Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Remutated

Chapter 3: Training

About two days later, April and Zach had come back to the lair for their first training session in the art of martial arts.

"Alright, lesson numero uno; I am so amped for this", Zach grinned, doing a few punches at the air, "let's get the show on the road!"

Splinter stood before them, his back to his new pupils as he looked over various ninja weapons. Trying to find which ones suited them.

Donnie was nearby, working on a small robot head of some kind.

April and Zach watched as Splinter looked over the multitude of weapons on the wall.

Splinter muttered to himself, "let's see…. Maybe, no…. Perhaps…. Definitely not…. Hmm…. Ah, I've got it."

Splinter picked up two different weapons.

One was some sort of fan, and the other were like claws.

Zach and April held confused looks as they beheld their new weapons.

"For April…. The tanto", Splinter spoke. "And for Zach…. The tekko-kagi."

"Whoa….", Zach exclaimed as his eyes widened, "check it out! Snikt! Snikt", he grinned as he put on the claws.

April asked, "a fan? Seriously? Zach gets claws, and I get a tool to keep cool?"

Zach muttered, "April..."

Splinter then said, "no, it is quite alright. The tanto, while it looks like an ordinary fan, in the right hands, it can be far more efficient than a common kitchen knife or switchblade."

April picked up the tanto and said, "I apologize for my words Master Splinter."

"Appearances are often deceiving; that is the mantra of the kunoichi, the female ninja", explained Splinter, "and of course, deception is the ninja's greatest tool."

April tested the word, "kunoichi."

Zach asked, "so, how exactly do I use these…. Tekko-kagi's?"

Splinter nodded, "that, you will soon learn."

"Okay; I'm ready, Sensei", Zach replied, "both of us are."

Splinter nodded and said, "excellent. You shall need sparring partners for your training. Before you can master your weapons, you must master your skills in hand to hand combat."

Leo asked, "so, who's volunteering? Anybody feel like throwing down with the new recruits?"

Raph smiled and said, "gladly. I'm always itching for a fight."

Leo replied, "Raph, you might wanna go easy on them. They're new to ninjitsu."

"Sure, sure", Raph smirked, "but if they can't handle me going easy, then they might not be ready, period."

Splinter looked to Raph and said, "Raphael, be kind to them. They are your fellow students."

Raph shrugged and said, "alright, alright."

Raph took a fighting stance, and so did Zach…. At least, he attempted to, going by what he'd seen in old martial arts movies and fighting video games.

"... Hajime", said Splinter.

Zach ran at Raph, who grabbed his fist and launched him onto the ground. Raph laughed and said, "issat all ya got?"

"Hardly….", Zach grunted as he got back to his feet, "I still have some fight left!"

Raph laughed and said, "then bring it on!"

Zach quickly adjusted his stance, trying to find an opening for an attack.

Suddenly, it appeared to him, and he struck Raph in the side to distract him, before sweeping his legs out from underneath.

Raph was shocked to the core as he landed upon the ground, looking up at Zach.

"Yeah", Zach exclaimed, feeling pretty confident as he did a few jabs and blocks, "c'mon, c'mon!"

Raph grew frustrated as he rose to his feet and started trying to hit Zach!

The boy suddenly dodged, as though he could somehow see where Raph was hitting before he could swing at him!

Raph grew more and more frustrated as he tried to hit his opponent.

"Yee-haw", Zach whooped, ducking another punch, "I got the speed!"

Raph growled as he tried to tackle Zach, who jumped away as fast as he could.

"Hahaha! Good try, man; now here's MY turn", Zach replied before he leapt at Raph, his claws ready.

Splinter yelled, "stop!"

Zach stopped with his claws inches from Raphael.

Splinter said, "I said no weapons for the first time! A battle to fists, before moving onto such dangerous weapons!"

Zach wobbled a few times, before he fell right on his face, "agh!"

Raph stood up and helped Zach up, albeit roughly. Splinter took a step forward and said, "why did you not listen? I said, 'no weapons!'"

"I got caught up in the moment, and got carried away; that's on me", Zach replied, embarrassed, "sorry, guys; my bad."

Splinter replied, "it is alright. My son's were also quite pig-headed at the beginning of their training. Some of them still are, heh heh."

Raph looked away, whistling.

"I think April can get the next fight", Zach replied.

Splinter nodded as April walked up, leaving her tanto on the table.

Splinter looked over the boys, trying to decide which one would fight April.

Zach noticed Donnie blushing up a storm. He'd have to bring that up later.

Zach suggested, "hmm…. Maybe Mike or Leo? Are you guys feeling fighty?"

Mikey chuckled and said, "is pizza delicious?"

The others chuckled as Mikey ran up.

"... Hajime", Splinter announced, and the fight began!

April tried to strike first, but Mikey was able to simply side step the strike.

April attacked again, but Mikey kept on side-stepping and dodging with very little effort.

April started to grow frustrated, but then took a breath and tried to think of an opening to knock down the youngest turtle.

"Can't hit whatcha can't see", Mikey exclaimed, "then I guess I'll hit YOU!"

April then found herself dodging the punches as fast as she could. As she tried to concentrate, everything seemed to slow down around her!

Suddenly, she shot her arms out, grabbed Mikey by the wrist, and flung him over her shoulder like a sweaty towel!

Everyone double-took at what just happened, especially Mikey!

Zach thought, 'how in the heck did she manage to move so fast?'

Donnie asked, utterly bewildered, "how did you even DO that?"

"I…. I don't know", replied April, "it was like I could see his next move…. Seconds before he even made it…."

Splinter replied, "quite curious. April, you may have some sort of strong cognitive abilities yet unlocked."

Donnie then said, "very interesting. Perhaps I could help you figure out what this is?"

"That would be really helpful Donatello."

Donnie replied, "oh, you, uh, you can just call me Donnie."

April said, "okay then, Donnie."

Donnie blushed at hearing his nickname come out of April's mouth.

"Well…. I'll do what I can", he replied.

Splinter then said, "well done my new students. With this level of training, you will both become great warriors. April, I see you have great potential to become a kunoichi. And Zach, you may show great skill as a samurai, rather than a ninja."

"A samurai", Zach asked, "cool..."

Splinter nodded as he said, "for now, take a moment to rest from your training session."

Both Zach and April flopped over, mildly exhausted, while the turtles vacated the training hall to spend their free time as they saw fit.

Raph flopped onto the couch and started reading a magazine.

Leo began watching a cheesy sci-fi cartoon.

Mikey started working in the kitchen, looking over his different recipes for pizza.

April made her way over to Donnie's lab as Zach started looking over some photos that Splinter had on the wall.

As he looked over the photos, he spotted one of a man, a woman…. And a baby.

"... Curiouser and curious-er...", Zach quoted.

April peeked into Donnie's room/lab. There were all sorts of machines made out of spare parts. A game console made out of a toaster, a computer that looked like it was made of several different kinds, and a roomba made from an old CD-player. Donnie had his back to April as he worked on something.

"A little more of this…. A bit of that….", he muttered.

April asked, "hey Donnie-?"

Donnie yelled as he nearly dropped what he was working on.

Donnie replied, "o-oh, hey April. Uh, what're y-you doing in h-here?"

"Eh, I'm just hanging around", April shrugged, "what's up with you?"

Donnie stuttered, "well, uh, I've been working on a, uh, robot. Something to help me scout out the city, and uh, all that."

April replied, "woah! Cool! Does it have a name?"

Donnie then said, "well, uh, the name is a long complicated anagram, but I uh, made it much smaller so Mikey doesn't butcher the name. L.A.I.R.D-03, since he's the uh, third model I've tried to design."

Donnie showed the small robot. It looked like a black brick with spider-like robotic legs on the edges, and a small blue light on the front, like an eye of some sort.

"Huh…. Never seen a robot before", April commented, "looks pretty cool!"

Donnie replied, "uh, t-thanks. It's still a work in progress. I, uh, I'm trying to work in a voice module. So he can, y'know, talk."

"I get it", April replied, "still, it sounds pretty cool so far. Can't wait to see how the end result turns out!"

Donnie replied, "uh, thanks, April."

April smiled as she left. Donnie was still blushing a storm as she did so.

"Wow…. She actually talked to me", he whispered to himself as he continued working on the tiny robot.

April walked into the living room to see what the others were up to.

Leo was watching a TV show called 'Space Heroes', Mikey was reading comics with Zach, and Raph was playing on one of the arcade cabinets.

April then found her gaze wandering to the picture Zach had looked upon earlier. She looked around for a moment before moving towards it.

'This must've been what Master Splinter looked like when he was human….', she thought to herself as she approached the photo.

As she looked at it, Splinter approached her.

April looked at Splinter and asked, "was this your family?"

"Indeed", Splinter nodded, "my wife Tang Shen…. And little Miwa."

April replied, "I wish I could've gotten to meet them."

Splinter smiled and said, "as do I. Miwa would have been about your age now."

April nodded silently.

Splinter walked over to another wall, where he looked at a picture from a few years ago. It showed the turtles when they were ten, all of them first receiving their masks, standing in a group picture.

Splinter couldn't help but smile at it. After many ups and downs in his life, he still had something in his life. His sons.

And so, later on, April and Zach proceeded home, with the Turtles escorting them back to the surface, and keeping an eye on them until they got home...

….

Meanwhile, we see some sort of underground lair of sorts.

There were a bunch of adolescents here. Some were playing arcade games, some were playing pool, and some were simply watching TV.

On the walls were flags with the insignia of the Foot Clan on them.

It was a large red footprint, emblazoned on every flag.

A bunch of the teens were eating fast food, a few were smoking cigarettes, and above all, they were doing things that their parents wouldn't allow them to do on a regular basis.

There was a rather large balcony overlooking all of this.

And we could see a few men standing atop it.

A large, bearded man stood on the platform, glancing down from above. Next to him was a lanky dark-skinned man in a leather vest and blue jeans.

Their names? Xever and Bradford.

Bradford, the bearded man, "these kids will make great pawns for the Foot Clan."

Xever, the man in leather, "let's just hope they live up to the bosses expectations."

That's when they heard someone approach from behind.

The two men suddenly turned to see who was approaching.

The man was very tall, dressed in clothes as red as blood, with a dark violet cape upon his back. Gauntlets and shoulder armor that was shining with spikes on them. And a terrifying helmet, that only showed two eyes on a very scarred face staring at them.

This was the man known as; the Shredder.

Bradford and Xever quickly knelt before their leader.

"... Master Shredder", they both said.

The Shredder looked upon both of them and asked, "how goes the training of our new recruits?"

"They are making great progress, Master Shredder", Bradford replied, "it is only a matter of time before they're ready for missions."

Shredder replied, "they must be ready as soon as possible. If what our forces say are true, that two teenagers are being protected from us because of what they know, they must be dealt with. Permanently…."

"Of course, sir", Xever nodded, "anyone who's stupid enough to interfere with your plans will know just why it was a mistake!"

The two men could tell their boss was smiling evilly under his mask as he said, "good. Soon, the Foot Clan will have utter control over the city of New York. And no one will be able to stop us."

Little did Shredder know, a young girl around the same age as our heroes was listening in. She had black hair and ninja garb with red lipstick and make up over the eyes. The bottom of her hair was a blonde color, and she wore a red bandana over her forehead. When she heard these words, she dashed off thinking, 'I need to find Shinigami. She may be the only person I can trust if he completes his plans...'

Reviews:

Shakespeare1994: I'm glad you like this story and how I mixed the various things together.

mmat: a list of mutants who will he appearing in the story.

Bebop, Rocksteady, Razor, Tocka, Fish Face, Snake Weed, Spider Bites, Mona Lisa, Rat King, Baxter Stockman, Slash, Karai gets her snake abilities, LeatherHead and NewtTralizer are the mains ones we'll have added.

jurassicdinodrew: good ideas, and thanks for the compliments.

Jinero: I'm glad I've caught your interest. As for how I'm mixing the 80's Shredder in there, it's mainly the insults. The 80's Shredder was great at insulting his minions, and so that's what I'm gonna try to fit in.

….

As April and Zach begin training, we get our first look at the Foot Clan's hideout and their leader; the Shredder. As well as Xever and Bradford.

And a little glimpse at Karai, and a mention of Shinigami.

I'm glad people have been enjoying our interpretation of TMNT.

Until next time, have a great day/night and stay safe.
