Dracula opens the door of an empty room and quickly Johnny enters pulling Helena with him.
"Please don't kill me, I'm so young!" Johnny cried, banging on the window to try to escape, while Dracula slunk towards them with a glare on his face. "I have so many places I want to see. I got tickets to a six day Matthew Band concert."
Helena lets go of Johnny and folded her arms, watching the scene funny, although she knew she shouldn't, she hoped that Dracula was like her mother who did not drink blood and used a substitute that did not notice the difference. Anyway she was ready to use her powers if Dracula attacks them.
"Ohh, I'm getting out of here." Johnny opened a cellar door and quickly jumped down through it.
A sudden, loud roar shook the whole room with bones thrown out. Johnny screamed and sprinted back out, zooming towards the bed and climbed up the red drapes.
"What was that?" Helena asked a little frightened.
"Shut up already. It's impossible to think with all your noise." Dracula approaches the door, he smiled and spoke politely. "Sorry Glen, go back to sleep." He shut the trap door and slunk towards the bed while Glen roared in response, causing the room shake again. "I'm more surprised that you're not scared." look at Helena.
Helena opens her eyes, she knew that Dracula was right, she should be acting like Johnny, or worse. She had to fix that or they might be suspicious.
"Of course I'm scared." Helena said quickly, pretending to be shaking and clinging to the wall. "Please do not hurt me."
Helena hopes it works, Dracula just rolls his eyes annoyed.
"Wait, aren't you gonna suck my blood?" Johnny asked, still clinging off a drape from the bed.
"Ugh! Classic human paranoia. Human blood is so fatty and you never know where it's been." Dracula sighed before he sat down, gripping his head in frustration.
"So, Dracula doesn't drink blood?" Johnny carefully climbed down from the drape and approached the vampire.
"No, I use a blood substitute." replied Dracula. "Either near blood or blood-beaters, you can't tell the difference."
"Thanks God." Helena sighed, relieved that Dracula didn't drink blood.
"So, wow, you're like, the real Count Dracula, like, 'I am Dracula, bleh, bleh, bleh.'" Johnny did an impersonation of the Count, mimicking the Hollywood style of Dracula.
"I've never said that in my life. 'Bleh, bleh, bleh.' I don't know where that comes from." Dracula gets up annoyed, it always bothers him that they said he spoke like that.
Helena sighs relieved to know that he uses the same substitute that his mother drank, although she agreed with him, she out of curiosity drank the blood of a human girl who bothered her when she was 30 years old, she vomited all night and did not get up from the bed for two days, she vowed never to drink human blood in her life.
"I thought the monsters were extinct." Helena said as she followed Dracula with her eyes.
"We just hid, after so much human persecution, we got tired of being persecuted." Dracula replied. "But I'm glad to hear that the humans think we're extinct."
"Uh, can I just ask? What exactly is this place?" Johnny looked around, slightly curious.
"What is this place?" Dracula walked over to the door windows. They suddenly opened, allowing the wind to blow his cape back and the moonlight to illuminate down on him, like a spotlight. "It's a place I've built for all those monsters out there lurking in the shadows, hiding from the persecution of humankind. A place for them and their families to come to and be themselves. A place void of torches, pitchforks, and angry mobs. A place of peace, relaxation, and tranquility." He finished with his fist clinging to his chest and his head bowed down in a dramatic manner.
Helena looks at him surprised, so the castle is not a prison, if not a sanctuary, a hiding place to come out of the shadows that humans forced them to hide, just as they forced her to hide her other half.
"Wait, I don't know if I understood you." Helena walks over to him. "So this place is not a prison for monsters, it is a hiding place? They can come and go as they please?"
"Yes." Dracula turns to see her.
Helena looks at how the moonlight illuminates him, she looked so handsome, she blushes and looks the other way, she did not understand what was happening to her, she felt strange when she was near him or when he saw her.
"Cool, so it's like a hotel for monsters?" Johnny calmly summed up
"Yes, exactly. 'A hotel for monsters. Way to sum it up." Dracula said sarcastic before using his speed to face both of them. "Okay, hop on my back. We're leaving."
"Wait!" Helena stands in front of him. "I'm not leaving, I want my necklace back."
"Your necklace?" Dracula asked confused.
"Yes, my necklace, you stole it from that fake village!" Helena looks at him badly.
Dracula remembered the necklace she was referring to.
"You talk about this one." Dracula takes out the necklace.
"Yes! It's my necklace." Helena tries to grab it but Dracula keeps it in her clothes. "Hey!"
"I'll give it back to you when I leave you both away from my hotel." A blue mist replaced where he stood and a black bat with red eyes was in the Count's place.
"Whoa, man! You're a bat now. I always wanted to fly. What's it like?" Johnny asked, easily amazed.
"First I will take Johnny, then I will come for you girl." Dracula said.
"My name is Helena." Helena looks at him badly.
"Ok Helena, stay here." Dracula said, as he picked up Johnny by the collar of his jacket. "Let's go."
Then Dracula proceeded to fly them out the window, carrying Johnny out the balcony window as if he weighed nothing.
Helena looks at them as they slowly move away, she would gladly stay and wait for him, she did not trust Dracula to take her with Johnny at the same time in his vampire form.
"This is insane. Wait! Wait, I want to stay. Can Frankenstein sign my costume? Can I meet the Invisible Man? Hey, if I suck my hand in the Invisible Man's mouth, would it disappear?" Johnny asked excitedly
"That's possible?" Helena asked interested.
"Stop moving!" Dracula snarled.
He tried to take Johnny out of the room first and then Helena and take them away from their hotel so that they never come back and everything will be the same again.. But his plan failed the second a female black bat with blue eyes flew in front of him, halting her father in his path.
"Hi!" Mavis greeted.
"Wouldn't it be better to use the door?" Helena asked, crossing her arms.
"You shut up, this will work."
"Hi!"
The plan failed as soon as a Mavis, in her black bat form with blue eyes, flew in front of him, stopping her father in her path.
Helena tries not to laugh.
"Mavy!" Dracula nearly froze upon seeing his daughter show up out of nowhere. "Wh-What are you doing, my sweet little blood orange? Our friend was just leaving."
"Yeah, he was flying me out the window." Johnny said
Mavis looks confused at her father while hechuckled nervously, as he flew back inside the room, transforming back to his normal form.
"This guy is so funny." Turns into human and moves Jonathan away from the window." Oh, look there's something on your face. Come here Helena. "He pulls her with Johnny into the room. "Play along if you ever want to see your precious backpack or if you want your necklace back. "
Johnny smiles nervously as Helena glares at him, she would get her necklace back, even if it was necessary to use her powers.
But Johnny's fears were dashed when he noticed Mavis enter the room and transform from her bat form to her original form.
"Whoa. So, wait, you didn't have any clothes on when you were a bat? Or were they bat-sized?." Johnny asked surprised, Helena gave him a bad look and pinched his arm. "AUCH!" he rubbing his arm. "Why is that?"
"You deserve it, pervert." Helena folded her arms.
Mavis stared at him, looking slightly freaked out.
"Who exactly are they?" Mavis asked, staring at her father.
A whimpering Dracula had to think of a lie and quick. He turned around and gave her an awkward smile.
Dracula swallows hard, he had to think of a lie and fast. He quickly turned around and gave her an awkward smile.
"Honeybat, you see, it's your birthday and, you know, I want you to have the bestest, specialist party of your life. So…well…I…needed some help."
"You needed help?" Mavis didn't sound convinced..
"Well, look, I am very good, but. "Dracula said nervously, trying to think of something quickly. "I thought it would be even more bestest, specialist if someone closer to your age helped planned the party." He said, while adoringly poking his daughter's nose before pulling Johnny up to his cheek.
"You're my age?" Mavis asked excitedly, suddenly up towards the red-headed stein boy's face.
"Sure! Well, how old are you?" Johnny asked.
"118."
"ONE HUNDRED AND-UGH!" Johnny almost screamed hysterically, if it weren't for Dracula nudging him in the stomach and knocking the air out of him, Johnny, in pain, tries to muster up enough strength not to show he's in pain. "Yeah, um…I'm 121."
"Really?" Mavis' eyes widened in excitement. Johnny nodded, still aching from the blow to the gut. "And who is she?" she curiously asked, noticing Helena standing behind her father.
Dracula looks at Helena, he had forgotten about her, Helena waves with an amused hand and continues to cross her arms.
"Oh, she... uh... well..." Dracula stuttered, trying to think of another lie.
Helena rolls her eyes, just to see his despair and because he made her laugh, she was going to help him.
"He hired me, along with my friend Johnny, to help prepare your party." Helena leans a little closer to Mavis. "Obviously the opinion of a 119-year-old woman is needed." fun.
"119?" Johnny looks at her. "That she's not 23 years old." he thought very confused.
"My name is Helena." She reaching out her hand for a handshake, Mavis placed her hand in her and shook it in a friendly manner as they both smiled.
"Hi Helena, it's nice to meet you." Mavis smiles. "How weird, you remind me of someone." looking at her.
Helena swallows hard.
"Really? Who?" she asked a little nervous.
"Exactly." Dracula stands in the middle of both of them, to Helena's relief. "Obviously, we need a woman's opinion." he smiles nervous. "You see? Everything is very, very normal. I'm throwing a party and he is helping." to Mavis
"SIR!" The room' suit of armor spoke up all of a sudden, catching all four of the occupants' attention. "There's an emergency!"
"Did that armor speak?" Helena whispered in surprise, now if she had seen everything.
"Not now!" Dracula shouted. "Can't you see we're in the middle of something very normal here?"
"Wait! What's going on here?" Mavis asked, folded her arms and looked up at her father suspiciously. "There's an emergency in your precious hotel and you're not rushing to fix it? Why, is it because of them?
"Whoa, look at my face! Rragh!" Johnny exclaimed in enthusiasm.
Johnny starts making ridiculous faces on the reflective surface of the armor guard, which annoyed the guard as it tried to push Johnny away.
"No, precious bones, it's not because of them." Dracula replied, pleasantly.
"Good. Then go check on the emergency. And I'll keep them company." Mavis said.
"I support her." Helena said, leaning against the wall.
"No! Anything but that!" Dracula shouted, nearly panicking as he gripped his daughter by her shoulders, looking rather frightened by that notion
"What?" Mavis is surprised and confused by his reaction.
Dracula tries to calm down, he knew his reactions would give him away.
"I mean... because they needs time to plan. And if you're keeping them company, then they not planning. They, uh, company-keeping. And then the plan, it doesn't get planned." He opened the door to let her out.
"Mm-hmm. Good one." said the Shrunken Head on the doorknob in a sarcastic tone.
"Shut up!"
Helena notes that Dracula is a kind of overprotective father, she is also somewhat overprotective with her family, does she look like that?
"Okay" Mavis said, convinced and walks over to Johnny who had the armor helmet on his head, lifts it up to see his face. "Then, maybe if you're not planning later, or if you're not training, we could hang out."
"Sounds good," Johnny said happily.
"I hope we can get to know each other better Helena, I would love to have a friend my age." Mavis looks at Helena.
"Sure, I would like to be your friend." Helena said smiling, she was not lying, she would love to have a friend, she had made friends years ago but she lost them because she had to leave so they would not discover her and also some have already died of old age or of some disease. That's why she stopped having friends, because it hurts to lose them.
"Yes, it sounds good. So you will hang out." Dracula butted in, still smiling and scooting Mavis out the door. "See you later, my Honey. Heh, heh, Lovely." But then he slammed the door shut, glaring back at the two young people. His voice aggravated, "Okay, you are not hanging out...nobody is hanging out!" he said in a hard tone. "Because you're both leaving."
"But, the opposite you said..." Johnny argued in confused disappointment.
Dracula approached the wall and started looking for something.
"I know those reactions, this is an overprotective father, I know what it feels like to have that need." Helena said.
"Was your father overprotective?" Johnny asks.
"My father is dead." Helena said, trying not to sound hurt, she always hurts to say that her parents died, it's something she will never get over.
Dracula stopped what he was doing and turns a little to look at her.
"Sorry, I didn't know." Johnny said embarrassed.
"Don't worry, it was years ago." Helena said with a small smile, hiding the sadness from her.
Dracula sighs a bit sadly and keeps looking until he finds a switch that opens the wall, revealing a staircase that leads to a secret hallway.
"But, sir, the emergency!" the armor's helmet tried to remind its master, its visor moving in Johnny's face while he still wore it.
"Follow me!" Dracula said, ignoring the armor helmet, and flew up the stairs with a trail of blue mist behind him, Helena runs after him followed by Johnny who threw the helmet aside, just after the doors rumbled closed.
"Boy, that kid smelt," the helmet grumbled to itself.
