Summary/Disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Ghost Jedi. enjoy the 1200-word chapter. I don't own Star Wars, Disney and Lucas Arts.
(Rodia, 19BBY)
The LAAT landed in the middle of Rodia's swampland. Gremal slowly stepped out from behind Gregor and Ghost Company.
"Couldn't have picked a better place to land." Waxer joked as Gremal chuckled.
"Yeah, we always get the best jobs in the Republic, Waxer." Gremal joked back which caused the clones to chuckle and crack smiles under their helmets. "Jokes aside? Rodia isn't where I expected to find droids. What brought them here?" Gremal questioned and rubbed at his chin in interest.
Rodia was a republic world, but there was no tactical worth here. There weren't any unique materials like tabana gas or rare metals. There was plenty of questions… And no real answers.
Still? That was why he was here… To find said answers.
"Sir!" Wooley said and pointed ahead as Gremal pulled out his electrobinoculars and looked ahead.
There was a C-9979 droid landing ship passing overhead like some giant insect. Gremal and Ghost Company watched as the craft slowly floated towards one of Rodia's cities, it's belly probably full of droids for conquest.
"Heh, and here I was going to go fish to pass time." Torque said as Gremal hummed. "There's probably more droids in that area. Seppies must be conquering the planet." Torque said to which Gregor hummed.
"Orders, General?" Gregor questioned as Gremal turned to the soldier.
"Let's check it out and wait for the techs to be done." Gremal said and handed the viewing device to Waxer. "Last thing we want is dropping an army on top of droids with hostages. Gregor? Send word back to the Vigilance, their contact Master Yoda for more instructions." Gremal ordered the clone captain who nodded.
"Still doesn't answer the question of WHY the clankers are here." Waxer put in as Gremal nodded. "Maybe their trying to hold the world hostage? Like Ryloth. You can't hit back when you have civilians in the crosshairs." Waxer stated while Gremal hummed.
"Yes, there is a Rodian senator in the Republic." Gremal said as he crossed his arms. "Gregor, take Wooley, Torque, and Boil and do some recon… The rest of us are going to see what we can dig up on the Separatist goals here." Gremal said as he frowned and looked around with interest.
A pair of Vulture Droids flew overhead, ignoring the LAAT as they headed to the domed city as well. Gremal was beginning to believe Waxer's theory more with every passing second.
"Something tells me we should call in backup." Waxer said as Gregor turned on his wrist comlink.
Gremal motioned the remaining clones ahead as Gregor turned and led his squad down and into the swamp.
"What do you think happened to Admiral Coburn?" Waxer questioned as he and two new clones 'Cale' and 'Trapper walked with Gremal. "Haven't heard what happened to him since Sullest, he just seemed to drop off the map." Waxer stated while Gremal frowned.
"Ahsoka took him and transported him to the Valor aboard the Tribunal." Gremal stated, keeping his hand close to his belt. "Then she returned to the Marg Sabl and got new orders. She and the 332nd are busy fighting on Saleucami, currently." Gremal said as Cale raised an eyebrow under his shiny new armor.
"Marg Sabl?" The trooper questioned as Waxer nodded. "Never heard of a name like that." Cale added to which Gremal hummed and frowned.
"it's a Togrutan Flower that opens its petals in a sunburst shape every morning." Gremal explained, putting his other hand on his hip. "Ahsoka misses her people, her culture is a big part of her past." Gremal said, another frown pulling at his lips.
Every single time he thought of something else? Something always seemed to pull his thoughts back to her. Gremal felt off about that.
"Well, if it's the 332nd?" Waxer said, breaking the Jedi General from his thoughts. "Then Saleucami is as good as liberated. Their mostly 501st, I'd expect nothing better from the heart of the Republic." Waxer said, gaining a smirk from Gremal.
"I think we can both agree on that, Waxer." Gremal said and hummed as he noticed the landing ships starting to unload droids. "That's not an garrison, it's an invasion force." Gremal said as dozens of droids started to descend the ramp.
"Too late to make a bet on credits?" Eyeball said to which Gremal grimly chuckled at the moment. "Their probably pulling another Ryloth. Put guns to the planet's head? We can't do anything without people getting hurt." Eyeball stated as another landing ship passed overhead, surrounded by Vulture Droids.
"Oy…" Gremal said while his men kept their blasters ready. "Gregor, have you and your team located anything? We've found plenty of droids landing in one of Rodia's cities. I'm starting to think Waxer is right about them holding the planet hostage." Gremal added over his wrist communicator.
He knew just how dangerous things were going to be. If the droids were going to fight them regularly? He'd have no issue handling them regularly… But with hostages? They had to figure out a more indirect measure to try and win.
It made him ponder what the droids wanted with Rodia. They were clearly here in numbers, even with a Republic Fleet overhead.
"Someone is ordering them to do this, and it isn't a Tactical Droid." Gremal put in as he frowned and turned to the side. "That's the only reason the droids would be operating out in broad daylight with Republic forces here." Gremal stated and crossed his arms.
Was it a stupid idea? Probably, but Gremal didn't exactly have many other ideas in his head… And from his experience with droids? He knew for a fact that the droids wouldn't take chances unless they had a cocky commander busy pulling their strings.
"Do you think we can take them down?" Gremal heard from Torque. "They outnumber us 20 to 1… General, we think we might know who's behind these droids at the moment." Gremal heard before the sound of engines were heard.
"Sir, Vultures incoming!" Waxer stated as the shrieking sound drew closer and closer.
Gremal turned and looked to see a pair of Vulture Droids were shrieking down at them. Gremal watched as one of the 2 droids started to deploy a torpedo towards them.
Gremal held up his hand to stop the projectile with the force at the moment.
The other vulture droid began to deploy as Gremal hummed and looked at the explosive with interest before tossing it at one of the Vulture Droids.
The battle of Rodia had started, and it was clear that Gremal had his hands full.
He watched as the torpedo impacted one of the droids, blowing it into scrap metal.
