be careful about it."
"Nooo!" I screamed. "Don't drive faster, don't drive faster!"
"It's okay sweetie! Daddy will get us home safe I promise!"
At that moment our car began to skid.
"Stop the car! Please stop!" I cried. I didnt know if I was still stuck in the vision or if they could really hear me.
My daddy hit the breaks. The car came to a halt. Daddy then put the car's flashers on. He got out and opened the side door to get to us.
"Bryan! Son!"
I couldn't stop sweating and I couldn't stop crying. The vision was too real. That patch of ice was so close. It was a close call. My heart was racing I thought it would pop out of my chest. I just sat there breathing heavily. I could see my Dad in the distance on the phone with someone.
"Yeah Dad...we could really use some help. Where? About 20 minutes away from Ben and Hope's place yeah?"
"Hey..."
I looked at my mother.
"It's alright now...that vision...whatever it was is not going to happen son. Now we're gonna take care of your sugar...okay Mommy and Daddy are gonna take care of you Bryan...I promise."
All this time she still had my hand. She never let go. With her other hand she bushed my bangs back. I couldn't stop sweating. I felt myself growing weaker. I wanted to shut my eyes. Though I was afraid another vision would pop up if I did close them.
"Charlie..."
"Yeah?"
"I'm transporting them home one at a time...see if your Dad can't get a tow truck to get our car home...and I'll come back for you."
I saw purple. The flash was so bright I though an explosion happened. Mom transported me to our living room. She put me on the couch. I was starting to feel a little better when I saw our Christmas tree, but my hands continued to shake. I needed something on my stomach and my medicine.
"Please hold on Bryan."
As I lay there the lights of the tree blurred. It made the room spin. I thought I was walking on the wall. My head pounded non stop.
"Here we go! Here we are Bry!"
She fetched my medicine, but also brought a jar of honey and a spoon.
"Momma...what about Daddy and sisters?" I asked weakly.
"They'll be okay...I'll bring them all home in a minute...but I have to help you first. Open your mouth."
I did and she coated my mouth with the honey. I sucked in quite a bit of it. She left me once more and returned with a glass of juice.
"Here sweetheart...now you just drink your juice..."
As I sat there she pulled off my coat and raised my shirt up. She then shook a syringe. It was cold at the touch. It was a stronger dose of my medication Mommy and Daddy always kept it in the fridge for emergencies like this one.
I felt Mommy pinch the skin on my stomach. I took the syringe and started to inject myself. My hand was shaking. Mom helped me hold on to the shot.
"Mommy...Mommy is this the one that stings!"
"Yes..."
I gathered up my courage and injected myself. It was my first time doing that. I grunted and grimaced my face. It began to burn at the injection site.
"One two three, count Bry,"
"Four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten." I breathed as I pushed the needle in. I handed her back the syringe. It burned so bad I wanted to cry. I began to breathe rapidly again.
"Take it easy son..."
"It burns!"
"I know baby...but this is the strong dose when you have spells like this...and they don't happen often do they?"
I shook my head and whimpered.
"No..." Mom said softly and ran her nails through my hair. This dose was fast acting, but it did sting a lot and you weren't allowed to rub it after it was injected. Mom pulled my shirt down and grabbed both of my hands. My parents told me that any injection pain I was feeling would be nothing compared to that if I had a seizure and went into shock. I tried to keep that in mind, but that was easier said then done.
"Bryan...listen at me...It'll pass baby...the burning will stop."
I looked up at her and tears ran down my cheeks. I couldn't stop them.
"I'll going to go get your sisters and your Daddy now...okay...everything's gonna be okay."
"Okay...ow...mmm ow..."
She kissed my cheek and teleported. I sat there blowing air trying to distract myself. She brought Mira back first. Then Isa. Then Anna. Then finally my Daddy. Dad took off his snow dust covered coat and got on his knees near the couch.
"That vision you had really saved us Bry...you did it again." He smiled.
"The car?" Mom asked.
"Dad's having a guy bring it back tonight. It'll be back in the driveway soon...I think the city is gonna salt the roads tomorrow morning. It's supposed to snow again tonight."
Daddy looked back at me. He stroked my head.
"Daddy..." I cried.
"What Bry?"
"I'm sorry I didn't eat all my food at the party, but Harvey was gonna let me play his game and the car I'm sorry you left it in the snow because of me and- Ow! Ah!"
Mira began rubbing my belly in an attempt to make me feel better. Unknown to her I just had my medicine.
"Stop Mira honey, he's sore." Dad told her and grabbed her hand.
I've never been on fire before but if I had to describe it, that shot after a few minutes probably felt like it, if I had to guess. It was so painful my toes curled and my back arched. It was as if something in that exact spot had ripped my skin off and covered it in chilli powder on the inflammation underneath. Like a popped blister with the roof torn filled with salt. Of course there was nothing on my body and my skin was fine. It was just the sensation. It normally lasted anywhere from three to five minutes after the insulin had been injected.
Dad held me and gently cupped his hand over the injection site. He had been out in the snow and his hands were like ice.
"Ssh...is that better Bry?"
I whimpered.
"Huh?"
I sniffled and nodded. Tears came back to my eyes.
"I'm sorry Daddy..."
"Ssh...don't worry about that now...just relax."
"I really am sorry..."
"Bry...stop that...listen to what your Daddy is telling you...relax."
I nodded.
"This one hit you fast but this one wasn't that bad...it wasn't bad at all little man."
I nodded slowly. I did save them, but they saved me.
Bryan learned how to give himself his medicine that night and once again saved our family. I'm not so sure how he does it, but he does it and I got the kids into bed, I had just finished checking Bryan's sugar for a third time while Charlie placed the last of the presents under our tree.
I entered the living room.
"Normal?" He whispered.
"Normal." I whispered back. He nodded and turned out the lights on the tree. Our house was dark and quiet. He opened our front door to look out.
"Hey Har...come here."
I followed him over to our front door.
"What is it?"
Our car had been brought back an hour before and it was almost covered in snow. It was just lightly falling and glittering in the moonlight. I gasped as I saw the snow.
"Boy...this has been one crazy Christmas Eve...and anniversary huh?"
"Yeah...but you know Charlie...I wouldn't have it any other way."
He smiled and put his arms around me. I felt him put his chin on my shoulder.
"Look at that coming down out there." He whispered.
"I know...its beautiful."
"Yes it is."
I looked at him. He was staring at me and not the snow. I smiled shyly. We began french kissing each other. I felt him stroking me. I groaned into our kisses.
"Char...stop...what if we wake the kids...or they get up to check for Santa and find us huh?"
"Yeah...you're right sorry."
We watched the snow and it grew quiet again. I did want Charlie. I thought maybe... I reached behind me and began stroking him through his jeans. He gasped.
"Whoa hey!-"
He grabbed my hand.
"You just said we can't do this."
"I know but you tend to be quieter than me...and I really want too Char."
"Yeah I know me too."
We sighed. Charlie then snapped his fingers.
"Hey I have an idea." He said then whispered a devlish plan into my ear.
"Charlie...no...we couldn't...could we?"
"Only if you want too."
"Mmm...yeah okay..."
We got our coats and went outside. The snow fell lightly on my eyelashes. Charlie went out before me and warmed up his truck. I got in and smiled at him.
"Ready?" He asked.
"Mm-hm."
He smiled and leaned over toward me. We began to make out. I turned on the radio and smiled at him.
"What?" He blushed.
"This is crazy...you're crazy."
"I'd have to be to have married you seven years ago wouldn't I?" He began to kiss me again. As we kissed I felt him rubbing his hand on the front of my jeans.
"Mmm...I love you so much Charlie..."
"I love you too Harmione."
We embraced each other the best we could in his truck. We made-out and I stroked the front of his jeans as he continued to stroke me.
"Char..." I breathed. He stopped.
"You okay?"
"Yeah...its just really warm in here."
"Yeah..."
He pulled off his coat and then his hoodie. I took of my coat, then my sweater exposing my bra. I managed to slip my jeans off as well.
"Charlie..."
I sat in his lap and made out with him. Charlie removed his shirt as he kissed me.
"Ahh!" He gasped.
"What?!"
"My insulin pump!"
"Oh sorry! Sorry..."
I leaned toward his left side and he kissed my neck. We began to strip down even more and fondled each other. As I sat on top of him, I then proceeded to make love to him. He held me, but bucked his hips underneath me. He held my back at first so I wouldn't hit the steering wheel. Then he held my hips.
"Charlie!"
I put my hands on the window behind his head. My fingers began to leave prints. The car seemed to be full of steam and we were both sweating even though it was 19 below outside. Charlie grunted. I groaned loudly and my entire body trembled.
"Ahh Charlie!"
"Har...its happening..." He breathed.
"Yeah?" I breathed back with a smile.
"Yeah..."
"Go ahead Char..."
He pulled out and I lifted myself off him. He grunted furiously.
"Ah...damn." He replied breathlessly.
Charlie and I have been extra careful in our sex life. We have four kids already and we want to make sure the four we have lead healthy normal lives before we even think about more children. We hardly have these times to ourselves these days, but it was our anniversary.
I collapsed on top of him. I kissed his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around me and held the back of my head. We both tried to catch our breathe.
"Har..."
"Yeah babe."
"Was...was that as good for you as it was for me?"
"Oh yes hon...thank you."
He kissed the side of my head. A little later, we got dressed again only we left our coats off. I sat back in Charlie's lap and we just watched it snow. The radio was playing "O Holy Night." I smiled and pecked his lips.
"Happy Anniversary Charlie..."
"Happy Anniversary Harmione."
"Oh and Merry Christmas Char."
He didn't answer.
"Char?" I arose from his chest and looked at him.
He began to fall asleep. He always did that after a passionate moment like that between us. As he did I pulled his coat up over us and listened to the radio. The snow was still falling. It looked so cold but I was perfectly warm.
Seven years and I was given a wonderful husband who gave me four wonderful kids. These four beautiful kids. If I really thought about it, their happiness has been my Christmas gift every year. Despite the scare we had tonight, I ask for that every year, and each year I get it.
