Chapter 19: Guitar Villain vs. Guitar Hero.

(Author's notes: In this chapter, Steel Butterfly will be discreetly foreshadowing his plan to have Bob Roth stuck in deep doo-doo for some of his most atrocious actions. But what will the signs be? We'll find out.

Also, in preparation for what's supposed to be the Silencer chapter, Bob Roth in my story will be portrayed as an antagonistic nice guy at first, only to revert back to what he was in the Silencer episode.

(Quantic Universe Earth 139, Paris, France, May 1st, 2015, third person POV...)

At the Grand Paris Hotel, Jagged Stone is performing a song on his guitar for Bob Roth and Penny Rolling to see who's gonna win the musical contest hosted by Bob himself.

Of course, Bob is planning on getting Jagged to do a duet with his son, XY.

An incognito Steel Butterfly clone was in the shadows, scowling as he remembers what the real Steel Butterfly told him about Bob Roth's behavior both in the original timeline and in the current one in the near-future.

Jagged Stone finishes the final lyrics as he sings, "Mah Miraculous!"

Penny applauds her boss while Bob Roth watches with crossed arms and an indifferent expression on his face.

Jagged asks Bob, "So, what do you think of the first single of my new album? Can you feel it, Bob? Isn't it killer?"

Bob replies, "Not bad, Jagged, not bad at all. But if you really want to be making something killer, let's talk about this duet with Mr. XY."

Jagged replies back, "No way. He's not a rock star, he's a baby! I bet he doesn't even shave yet."

Bob points out, "Well, this "'baby"' just pushed you out of the number one sales spot."

Jagged replies, "And? That doesn't even make him a true musician like me. Penny thinks everything I'm doing is rock star material. She thinks I'm killer with my music."

Bob points out again, "Penny might be your agent, Jagged, but I'm your real boss. Listen, the bottom line is that Bob Roth Records cannot afford to be number two in music album copy sales! Or represent a number two rock star! Get real, Jagged! You're going to have to modernize your music. Change the way you look. Get a whole new style!"

Jagged retorts, "You want to talk about real, Bob? I'm a genuine rock 'n' roller, not some pop star in diapers. I'm a real artist. With real talent! Even my hair is real. And that's what people love about me. (turns to Fang) Isn't that right, Fang? (Fang briefly nods) Yeah. (Turns back to Bob) And the artwork you came up with for my album is a waste of my time! Seriously, Bob, what is this trash? It looks like a perfume ad!"

Bob points a finger at Jagged's chest and replies, "And that's what people want these days!"

Jagged retorts, "Well, I don't. My album covers are raw to the bone, exuding the smell of sweat and leather!"

Bob advises in a warning tone, "You do know, do you not, that if your next album doesn't get rated #1 on the charts, it'll literally be the last one you ever do with Bob Roth Records?"

Jagged retorts again, "In that case, I'd rather put out nothing at all rather than sing some pathetic duet with a baby-faced nobody."

Penny interjects, "Bob, Jagged and I had an idea. Its concept is modern, but it also respects Jagged's own... rugged style."

Jagged takes his Eiffel Tower glasses off and explains, "The schoolgirl who made me these Eiffel Tower glasses has some real talent. She totally gets my style. She's going to design the cover of my new album."

Bob analyzes the glasses and asks, "A schoolgirl? Really?"

Penny replies, "Yes. You see? That's just it. She's the same age as the desired target audience." She holds out a piece of paper and finishes, "Here's her address."

Bob folds his arms and growls, only for Fang to dangerously growl in response.

Bob jumps away in alarm, takes the paper and begins leaving the room as he replies, "Okay! But just think about that duet with XY!"

Jagged replies, "I will! Find that girl, Bob!"

Nobody notices the Steel Butterfly clone leaving the room without being seen or heard by anyone, including Fang.

Meanwhile, at the Dupain-Cheng bakery, Bob Roth is talking with Marinette in front of her parents.

Bob asks, "So... are you interested?"

Marinette replies, "Wait, wait, wait. Let me get this straight. You want me to design the album cover for Jagged Stone? My all-time favorite singer?!"

Bob replies a little cheerfully, "That's right! Requested by Jagged Stone himself." He pulls out an XY album and continues, "I brought a few visuals so that way, you can get a sense of what we're going for."

Marinette looks at the album design and states, "This doesn't seem like Jagged Stone material. It's more like... a perfume ad!"

Bob replies, "I know, but this is the direction of his new image. More modern, current!"

Marinette replies back, "...really? Wow. Well, I'll see what I can do in the limited time we have respectively."

Bob replies, "Great! And one last thing, Marinette. We're in a bit of a hurry! We need your proposal at the end of the day. You think you're up to it?"

Marinette looks at her parents as they nod reassuringly.

Marinette replies, "Yeah! Okay!"

Bob leaves the bakery and states, "Splendid! See you later, then!"

As Bob leaves, Tom says to Marinette, "Wow! My daughter, famous album cover designer. You're going to kill it! Marinette style. Boo-yah!"

Tom and Marinette high five, and the three Dupain-Chengs share a group hug.

In Marinette's room, Marinette is drawing an album cover design on her tablet while listening to XY's music, as Tikki watches.

Marinette groans, covers her ears, and turns off the music.

Marinette bemoans, "Oh, why does Jagged Stone want to change his style? XY's music is so cold, lifeless, repetitive and mundane! The total opposite of Jagged himself. And what I've just done here is... ugh... so not my style either."

Tikki asks, "So, why are you doing it then?"

Marinette replies, "Because it's what I was asked to do."

Tikki points out, "Maybe you should follow your gut feeling. Do something that's really you!"

Marinette retorts matter-of-factly, "But you heard what Mr. Roth said, and I quote, (imitates Bob Roth) "'This is what's selling these days."

Tikki states in response, "Yeah, but... Jagged Stone wanted you because of your style!"

Marinette bemoans, "Augh, the pressure's too much! I can't deal with it!"

Tikki retorts, "Marinette Dupain-Cheng, superhero of France, defender of the innocent, fighter of all the rights of humankind, can't deal with the pressure?"

Steel Butterfly instantly teleports into Marinette's room.

Steel Butterfly states before any questions could be asked, "Jagged Stone changing his style wasn't his own choice to make; he was being pressured because his latest album is charted at number 2. And Bob Roth said that if Jagged can't get his latest album cover by the end of the day, especially because he doesn't want to do a duet with XY, then Jagged's new album would be the last one he ever did with Bob Roth Records. Especially if Jagged's new album doesn't rank in at number one today."

Marinette and Tikki look at each other in shock before looking back at their leader.

Marinette turns XY's music back on and resumes drawing while Tikki watches Steel Butterfly teleport out of the room and fly off to rendezvous with his newest Tenshized champion soon to come.

Thankfully, Marinette had been given the go-ahead to draw an album cover that represents both of the artists' styles.

At the Grand Paris Hotel, Jagged is looking over the album cover meticulously.

Jagged sees the artistic style that Marinette did – even though nobody was supposed to know about Marinette traveling back and forth in time to capture the artistic styles needed.

Jagged states, "Well, this ain't nothing special, but you got the job done right, Marinette. Bob, you cannot comprehend how thankful I am that Marinette managed to put my style and XY's style together to make something totally rock 'n' roll!"

Of course, nobody except for Steel Butterfly could tell that Jagged was somewhat lying.

Later on, in Jagged's hotel room, Jagged is on his stone tablet watching Nadia Chamack interviewing XY.

XY asks in the interview, "Why am I at number one? That's simple. It's not just about music; it's also about technology. This computer I have is programmed to produce music and lyrics people will like. It's a guaranteed success."

XY takes a sip from his drink.

Jagged puts his hand on his face, growls in annoyance, and glares at the tablet.

Nadia Chamack then asks, "You knocked Jagged Stone off the #1 spot. What do you think of him?"

XY gets up and puts his empty drink in the provided trash can before returning to his seat and answering, "Bleah! Jagged Stone, the hero of rock 'n' roll? Try '"Ragged Stone."' That guy's old school, a has-been. His guitar solo is so ten minutes ago."

Jagged asks in an enraged tone, "Me? Old-school? A has-been?!"

XY continues, "He's had his career, but it's all over now. He's never gonna be able to make it to number one, not while XY is here."

Jagged snarls, "Why, you little perfume ad!"

XY continues further, "My music, on the other hand, is killer."

Jagged snarls again, "He's stealing my catchphrases!"

Nadia then advises, "Tonight, Mr. XY will be giving a special one-time concert from the top of the Eiffel Tower, to celebrate his album's success, and to thank his awesome fans."

The tablet screen then shows a crowd of XY fans cheering for him. XY is then shown standing in front of his bodyguards.

XY finishes what he was saying, "Hey, Ragged, if you want to know what today's music sounds like, then come on down to my concert." Jagged claws the tablet in fury as XY finally finishes, "I'll reserve you a front-row seat for you, old man, you know... just in case your hearing is going."

Jagged finally snaps as he bellows, "He can't talk about me like that! This guy's a big, fat insult to rock 'n' roll... and to me!"

Jagged breaks the glass of the tablet in pure fury, completely destroying the one of the most expensive pieces of electronic technology. Jagged tosses the now useless tablet to Fang, and the crocodile eats it whole before going to sleep. And Jagged starts to angrily play his guitar.

Meanwhile, in Hawk Moth's lair, the window opens as Hawk Moth senses Jagged's frustration and anger.

Hawk Moth remarks, "I feel a disharmonious soul, an angry discord. Ideal prey for my evil Akumas."

Hawk Moth turns a butterfly into an Akuma and sends it on its way.

Hawk Moth states, "Go find that Jagged Stone, and rock his world!"

The Akuma makes its way to the Grand Paris Hotel.

The Akuma flies into the hotel.

Fang tries to bite it, but it passes by and infects Jagged's guitar.

Jagged looks ahead as the light mask appears on his face.

Hawk Moth monologues, "Guitar Villain, I am Hawk Moth. I'm giving you and your vicious crocodile the power to show the whole world that you are the number one rocker! Just make sure you get me Steel Butterfly, Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses in return."

Jagged/Guitar Villain replies, "Yeah! Let's rock!"

Jagged begins to transform into Guitar Villain and his crocodile Fang begins to transform into a dragon.

Meanwhile, outside the Grand Paris Hotel, Marinette is walking outside while thinking hard about how well she did to the point where Jagged Stone AND Bob Roth praised her for her work.

Suddenly, Adrien calls out, "Hey, Marinette! Hey!"

Marinette replies, "Hi, Adrien! How are you?"

Adrien replies back, "I'm doing great, thank you very much."

Chloe marches out the hotel doors and puts her left hand on Marinette's shoulder, catching her attention.

Chloe states, "I can literally see for myself that you and Adrien love each other with a passion, Marinette."

Marinette and Adrien's jaws slacked in shock.

Chloe then adds, "But don't worry; your secret is safe with me. Treat him with the utmost respect and care, Marinette. 'Because you never know when you might need Adrien in your toughest days."

Chloe then hugs Marinette, taking her, Adrien and Gustavo by surprise.

Marinette awkwardly hugs Chloe back.

Chloe breaks the hug and heads over to Adrien, minding his personal space.

Chloe then says, "Adrien, I got a nice surprise for you. I know you're a fan of Jagged Stone."

Adrien replies, "Well, that's actually true; I am a fan of Jagged Stone."

Chloe then explains, "Sooo, I got you arranged for a private meeting with your favorite star. He's staying right here in Daddy's hotel! Am I one of the best friends you could ever ask for in this current timeline?"

Chloe and Adrien head inside the hotel, and Marinette goes on her way to the bakery.

Marinette knew thanks to Steel Butterfly that even though Chloe has been successfully changed into the exact opposite of who she was in the original timeline, it's only a matter of time before she relapses.

And even if she doesn't relapse, something else might happen, and Steel Butterfly doesn't know about what that might be.

In the Grand Paris Hotel, Chloe and Adrien are waiting for the elevator.

Chloe then says, "Anyway, you and I both like the same kind of music, Adrien. Isn't it awesome that we discovered something in common?"

Adrien replies, "I thought you liked XY."

Chloe replies back, "Actually, no, I don't. Even before he trashed Jagged Stone during an interview a few minutes ago."

Off to the side, Bob Roth is doing an interview about his plans for both Jagged Stone and XY, never suspecting what really happened in Guitar Villain's room.

Bob starts to say, "A duet with Mr. XY will show everyone that Jagged Stone—"

But Bob is rudely interrupted by a roar from Fang, who has been shown to have transformed into a dragon.

Guitar Villain shows up and says, "From now on, you can call me Guitar Villain. I'll never do a duet with Mr. XY! In fact, soon enough, there won't even be a Mr. XY! Rockin' Riff, baby!"

Guitar Villain fires purple musical energy from his guitar at both Bob and the interviewer, causing them to start dancing like they were at a concert.

And an invisible Steel Butterfly remarked silently that Bob and the interviewer looked really ridiculous dancing like what he was seeing.

Guitar Villain then states, "Soon, there'll be nothing but fans of Guitar Villain, the one and only rocker on the entire planet."

In his lair, Hawk Moth remarks, "Such symphony to my ears. It won't be long before Steel Butterfly, Ladybug and Cat Noir show up to meet their doom!"

In the hotel, Chloe gets inside the elevator and watches horrified as the doors close between her and Adrien before she could pull him in.

Adrien runs towards Guitar Villain and hides behind a flowerpot.

As he leaves the hotel, Guitar Villain calls out, "Yeah! Guitar Villain! Wooh!"

Adrien calls out, "Plagg, Claws Out!"

Adrien becomes Cat Noir.

Meanwhile, Steel Butterfly sends out a Tenshi and says, "Fly away, my little Tenshi, and find me a true Guitar Hero to rock the world!"

The Tenshi finds a man by the name of Andreas Archer, and merges with his acoustic guitar.

Steel Butterfly says, "Guitar Hero, I am Steel Butterfly. I'm granting you the power to compete with Hawk Moth's champion to see who's gonna face the music. Shall we get on with the show?"

Andreas/Guitar Hero replies, "You got it! Rock And Roll!"

Andreas transforms into Guitar Hero, an armored opposite of Guitar Villain in opposite colors.

Guitar Hero takes flight thanks to his guitar-themed wings and flies off to the Grand Paris Hotel.

Meanwhile, Fang flies out of the hotel past the doorman and Guitar Villain follows behind him.

Guitar Villain says again, "Rockin' Riff, baby!"

Guitar Villain's guitar fires purple energy at the doorman, causing him to start dancing.

Eventually, Guitar Villain continues to do the same to several cars, pigeons and people, including Xaiver Ramier.

Guitar Villain calls out again, "Rockin' Riff, baby!"

Guitar Villain shoots more purple energy at a toddler and his mother, causing them to start dancing.

Steel Butterfly shows up on the Fontaine du Palmier and bursts out laughing hysterically.

Turning around to face the butterfly hero, Guitar Villain demands, "What's so funny, Butterfly Man?!"

Steel Butterfly composes himself for a bit before answering, "All those people, cars and pigeons look ABSOLUTELY ridiculous dancing like that! IT'S SO HYSTERICAL! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Cat Noir shows up and calls out, "Hey, Jagged! C'mon! Why don't you try to rock my world?"

Guitar Villain replies, "The name's Guitar Villain, pussycat! Awesome Solo!"

Guitar Villain fires orange energy from his guitar at the two heroes, only for them to jump off the fountain as the energy knocks it down.

Steel Butterfly whistles loudly and Guitar Hero shows up with his own sonic guitar in hand.

Guitar Villain calls out, "So un-rock 'n' roll of you to impersonate me in the wrong colors!"

Guitar Hero replies, "Guitar Hero's the name, and I'm gonna rock your world with a little trick from one of my favorite cartoons."

Guitar Hero plays his sonic guitar and it emits the same sounds as a hypnotic keytar from a popular kids' cartoon.

(Quick author's note: Yes, I'm referencing the Human Error episodes from Transformers Animated. Sue me.)

Fang flies overhead and breathes a cloud of green fire, only for Steel Butterfly to block it with his shield.

Steel Butterfly calls out, "Steel Butterfly, power up! Dragon Butterfly mode!"

Steel Butterfly becomes Dragon Butterfly and takes flight.

Dragon Butterfly opens his hands and fires balls of ice at Fang.

The ice balls make impact, but Fang remains unfrozen.

Dragon Butterfly puts his hands together and fires a freeze ray from his palms, slowly freezing Fang.

Fang breathes a hot enough cloud of fire to thaw himself.

Dragon Butterfly growls and shouts, "DRAGON BUTTERFLY, DRAGON MODE!"

Dragon Butterfly assumes his dragon mode and unleashes a sonic roar to assimilate his dominance.

Unfortunately, Fang finds out he's on the receiving end of Dragon Butterfly's sonic roar and howls in pain, having nearly become deaf.

Downstairs, everyone covered their ears when they heard Dragon Butterfly's sonic roar.

Fang lands to recover and Guitar Villain calls out, "Totally un-rock 'n' roll of you! You're a pathetic excuse for a dragon!"

In response to what Guitar Villain had to say, Dragon Butterfly snarls in warning while baring his saber-fanged teeth in a threatening manner.

Gulping, Guitar Villain fires his Awesome Solo attack at Dragon Butterfly, only for Dragon Butterfly to not be affected due to his godlike invulnerability in dragon mode.

Guitar Villain shouts in shock, "You're invulnerable?! That's impossible!"

Dragon Butterfly roars again, and this time, the dancing victims are freed from Guitar Villain's control.

Everyone flees from the battle site.

Meanwhile, Marinette is walking and she overhears the fight from a block behind her.

She manages to spot Dragon Butterfly's dragon mode.

Remembering her leader has the ability to transform into a dragon, Marinette asks, "Do you see what I see, Tikki?!"

Tikki answers, "If you see a giant armored dragon, then yes I do. I always wondered what kind of dragon that was."

Marinette asks again, "Have you already forgotten that Dragon Butterfly can transform into THAT kind of giant armored dragon?"

Eyes widened in realization, Tikki face palms as she bemoans, "I can't believe I forgot."

Marinette hides behind a tree and calls out, "I've got to transform! Tikki, Spots On!"

Marinette becomes Ladybug.

Cat Noir is hit by a car thrown by one of Guitar Villain's blasts, and Guitar Hero blasts Guitar Villain with a sonic blast.

Slightly stumbling because of the effects of the blast, Guitar Villain shouts, "Awesome Solo!"

Guitar Villain fires his Awesome Solo energy at Guitar Hero and the two sonic guitars overlap against each other, causing the sound waves to make a loud warbling feedback sound as the two instruments try to overpower each other.

Guitar Hero fires a concussion blast at Guitar Villain while saying, "Time to change your tune, Guitar Villain. Time for Operation: Face The Music."

Guitar Hero runs over to his villain counterpart and jumps high into the air, swinging his guitar at Guitar Villain's face, stunning him.

Guitar Hero continues to hit Guitar Villain in the face with his guitar, only managing to stun him long enough to do what Dragon Butterfly told him to.

Guitar Hero tries the old hypnotic keytar trick.

Imitating a specific version of Soundwave for the occasion, Guitar Hero partially quotes, "Akuma villains, obey. Guitar Hero is your master. Akuma villains, obey."

Guitar Villain quickly recovers, and he manages to cover his ears and shout, "BLAH BLAH BLAH! CAN'T HEAR YOU! BLAH BLAH BLADITTY BLAH BLAH!"

Guitar Hero amplifies the volume and Guitar Villain immediately lowers his hands and his eyes turn bright red to signify he's been successfully hypnotized.

Guitar Hero then states in his normal voice, "Surrender your guitar."

Guitar Villain surrenders his guitar and Dragon Butterfly stomps on it.

Ladybug slides open her yoyo and remarks, "Music show's over, little Akuma. Time to deakumatize!" She purifies the Akuma and continues, "Rock 'n' Roll! Bye-bye, little butterfly. Miraculous Ladybug!"

The Miraculous Ladybug fixes the damage done by Guitar Villain, and Guitar Villain is transformed back into Jagged Stone while Dragon-Fang transforms back into Fang the crocodile.

Ladybug and Cat Noir do their fist-bump, and Dragon Butterfly growls softly as he transforms back into his human form and back into his normal Steel Butterfly form.

Steel Butterfly takes off in flight without a word.

Ladybug and Cat Noir look at each other in confusion.

In Hawk Moth's lair, Hawk Moth gets to his knees in anger and growls, "Dahhh! Don't do your victory dances just yet, because one day, I'll play you my favorite music: the anthem of your defeat, Steel Butterfly, Ladybug and Cat Noir!"

The window closes.

Meanwhile, Marinette and Miguel are listening to Jagged Stone's new solo.

Marinette then asks, "Hey, how come you left the battle without even saying goodbye?"

Miguel sighs in response as he answers, "Hhhaaa. Because I felt like you guys needed to handle this on your own."

Marinette hugs Miguel in response, causing him to hug her back.

Suddenly, the news on TVi shows up on Marinette's computer as Nadia states, "In today's headlines, Jagged Stone's new album hit the charts at number one, hitting XY off his throne. Welcome back, king of rock 'n' roll!"

Marinette and Miguel dance in victory while listening to The Twist.

At Francoise Dupont the next day, Marinette eventually autographs Adrien's copy of Jagged's new album cover.

And soon, Marinette and Adrien's relationship allowed them to bond even more, partially thanks to their respective love for Jagged Stone's music.

(Author's notes: There you have it, folks. A showdown between Guitar Villain and Guitar Hero.

In the next chapter, we shall see precisely how Juleka Couffaine's Akumatization into Reflekta will be averted. But since all of you already know about Ms. Bustier and Chloe Bourgeois turning over a new leaf in the Origins chapter, I believe that it's all too obvious how Juleka's Akumatization will be averted.
