The half-low sound of a drum filled the Amazon ship, with Hippolyta watching the sea around her, along with the other warriors who accompanied her through it all. With the Queen of the Amazons at the stern of the ship, Diana remained kneeling with her eyes closed, awaiting whatever punishment lay ahead. Wondering what she would have to endure, what perhaps a certain fear. Her dedication was immense. But still, it seemed that little by little, it was fading in the face of the latest events that had occurred. Unseen by the Amazons, a rowboat, where Johnny, Zee, Barbara, Jessica, Karen and Kara were, began to approach from behind, without drawing much attention.
(Johnny) - This is going to work out. I can feel it.
(Barbara) - Ditto. - Both continued rowing, while the group watched the Amazons' ship, being surprised to see what the situation was like at that moment.
(Karen) - What will we do?
(Barbara) - Quick game. We go in without anyone seeing us, rescue Diana and with that, get back to the city before they end up chasing us. - Barbara spoke, but only increased the nervousness of the girls in front of her.
(Zee) - Chasing us?
(Barbara) - If they want Diana back, let's make it clear that we will not give up without a fight. - Reaching the side of the ship, Barbara began to leave some indecipherable symbols, while the group climbed slowly to avoid drawing too much attention to them. With their costumes still on, they looked at their surroundings. - Who would go first?
(Johnny) - Maybe I should go.
(Zee) - It didn't work out so well last time, remember? - She looked at her surroundings, while at the same time, she was a little nervous inside.
(Kara) - I guess I could go. Super strength, invulnerability, after all, I think I have the upper hand around here.
(Johnny) - I thought the plan was not to draw too much attention to our side. - He spoke in a low voice, while at the same time, looking at the Amazons, seeing the situation. Barbara then, started to go slowly, hiding, while trying to get to Diana. The group started to go quietly, tiptoeing, until suddenly, several Amazons appeared, with one of them pinning Bumblebee with her feet, which caught everyone except Barbara by the ear. - Chipped.
(Jessica) - I guess it didn't work out so well.
Batgirl continued to move silently towards Diana as she approached her, close to her ear, whispering, but she just kept her eyes closed, fearful.
(Diana) - Why are you here, Barbara Gordon? - Her eyes were still closed. Not expressing any reaction.
(Barbara) - We've come to get you out of here! See - She looked at the rest of the team, who had already been picked up by the Amazons, making Batgirl more nervous than she could possibly be. - Ooh, this wasn't supposed to happen! - Suddenly, Queen Hippolyta grabbed her by the hood of her ear, demonstrating her strength now to the heroine.
(Hippolyta) - How dare they enter my ship without my permission? Throw them to the beast of the ocean, Cetus! - Pulling each of the group, the pain in his ear seemed distinctly visible.
(Kara) - Wait. - Kara remembered that she had powers, so she punched one of the Amazons, throwing her into the sea, that way, the other heroes of the group ended up freeing themselves, being more than willing to show Diana that they were fighting.
(Johnny) - Now this is going to get interesting. - He uses his energy manipulation powers to create a barrier around him, while at the same time, the other Amazons started chasing the girls. Suddenly, a sword went through the barrier, breaking it, while Johnny continued to defend himself.
(Jessica) - Diana, we're not letting you go without a fight! - Green Lantern was wearing an emerald knight costume, being chased by an Amazon, while Zee was in a fight, almost being grabbed by the hair.
(Zee) - We're sorry you gave up, Diana! - Johnny continued to use his magic, while slowly giving his all to contain the warriors on top of him.
(Karen) - You have to come back and be our leader again! - Bumblebee was trying to dodge a net that was all around her, while the Amazons followed her, even though she was shrinking.
(Barbara) - That's right, look how bad we are! - The heroine found herself on top of an Amazon, fighting her, while Supergirl began to be overwhelmed by the warriors that were piling on top of her. Little by little, the group was trying to hold their own.
(Johnny) - Diana, you said I had a gift to use! - He gives a blow that throws some of the warriors backwards, while creating another barrier to try to contain the attacks, placing one of his hands on the ground, creating a shock wave that pushes the Amazons that were trying to attack him backwards. - You believed that I could master my fears and use my powers in the name of the greater good! I believe! - The barrier he creates is destroyed again, while Queen Hippolyta watches everything, seeing a certain fear in the other heroes. - I believe everything you have said! I know I will still be afraid, but at least I am not hesitating! Not now! - He takes a blow to the face that knocks him to his knees, while at the same time, he uses one of his hands to conjure up enough energy to defend himself, demonstrating the control he had in his body.
(Kara) - You once said I could be the greatest heroine the World of Men has ever seen! But it wasn't me, it was you! - That was enough for Diana to open her eyes, seeing how the group she had assembled was willing to give up everything to bring her back to the city. Rising to her feet, she looked up at the clash, a certain determination in their bodies.
(Diana) - Amazons! Your princess commands you to stop!
(Hippolyta) - And your queen commands them to continue!
Each took up the standoff again, while at the same time Diana and Hippolyta watched everything, half worried.
(Diana) - Stop!
(Hippolyta) - Go on!
Neither side knew whether to continue or stop, leaving both confused, which gave Supergirl the opening to use this to her advantage to beat an Amazon in an arm wrestling match. Johnny seemed to be channeling a little more of his power into his hands, still worried.
(Hippolyta) - You are 317 years old, Diana! A girl, who is too young and naive to make her own decisions! - Diana looked at her mother, willing to make an attempt to stand up for herself at that moment.
(Diana) - No! It was me, Mom, who survived the 21 tests of the Athena and Aphrodite tournament. While I may be young, I proved that I am a woman and I decide who I want to be. It's the law of the Amazons!
(Hippolyta) - It is the law. - She sighs, being forced to admit defeat. Johnny then, stopped channeling his powers, and beside the girls, looked at the Amazon, who was determined. Hippolyta looked at her daughter, still worried. The group felt proud of Diana now. Having accomplished the mission, Green Lantern conjured a flying carpet and set them all on top, flying away from the ship.
(Barbara) - Congratulations, Diana! Disobeying your mother is total normal teenage lesson #218. You are officially a teenager and we are a team again! And there's only one place to celebrate!
(Karen) - Uh, guys? - Karen pointed in the direction of the pier, seeing that the robots that destroyed Sweet Justice were going to destroy the pier at that very moment, leaving some worried.
(Johnny) - And here we go again. I don't know how I look now, but I'm already a little stressed. - He looks to the sides, while seeing the robots still in demolition position, making the heroes a little worried. - I go there now.
(Jessica) - Are you crazy? If you go there alone, you probably won't be able to destroy all of them.
(Johnny) - We need to do something. - He goes down with the magic carpet, while they look at the robots. Johnny then, positioned himself, channeling his powers in his right hand, giving several blows that opened a hole in the chassis of a robot, followed by a blast that destroyed one of them in several pieces. - I'm already in a rage that you can't even imagine. - Positions herself while at the same time, she felt the rage of everything that was happening taking over her body. The girls began to worry, even more so with the story Johnny had told them about what had happened at his old school. - This pier won't be destroyed!
(Jessica) - Stay calm, Johnny!
(Johnny) - I know, but we need to fix this. I've had enough of my share of problems for today, if you ask me! - He looks at the robots, which were practically positioning themselves in front of the heroes, still in demolition mode, while at the same time, each one seemed to be getting into combat position, trying to contain the machines, regardless of any disadvantage they were having. Gradually, the seven of them stood next to each other, fighting against the machines.
-You must leave this business or dwelling immediately. You are interfering with legal demolition protocols. - Supergirl punches one of the machines, throwing it onto another robot, destroying it as well. With that, a giant robot appeared in front of the group, making it clear what they were up against.
-Came to have some fun, girls? - Barbara looked at the robot, seeing the Lexcorp mark on it, making the girl more optimistic than she already was now.
(Barbara) - A-ha! I knew it, I knew it, I knew it, I knew it! Ahem, I knew it was Lex! - Surprisingly, they looked at the robot, somewhat concerned.
-Lex ? I'm not Lex. - The booth opened, revealing the presence of a girl with blonde hair, wearing a ponytail, further to the group's surprise. - I'm... Hold on a second. - She lifted her seat slowly, revealing her face. - I'm Lena! Lena Luthor! And this is my plan, not my dumb brother's. He could never think of something on this level.
The seven of them looked at each other, kind of nervous. Johnny ended up doing a facepalm, practically annoyed, while Kara being agreeing with him, without understanding anything of what was happening, leaving everyone a bit confused.
(Johnny) - I guess now is the part where I admit this is weird;
(Lena) - Ugh, do I have to spell it out for you guys? - She said, while moving the giant robot at the same time.
(Kara) - It seems so! - The heroine spoke aloud, to make her point clear.
(Lena) - Pfft, figures! You teenagers think you're so smart, because you can stay up late, drive cars, and your commercials! But you are so dumb that you can't even pay attention to the most obvious of evil plans. Even when it's literally in your faces! - Lena spoke, maintaining a confidence in her body, as part of the plan she was putting in place, demonstrating what she was really feeling right now. - So, first, I reprogrammed Lex's useless virtual reality glasses. Then, I hacked the Demolition Robots that the city hired my goofy brother to make. Next, I used them to destroy every "fun" and "cool" place to "hang out" in Metropolis, so that you pesky teenagers would have nowhere to go for your idiotic entertainment, trapped forever in my handmade virtual reality world, made especially for you. Each and every one of you jerks. And with all the teenagers out of the way, the kids could rule Metropolis! - An evil laugh was heard, believing their plan to be foolproof despite everything that had happened, it seemed to get the impression that no one was hearing much of anything. Johnny and the girls began to get more irritated than they could have imagined. But the boy was more stressed than he could count.
(Johnny) - I don't know what to say right now. I'm at a loss for words to describe this... - He puts another hand on his forehead, pulling it down, trying to keep his composure. - There's not even what to say to express myself about this.
(Kara) - That is literally the dumbest plan I've ever heard.
(Lena) - You guys are the worst! Just like every other teenager in Metropolis! And when this pier is history, so are you!
(Barbara) - Your plan will never work, Lena! We teenagers are much stronger than you think! - Suddenly, she saw Karen wearing one of the glasses, in which she seemed to be marveling at what was in them, until suddenly, Batgirl knocks it out of her eyes, giving the girl a mild scare. - Evil!
(Karen) - Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry! - Nervousness took over, as the girls gathered, while Johnny stood by Diana's side, half worried.
(Barbara) - Well, the point is that you can destroy our favorite places, but you can't destroy our friendship!
(Johnny) - Let's not give up now, Lena! Not without a fight.
(Lena) - Pft. Whatever. - Dismisses the group's attitude a bit, while at the same time, starts triggering the robots' controls. - Go for it, boys! - The seven got into position, with Diana taking the lead. Johnny began to concentrate his powers in his hands, at the same time Zee and Jessica began to use their powers, getting into position, at the same time Karen, Barbara and Kara looked at the approaching robots, but Diana kept the sword and shield in her hands, keeping her confidence.
(Diana) - Come, siblings. It was on this sacred ground that we became friends. Now, this pier is where we will become heroes! - The group then went on the attack, attacking every robot that appeared in front of them, willing to save the pier at all costs. Johnny started to use his powers, until he suddenly jumped, falling on the Ferris wheel, what was enough for him to shoot a blast that destroyed some of the shadows, making clear what he was feeling at that moment, channeling all his emotions on the attacks. Zatanna began to destroy several of the shadows, with Supergirl taking the lead, destroying several machines in front of her with her punches, making it clear her super strength in combat.
(Johnny) - This is getting a little weird! - He lands on the ground, trying to attack the robots, causing Barbara to throw herself on top of one of the machines, using her batarang to destroy the display of the robot in front of her. The hero on Batgirl's side throws a punch channeling his energy, but meanwhile, several robots appear in front of him, causing him to be trapped. - And I think I'm in trouble! - He throws another punch, until one of the robots pushes him back, at the same time seeing the robot piloted by Lena, practically nervous. - Guys?
(Diana) - We have a problem here. - It was clear that the girls were having to deal with each robot horde separately. Diana continued to take the lead, so Kara went to the boy, using her strength to destroy some of the robots that would attack him, at the same time that Bumblebee, Green Lantern and Batgirl were attacking, trying to maintain a front against the machines.
(Kara) - You can thank me for that later. - Johnny just gives a little smile on his face, which made Kara look at the robots, getting a little worried.
(Johnny) - Looks like we'll have to go to a backup plan. - The boy stood on the Ferris wheel, looking at the fight, until suddenly, Lena threw one of the tents on the Ferris wheel, making it shake with an intense force. - Not that one!
Trying to steady himself, Johnny suddenly ends up falling off the top of the Ferris wheel, becoming worried about what had happened.
(Johnny) - Come on, don't fail now! - He starts to concentrate his powers, trying to avoid the fall, but it seemed that they were failing, having problems to concentrate, until suddenly, he felt something grabbing one of his legs and pulling him, avoiding the fall. Looking to the side, he saw Zatanna atop one of the attractions on the pier, managing to hold him up using her magic. - Zatanna, have I ever said that you turn my world upside down? - That was enough to make the magician smile, a little surprised by the hero's joke.
(Zee) - You can still be funny at these times, can't you? - She kneels down, looking at the boy, who was wearing his hero costume, trying to keep a little posture.
(Johnny) - I am trying something different. - The two saw the robots approaching, so Zee put him down, so he could get back into the fight. Slowly, he began to channel his powers again, trying to give his all, but at the same time, he tried to join his attacks with those of Diana and Kara, taking the front, until suddenly, one of the robots throws him back, being surprised to see the strength of the machines. - These things are kind of tough indeed. - Despite the front they were taking, the pier was still being destroyed, which forced the group to regroup and retreat, trying to contain them from a distance, which made things even more difficult than they could imagine.
(Zee) - We are totally losing it, guys! - Zatanna spoke, with a certain worry in her body. - And every teenager in Metropolis is going to pay the price! - Johnny continued to concentrate his powers, trying to create a barrier to contain the robots, but they began to force the barrier, almost breaking it.
(Johnny) - This is going very wrong! - Slowly, each of the heroes looked at the machines, while Lena was more confident in her triumph, seeing how the protectors were being defeated. - I won't last long!
(Diana) - It is impossible for a group of seven warriors to defeat an army... - The Amazon got a little pensive, almost nervous inside and out, until an idea crossed her mind. - Unless... we defeat the general. - The idea seemed kind of risky, considering the situation at hand. Defeating whoever was controlling the robots was a bit tricky. After all, each of them needed to stand their ground.
(Johnny) - This is crazy! Fighting head-on against the general could be a suicide mission if everything goes wrong! If we make a mistake, they will destroy the pier! - The fear was taking over again, little by little, Johnny started to lose the concentration of his powers, trying to reinforce the barrier to stand firm at that moment. - No, not now! - Slowly, his energy began to focus in his hands, keeping the barrier firm in every possible aspect, however, it was getting harder and harder. - I am losing my concentration! My fear is coming back again. If it goes on like this, they're going to break it!
(Jessica) - Undo the barrier! - Jessica spoke, trying to keep the boy confident in the fight. - If we want this idea to work, we have to undo it!
(Johnny) - Are you sure? - The heroine nodded. With that, Johnny dispelled the barrier, half nervous. Fearful. But little by little, his body calmed down. Each one of the group looked at the machines, without them seeing, Supergirl ended up flying to one of the tents, seeing an electric guitar and an amplifier.
(Kara) - I have one like that and it short-circuits my house all the time! Just crank it up to ten and rip it! - She held up the equipment, making Zee, Johnny, Barbara, Karen, Jessica and Diana realize that they had part of the solution, but they needed the rest of it to defeat the wrecking bots controlled by Lena.
(Barbara) - But how are we going to get her to the motherboard inside the war suit? - The uncertainty was clear, however, Karen looked at the giant robot, feeling a certain tension in her body, until she took the front.
(Karen) - I'll do it. - That sentence was enough to make Diana worry about Bumblebee.
(Diana) - Bumblebee, are you sure?
(Karen) - It's too scary and I don't want to do it. - Karen closed her eyes. After a few seconds, she opened them, trying to gather courage in her body. - But I will!
(Barbara) - I'll mess with the amp to get past 10. - Connects the string, confident. - We should have a chance if we do everything right.
(Diana) - Then it's decided! Green Lantern, get Batgirl as close as you can to Lena. Supergirl, Zatanna, you're with me. - The Amazon looked at Johnny, who was getting ready to act, until she realized something about him. - Johnny, I just realized something: You haven't figured out your hero name yet.
(Johnny) - That's right. - The boy thought, remembering how afraid he was of his powers, but he forgot to touch on what name he would like to have as a hero. Remembering a bit of Greek mythology, and a few other details, he thought about choosing a name, which might cause a bit of trouble with Diana. - You may call me Atlas, Diana. But it has nothing to do with what you're thinking.
(Diana) - You assure me it has nothing to do with the legend of the Titans imprisoned by the Gods?
(Johnny) - I guarantee it. - Nervousness took over, while at the same time, they saw the robot approaching, making it clear that things were getting complicated at that moment. Little by little, it was clear that time was against them, whatever they did, they would have to resist until they could defeat Lena.
(Diana) - Come with us then, Atlas. - He looked at Wonder Woman, Supergirl, and Zatanna, realizing that he would need to take a lot more risk than he imagined. Joining forces with magic, Johnny and Zee began to distract Lena. First she started teleporting on top of the robot, causing Luthor to try to attack, until she suddenly teleported from one side to the other, distracting Lena and preventing her from being able to attack her. That was enough for Atlas to position himself behind the machine, channeling his magic, while at the same time, firing a blast to the back, drawing Lena's attention.
(Johnny) - Looking for someone? - Luthor's anger was enough to try to strike Atlas, who dodges, taking a leap to the side, followed by another jump, standing on top of a tent, until Lena tries to slap him, blocking the robot's left hand with her magic, trying to focus on her powers so they wouldn't fail. Zatanna continued to get the robot's attention, still teleporting, which gave the gap to free the boy from the situation he was in. Slowly, the boy managed to irritate the enemy on its fronts even more by firing another blast that caused the robot to give a slight tremble.
(Lena) - You're already making me angry here!
(Johnny) - What can I say? I have this effect once in a while. - When one of the robot's palms tried to hit him, without him seeing, his body levitated, dodging the attack. When he opened his eyes, he saw that he was flying lightly, to the surprise of the girls, and Johnny himself, who couldn't believe what he had done. - Incredible...
(Lena) - You think just because you're flying means you're going to escape? - He dodges another attack, one after another, being surprised with his ability.
(Johnny) - I think that's only going to work as long as I'm focused. - He sidesteps, and fires off another blast, managing to draw Lena's attention to himself. Zee was surprised, but deep down, she was sensing that he might not be able to maintain the flying ability for very long, as he was hardly having a certain exact command of his abilities. Landing on top of another tent, Luthor decided to take the opportunity to crush him once and for all, causing Zee to use more of her teleportation magic to distract her, until suddenly, Supergirl, using her strength and Wonder Woman, using her lasso, trapped the robots arms, which gave the gap for Zatanna and Atlas to attack, with the hero taking a leap that allowed him to concentrate energy in his hands and punch at the same time as the magic, managing to bewilder Lena within it. Slowly, the two began to use their powers, firing off a few bursts, which gave the gap for Bumblebee to fly into the giant robot unnoticed. Green Lantern then decided to take Batgirl as close as he could with a remote-controlled bumper car, which gave the loophole to connect the amplifier. Managing to raise the amplifier to 11 using her wits and a marker pen, the heroine put a smile on her face. Throwing the socket high, Barbara managed to get the connector inside the robot, causing Bumblebee to fly with it to the entrance, giving them a chance to act. - We're going to win!
(Lena) - Not if it's up to me! - Suddenly, Lena made the robot she was piloting take off, throwing some of the heroines backwards and also throwing Johnny to the ground, to everyone's surprise. Batgirl started hanging by the cable, trying to avoid falling, while at the same time, Bumblebee saw the amplifier connector coming loose from the input, to her surprise, which made everyone a little nervous.
(Zee) - It's getting worse! - Atlas then saw the machines surrounding him, which forced him to get defensive again, firing several bursts one after the other, making it clear that he was more than trapped, which made Jessica use her ring, pushing the robots that were surrounding the boy into the water, shorting out some of them.
(Johnny) - I should have opened my mouth, shouldn't I? - Suddenly, one of the robots approached Jessica, trying to attack her, until Atlas created a barrier again, helping her. - I don't know how much longer we can hold out. - Zee used her magic to manage to destroy the robot that was being contained by the barrier, helping the two heroes at that moment. At the same time, the difficulty to hold Lena was increasing, and getting worse. Time was running against them, while it was clear that they could be at the disadvantage very soon if everything kept going wrong. It was all or nothing now, needing to give it their all to get the plan in place.
(Barbara) - Hey, Supergirl? Are you ready to rock?
(Lena) - All right, little girl! Time for a lullaby! - Using her rockin' skills, Kara played the guitar hard, sending a shockwave into the robot, but the cable was still disconnected from the inside. Bumblebee saw the situation and decided to do something even more risky on her part. Sighing in concern, Karen put one of her fingers into the connector's entrance, using the energy from her suit to get the robot to work. With an electrical charge coursing through her body, it was clear that Karen had managed to connect to the robot.
Suddenly, the robot piloted by Lena shut down as she complained inside that the heroes had cheated, until she realized she was going down with everything. With the fall, the robots were turned off, as were the virtual reality goggles each youngster was wearing in Metropolis. Kara, Zee, Johnny, Diana, Jessica, and Barbara gathered around, with the boy falling to his knees on the ground, causing Jessica and Barbara to help him stand.
(Johnny) - I'm all right. I think my body got a little tired all of a sudden.
(Jessica) - How did you manage to do that? - she asked, referring to the flight ability.
(Johnny) - I don't know. But people, where's Karen? - He spoke, a little worried, realizing the situation. At the same time, Barbara looked to the sides, making the other girls do the same thing, until they saw a yellow glow behind the group, seeing that Karen had managed to get out of it in time. The group then, went after her, seeing that she was a little dizzy, and with a small change in a part of her hair: A yellow highlight, due to the shock she had taken, leaving Zee impressed.
(Zee) - Nice highlight! What is your secret? - Quickly, Diana hugged Karen, with a smile on her face.
(Diana) - Courage. - Everyone was gathered, with that, Lena began to be led by her parents to the car, in which Lex looked at everything, half-confident. Johnny then looked away, keeping his composure.
(Johnny) - Sayonara, Lena. - He chuckles lightly, seeing Luthor's plight after the fight. However, the seven were half surprised to see the crowd on their side, practically thrilled.
-Superheroes! Here in Metropolis!
-And they're girls! -And they're girls! Except for the little guy over there. Do you think he cares?
(Johnny) - Let's just say no! - With that, the audience around the group started to applaud, shouting the name of the group: Super Hero Girls. Johnny was more than happy. So were the girls he had made friends with. He had moved. A new city. New friends. And a new purpose. And that was something that made him happy inside.
Three months later...
On the day of the grand reopening of Sweet Justice, all the youngsters were gathered after the formation of the Super Hero Girls team. The pier had also been rebuilt, as had all the other attractions on it, showing how things were getting back to normal. Inside the ice cream shop, Diana, Barbara, Zee, Jessica, Karen, Kara and Johnny had some ice cream, and to their surprise, the boy had picked up about 3 different flavors of ice cream.
(Johnny) - What? This place was closed for so long that I thought we should come back with everything. - He takes one of his ice-creams that was chocolate, which was still intact. - Does anyone want some? - Suddenly, Diana took the ice cream, starting to drink it, to his surprise, a sign that she had indeed adapted to being a teenager.
(Kara) - I have to admit it's kind of funny watching this.
(Johnny) - I still need to understand a little bit about how to use my powers. Maybe learn a little more about certain tricks I don't know. - He looks at his hand, knowing he was still feeling it inside, but decides to ignore the situation for a while, letting his thoughts take over.
(Zee) - Now that's life. Good friends and good chocolate. - The magician spoke, with a smile on her face, feeling how well everything was going now for each of them.
(Jessica) - I know, right? It's so good to see that everything is getting back to normal.
(Barbara) - Blah, normal is overkill. Hey, remember when we first came here, and Diana said she wanted to be in this place all the time? - Babs stood on one knee, imitating Batman's position, while at the same time, Johnny ate some of the ice cream he had with him, being a little surprised. Removing a good portion of the straws from the dispenser, she pulled the dispenser, causing the group to end up going all over the floor. Trying to recover a little, still a little bewildered, the lights came on, revealing a different kind of place, with a rest room, training rooms, to the surprise of each of the group.
(Barbara) - Ta-da! It's our own hideout! I made some overnight visits to the construction site while they were rebuilding.
(Johnny) - Incredible.
(Diana) - This really is a place of wonders.
