Ah, the first chapter. It feels nice posting a chapter you actually had fun writing.

(Again, I swear this is not a self insert.)

Let's get started, I guess.

I slowly woke up, dazed.

Was my bed always this hard? Not to mention, it's noticeably cold. As I seal my eyes tightly trying to get more sleep, cold air hits my body, giving me a bone chilling shiver. I flutter my eyes open.

I must have kicked my blanket somewhere.

I finally got a clear look to where I was; this wasn't my room. I mentally shut down. I wanted to think, but I couldn't. Clearly, this already was all too much for me since I just didn't know how to deal with this sort of situation. I also noticed my clothes were different, I was wearing a uniform of some kind. It had a brown vest with a… skirt?

Really!? I just woke up in an unrecognizable place with a girl's clothes!?

This felt all too real to be a dream, or perhaps a nightmare. I slid off the hard bed, which I figured wasn't even a bed to begin with. There was a singular metal door in the room. The window was too blurry to see through. I couldn't build the courage to go ahead and exit through the room. I assumed it probably had been a few minutes, but it felt like a whole hour to me. I did nothing but stare at the door while sitting up straight. I begin to notice the little details of the room. The window pretty clearly appears to only be used one way. The room seems to be pretty neat for a room I was kidnapped in. It only looked bad because of the darkness. Almost nothing else was there.

Why did I end up here? I don't think anyone would confuse me as a girl, right?

No torture devices, at least.

I tried to build courage to open the door, yet I couldn't get myself to do it. It was probably locked anyway. I considered pretending to sleep, but couldn't build the courage to do that either. There was no way I could play dead without my heart exploding from pumping.

The door suddenly opened, and shivers ran down my back.

A woman with a lab coat, who looked like she was in her late twenties. Looking at her short and straight hair, I somehow knew her name was Yoshikawa.

"Your patience almost amazes me every time. " She said.

I tried to say something, but nothing came out.

"Well, we might have accidentally done something to your head. Even worse, we don't even know what exactly we did to fix it. Do you feel abnormal at all?"

Suddenly, I opened my mouth. "Misaka doesn't feel anything strange, Misaka reports in a slightly puzzled tone."

Wait…

"Are you sure?" Yoshikawa said before sighing. "Who am I kidding, of course you are. Well, at least it's nothing lethal." Yoshikawa chuckled nervously.

"Misaka shall now take her leave, Misaka states with a hint of worry." I said naturally.

This method of speaking, I remembered. It was the third-person method of speaking the SISTERS always used in the show. Memories of the clone began to come into my head. That includes how I came here, because they noticed something different about me compared to the other clones.

I'm me… So I'm now Mikoto's clone? Is this Academy City?

My heart almost leaped upon the consideration that I'm in another world. One of the cooler ones, no less. "A Certain Magical Index" and "A Certain Scientific Railgun" definitely had a cool concept; where students had a certain ability, ranked from 1 to 5.

I'm now female too…

I slowly began to leave the room, knowing the route outside. Yoshikawa followed behind me. Once I made my way outside, I found myself in a very urban area. There were trains, blimps, buildings, huge screens and many more.

This really is Academy city.

"Well, your hair is actually getting a bit long, so let's cut it on the way back to the hospital, alright?" Yoshikawa said.

What? I don't want to cut my hair! Long haired waifus are justice!

Instinctively, I tried to speak up. "That won't be necessary." I said instead. "…insists Misaka."

I couldn't stop myself from speaking in 3rd person. It was as if an indestructible habit was placed into my head.

"Well, as an apology I'll take you to a mall, and you can have any one item with a reasonable price range." Yoshikawa said. She walked one direction, and waved her hand as an indication to follow her. I followed without much hesitation.

This is a dream come true, I'm going to have so much fun here. Though it is strange being the best waifu rather than meeting one. Unfortunately it seems like I'm not much different from the clones. I'll have to use my past world knowledge to my advantage!

As I continued to follow Yoshikawa, I happened to overhear two teenage female students talking. They were walking at a similar pace as of mine.

"So, what was the quadratic formula again?" One girl asked.

That's easy! Negative B, plus minus square root of B squared minus 4 times A times…

"Raised to the 5th power, that is." The same girl continued.

...Eh?

"Ah, I'll tell you it once was to grab a place to eat, kay?" The other girl replied.

Wait, a quadratic formula for calculating a quadratic equation to the 5th degree? The past world only barely knows the 3rd degree, let alone 5!

That's right. This is basically 30 years further into the future. Of course everyone would basically be a genius. Even the other clones would be more capable than me.

I sighed. I always liked attention, the good type of attention that is. Nothing beats getting your ego stroked with compliments and admiration. (Not too much ego though.)

However, this simply didn't look good.

"We're here." Yoshikawa said. "Have fun, also sorry to ask but which one were you again?"

"Misaka's serial number is 15712, Misaka reports with ease." I replied in a heartbeat.

So that's my number… Thanks, muscle memory.

I looked around. This was indeed a very busy mall. Many people roamed the lobby, entering stores left and right. Almost the majority of them seemed to be rich looking students. I tried peering through the array of books (more like magazines) near the front of the store nearby. Almost every single brand, company and celebrity was unrecognizable.

"Ah, you should come over this way." Yoshikawa said suddenly, grabbing my hand. She dragged me over a few blocks ahead to a bright looking room. The place was filled with books. Magazines, manga and Light novels alike. I almost mistaken the place for heaven. No, this was heaven.

"Try this one." Yoahikawa handed me a manga.

I opened it up, and read the contents.

A bit rushed pacing.

Several information dumps too.

Eh?

I looked up. "What is this? I don't like it."

Yoshikawa looked stunned. "Was it so bad that you started to speak normally?"

It wasn't bad, it was horrible. It was as if the author got really drunk and began to jerk himself off while making a self insert story.

I walked over to the electronics section. I found a little package containing some headphones, and a modern cassette player. I needed some kind of eye bleach. "Misaka desires this."

"Okay…"

Before I knew it, it belonged to me. I put on the headphones, and searched for "Mr Blue Sky". There was no hit. It seemed like the song didn't exist.

I kept typing.

Finally, "Come and get your love". I was happy that at least some songs were still made. I closed my eyes and listened.

This is bliss!

"That's strange…" Yoshikawa said. I took one headphone off so I could hear Yoshikawa through one ear.

"This one was a best seller among all books created though. I suppose you're not a manga person?"

"For female audiences too? Misaka asks hoping Yoshikawa would say no."

"Well… Yes. That manga I gave is popular among male and female audiences alike. Most entertainment here consists of movies, arcade games, and plays anyway. Would you like to see any of those instead?"

For me to be assumed as a person who doesn't like manga?! This is humiliation to all us closet weebs out there! That manga was just shit! I'm still someone who will forever be a true man of culture. Wait, if that one was one of the best… What of all the other mangas and light novels in the world? Are they all even worse than that one?

This place… was much worse than I expected.

Forget being famous.

Forget being strong.

Forget being smart.

Forget being popular.

I have to do everything in my power to show the world the TRUE VALUE of novels, manga, and anime!

As we were about to return to the hospital (or lab…? I don't know). I thought long and hard in Yoshikawa's car. I need a room of my own of some kind to get started. How do I get myself one though? Argh, I really need a room! I must fix this world!

"Can Misaka get a dorm room of her own? Asks Misaka politely." I said, my mouth moving on it's own.

Thanks, habit of being blunt and straightforward.

"What's this all of a sudden? Why?" Yoshikawa asked, turning around as she drove her car.

"Misaka simply thought she couldn't do much where she lives right now. Misaka believes that will be fixed if she got a room of her own."

"So you want to be like everyone else, huh? That is moving, I can arrange it right away."

She misunderstood my intentions, but this is perfect.

It has been some time since everything was prepared. Before I knew it, I'd found myself inside a relatively small room. The place had a single bedroom with a kitchen and bathroom.

The bedroom had a little mattress with nothing else on it. Guess that's my bed. Across the room was a little desk and a chair. When the chair is pulled out, it touches the bed. The kitchen contained nothing but a stove, a fridge and a double bowl sink. The bathroom was… well, the bathroom.

"Here's some allowance to help get started." Yoshikawa said, handing me a lot of money. "We couldn't really get a better room because we wouldn't want people to find out about the project."

Fair.

I didn't say much, I just put down the only two items I had in possession onto the desk: my goggles and music player. I hopped onto the bed, resting my back.

"Already having fun, are we?" Yoshikawa mused. "Well, I better get back home to take care of albino."

She must mean Accelerator.

I nodded towards the comment. Yoshikawa turned to leave, closing the door. Silence enveloped the room. It was only me.

My room looked a bit similar to the Kamijou residence, except with a little less misfortune though. Yoshikawa did give me a lot of money to work with, so I should be considerably better than Touma.

Though it was still considerably late, I needed to go buy starting equipment. I rushed out the door with my money to return to the tech store I'd seen through the car window on the way to my new dorm.

Laptop - Check!

Drawing tablet - Check!

Cables and stuff - Check!

Energy drinks - Check!

Personal Computer - …?

I looked at my pocket where the money was, and all I had remaining was 5,000 yen.

I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY!

With (technically) everything I needed, I was in my room doing an orz.

Well, it cannot be helped.

I set everything up onto my desk. First, I unboxed the laptop and drawing tablet, then I plugged all the cables together, finally I opened up my laptop to get everything started. I did my research by reading other novels, manga in this world. I even browsed through anime to see which books got themselves an anime adaptation. It seemed that none of the current shows, manga, or novels that I knew of existed.

Everything's bland. It's either something extreme and stupid, or slow and boring. This must be why only the one-shots are popular. Every author is writing in consideration for only themselves. People are bound to get bored if they hear someone ramble. The real question begins.

What kind of book should I start with?

Almost every book was fantasy or isekai. Almost zero slice of lifes, rom coms, or mysteries.

Ugh, before I start writing any books of my own, I at least need someone to hit it off with. I need to write a novel that existed in my old world.

That is, which one?

I thought for a bit, I dug into my almost photographic memory of anime, and manga. This is the power of a closet weeb.

I'd rather not make a long series, so a series where the anime hasn't ended yet should probably be crossed off. This includes "Overlord", "Tensura", "Classroom of the Elite", "No game No life", "Kaguya-Sama'', and many other series.

I would probably want those with a quick 12 episode anime, or at least those that have a satisfactory conclusion like "Charlotte", "A Place Further Than The Universe", "Tonikaku Kawaii", "Death Parade", "Wandering Witch", "Devil as a part timer", "Erased", oh and even "The Promised Neverland".

So many options!

No… For my first story, it'll have to be special. I'm Misaka's clone after all.

I made my decision.

I'm going to novelize "Violet Evergarden".
