A Teddy for my Teddy
Harry was an attentive and generous godfather.
Therefore, when the autumn muggle carnival came to town, Harry didn't think twice about inviting Teddy to come along with him, Ginny, and their own young children. As "half-bloods," Harry wanted them all to be as comfortable with the other side of their heritage as they were with their magical one.
The children had a great day. They ate ice cream, rode the rides, and played all the games. In fact, they did so much, so quickly, that it didn't take long for the little Potters to become completely exhausted and in need of some naps. Therefore, Ginny found a private place to apparate with her children back to their home and beds.
However, Teddy…who was quite a bit older than his god-brothers and sister…wanted to stay. It was a request that Harry indulged because he knew that the young man would start Hogwarts the following year and be unable to return with them to the carnival again.
Consequently, the two of them had a blast as they continued to explore and play. Then, on the very last game, Harry persevered through several failures…and consequent temptations to use magic…until he was finally able to shoot down all of the ducks in the row.
"Here you go…a teddy for my Teddy!" he proudly told the boy he loved like another son as he presented the little prize bear to him.
At that moment, he had no way of knowing that the bear would be going to Hogwarts with the young man on the following September…and for every year after that, as well. Although it usually stayed in Teddy's trunk, it served as a reminder that someone loved him and would always be there for him…no matter what!
