Halloween Part one
The next morning the Flash family woke up to the scent of pumpkin spice filling the entirety of the house. Everyone went about their morning routine which included shower, brushing and flossing their teeth, and getting ready for the day… well in Kara's case putting in her eye contact and hearing aids. Kara chose to wear a black and orange striped long sleeve with black jeans and her black and white converse. Blond curls fell just below her shoulders, she grabbed her blue backpack and left her room and made her way down for breakfast.
Caitlin had gotten up earlier than everyone else like usual. She wore a dark blue tank top and black jeans, with the black boots that Frost insisted she wear today. She had been making pancakes along with eggs and bacon, as she was putting the bacon in the pan to fry she felt familiar strong arms wrap around her stomach and a peck on her cheek and Caitlin couldn't suppress the wide smile that appeared. "Someone seems happy." Barry just nodded his head that was resting on her shoulder.
"Well I had an eventful night." Barry started placing kisses down her neck. Caitlin tilted her head to allow him more access and had to suppress the moan threatening to escape.
"As cute as this is… gross.'' They both jumped and turned to see Alex standing at the entrance with a disgusted look on her face.
Alex put her bag down and took a seat at the island in the middle of the kitchen. "Alex, were you not going to dress up for school?" Caitlin furrowed her brows and turned her entire body to face her daughter looking at the black long-sleeve and blue jeans she was wearing.
"I was, then I realized that dressing up in school is stupid, it's totally distracting when I'm trying to do my work." Alex looked like she wanted to punch someone in the face, which isn't that far off. Kara walked in and sat next to Alex.
Caitlin placed two plates down, one for each of her daughters. No matter how many times she says it she can't believe that she has two daughters, and a loving boyfriend, she could get used to this. After serving her daughters she turned around to serve herself and Barry, but he had already served himself leaving just enough food for her. Caitlin served herself and sat next to Barry at the bar. She took a bite from her pancakes, then looked up to her boyfriend, then over to her two beautiful daughters, and felt truly happy.
Kara walked through the front doors of her school, after saying bye to her mother and aunt Frost, and promising to not stop for snacks after school. When she finally looked up from her phone she thought she walked into the wrong building, there were people dressed like different things, she recognized some of them but others she didn't, but nonetheless she walked to her home room to find Win.
Kara entered her class and spotted Win sitting in his seat. He was dressed oddly like her dad, which she found kind of weird. She smiled and sat down in her seat next to Win. "Hey Win." she looked at the metallic case that was on the floor next to him. 'Huh dad has a case like that.' she thought to herself.
"Hey Kara, you like my costume?" Win smiled waiting for approval from his best friend. She looked at him. He was wearing a blue button down shirt with a red sweatshirt over it, dark blue jeans and converse.
"Wow you look exactly how my dad does. Except I don't know what that is supposed to be?" Kara pointed at the case on the floor.
"It's a forensic kit, it has everything you need to collect samples at a crime scene." Win pulled it on top of his desk to show her what was in it, but Ms. Grant walked in to start class.
At lunch Kara and Win met in line to get their food. As usual Kara got one of everything that wasn't vegetables, her mom and dad have been trying to get her to eat her vegetables for a while. "Kara, why don't you eat vegetables?" Win asked, setting his tray down and taking his seat at what other people called the losers table.
"Because I don't like them." Kara started to eat the mountain of food that was in front of her.
"Well have you tried them?"
"Once, my mom gave me some…" Kara looked around like she was telling him a secret and lowered her voice. "...and between you and me I think she's trying to poison me." Win couldn't hold back the laugh that escaped his mouth.
Win looked at Kara's serious face and sobered up. "Oh… you're serious. Kara, it's just healthy food. It's good for you."
"You sound just like her." Kara crossed her arms and glared at him. And all he could do was laugh.
"Anyway, what are you dressing up as?" Win took a bite of his burger.
Kara smiled brightly and reached into her bag pulling out the comic book that her uncle Cisco let her borrow, and showed him the cover. "I'm going as her." She passed the Wonder woman comic over to her friend.
Win frowned his eyebrows. "I didn't peg you for being a Wonder Woman fan. That's cool though, where did you get a costume? I thought that they didn't make them."
"I asked my uncle Cisco to make me one yesterday." smiling brightly.
"Oh so it's going to be amazing." Win still couldn't believe that his best friend was related to his idles.
At Star Labs Barry was at the small table next to Caitlin's desk still trying to understand how to open Star Labs again to what it was supposed to be, making technological advancements, and groundbreaking medicine. He just had to understand it more, and get some more employees. On top of that he might have to move all of the Flash stuff somewhere else in the building, he'll have to look through the building with the team to figure that out.
Caitlin was in her lab working on one of her many projects, Barry decided to continue this tomorrow and maybe find someone to help him understand what the hell he's supposed to do. He got up, put away the papers, and headed to see if his girlfriend wanted to go for lunch.
Caitlin was looking through her microscope trying to understand Kara's DNA with the leftover blood sampls she had from when she first got here, when she felt arms wrap around her stomach and smiled. "You better be my boyfriend because my bad side can be very cold." she joked smiling like a girl back in high school.
Barry buried his face in the crook of her neck and inhaled the scent that has become all too familiar. "Well I have very clear memories to know that Frost cant stay mad at me." Caitlin turned on the stool to face the person responsible for interrupting her work.
"Did you need something?"
"Well I wanted to know if you'd like to have lunch with me." Barry tangled his fingers in hers, hoping to have a lunch date with the love of his life.
Caitlin looked at her watch, noticing what time it was. "Sure, let me finish this and we'll go"
They decide to head to jitters to get some coffee. "So I was thinking that I should find someone to help me with getting STAR Labs back up and running, you know minus the particle accelerator." Barry said, taking a sip of his coffee.
"That would be good, but have you thought about what we're gonna do about all the.." Caitlin looked around to make sure no one was listening, then lowered her voice. "...The Flash stuff."
Barry smiled and he has thought a lot about it. If it comes down to it they could use the hanger. "Well we could always use the hanger that we used during the dominator invasion, we havent done anything with it since last year…. You know when we had our little dait there, so no one would disturb us." Caitlin blushed and tried to hide behind her coffee mug remembering that long night.
"Well, I think that would be a good idea." Caitlin took a bite of Barry's pie that he was ignoring. Caitlin looked at the time on her phone to see that it was going to be three o'clock and they needed to be at the Lab before the girls got out of school since the school decided to let out an hour earlier than usual. "We better get going. We got to be at the lab when the girls get there. Oh don't forget that Kara's friend is coming to the lab tonight, so dont forget to hide your old suit."
They walked to the ally next to the building then Barry picked up Caitlin bridal style and sped his way to Star Labs. As they entered the cortex hand in hand smiling like idiots, they looked to see Iris talking with Wally, Caitlin's eyes glowed icy blue and Frost came out ready to fight. Barry stood in front of Frost clenching his Jaw. "Iris What are you doing here?" Barry asked
"Barry what's wrong?" Wally asked, clearly confused.
"What's wrong? Didn't I say Iris wasn't allowed here anymore?"
"I thought it was ok I mean you guys only got a divorce, i still don't understand why you won't talk to her anymore?" Wally asked.
"Wh-... she didn't tell you what happened, why I want nothing to do with her anymore?" Barry's voice getting louder.
"Barry, please I just want to talk. I miss my best friend." Iris stepped closer.
"No no no, you don't get to call me that, not after what you did" said Barry, Joe walked in with Alex and Kara right behind seeing the confrontation.
"Barry, can we please talk in private?" Iris asked, seeing the now gathering crowd.
"No, please leave my building. I have nothing to say to you." he took a deep breath trying to calm down and be civil.
Iris walked out clearly upset, and Wally just stood there still completely confused about what just happened. "What the hell was that for? Barry, she just wanted to talk to you." said Wally, getting angry.
"Wally, just please don't bring her here anymore." Barry raised his hands trying to get Wally to calm down.
"Why not? just tell me why you won't talk to my sister."
"Wally that's a complicated story, just please leave it alone." Barry for the life of him hoped that wally would just drop the subject, he looked over at Frost to see Caitlin had returned. He looked into her eyes asking for some help to convince Wally to just forget about it, Caitlin looked at him and in her eyes he knew that she was saying 'we need to tell him' Barry sighed.
"Wally, when you were with the legends… after we divorced I was lost and getting depressed… I wasn't taking care of myself, I didn't care what the hell happened to me as long as everyone I loved and the city was safe. Wally I was spiraling out of control and all Iris saw was an opportunity to get me back but I didn't want to because to me it would feel like i'd be going backwards, and at the time i remembered everything that happened to me in the speed force, but that is for when it's just you and me…" Barry looked at Joe, Alex and Kara, who were sitting and listening to their father. "...then me and Cait started dating, there were many times that she tried to sleep with me while I was dating Caitlin, she even went as far as convincing me that she was pregnant. Wally she caused a lot of problems here, she will always be family but I had to cut ties with her because I couldn't handle it." Barry finished and Wally looked conflicted and a bit disappointed in his sister, but he understood why Barry wanted nothing to do with her.
Kara and Alex looked at their dad and couldn't believe he wouldn't take care of himself, Alex on the other hand remembered when The Flash seemed to be everywhere all the time. They both made a silent vow to make sure that he knew he was loved and wasn't alone.
