Title: A Centipede Wants to Live Peacefully.

Summary: I always wished to escape reality, believing in fairy tales, and immersing myself in books to distract myself from the duties of an adult. I wished to live in a cottage somewhere in a forest, free from the bustle of the city. I could never imagine that I would lose my life and then be reincarnated as a monster. Is my wish possible?

I would have never truly known until this moment. I now know the feeling of having an instinctive response. I know within my soul that the Queen Taratect is my sworn enemy. I am not nearly strong enough to beat the gargantuan monster in front of me but I could still feel a dark angry violent energy that gave me the will to go against such a monster.

There couldn't be two queens in the labyrinth. This was the reason that both evolutions were sworn, enemies. The Queen Ferect was like a rising queen coming to usurp the Queen Taractect and she would never let another "queen" encroach on her territory. So the spider queen completely suppressed the ferects, reducing them to mere commoners in the world of monsters.

I gained access to the system and could now see the weakness of others. The queen had no weakness that I could see with her high levels in all resistances. Her body is healthy, she most likely hasn't had a battle in a long time. The only thing I could rely on was my new upgraded poison that bypasses resistances.

The Queen moved, she was superior to me in speed but the small space allowed my agile body to slip off her attack. I exited the labyrinth through the broken ceiling as fast as I could with her hot my tail. I whipped my body around, swinging my tail violently at her, cutting down trees in the process with my hooked claws.

My tail collides with her body with explosive force but she didn't move an inch. I try pulled my lower body back but her sharp legs pierced through it. I opened my mouth, a magic circle forming over my mouth, and fired off a ball of poison that was red due to Toxic Brew.

The poison soar through the air but the Queen disappeared from sight instantly. I sense her above me, reacting instantly, I activated a paralyzing evil eye but that proves to be fruitless. I screamed inwardly, watching horror as the queen fell towards me, and trapped me beneath her body, crushing me in the process. Her legs pierced my body through different segments of my body, blood painting the forest trees red.

Thanks to pain resistance I was able to ignore the pain Using my upper body, I try to deliver a blow to her abdomen with my front claws and mandibles but I was caught in a web, unable to move. I writhed violently, knowing what happens when a spider catches you in her web. I totally outclassed by the spider queen. The queen opened her mouth, and I could see the magic start to gather by her mouth rapidly.

In desperation, I activated my plant magic, hoping it could do something. Vines shot from the forest, wrapping themselves around the spider queen, and yanks her back, throwing off her aim. She fires a powerful magic beam into the sky that parted the clouds. If that had hit me I would've been completely obliterated.

Poison bubble inside my body and erupted, forcing its way up my body, and through my mouth violently. The ball of poison struck, exploding on impact. The queen roared, shocked by the potency of the poison. She brought another of her legs down, aiming to pierce my head, but I unleash another ball of poison but the queen teleported behind me.

I lurched forward, struck again by more of the sticky spider webs. I got trapped, at the mercy of the spider queen.

"Can't believe I'm about to die because of a jealous spider queen!" I thought in despair, silently weeping. Why couldn't D give me an ultra-strong ability?! I waited for the killing blow but it never came. I activated my detection skill, all senses honing in on the spider queen.

The queen is leaving?!

I thought for sure I was going to die but the queen left before she could finish me off. I quickly appraised myself checking my health bar and I could barely see the yellow bar which was slowly recovering One more hit and I would have died. The thought scared me more than anything. I still had some MP and SP left which was great but the real problem was getting out of these webs before the queen came back.

I ran through my list of skills in my head faster than what was normal, combing through different plans, and noted that I had no skills that could get me out of these webs. I only had one option and it was going to take a while. Luckily, a portion of my upper body wasn't caught in the webs.

I steeled myself and curled my body so I can easily get to the webs. I spat poison on the webs, soaking them. I then start to eat the webs, using my claws and mandibles to slowly eat the web. It was extremely sticky but with the help of my poison, I was able to consume the poison.

Surprisingly, it was very sweet. I didn't know if it was the webs or the poison but it was the first sweet thing I have tasted in a very long time. I took my time, savoring the poisoned soaked webs, as my body heals thanks to the poison I'm consuming.

"So good!" I inwardly cried. I never thought I would eat something delicious again. The actual content is disgusting but the sweetness. I miss human food, I thought. I would love some roast duck, garlic chicken, pasta, lobster. The more I thought about the food I got more disappointed. I pushed thoughts of delicious human food to the back of my mind. It wasn't until the evening that I managed to eat the webs from my long body. I was fully healed now and could move around freely.

For the first time since I came outside, I took a good look at the forest. I was shocked by the destruction I caused, so many trees destroyed. The trees and plants were crying out because of the destruction, not only that because the poison I unleashed soaked a large area, damaging the trees and earth.

"I'm sorry," I thought. I never imagined that being connected to nature and hearing the pleas of wildlife could be so sad. I was so caught up in the battle I didn't notice such destruction. I was finally free from the labyrinth and my dream within reach. There is an expanse of forest in front of me, all around me, that called out to me.

I looked back at the hole in the ground that was covered by rubble and made my way through the forest. I should be running scared because the Queen Taratect could come back but I felt at peace here, my soul filling with tranquillity. I would be contented to stay here, I am going to live here and protect the forest.

I quickly moved through the forest, going further away from the battleground. When I was far enough I looked for a nice open and central area in the forest. I remember receiving a particular skill and quickly looked at the description.

[Burrow LV1: The user can burrow into the ground to hide from enemies or create a reinforced dwelling underground as a home.]

This was just what I needed. "Time to use the Burrow skill!" I used my front claws to start digging and the ground easily gave away. It took longer than I thought but eventually, I was able to calculate how deep I was thanks to arithmetic processing.

I dug a 100 feet tunnel with upwards and curving angles to prevent flooding in case of rainfall. I then dug an underground chamber as the central base to accommodate my size and then dug out another chamber for my….eggs. When I was finished with that task, I dug out two tunnels from the main chamber that went to various parts of the forest.

It was completely dark when I was finished and I lay inside the egg chamber. I could feel the plants and forest animals above me, putting me at ease that they were alright. As I traveled around the forest, I could see many affected areas that were probably battlegrounds for other monsters or humans. I could see that many trees and plants were diseased and sick.

I fully intended to help the forest out and restore the weakened areas. But first… I needed to lay some eggs. I could feel the eggs coming out of me and I was disgusted.

"It's all for the greater good!" I thought sadly.

I released my last egg and counted exactly one hundred eggs in the chamber. They were all clumped together, forming a honeycomb of eggs. I sighed inwardly and pushed them closer to the back wall and curled my body around them. I never thought I would have children in my old world but here I was having one hundred children at once in another world. Centipedes usually lay up to 50 eggs but due to the Fertile Nature skill, I lay double the number of eggs.

"The big question is when you are going to hatch.." I thought, looking at the eggs.

Yuno listened to the report that was given by his general; Hayate.

"We searched the Upper Stratum and found the location where the bomb went off. There have been no signs of the Elroe Ferects in the vicinity." Hayate reported, adorned in his pristine white armor.

"Mason can be a fool at times," Yuno smiled, "but I'm sure he completed his job. Search for a few more days before while I confirm the success of the mission with our client."

"Roger, Master!" Hayate saluted before leaving the office.

Yuno poured magic into his magic ball and it connected. "Pope Dustin, how are you?." Yuno grinned, starting at the pope.

"Mr. Azvelt, I assume the only reason you are contacting me is that you completed my request." Pope Dustin said.

"Of course, the mission was complete," Yuno supplied, "However, I lost people during that mission."

"May the goddess be with them." Pope Dustin said softly, closing his eyes briefly.

"If I may ask why did you want them killed?" Yuno asked, his curiosity getting the best of him, "Aren't they just a bunch of weak monsters who must hunt in a pack to even get a morsel of food?"

"One of our disciples is a skilled seer who foresaw a future where a woman with black hair standing among the destruction of the Holy Kingdom of Alleius. He regarded her as a breathtaking beauty with golden eyes, pitch-black horns on her head, and a serene smile but behind her, there was the shadow of a centipede..."

Yuno was flabbergasted. "So…..based on a "vision" you decided to kill an entire species?"

"Yes, they are the only centipede-like monsters in the world." Pope Dustin replied.

"But what if its an actually a human you were supposed to be looking for?"

"Rest assured, Mr. Azvelt," Pope Dustin grinned, "That the Word of God Religion is doing everything we can to search for this woman or thing." The magic ball cut off immediately.

Yuno laughed before walking out of his office. He went to the balcony and stared down at all of the members of his guild.

"Everyone!" Yuno shouted, catching the attention of his guild, "It is time for us to celebrate that passing of Team Mason who valiantly fought to the bitter end to complete his mission. Today will be his day!"

Yuno grinned as cheers followed his speech. "I love this world!"
