Prologue:

Heloise

For years, it has been speculated by many that Bellatrix Lestrange née Black might be barren, seeing as the Lestrange family has yet to welcome a child after a near decade of her marriage with Lord Rodolphus Lestrange. The truth was, they just weren't interested in having a child in the height of war.

Bellatrix and Rodolphus Lestrange were two of the highest ranking members of the dark order. Both being members of Voldemort's inner circle, both Lestranges were incredibly involved with the war, leading raids, spreading chaos, and striking fear into the hearts of their opponents.

Not really the sanest witch in the block, Bellatrix enjoyed and reveled in the terror that her mere presence can inspire to the masses. As Voldemort's trusted lieutenant, and one of the few people he personally taught the dark arts to, she was known as one of his best and most terrifying death eaters. Especially as she was also magically talented, predominantly in the realm of the dark arts and was probably the dark lord's most loyal follower.

Born a member of the Black family, Bellatrix was not only beautiful and powerful, bold and proud, with a sharp wit and a short temper, she was also slightly mad, just like the norms of her birth family, the Blacks. But she seems to inherit the Black insanity, a trait that many members of the Black family have, in spades, making her even more dangerous than the already normally feared dark reputation of the family.

Rodolphus, on the other hand, was the eldest of the two children of one of Voldemort's earliest supporters and one of the members of the original death eaters known as the Knights of Walpurgis, Corvus Lestrange V. Hailing from a family infamous for being dark, both politically and magically, the Lestranges were an intimidating bunch, often avoided by ordinary wizards and witches, especially those light inclined.

Both slightly sadistic and raised to hate all muggles and muggleborns, just like the rest of the dark pureblood families, Rodolphus and his brother, Rabastan, joined the death eaters as soon as they turned 16, and easily proved their worth to the dark lord. As scions of a loyal ancient and noble family, both were immediately accepted into the ranks of Voldemort's death eaters, where they both thrived and quickly rose through the ranks. Marking their places as one of the dark lord's most trusted and dangerous inner circle members.

Brought together through an arranged marriage contract forged to bind the houses of Black and Lestrange ever since they were still children. With Rodolphus being the eldest child and heir to the Lestrange family, and Bellatrix being the eldest of the three daughters of Cygnus Black and Druella Black née Rosier, and eldest daughter of the noble and most ancient house of Black, the two have known each other since they were young, especially as their families both move around in the same social circles.

Though not in love with each other, as what was usual in arranged marriages, they didn't really have any qualms with marrying each other, since they were both friends, which is already a big step up from other arranged marriages where the bride and groom could barely stand the sight of each other. Their union was widely celebrated by their families and many members of the dark faction, as their union forged a strong alliance between two powerful dark ancient and noble families.

By the time 1979 rolled around, the dark side of the war was high after experiencing victory after victory. It seems that the war was finally nearing its end, with their side as the winners. The Lestrange couple finally felt it was time to try to produce an heir to the family, in celebration of their side's eventual victory.

So in mid December 1979, the heiress to the Ancient and Noble House of Lestrange, Heloise Adhara Lestrange was born as the daughter of Lord Rodolphus Corvinus Lestrange and Lady Bellatrix Lestrange née Black. The goddaughter of a fellow death eater, Heir Bartemius Crouch Jr., the son of the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the time, and a close friend of the Lestranges; and Lady Narcissa Malfoy née Black, the Malfoy matriarch and Bellatrix' youngest, closest sister.

But, the end of the war that the Lestranges were expecting didn't quite end like they had envisioned. Their lord, the dark lord Voldemort disappeared the night of Samhain, after a planned attack on the Potter family.

After hearing news of his sudden disappearance, and the death of the Potter couple, as well as the survival of their only child, Harry James Potter, Voldemort's most loyal followers, the Lestranges, Bellatrix, Rodolphus, and Rabastan, along with their close friend, Bartemius Crouch Jr., in a frenzy and desperate for news, rushed into the home of another couple that the dark lord was planning to attack, the Longbottoms. Where they were caught red handed in torturing the aurors and heads of the Longbottom family, Lady Alice and Lord Frank Longbottom to insanity with the use of the Cruciatus curse, in hopes of getting information about their missing lord, while their one year old son, Heir Neville Longbottom was precariously hidden inside the dresser within the very same room.

Frank and Alice would later be sent to the long-term Janus Thickey ward of St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries where they would never recover until their later deaths in 1996.

For their transgressions, the Lestranges and Crouch Jr. were given life sentences to Azkaban prison. While in JK Rowling's world, the Lestrange couple, Rodolphus and Bellatrix, were completely childless despite of being married for years by then, too busy with their missions as death eaters and crusade against muggles and muggleborns, in this world as was mentioned, they do have a one year old child, a daughter. Their incarceration left the only child and heir of the family, Heloise Lestrange without any parents, uncle, and godfather, to take care of her. Her guardianship was instead transferred to her aunt and godmother, Narcissa Malfoy, who raised her alongside her own children.

As a ward of the Malfoy family, Heloise or Hella as she is known to her family was raised alongside her Malfoy cousins, being the same age as her cousin, Draco. Though she gets along better with her younger cousin, Dakota.

Growing up, Heloise is largely unbothered and uninterested in a lot of things. Often spending her days around Malfoy Manor laying about in boredom. One thing interests her like no other though. The various books on defensive magic, hexes, jinxes, and curses, found on the shelves of the vast and expansive Malfoy library. While the darker books were banned to her due to her young age, Heloise is oftentimes sneaky enough to not get caught smuggling away some of the low security dark tomes. The high security dark books, however were covered by layers and layers of old wards as they should be due to their dangerous nature, which is impossible to get through unless with the express permission of the head of the Malfoy family, Lucius, who with his wife agreed that Heloise is far too young to be reading them, but promised that she would be able to read them to her heart's content when she is just a bit older.

Raised with the knowledge of her parents' and godfather's allegiance with the dark, Heloise has been secretly dreaming of one day being able to become the most powerful dark witch of her age, able to rival her parents in power and talent in wielding the dark arts.
