Oct 23rd: Hold Me in Your Arms
Pairing: Mrs. Norris & Argus Filch
Length: Triple Drabble

Her Favorite Place

Whenever her human was busy cleaning up after the perpetually messy young ones...and she was not needed to either supervise or investigate...Mrs. Norris usually spent her free time in her second favorite spot in the castle. At such times, she would climb the changing staircases and patter down the stone corridor lined with little niches that each housed a statue of a magical being of some importance. Once there, Mrs. Norris would always head straight for the last niche on the right hand side where her favorite stone companion resided.

He was a centaur...tall and magnificent...with a broad equine back that was perfect for long cat naps in either an impressive leonine pose or a flop-down-and-stretch-out-as-far-as-felinely-possible position. Plus, on the back of his more human-like torso, he also sported a large bow and a quiver of arrows that were located at just the right height to rub against for a satisfactory scratch to sooth her itches when actual human fingers were not available to do the job. The best part, however, was the pair of muscular stone arms that folded across his chest to form just the right size and shape shelf to curl up in a ball, nose to tail, and snooze the afternoon away.

"There you are, my Sweet," Argus Filch would always say when he came to find her there when the work was done. "Now, it's my turn."

Then the man would gently gather her up in his own arms, hold her close, and stroke her fur as he quietly whispered to her all the way back to their shared living quarters. Unlike the one from her stone friend, however, her beloved human's embrace radiated a warmth and affection for her that made it her absolute number one favorite place to be.
