Title: A Centipede Wants to Live Peacefully.
Summary: I always wished to escape reality, believing in fairy tales, and immersing myself in books to distract myself from the duties of an adult. I wished to live in a cottage somewhere in a forest, free from the bustle of the city. I could never imagine that I would lose my life and then be reincarnated as a monster. Is my wish possible?

Mason parted ways with his companions as soon as he reached the guild, and headed straight for the room upstairs. He ignored the greetings and waves from other guild members that he was close with. This was a guild that was based near the Great Elroe Labyrinth in a small but prosperous village. It was one of the most famous and best guilds in the entire region. This couldn't have happened without his guild master.
He knocked on the door twice before putting his lips close to the door and calling out. "Guild Master, it's Mason."
"Come in." Mason entered, closing the door behind him. He turned around, facing his guild master who stood at six feet tall.
Yuno Azvelt, the Guild Master of Shinning Star Guild. He was a very handsome man with many women flocking to join the guild just to see his face. His silky blonde hair, his slanted ice blue eyes, flawless skin, fit body, and power as guild master were all things that attracted many of the guild members.
Mason bowed his head. "The mission was postponed, Master," He raised his head, "Mira was injured, and the monster got away."
"How incompetent," Yuno chuckled but his eyes were very cold, "When do you plan to subdue the monsters? The mission must be completed at all costs."
Mason started to sweat, gulping as he forces the answer from his mouth. "I plan to re-group today with a stronger team of my close friends and finish the mission today. You can guarantee it. "
Yuno nods, turning away from him. "Prepare yourself. This guild was paid a hefty sum for this monster eradication. Do not fail me again."
"Yes, Master!" Mason saluted.
"Take this," Yuno walked over to him and pushed a glowing pulsating magic black ball into his hands, "secure it safely."
"This is..!" Mason was surprised, looking down the ball before safely tucking it in his bag, "This will help with the mission immensely, thank you, Master!"
Yuno waved his hand. "You may leave now."
"Of course, Master!"
When he left Yuno walked over to the window, leaning against the sill and watching the people move around the village. He was still fascinated by the world he came to find himself in many years ago. He never expected something like reincarnation to happen to him because he didn't believe in fantasies or fairy tales.
Yet, he died in a sudden explosion as he was running towards his subordinate whom he told to deliver something to his nephew. She had the wrong item, something belonging to another woman in her hand to give his nephew. He was getting ready to scold, destroy her confidence again when a sudden explosion killed him. When he woke up was a baby once more, son to a blacksmith and mage. He thought it was all a dream at first, or that he had gone insane but as the days passed, which turned into months, and years, he realized that this was all real. He found out that the world was like an RPG game he played in his youth.
It was the whole works with skills, stats, a system. It was just like those books he read with her in college. He found out he was born with a skill that no one had. The skill he was born with was Weapon Magecraft. This skill changed his life and allowed him to reach great heights that he could even start his own guild. He could make any type of magic weapon as long as he had magic. He secretly sold many weapons which made him one of the richest men on the continent. The world he found himself in was better than earth.
Yet, he often wondered if the teenagers in the classroom got reincarnated. He worried for his nephew who was caught up in the explosion. He thought about her as well. His college crush turned workhorse; Mai Yumehiro. He laughs, knowing that if she got reincarnated she would be something useless like an insect.
He sneered. "Who told her to reject me." He spat, growing angry at the thought of her. After he calmed down he pulled out a magic crystal ball and poured magic into it. Immediately, an elf showed up on the screen with a smile.
"Mr. Azvelt."
Yuno grins at the elf. "How many weapons did you want, Potimas?"
.
.
Mason had gathered his strongest team of strong eight guild members. They had prepared their strongest armor, weapons, and potions. They were all around the levels of 26-28 with him being the strongest in the group. He felt confident as he walked towards the gates of the labyrinth with his team.
"Halt, present your guild certificates!"
Mason showed his certificate to the guards which allowed them to enter the labyrinth. He turned to his team members who were all his close friends that traveled with him in dangerous situations.
"My friends," Mason started with a grin, "today we triumph by eradicating all of the ferects forever."
"Mason, it's good to work with you again!"
"Same here!"
"I'm pumped up, to be honest."
"The reward is very attractive!"
Mason laughed, thanking his friends for joining him on the mission. They checked over their equipment once more before entering the labyrinth first level. They slowly walked through the caves with burning torches while the two supporting members of the group cast revealing spells around them. Mason was fully decked out in his black steel armor and a magical sword that was made by the guild master. They killed monster after monster that they came across.
"Damn, when are we going to meet these things?!"
Mason concentrated on his surroundings. "Stay focused! Although these things hunt in groups there was one who hunted alone so be careful. It can conceal itself pretty well."
The group stayed quiet as they traversed the perilous terrain while dispatching any monsters they came across. After traveling for an hour they came across a large room in the cave system that he knew well. However, there was a strange structure in the middle of the cave that looked like a makeshift stone house.
"What the hell is that?"
"Some sort of house?"
He heard one of his companions say but he raised his hand. "Quiet!" He hushed as they moved further towards the structure with the torches. He noticed that the crystals that shown the light in this area were dimmed. When they got by the stone house they found it empty.
"This doesn't seem right..."
Mason turned to his supports. "Use-"
"There!" His companion shout, cutting him off and pointing at 10 ferects heading towards him from the entrance they came in.
"Light them up!" Mason ordered, pointing at the monsters with his sword.
"Burning Inferno!" The two mages of the team shouted, casting a combination spell.
Mason watched them turn to ashes and grinned. "There should be more coming soon. Prepare yourselves!" He shouts as they readied their weapons.
"BEHIND YOU, MASON!"
Mason turned around quickly, spotting a single ferect on top of the structure. "I will handle this one." Mason grinned, stalking towards the structure. However, before he could go any further the ferect raised its upper body and let out a screech.
"Oh my god..."
Mason jumped backward, sweat running down his forehead. "Fucking shit!" He cursed as he looked at the walls and all around him as the camouflage that hid the ferects fall away. They were completely surrounded. The monsters were on the ceilings, walls, ground….they were everywhere.
"This is a nightmare!"
Mason cursed again. "Everyone, flaming formation now!" They formed a circle with their backs to each other before the mages created a firewall around them for protection. "We can do this!"

I screech angrily at them coming to invade my home and kill me. I appraised them and found that Mason had brought back a stronger team. Well, they weren't going to leave this place alive. I watch them form a ring of fire around themselves but it didn't matter.
I had at least one thousand of them to fight for me. "Go!" I ordered in my mind. I sent 100 of them towards the group, not to attack but purposely kill themselves so I could get the fire resistance skill. I watch them go one by one into the fire and turn to ashes. I could feel pain from seeing such a sight but I was determined. When they all died one of the men screamed out.
"Is that all you got?!" Mason screamed, looking smug.

I laughed inwardly before connecting to the link. "Kill them all!"
I watch as my family skitter across the cave floor towards the mages, descending on them without mercy. I see one jumping through the fire at one of the mages, barely burnt as the fire resistance skill worked. It knocked her out of the ring, wrapping its body around her tightly before other centipedes descend on her, eating her alive while her screams echoed throughout the cave.
"Shit! Mary-Anne!" Mason screamed as he hacked away at centipedes.
"No!"
Mason turned around, noticing the formation was broken so quickly, and that three of his companions were separated from him, leaving him with only four companions at his side. He could only watch helplessly as they were overrun with the centipedes. He gritted his teeth and turned to the single centipede that was on top of the stone structure.

"I am going to kill you!" Mason roared, his companions casting spells of protection and offensive spells while following him.
He swung his magic sword horizontally, placing precise cuts into the hard bodies of the centipedes, spilling their organs and blood upon the cave floor He roared in fury, slashing and hacking. Flanked by his brethren men, more centipedes came rushing towards them. Centipedes tore through the air and fell on one of his comrades, knocking him from the formation and onto the ground. He was immediately swarmed by centipedes. One after another his companions fell and only he was left.

"Stop," I ordered my family and they stopped their attack.
I watch Mason struggle to get where I was. His eyes that held hate and fury focused on me only. I should feel bad for killing humans because I was once human as well but it was either him...or me. He got paralyzed by one of the centipedes and was walking slowly towards me.
Mason was shocked when the centipedes stopped and his thoughts immediately flew back to what Fern told him. "You think you won!" He screamed with tears in his eyes.
He dug into his bag, pulling out the black magic ball. He saw his companions that he was friends with for many years die in front of him. He was going to avenge their deaths. "I'm going to blow this place up and you're coming with me!"
Blow up? Alarms went off in my head as I looked at the black pulsating ball in his hand. I didn't know what it was but it couldn't be anything good.
"This is for my Guild Master!"
"Kill him!" The ferects swarm on him immediately, bringing him to the ground but he was still able to activate the black ball. I was completely blinded by the light from the ball and I was scared. I didn't have to issue an order as the swarm seemed to feel my fear and converged on me.
BOOM!

The pain I felt from the explosion was immense but lessened as the voice of the system went off in my head repeatedly. I slammed against the wall, trying hard not to faint. I was still blinded from the suicide attack but I slowly regain my vision and was stunned by the destruction that bomb caused.
There was nothing in the room.
The house, my family, and Mason were gone, leaving me alone. I quickly appraised myself and was shocked that my health bar was close to being zero. I scanned my body, seeing some of the lower half of my body gone. I couldn't believe he would kill himself just to get rid of me. I activated my fartalk ability in desperation, hoping to hear unintelligible voices filled my head but nothing came.
I was choked up.
There was only me left now.
I slowly got up, crawling away to find a small corner to nurse my wounds. I left the destruction behind in a daze, managing to find a structure made of spider web by taking a path I had never taken before. I slowly crawled into the structure that had no sign of movement, making sure not to let any stick to me. I surveyed the structure that was built securely and silently thanked whoever left it there.
I fell down, my soul crying out.
If I died now… my species will be….
Extinct.
