Oct 31st: Holiday Traditions
Pairing: The Extended Weasley Family
Length: Triple Drabble
One Stitch at a Time
The Weasley jumpers had been a holiday tradition ever since Molly made Arthur one for their first Christmas together. She had taken months to make that one by hand and used no magic whatsoever. It was truly a labor of love.
Molly continued to make the jumpers for each new Weasley child. However, by the time Ginny was born, she relied more on magic to complete the full set.
When the children grew up and married, thus doubling the numbers of jumpers needed, Molly was no longer able to do more than to pick out the colors and make the first few stitches on each one before she let her enchanted needles do the rest.
When the grandchildren started to arrive, Molly began to despair that she would never be able to complete a full set of Weasley jumpers again...even with magic! Therefore, she decided that it was finally time to recruit some help.
Hermione was first. After all, she had already learned how to knit for the house elves during her SPEW days, and had never stopped. Consequently, the Weasley jumpers continued to appear at the foot of beds and under Christmas trees for a couple more years before it was time to find even more assistance.
Surprising, Charlie was the next to show skill and interest in the activity. Apparently, many of the dragonkeepers spent the long cold Romanian nights away from their dragons with a pair of needles in their hands.
Angelina was next and then, after Baby Molly was born, Audrey learned to knit, as well, .
Eventually Victoire, Hugo, and little Lily joined the ranks of Weasley knitters.
When the great-grandchildren began to arrive, even more volunteers stepped up to assist with holiday jumper duty.
Thus, the tradition flourished...even long after Molly was gone.
