(Rodia, 19BBY)
Gremal and several LAATs broke through the orbit of the planet. They soared through space towards the moon as he looked at the space battle.
Vigilance and its escorts traded cannon fire with the rest of the separatist fleet. Turbolasers flew from both armadas as vulture droids and V-19 torrent fighters raced around the larger vessels.
"What does Count Dooku want with Rodia?" Gremal questioned as the republic gunships headed for the moon. "There has to be something that he needs here, something worth putting all this effort into… I'm just not seeing it." Gremal stated as he sighed and rubbed at his temples.
A vulture droid angled towards the craft as it rotated a ball turret to take care of the craft. Gremal was curious as to how many droids had managed to land and set themselves up. There was no strategy with droids, they simply attacked and attacked until either they or the enemy was dead.
It would work better if the military they were fighting were bad at their jobs or underequipped, but currently? The republic had neither of those weaknesses to rely on at the end of the day and they also had far more then enough soldiers to fight the separatists on any battlefront.
"Your well aware the longer this goes on? The more droids they have down there, right?" One of the clones asked another as the vulture droid exploded into fragments.
The blast cutting through it's armor like water through snow. It made Gremal hope the entire battle would be this easy… But deep down? He knew it wouldn't be like that, they had too many soldiers to just power through them. Gremal would have had a bombing run down upon the base, but the collateral damage it caused would have made the republic look bad.
"General, we're breaking through." Gremal heard as the gunship started to descend to the ground, barreling through gunfire.
Gremal watched his men fan out before an explosion forced them into cover behind a rock formation. They peaked out to be greeted by an entire line of battle droids who all began firing in tandem at the republic troops, intent on killing them.
"Great, dozens of droids on this area." Gremal stated, pausing as he thought about the rest of his troops. "And there's plenty of reinforcements behind them I'm sure, why do I constantly have to deal with missions like this?" Gremal asked, turning to ignite his lightsaber and look upon the battlefield.
There were more droids coming, so were their reinforcements, so were his. The longer they stood their ground, however? The longer the space battle was going to rage, still? If it was allowed to continue? Then either his fleet or the droid armada could seize the advantage and interfere.
"We need to clear a path to their foundry before they cause too much damage." Gremal stated to which he was curious about the best plan to win. "Form up behind me!" Gremal ordered as he turned towards the rest of his troops.
Gremal dove out from behind cover, his lightsaber tracing a path of destruction through the enemy. His clones provided as much cover fire as their blasters would allow. Gremal watched several b1s collapse to the ground, sparks flying from their damaged forms as he leapt into the air, bringing his weapon down upon one of the b1s, cutting it apart.
The droid fell to the ground while Gremal started to step over the droid, unsure what to think at the moment. He waved his men forward while looking behind him as another gunship arrived, starting to deploy more clones onwards, their blasts were slowly moving forward as he brought up his lightsaber to deflect gunfire a moment later.
There were far more blasts of fire, curious as to what to do next. Gremal knew they'd be fighting tooth and nail at the end of the day to win and Gremal would be damned if he let them get the best of him so easy.
He deflected a trio of blasts, watching a line of B2s start to march upon them as he brushed off his temples, curious as to his next move. Gremal watched a trio of Spider droids began to attack them, his lightsaber cutting a path of death and destruction into the droids as he sighed, angrier at their defiance and harming of his friends than anything else.
This planet wouldn't be lost, not to the separatists when he thought about it. Gremal wasn't moving from this place and he'd be ripping thought about them when it came down to it.
Still? There was a strategy to be deployed when it came down to it. Gremal thought about said strategy at the moment when he was curious about this.
Gremal hummed, bringing up his lightsaber at the time when it came down to it? He needed to surge forward, hitting these droids as hard and as fast as possible.
