This story kind of blew up in a sense, and it's only just started. The rate is significantly more than my other stories. (And this is just me messing around!)

Thanks a lot, but… the pressure is getting real lmao.

Also, minor spoilers for Violet Evergarden, but nothing that would ruin the show/novel. I heavily recommend it if you like tearjerkers.

Violet Evergarden was not an anime adaptation. It was a Netflix original. However, this indeed was a moving anime that melted the coldest of hearts. I wasn't sure if a novel was going to have the same impact, but I was going to have to try. I heard there already was a novel, but I haven't read it. I was only going to have to go by the anime.

Violet Evergarden, the protagonist, was an emotionally detached soldier, which matched up too similarly to the clones. She sets off as a letter writer to better learn about her past. Just thinking about it made me skip a beat.

I guess I should start earlier.

I completely memorized every detail of the anime. Such a masterpiece was completely engraved into my mind. I played the show in my head as I began typing passionately. For almost every significant scene, I drew an illustration along with it. I felt tired, so I decided to wrap it up after writing only two chapters. I wrote elegantly, including almost every little detail of the natural peaceful setting of Violet Evergarden. Spending a large chunk of time in front of the charged laptop.

I looked at the time, I almost pulled an all nighter. At this rate, if I work at normal intervals a day I should probably get it done by…

Half a year?! That's way too long!

Well, I suppose writing a whole book isn't anything to sneeze at.

I looked at my remaining 5,000 yen. I was going to have to make some sort of way to make money. Would I need to get a part time job?

"Misaka can't stop herself from talking this way too, says Misaka with a gloom."

I was going to have to fix this way of talking sooner or later, so I decided to exercise my mouth to break the habit. I returned to my laptop, and I began to repeat the same sentence out loud. I spent the rest of the night writing and practicing. I would occasionally zone out, which was quite bothersome.

Hours went by, and the sun began to rise. I stopped my routine, and raised my fingers. They were trembling and twitching.

Carpal Tunnel. A girl's body has a lot less endurance for these kinds of things.

I took a break, looking out the window. I flinched towards the blinding light, covering my eyes. Out of reflex, I shut the curtains. As I hopped onto my bed for the first time in a day, I felt like I was in heaven. The softest of mattresses nestled me with kindness and warmth, I felt like being there forever. That was, until the phone rang.

Whyyyy.

Yoshikawa was on the phone, calling the number she had recently given to the clone. Come to think of it, that clone was the first one to ever utter the word "I". It'd be interesting to see what she would be up to.

"..."

She's taking a while to pick up. Maybe she's taking a morning walk?

"...!"

"Hello?" Mikoto's voice said.

"Hey, I just wanted to see how you're doing. Is living on your own going to be alright?"

"I've been… fine. Says… Mi... saka." She replied. She sounded tired and gloomy.

"Are you trying to change your way of speech?" Yoshikawa asked, shocked.

"I have been practicing."

A clone making a visible effort to blend in and be like with everyone. Her serial number was… 15712 was it? I'd have to remember her.

"Nice to see you doing well, I'll check back on you in about 2 or 3 weeks okay? Don't be afraid to call back!"

"Yes."

"Who were you talking to!? Asks Misaka Misaka, wanting to know!" A childlike voice cries out with glee.

Yoshikawa just hung up the phone, turning around to see a little short haired chestnut girl. She tilted her head, and asked a nonchalant question. "Have you been in touch with Misaka 15712 lately?"

"Hmm, says Misaka Misaka, trying to think… She's been sort of distant lately Misaka Misaka reports, like her connection with the network is severing."

I see.

"I was actually talking with her right now. She requested a dorm room of her own, and she's actually starting to speak a little normally."

"Wait. One of those third-rates? Like… speaking like a normal person?" A new, raspy voice asked.

"It's quite rare for you to take interest in a conversation." Yoshikawa pointed out. "But yeah, she said that she's been practicing to change her way of speech."

Accelerator walked with his cane, up in the morning. His face remained expressionless, but Yoshikawa could tell he was at least a little interested.

"Ugh…"

I put the phone down, and laid on my bed. After just pulling an all-nighter, I felt relatively hungry. I could buy a meal with my remaining money, and find a job for the meantime. I took out my goggles, and slid them onto my forehead. I took my music player and left, making sure I locked the door.

It was hot.

I was a little used to the chilly, cool A/C running. I shielded my eyes with my arm before I got used to the brightness. It was pretty early in the morning, so everyone seemed to be still sleeping. I entered the nearest convenience store for something to eat.

I inspected the shelves to take a look at what might taste good.

Eh, cup ramen sounds good enough.

I walked up to the counter, to see no one there.

"Hello…?" I tried saying. I can't just steal this, can I?

No one responded. I knocked on the door labeled 'STAFF ONLY', and there still wasn't a response. I decided to open the door slightly, to peek. There seemed to be a woman there, asleep.

I walked in, and poked the woman's cheek.

"A-argh!" The woman squirmed awake. "I'm not slacking, I swear!"

Her eyes locked on mine. She looked slightly relieved. I guess she's happy that she isn't busted.

"I'd like to buy something."

"Oh! My dearest apologies!"

We got to the counter so she could ring me up.

"Again, I'm so sorry. We have been a little short staffed lately for a while."

Short… staffed…?

"Really? If that's the case, would you let me work here?"

"WHY OF COUR- I mean." The cashier cleared her throat.

Uwa, I think I just saw a glimpse of desperation.

"I mean, why would a Tokiwadai student like you want to work in a place like this?"

Oh, crap. My uniform. I have to play the rich girl… What's a good reason…? Oh, I know; Tsumugi Kotobuki from K-ON!

"Ah, it's a little embarrassing." I said, scratching my head. Nice, that's something she would say.

"Ah, okay I won't pry then. You're hired!"

"W-wait, that fast? Aren't you supposed to talk to your boss or something?"

"Oh, about that… It was actually part of our job to recruit more people. I got a bonus thanks to you!"

Wow, how cheap can this boss be…?

So, with the help of fate, I managed to secure myself a job. I insisted that I would work the night shift, from late evening to early morning. I left the store with a glee, I would be getting to work just as soon as the sun goes down.

I continued to work as soon as I got home. I wanted this done as soon as possible.

The plan was that I would adapt 2-3 episodes per volume, perhaps including the movies as a spin off of sorts. I also made sure to write down the chronological order I was going to have to write in:

Violet Evergarden (Episodes 1-4)

Violet Evergarden: Kitto "Koi" wo Shiru Hi ga Kuru no Darou (special)

Violet Evergarden (Episodes 5-13)

Violet Evergarden Gaiden: Eien to Jidou Shuki Ningyou (movie)

Violet Evergarden Movie

I wasn't sure if I really wanted to write the last two movies. Not only was I not really all that satisfied, but I probably didn't want to work all that much.

I spent time doing market research, and I had to make some changes to maximize my chances of my book getting recognized.

As much as I hated to change the masterpiece, I had to have been done. First, I decided to change the title to "Sincerely", which was the name of the opening. I couldn't have just made the title just simply the name of the protagonist because without the use of trailers like the anime, hooking people on would be difficult.

After finishing yet another chapter, I moved over to the drawing tablet to draw my heart out with what's on my mind.

The imagery of myself watching the show with glee and ugly tears still vividly remains in my head, as I try to shut my eyes and blink to keep the water works in my eyes, they only spew out all the more.

Once it was almost time, I unplugged my computer and brought it over to the convenience store. It was conveniently close to my apartment, so I had no issue walking to work. As my shift would begin, I would connect to the wifi and sit at the counter.

At first, I would actually be doing my work, but as it slowly starts getting late, people stop visiting the store since it is time to sleep. Then, I would knock some work off using the time I have doing nothing. This was why I wanted the night shift. To kill two birds with a single stone.

I spent time doing nothing but committing to my routine everyday. This body had quite the mental resistance compared to physical resistance. Everyday, I wanted to die. 5 hours of sleep, doing nothing but work. I always forgot and wondered why I was doing this. The beauty of "Violet Evergarden" was the only thing keeping me going.

In the middle of my personal hell, I looked at the time during my shift, and prepared to take out my laptop as usual. I stared intently into the laptop as my fingers got to work.

"Misaka-san?" Someone echoed.

I snapped out of it. "Oh, I'm sorry. I'll ring you up…"

Realizing what the girl just called me, I looked up. The girl was in casual clothes, with long straight black hair. She wore a single large flower pin on her head. Turquoise eyes are onto me with confusion.

"D-do I know you?" I said instinctively, she looked familiar, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.

"Ah, sorry. Your face and hair looked like a friend I know." She said in an apologetic tone, shaking her hands. She then began to stare at me, intrigued. "Actually… your face and hair are almost exactly like my friend's. I guess your hair is a bit longer, and your eyes are different."

My eyes must be taking quite a toll from working.

"Ahah, that's funny." I laughed nervously. "Here, that'd be 512 yen."

"I should introduce you to my other friends. You'd definitely fool a select few of them!"

She's a bit pushy.

"Oh, but I only work here pretty late in the night."

"Sure thing! I'll see you tomorrow!" She said, sprinting out the door.

I pondered about the girl for a moment, and shrugged. I couldn't really afford to care about that; I was in the final stretch.

My eyes twitched. My fingers ached. My feet stinged as they were asleep.

I stared intently at my work, checking every single nook and cranny. Mistakes were checked, grammar was fixed. Imagery and figurative language was increased. I sighed, as I saved my work and prepared to get started on adapting the last two movies.

I stopped. Do I even want to cover the movies? I included the special, which I squeezed between episodes 4 and 5. I personally didn't like the movies, and I was also feeling very lazy. (Please don't hate me, I actually just didn't watch the movies)

I let the devil take over me. I was going to omit the movies.

Yoshikawa walked to the dorm room she dropped the unique Misaka at. It's been two months, and she wanted to visit her to see how she's been doing.

She didn't call me once for an extra allowance… I'm a bit worried.

She knocked on the said door and waited a little.

"..."

Yoshikawa knocked again after almost a while.

"Hello?" She called.

She had enough, she budged the door in a fit of frustration, but the door opened with ease. She stared at the lock, stunned.

She doesn't have the incentive to lock the door, huh?

"Sorry for the intrusion…"

She took a look around, noticed the place was a bit messier than it used to be. She saw something on the ground, a body. The body of the 3rd ranked esper, the Railgun. Yoshikawa screamed, backing away.

O-oh my god… OH MY GOD…

Her intuition kicked in, and she placed her finger on the girl's neck.

She's just asleep. Thank goodness.

"Still…" Yoshikawa said out loud this time. "Why aren't you sleeping on the bed?"

She took a quick look around, and noticed the laptop on the desk, filled with crumpled up paper. She took one and straightened it up. It was a really good drawing of a woman, with a historical dress. The type that was worn in perhaps the 20th century.

The woman was drawn manga-style. She looked abnormally pretty, like a doll. She turned to look at the feverish, asleep Misaka.

Did she draw this…? Amazing…

I wonder if the little error was behind this. It definitely had something to do with her connection with the network.

Ah, geez. You're hopeless.

Yoshikawa lifted the light, skinny teenage girl and placed her onto the bed. She lightly took the blanket, and gently tucked her in.

She seemed to sleep a lot more soundly. She turned to look at the laptop. It must have been expensive to get her hands on. Curious, she went to take a peek. However, she was blocked by a password.

This is no problem for me!

Yoshikawa entered the most likely password she could think of: 15712

She was in. She noticed the only significant other thing was a document labeled " ".

What could it be…? A diary of sorts?

She looked at the first page, and her eyes widened. It was long. Like, an extremely long document. She pulled out a USB. She carried it around in case of situations like this.

She plugged it in, and copied and downloaded the file.

She nervously waited in anticipation for the bar to reach all the way. She looked back at the sleeping Misaka, and noticed that her download was complete.

She pulled the USB and walked out the door.

Sleep well, bud. I'm going to have a lot of fun reading this.
