A young man is brought to the world of Miraculous Ladybug by Master Fu to help Ladybug and her allies. But the twist is, there's a different kind of Butterfly Miraculous in the Miracle Box that's completely different from the Moth Miraculous. 13. The Bubbler Becomes Birthday Monarch

Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug, Cat Noir and Steel Butterfly.

Chapter 12: The Bubbler Becomes Birthday Monarch.

(Author's notes: In this chapter, Nino is still gonna be Akumatized into The Bubbler due to the fact that even though Steel Butterfly has averted Nino being barred from the Agreste Mansion by him simply trying to convince Gabriel to give Adrien a birthday party, Nino is still gonna be frustrated enough since he knows that his plan to "take care of business with Adrien's old man" was gonna go down the crapper. But of course, Hawk Moth is gonna be in for a large shock when he finds out about Adrien being given a birthday party from Gabriel's future prison cell.

Nextly, I know some of you were not expecting SB to destroy the Rabbit Miraculous in Alim Kubdel's possession in the ending of the Pixelator vs. Distortion chapter, but the thing is, even if Steel Butterfly showed and told Bunnyx about the consequences of her actions, she'll more than likely do those actions anyway because she doesn't want anything about her past or her future to be permanently changed. Even if it was for the greater good. Bunnyx is so hung up on keeping her past and her future intact to the point where she will proudly say to Past Ladybug out loud that the future Bunnyx comes from is much better for the primary dimension in the Quantic Multiverse. And if the im(perfect) fanfiction depicting Cat Blanc getting the Rabbit Miraculous was any indication, both Future Fluff – the future counterpart of the Rabbit Kwami – and Bunnyx firmly believe that the Quantic Universe/Quantic Multiverse should have only one timeline, not multiple timelines going all the way to infinity. Despite my own limited knowledge of time travel and the multiverse, I can confidentially say that Future Fluff and Bunnyx are sadly f****** delusional. That's not how time travel works and that's not how the multiverse is supposed to exist. Next to that, even if Bunnyx was made aware of the consequences of keeping Ladybug and Cat Noir in the dark about the Cat Blanc timeline and just who Future Hawk Moth was going to be, like I said, Bunnyx is still gonna do it anyway. But sadly, her tomboyish nature, her arrogance and her pride are all gonna be her downfall that could ultimately lead to the Order of the Guardians inflicting an ancient curse that prevents unworthy Miraculous users from ever using any Miraculous jewel again. And if they were to so much as touch a Miraculous jewel after being cursed, they would immediately feel unbearable pain similar to Darkseid's Agony Matrix from Justice League Unlimited, but twice as bad. In addition to that, if a cursed former Miraculous user tries to touch their former Miraculous jewel again, they'll be cursed with misfortune and all different kinds of bad days. Besides, like I've said a couple times before in my stories through my main OC characters, I don't believe in good luck or bad luck.

Lastly, at the end of this chapter, Steel Butterfly is gonna throw Adrien a nice enough birthday party that isn't big or small enough to the point where it won't attract the wrong attention, i.e. Gabriel. How will that happen, you ask? By simply having reprogrammed Nino's first Akumatized form, The Bubbler, into Birthday Monarch.

(Marinette Dupain-Cheng's bedroom, Paris, France, April 12th, 2015, third person POV...)

Marinette is sleeping soundly in her bed, having gone to bed at a decent hour the previous night.

Marinette seemed to be having a good dream if the smile on her face was any indication.

Suddenly, the alarm app on Marinette's cellphone wakes her up.

Marinette groggily turns off her alarm and carefully descends from her bed with Tikki shrugging off sleep as well.

Marinette yawns as she gets herself ready for the school day, which was coincidentally a Friday.

Marinette sends Adrien a telepathic, "Happy Birthday, Adrien."

Adrien telepathically replies, "Thanks, Marinette. I hope you got me something nice."

Marinette chuckled giddily in response as she mentally remarks outside of her telepathic power, "Oh, you have no idea how nice your scarf will be."

Meanwhile, in Adrien's bathroom, Adrien is brushing his teeth for the second time that morning.

Plagg comes up and says, "Happy Birthday, Adrien!"

Adrien smiles in response, unable to say anything while brushing his teeth without the risk of spilling toothpaste on his clothes.

Back in the Dupain-Cheng apartment, Marinette is walking down the stairs with Adrien's birthday present in hand while her mother is drinking some morning tea.

Sabine states, "Marinette, don't forget to clean your room after school today."

Marinette bemoans, "Mom! It's Friday, and I'm already doing something with Alya."

Sabine replies teasingly, "Fine, I'll go ahead and do it, but don't blame me if I come across any of your private stuff, like your e-mails, your diary—"

Marinette makes a nervous face and she replies quickly, "Okay! I'll do it, I'll do it."

Tikki struggles a bit to keep herself from laughing out loud because she found this interaction to be very funny.

Marinette walks up to her mother and kisses her on the cheek.

Then Marinette starts to leave.

Sabine calls out, "Have a nice day, sweetie, and wish Adrien a Happy Birthday from me and your father!"

Marinette replies as she closes the door, "I will!"

Sabine notices Tikki giving her a small smile before following her owner.

Sabine continues to drink her tea.

Meanwhile, at the Agreste Mansion, Adrien is eating breakfast alone at a big dining table.

Surprisingly, he looks a bit giddy.

Nathalie walks in holding a tablet with Adrien's schedule and says emotionlessly, "Here's your schedule, Adrien."

Adrien takes the tablet and replies, "Thanks, Nathalie. Um, did my father get back to you about my birthday party?"

Adrien remains stone-faced, knowing firsthand how to not get his hopes up, especially where his secret terrorist father was concerned.

Nathalie replies, "Well, um – he doesn't think it'll be a good idea."

Adrien remains stone-faced as he replies back sarcastically, "Of course. Where have I heard that one before?"

Nathalie states a tad somberly, "Happy Birthday, Adrien."

Nathalie leaves as she mentally remarks, "He really is starting to become more volatile. Gabriel had better not Akumatize his own son, just in case Adrien finds out about everything and starts planning on outright killing the man who sired him, even if Adrien understands his father's motives. But still... Whew. That was a close one. Adrien doesn't know about his father planning to Akumatize someone on Adrien's birthday."

Adrien covers up his scowl with the tablet as he silently whispers, "If he ruins my birthday by Akumatizing Nino, as Steel Butterfly surmised, he's so gonna get it."

Outside of the school, Adrien and Nino are talking.

Adrien got his present from Marinette a few minutes ago and he told her he loves it. He especially appreciated Marinette's parents taking the time to wish him a Happy Birthday.

As Nino blows some bubbles, he asks, "Dude, seriously? Has your dad always been such a downer? You'd think he'd at least remember what it was like to be young and want to party a little bit."

Adrien replies matter-of-factly, "Well, based on what my family therapist has told me, my dad is afraid of the past due to bad experiences from his childhood here at Francoise Dupont before meeting my mother and her sister – who is my aunt – and my dad is literally too hung up on finding a way to find my mother that he hides in our mansion like a butterfly afraid to come out of its cocoon. On top of that, my father only attended dinner parties with my mother before her disappearance, and even then, if my father tries to deny me a party, I won't hesitate to ask Steel Butterfly to throw me a small birthday party so as to not draw attention. BUT it's a dark secret, so you must not tell ANYONE within range of where Nathalie and my father might be eavesdropping."

Nino replies, "No problem, dude. My lips are sealed, but it's only a matter of time before someone catches on and the whole thing might spread like wildfire."

Adrien replies back, "Don't worry; at the slightest sign that someone might find out, Steel Butterfly will wipe your memory with amnesia dust."

Chloe comes up to Adrien and asks politely, "Adrien, is it your birthday today?"

Adrien asks in reply, "Yes it is. Why do you ask?"

Chloe replies, "I have a hard time keeping up with people's birthdays."

Chloe managed to wish Adrien a Happy Birthday and promised to get him a nice birthday present he might like.

Suddenly, the Agreste limousine arrives and Adrien says, "Gotta go. Photoshoot."

He gets into the limousine and the long car drives off.

Nino mutters to himself, "Looks like I've got some business to take care of with Adrien's old man."

Just then, Steel Butterfly's voice rings out soothingly in Nino's mind, "I wouldn't if I were you."

Nino looks around and whispers, "Who said that?"

Steel Butterfly's voice says again, "Gabriel Agreste is a very strict and controlling old geezer, Nino. Yes, I know who you are through my ability to identify people by looking into their memories and their very souls."

Looking around to make sure that nobody was looking or listening, which there wasn't, Nino asks, "Dude, why do you think me taking care of business with Adrien's old man is a bad idea?"

Steel Butterfly answers the question somewhat thoroughly, "Gabriel Agreste is very stubborn in the sense that he doesn't entertain the idea of Adrien having a birthday party, he always makes rash decisions to keep Adrien safe without taking Adrien's own opinion or feelings into consideration such as barring any of his friends from entering the Agreste Mansion again, and Gabriel is paranoid in the sense that he always looks at the negatives of certain subjects such as birthday parties. Therefore, Gabriel will NEVER let Adrien have a birthday party, not even if Emilie Agreste were to suddenly organize one behind his back if she were still around. But don't tell Adrien I said that."

Nino assures in reply, "Don't worry, dude, my lips are sealed."

Meanwhile, at the Agreste Mansion, Nathalie sits down at her desk, thankful that she remembered to get Adrien a birthday present from his father ahead of time... something that threw Steel Butterfly's plan out the window. And he was not happy about it at all, but not to the point where Hawk Moth would detect Miguel's frustration and anger.

The present that Nathalie got for Adrien on her own behalf was nothing more than a printed photo of Steel Butterfly petting Cat Noir like if he was an actual cat. But what Nathalie got for Adrien on Gabriel's behalf was a nice black and white designer's hooded jacket.

Meanwhile, Alya managed to get Adrien's birthday present from her delivered to the Agreste Mansion.

And wouldn't you know it, but it was nothing more than an extensively detailed Dragon Butterfly costume Marinette had made with the help of her "secret assistants," aka Marinette's secret batch of perfected flawless clones.

The extensively detailed replica of Dragon Butterfly's suit of armor also had the same wings that he had in his power-up transformations: a combination of angelic white feathered bird wings, red-brownish demonic bat wings, purplish-pink butterfly wings, and multi-colored dragon wings.

But what nobody noticed during the Stormy Weather incident from thereon is that the dragon aesthetic to Dragon Butterfly's wings shared design elements of different types of dragon wings from any character in fiction that was either a dragon like Saphira from Eragon, had the ability to transform into a dragon like the Beast Wars Transmetal 2 Megatron, the Last Knight Dragonstorm, and the Demon Shredder/Tengu Shredder and the Ninja Tribunal, or simply had dragon wings without any additional parts of dragon physiology.

As she had previously put Adrien's present into a fitting mannequin, Nathalie looks upon the Dragon Butterfly costume with a look of interest combined with a small scowl, thus hinting that she will fulfill part of her destiny as Catalyst on Heroes' Day.

Then, Gabriel asks on the intercom, "Who was that, Nathalie?"

Nathalie replies, "One of Adrien's friends. She was delivering a gift for his birthday."

Gabriel asks, "Did you remember to buy him a present from me?"

Nathalie replies emotionlessly, "Yes, I did. I had just came back from getting his present, as a matter of fact."

Gabriel states in a pleased tone, "Excellent work, Nathalie. I'll be along in a few minutes."

The intercom clicks off.

Meanwhile, Gabriel detects Nino's frustration over Adrien not being allowed to have a birthday party.

Gabriel immediately becomes Hawk Moth, and his window opens as he says, "Desperate to help his friend, but feeling powerless. How frustrating! It won't be long before frustration leads to anger!"

Hawk Moth creates another Akuma and finishes, "Fly away, my little Akuma, and Akumatize him! Hopefully, Steel Butterfly won't be there to stop you!"

Oh, but Hawk Moth was in for a big surprise, and he was never gonna be prepared for it in the foreseeable future.

The Akuma flies towards Nino at the Place des Vosges.

The Akuma eventually flies into the park and merges with Nino's bubble wand.

Nino's eyes are surrounded by the all-too familiar butterfly symbol as Hawk Moth monologues, "Hawk Moth is my name, and Bubbler is now yours. I will help you with all these horrid adults and all you have to do in exchange is help me get something from Ladybug, Cat Noir, Steel Butterfly, Lion Hunter, Rhinocharge, Blueclaw, Corvo and Cat Knight. Do we have a deal?"

Nino Lahiffe/The Bubbler replies, "Yes, Hawk Moth."

Nino becomes The Bubbler, completely unaware that Steel Butterfly had placed several news filming camera drones across the city to prepare all of Paris to watch him reprogram The Bubbler into Birthday Monarch.

Bubbler flies onto a rooftop and crouches as he gets a good look at his desired targets.

Bubbler declares to himself, "No more adults means total freedom! This is SOOO sweet!"

Bubbler takes out his bubble sword and flies over Paris, leaving a trail of purple bubbles behind him wherever he goes.

However, before the bubbles can make impact with their targets, multiple Steel Butterfly clones pop the bubbles as quickly as possible while laughing maniacally.

Bubbler sees what's going on and says, "Good. More adults for me to dispose of."

However, as the world plays out in slow motion, Steel Butterfly releases a Tenshi and it merges with Bubbler's bubble sword.

As the world goes back to normal, Bubbler feels a massive headache from the Tenshi and Akuma fighting for control over Bubbler.

Hawk Moth asks demandingly and in pain, "AAAGGGHHH! What is this?! The pain is excruciating!"

Steel Butterfly says through Bubbler as he's one hundred percent reprogrammed in under ten seconds, "The Bubbler's been permanently disconnected, Hawk Moth! Say hello to Birthday Monarch!"

Bubbler transforms into an armored, butterfly-themed opposite of himself with different aspects of his appearance related to birthdays.

Birthday Monarch and Steel Butterfly laugh maniacally as Hawk Moth's Akuma is purified and is sent on its way to Steel Butterfly's lair without Hawk Moth able to detect it.

Hawk Moth is flabbergasted as he asks demandingly, "How is that possible?! How did that wretched excuse of a butterfly manage to reprogram my newest villain?! Oh, this isn't over yet! I'll be victorious sooner or later!"

The window to Hawk Moth's lair closes yet again, engulfing Hawk Moth's lair in darkness once again.

Hawk Moth detransforms and sets out to have lunch with Adrien, much to Adrien's surprise.

After Adrien's surprisingly great birthday lunch, Steel Butterfly secretly whisks the young model away to the building Miguel Guevara lives in – which coincidentally houses Steel Butterfly's booby-trapped lair – and shows Adrien just what he had hoped for: a birthday party.

But Steel Butterfly had to make sure that it was small enough to not attract the wrong kind of attention, i.e. Gabriel and the Parisian Police Department. Part of that involved using a perfected flawless Adrien clone.

Steel Butterfly smugly and proudly explained that he had Birthday Monarch help him with the entire setup.

For Adrien, he could easily see for himself that there was different kinds of food here: cheeseburgers with optional dairy-free cheeses, bacon cheeseburgers, boneless brisket, boneless steak, boneless grilled chicken breasts, cooked vegetable platters, fruit kebabs, fruit salads, grilled cheese sandwiches, ham and cheese sandwiches, pastrami and cheese sandwiches, ham, salami and cheese sandwiches, turkey and cheese sandwiches, boneless ribs, boneless pork chops, biscuits, French fries, dark chocolate candies, chocolate chip cookies without nuts, oatmeal raisin cookies, Oreo cookies, peanut butter cookies, potato crisps, homemade pizzas, homemade brown rice, homemade yellow rice, slices of spam, corned beef, Reuben sandwiches, roast beef sandwiches, Cuban sandwiches, BLT sandwiches with some ingredients changed in case of allergies and religious beliefs about certain foods, Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, club sandwiches, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, double chocolate chip pancakes for dessert, different ice cream flavors, and baked macaroni and cheese.

There was even different types of cake in separate slices for Adrien to try and for everyone to have a piece of cake.

There were also traditional birthday party games for teenagers, but Miguel didn't get in the way if Adrien was gonna play "Pin the tail on the donkey."

As for everyone enjoying the food, Marinette stayed away from the meat options since she was still a vegan, and Miguel stayed away from the junk food options since he hates junk food and is on a strict, nutritional diet.

About an hour and a half passes and the small impromptu birthday party kicks off with some slow dancing, and Marinette and Adrien experienced their first romantical kiss.

In the end, nobody outside of the Parisian Heroes and the Akuma Class had known about Adrien's birthday party, and Adrien was fully satisfied.

Of course, since there was still so much food leftover, Miguel had no choice but to eat it all in super speed, even the junk food he hated.

But thankfully enough for the Heroes of Paris and for Adrien in particular, their little patrol throughout the city was more than capable of helping them burn off the excessive calories.

Everybody was happy, except for Hawk Moth.

Eventually, Steel Butterfly detenshized Birthday Monarch and sent him on his way through usage of time travel by sending a normal Nino Lahiffe home just five minutes before he was reprogrammed without being seen by anyone.

The next day, Adrien tried on his Dragon Butterfly costume, and got used to the feeling of it to the point where he decided to dress up as Dragon Butterfly for Halloween.

The End.

(Author's notes: Yep, The Bubbler was reprogrammed into Birthday Monarch. The reason why I did this is because I've been neglecting Steel Butterfly's ability to reprogram Akumatized villains for too long.

Additionally, in the next chapter, Roger Raincomprix will still be Akumatized into Rogercop, but this time, it'll be different. At the same time, like I said before, Rogercop will be forced to contend with a Tenshized champion replica of RoboCop. But that doesn't necessarily mean that this will automatically become a crossover, and it certainly doesn't mean I'm making a copyright infrigment.
