Chapter 2 The Game Begins - Halloween Night

GCPD Building

We see Captain Jim Gordon on the rooftop of the GCPD building, having the bat signal up and light up the night sky, calling two brothers to meet him as something bad has come up, very bad news which he took out his pipe for a smoke but was stopped as the door opens behind him and saw Gotham's DA coming in, Harvey Dent.

"Do they always keep you waiting?" Harvey asked, looking at the sky to see the bat symbol in the night sky and would admit was an impressive sight to see.

"They'll be here," Jim replied as he lights up his pipe and took a smoke.

"I thought you quiet?"

"I have."

"Don't worry I won't tell Barbara."

"Gentlemen," A dark voice spoke, getting their attention to see the Dark Knight himself, Batman in the shadows and coming to the light, wearing a black and grey costume as the night, black cape & cowl with bat designs, black bat symbol on his chest, razor blades on his arms and legs gear, and grey utility belt.

"Ah good, you are here. Where's the other-," Jim questioned but was cut off when the other crime-fighting hero appeared, landing in front of three and stood up before them.

He was a young man with the same build as Batman but a different costume design. He wore a black and orange suit with black body armor & orange belts with a kunia & utility belt of the same color that is mix with black color design. He wore a white cape that had the same batwing shape design as Batman and a white covering his face, leaving a pair of white eyes free to see, and wore a black mask that covered his face. This was Kitsune, one of the first heroes to come out and before the Dark Knight.

"Evening," Kitsune greeted as he stood up and the brothers were side by side now.

"This is district attorney Harvey...," Jim started but wasn't needed as the brothers have met the new DA before, a good number of times.

"Bats, Foxs," Harvey greeted.

"Dent," The brothers greeted back.

"Okay," Jim said as he walks over the three and reached for a ziplock bag of a crime that took place tonight.

"What's happened?" Kitsune asked, getting to the point on why they are called up here.

"Johnny Viti was murdered tonight," Jim answered, bring out bad news and the ziplock bag, showed the pistol that was used to kill the one man that could be used to bring down the Roman.

"Danm it!" Harvey cursed, couldn't believe this as tomorrow, Johnny would be in the courthouse, and now he has nothing to use against the crime boss, Carmine Falcone.

"The Roman's nephew," Batman said as he took the bag and look at the pistole for any clues left behind.

"He has a name, Carmine Falcone, not the Roman!" Harvey almost snapped, being very upset with this.

"Harvey, calm down," Jim said.

"Where were you men, Jim? I have been working on Viti for months. Nobody on your time thought he needed protection on the day before he was going to be questioned!" Harvey yelled but took off and needed to calm down.

"22, dent handle," Batman informed, seeing the gun was costume P-22 pistol with a dent and odd handle with a baby bottle nipple used as a slicer.

"Cereal number as been stretched, no way to figure out who brought or used the gun," Kitsune said, seeing the side of the pistol had been stretched and no numbers on it, meaning the killer cover their tracks up.

"A baby bottle nipple use for the slicer. Odd but effected and hard for clues to pick up. It's hard to tell if we are dealing with a professional," Jim commented.

"We might," Kitsune said, seeing the crime photos with Batman and looked through them in case the police miss anything.

"Of course it was a professional! This was Falcone! He found out that Viti was going to betray the family. Viti was going to crack and Faclone hired someone to take him out!" Harvey shouted but then calm down and need to relax.

"Maybe," Batman said, handing some of the photos to Kitsune.

Kitsune can agree to that as Faclone could be a possible one as he has motive and reasons to remove Viti, his own family but no proof to support that.

Harvey sighed, taking a deep breath and calm down.

"We were so close. We were so close, Jim. He was ready to sing. Not just about Carmine, the whole family was going away. We had a real chance to change things," Harvey said, seeing how they lost their one shot and were blasted away from their grasp.

"We still do, just a setback. We will find another way to take down Falcone. Together," Jim said, easing the DA a bit.

"Where's with the jack lantern?" Batman asked, getting the two's attention but not Kitsune.

"Huh, excuse me?" Jim questioned.

Batman showed the picture of the crime scene, a picture of the gun by the jack lantern.

Kitsune narrowed his eyes and didn't want to fight that monster again, a certain one that loves the Halloween theme.

"Do you think it ties to an old friend of yours, Foxs?" Jim asked.

"No, the Goblin and his criminal empire fall down, almost a year ago. I was there and saw it happened. It can't be him," Kitsune explained, recalling his brutal fight against Osborn and his criminal empire that he personally brought down with his own two hands.

"Anyone else in mind?" The captain said to Batman.

"I don't know," Batman replied.

"Look Harvey is right. This city has a real chance to change. And it's up to the four standing here tonight, right now. Falcone crime family has to be taken down. So I am putting you three together. DA Dent would work in the light...and you two...on the other side," Jim informed.

"The shadows for our case," Kitsune said, catching on to what the captain wanted him and his brother to do.

"Bend the rules but never break them. I will do all I can to protect you three," Jim said.

"Understood," Dent said.

Something got the brothers' attention and got them to the edge of the rooftop to see two certain thieves that had been watching and listening to the whole talk. Kitsune and Batman know who the pair are as they waved their hands to the brothers.

"I need to hear you said it?" Harvey asked.

"Two heads are better than one but three is overkill," Batman started.

"Bats would help with Captain Godorn while you will work for me, Harvey. Each with two heads and both minds at work," Kitsune finished.

Batman and Kitsune were now able to see the cat thieves better now, both were leading up against a rooftop exited the door, and smirked at the brothers before taking their leave.

"Leads come our way pretty fast. We would be in touch and keep your ears open," Kitsune said as the brothers have some work to do.

"Then I guess we are...," Jim started but never finished as he and the DA saw that the brothers were gone, disappeared, and nothing new for the captain.

"Good? They do that a lot, it was simple with Fox around but now two of them. What about you Dent?" Jim asked but then saw the DA leaving the rooftop as well, taking the door, and was alone.

"And I am talking to myself...again," Jim groaned before putting his pipe out for the night and know a lot of work would come to him now.

This was the start of a fire coming, the captain just know it.
