When Hermione Granger-Weasley was chosen as the new Minister of Magic, she asked her brother-in-law for a favor that left George in tears…but with a stronger respect for the woman than he had felt before. That was certainly saying something because, as a close friend, he knew about almost every impressive thing the woman had done since she was just an eleven-year-old know-it-all at Hogwarts.
...
When the time came for Hermione's first public address to the British Wizarding community to formally accept the appointment…which she chose to do at the site of the Battle of Hogwarts rather than the traditional location in the Ministry atrium…her speech took an unexpectedly emotional turn. When George deemed it to be the right moment, he again set off the combination of fireworks and spells that he had developed years earlier. They erupted in the sky to form the faces of those who had been lost during the struggles of those dark times.
After the rest had faded away, Fred's image still lingered above, and Hermione spoke in a tone that matched her tear-filled eyes. "It is because of their sacrifices, that we have made it to this moment," the new muggleborn Minister earnestly announced to the crowd, those who were listening from a distance on the wireless, and those who would read about it in a special evening edition of the Daily Prophet. "Therefore, this is really their achievement, not mine."
The resulting cheers from the crowd were wet with sobs…but deafening, nonetheless.
Some of Minister Granger-Weasley's harshest pureblood critics later claimed that it was all merely a cheap publicity stunt to gain sympathy. However, those who had actually been there on that fateful day knew that she told the absolute truth…and loved her all the more for it!
