Chapter Eight
It's been four days since team flash captured Dr. Light and Ralph returned from investigating a string of murders that involved a 'Vampire', in reality it was just a psychotic doctor that was draining their victims from a modified syringe with two needles.
"What do you mean she won't tell you?" Ralph argued.
"What I just said Ralph." Barry argued back.
"Let me in there, I'll get her to talk." Frost spoke out of nowhere.
"Frost, we are not torturing her." Barry said.
"Yeah why not let her in there Elsa needs to let off some steam." Ralph commented. Barry's eyes widened at the comment and knew what was coming next as did Cisco.
Frost ice blasted Ralph across the room, and at that moment Wally walked in.
"Ralph called Frost Elsa?" Wally asked, pointing at him and every one just nodded in agreement.
"Anyway, what do we do about Thawn?" Cisco asked, finally speaking up.
Barry just shook his, not knowing what to do, Barry thought he was finally done with Thawn for at least a couple of years. Frost retreated back into her spot in Caitlin's mind.
"Well for now Barry we need to get going, we still need to take Kara and Alex school shopping for their first day." Caitlin spoke.
After leaving STAR Labs Barry and Caitlin headed over to Joe's to pick up Kara and Alex. When Barry knocked on the door of the house he grew up in he wasn't expecting for Iris to open the Door for the third time. "Iris, I thought you were in Coast city for a job interview?" Barry said, trying to hide frustration to seeing her.
"Well I was on my way but when I got to the airport I figured I would try and patch things up with you, and was going to try and talk to you about some things." Iris responded.
"Iris you know I don't…" as Barry was talking Kara ran up and gave her father a massive hug, with Alex right behind her.
"Alright girls, are you ready to go?" Barry asked, completely forgetting about Iris.
"Barry, can we get together sometime and talk?" Iris asked as Barry was walking to his car.
"We'll see." was all Barry said
As Barry got into the car a bit upset. "Is everything ok?" Caitlin asked, nodding to Iris, and Barry rolled his eyes.
"She wants to talk to dad alone." Kara spoke without thinking and Alex elbowed her in the ribs but Alex ended up hurting herself.
"Oww, shit…" and Caitlin looks over at Alex with a raised eyebrow.
"Sorry." Alex apologized
"Why did you do that?" Kara asked her sister. "You know you can't hurt me."
"Well what did you say?" Caitlin said, getting a bit jealous.
"I don't want to see her after what she did," Barry stated.
Caitlin, liking his answer, drove off to get Kara and Alex school supplies.
After getting everything that Kara and Alex needed for school. They got home and ready for dinner Barry had made chicken alfredo. After dinner Kara went to her parents room finally knowing what she wanted her uncle Cisco to make her.
"Mom, Dad?" Kara knocked on the door frame.
"Kara sweetie What's the matter?" Caitlin asked, looking up from the book she was reading. Barry looked up as well from resting his head.
"I know what I want uncle Cisco to make me." Kara said in her blue fuzzy pajama pants with snowflakes.
Caitlin took off her glasses and put down the book she was reading then patted the space between her and Barry. Barry propped up onto his elbow to listen to what his daughter had to say. Kara laid between her parents and snuggled into Caitlin.
"Alright Kara what is it that you want?" Barry asked.
"I want him to make me something to change the color of my eye." Kara said, covering her left eye. "Maybe he could make it green like the other one?" When Kara was growing up she noticed that on Krypton she was the only one with two different eye colors, then when she found out that Barry was her real father she thought that a lot of people on earth had different eye colors but that theory was proven to be wrong and again she felt different from the people around her. "Dad, I just want to look like everyone else."
"Kara, you are beautiful just the way you are, don't let anyone tell you any different." Barry said and he and Caitlin kissed her forehead, then Barry kissed her left eye.
"Of course you are beautiful Kara, and if anyone has anything to say about it they can deal with me." Alex said, cracking her knuckles after hearing the whole conversation.
"But Kara if it's what you want then we can ask Cisco he should still be at the lab."Caitlin said texting Cisco.
The next morning the flash family walked into STAR Labs before Alex and Kara had to go to school. They walked into Cisco's workshop to find him sleeping with his face on his keyboard.
Kara went and hugged her uncle Cisco and woke him up by squeezing a bit too tight. Cisco screamed in terror by being woken up by Kara.
"Alright supergirl...I...can't breathe." was all Cisco was able to say.
Kara let him go and apologized while Cisco was trying to breathe. After catching his breath, Cisco pulled out a contact lens.
"Alright Kara, now I made this contact lens and added a bit of my Cisco flare, I stayed up all night coding this thing. It has a special Hud that will help you understand since you're still new to this planet and all you have to do is turn it on from your phone it will also connect to the hearing aids Felicity made you." Cisco said, explaining his gift to Kara.
Kara put on the contact lens and turned it on then began to hear a soft female voice almost computer like.
"Hello, Kara, I am Alice. I am here to help you for your everyday needs." The AI spoke in Kara's ears.
"It has an Artificial Intelligence I like to call Artificial, Linguistic, Internet, Computer, Entity." Cisco announced, proud of his creation.
"Alice?" Caitlin asked
"And before you say anything, yes I'm going to be adding this to the building's defence program." Cisco held up a finger to Barry to shut him up. "Preferably after I get some sleep." Cisco walked off and laid down in the med bay.
Kara looked into the camera of her phone and saw that she looked normal with two green eyes, and she was happy.
As the school bell rang dozens of eighth grade students ran to class hoping not to be late. Kara did the same and entered her first period. The teacher was a middle aged woman with dirty blond hair that came up to her shoulders, and was wearing a blue pencil skirt, and a black long sleeve, and kind of reminded her of Caitlin when she's at work.
"Alright everyone, we have a new student today." the older lady announced to the class. "Kara my name is Mrs. Grant, why don't you introduce yourself to the class."
Kara gets up and walks to the front of the class with her head down.
" hi...I'm Kara.. Snow-Allen." Kara fixed her glasses trying to find something to distract herself. Kara walked back to her desk and sat down and ducked her head trying not to draw attention to herself.
Kara was taking out her notebook and pencil to get ready for class, but the kid next to her kept on trying to get her attention.
"Psst… Kara.." Kara looked at the kid a bit annoyed.
"Did you say your name was Allen?" the boy asked. Kara just nodded. "As in Barry Allen, the owner of STAR Labs?" The boy got a bit excited, Kara nodded again. "Hi my name is Winn..Winn Schott." (Shot)
Kara smiled at the fact that people knew her father. "How do you know my dad?" Kara asked
"Are you kidding me? I've been a fan of his ever since he became the owner of the place. Did you know that he helps out with the police department by creating tech for them to use." Winn geeked out about meeting the daughter of his idol.
"Actually I think that's my uncle Cisco that builds the tech, I think my dad who just promotes it." Kara explained to Winn.
"Francisco Ramon? Genius technical engineer Francisco Ramon, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, Sorry I'm nerding out aren't I?" Winn said, calming himself down.
"What's nerding out?" Kara asked.
"Nerding Out, Verb, nerd outthird-person singular simple present nerds out, slang, 'To study intensely.' Kara jumped at the sudden computerized voice in her ear.
"Are you ok?" Winn asked, noticing her flinch.
"Yeah.. I'm fine." Kara wanted to say something but she just met Winn.
At lunchtime Kara ended up buying one of everything. When she found a place to sit, which was off to the far end of the lunch room.
Winn, wanting to know more about STAR Labs, sat across from Kara.
"Wow, are you going to eat all of that?" Winn asked and Kara stopped mid-spoonful.
"What? I'm hungry." Kara continues to eat her lunch.
"Aren't you worried you'll get fat?" Win asked worriedly.
"Not on this planet." Kara whispered to herself. "I have a high metabolism, my dad is the same way."
"In order for you to function you need to consume approximately ten thousand calories everyday."
"I.. Kara?" Winn asked nervously
"What's up?" Kara asked, looking up from her mountain of food.
"Ca.. Can we be friends?" the nerdy boy asked.
Kara was confused thinking they already were friends. "Oh, I thought we already were friends?" Winn smiled happy that finally he made a friend.
"Right, so do you want to hang out sometime after school?" Winn asked excitedly to have someone to talk to.
"Well I would have to ask my mom and dad, but if they say I can, of course." Kara said excited
When school was over everyone rushed out to be free of the child prison. Alex is waiting, typing on her phone she looks up at her sister walking with a brunette boy. Reaching Alex she introduces him as her new friend Winn, she just raises an eyebrow at him, takes kara hand and drags her away. Kara turns her head back at him and waves bye.
"Alex, that's rude" she whines. She just shrugs and lets go of Kara's hand and they keep walking toward a convenient store to get drinks and snacks. Alex already knows Kara will whine if they don't.
Paying for their stuff they leave and head to star labs. Passing an alley a block from star labs, Kara hears a girl scream as she turns to see, she is knocked to the ground. Kara gets the wind knocked out and actually feels pain.
She groans and hears another groan above her. She looks up and finds curious green eyes staring back at her. An angry growl and barks breaks Kara out of her trance and the other girl jumps up with a yelp. The girl runs behind her and Kara looks at the offending creature and sees a large grey dog she perks up at it and screams "Puppy''. Kara runs to scope it up and Alex jumps in and yells at her not to pick it up. The girls watched in horror at the small blonde holding the monstrous pit-bull like it were a stuffed animal. Kara turns to Alex, forgetting the other girl and pouts "can we keep it".
Alex frowns "No, we can't keep it!" As the two sisters argue about the dog, the small girl turns and runs away in horror.
"Why can't we keep it?" Kara said, getting upset.
"Because we don't know what Barry and Caitlin will say." Alex tried to reason with Kara.
"Wait where did the girl go?" Alex asked looking around
"Can we go ask mom and dad right now?" Kara said, still holding the pit bull.
As Kara and Alex enter the cortex Barry and Cisco are the only one's there. Barry was at Caitlin's desk going through some paperwork for the building, and Cisco was at his desk reading a comic book adding ALICE to the building's defence protocol.
"Dad, we found a puppy!" Kara yelled to the side of Cisco, the dog barked loudly and scared Cisco.
"Ahh! What the hell is that!" Cisco screamed, afraid of the dog.
Barry jumped at the bark and looked confused. "Where did you find it?" Barry asked.
"Dad, can we keep it?" Kara said, ignoring the question.
"We found it in an alley on our way here." Alex answered
"We'll have to wait for Cait to get back from jitters, but I'm ok with it if she is." Barry said.
"Speak of the devil, tell your daughter to get that monster out of this building." Cisco said inching away from Kara.
"Why do you have a dog?" Caitlin raised he eyebrow
"It's a puppy, can we keep it?" Kara made the saddest puppy dog eyes, and licked Kara's face.
Frost caved and came out to hug Kara and pet the dog. "Frost, we still need Caitlin to agree." Barry said
"Ok handsome but I'll remember that later." Frost winked at Barry which made Barry's face turn red as his suit.
"Eww guy's we're right here!" Alex screamed in discussed
"Ugh I'm right there with you sister." Cisco said before leaving.
"Cait, what do you say?" Barry asked
"He needs a bath first before it enters the house." Caitlin demanded. "So what are we calling him?"
"Pot Stickers!" Kara yelled.
"Kara sweetie inside voice." Barry looked up from the paperwork to Kara with a raised eyebrow.
"Sorry daddy." Kara apologized. Alex not liking the dog just groaned in frustration.
"Ok we should get 'pots tickers' clean before we head home." Caitlin said
The little flash family left STAR Labs to wash the new addition to the family and headed home for the rest of the day.
