Chapter.24
Hey guys, hope you are well. Shits really hitting the fan in this chapter so be ready. And it may require another cliff hanger unfortunately...but in this instance it will make a lot more sense. I'm gonna let the chapter speak for itself. I hope you all enjoy.
Heidi turned her head to look at the boy in the orange parka. She gave him a smile.
"Hello Kenny."Heidi said.
Kenny returned the smile and waved.
Kenny then made his way to the bench and proceeded to put his stuff down.
"So...what's this...what's this all about?"Kenny stuttered as he took his seat next to Heidi.
Heidi looked away from Kenny and fiddled her with the end of her hair. She could feel the anxiety building in her gut again.
"Well...I-I"Heidi failed to get out
This was it. She invited him here just for this. It was Heidi's time to do what needed to be done. No matter the cost.
After all, if she did actually care about him, shouldn't she want to tell him the truth.
"Heidi?"Kenny asked
Heidi looked at Kenny who's face conveyed a worried look. Heidi back toward Starks pond.
Heidi exhaled and turned toward Kenny once more. She had to do it now. If it was true...it shouldn't be hard to get the words out...right.
"Well, the truth is that...I like you…"Heidi said
Kenny's expression changed to the that of suprise.
"Like..Like you "like" me or…"Kenny failed to finish.
"Like isn't the best word. The truth is that I think I'm in love with you Kenny. Every time we talk I forget about the world around us and lose track of time. Whenever you smile, I become breathless. Every time we touch my gut feels like it's abou to explode and I can't control my thoughts...I can't even come up with words to fully describe it. Does any of that make me sound crazy?"Heidi asked
Kenny exhaled and smiled.
Kenny his arms behind his head.
"Well...it doesn't sound that crazy to me. Because I feel the same about you."Kenny said
Heidi blinked her eyes and blushed.
Kenny closed his eyes.
"You make me feel the same way and more. I would do anything for you and more. Your smile means so much to me and I find it more valuable than any currency. I'd do anything to maintain it…"Kenny added
"Kenny…"Heidi led out as she stared back at the pond.
"Ya, I sometimes get a feeling in my gut to. I can't tell if I'm sick or if the feelings I have for you are just that overpowering my physical being."Kenny said
"Kenny…"Heidi led out it agin. This time a single tear was building up in her left eye. Kenny didn't seem to notice and continued.
"Sheesh it sounds so cheesy.. I feel like I can do anything when I'm around you. I can rule for miles, I can move mountains, tame seas and conquer my fears."Kenny continued
"Ken.."Heidi managed to get out of her wind pipes. More tears were building in her eyes but still...Kenny didn't notice.
"You give me hope Heid's. Hope that my family and I can change things for the better. I haven't had many people tell me that and encourage me like that. To make me feel like I'm somebody that matters."Kenny went on.
"Kenny…"Heidi said a bit louder. Kenny still failed to notice and the tears were steaming down her cheeks.
"Listen, I've felt a lot of things toward a lot of people. Hate, pity, pride, and love. But Heidi...there isn't a single term I can coin to you. I feel something for me so much that it hurts. Your one of a kind to me Heidi and I can't express in any other way…"Kenny lowered his arms and looked toward Heidi.
"Heidi, I love-Heidi? O my god! Are you okay?"Kenny asked as he noticed Heidi crying.
Heidi shouldnt have let Kenny pic up from her question. She only felt guilt from what she was about to do next.
"Heidi?"Kenny questioned as he grabbed her hands.
Heidi turned to Kenny with tears running down her cheeks.
"Heidi please...tell me what's wrong."Kenny asked
Heidi couldn't look Kenny in the eyes and but her lip. She looked back up to Kenny.
"I also have feelings for someone else!"Heidi let out amongst her tears.
Kenny's eyes widened. He felt his stomach coil in suprise. One fo his guesses had been right...well kind of.
"How could this have happened?"Kenny thought to himself.
"When was she seeing someone else?"Kenny continued to think.
Kenny let go of Heidi's hands and put his hands on his knees. Heidi pulled into her self and held her knees to her chest.
"How long have you knowen them?"Kwnny questioned in a shy voice.
"Just as long as I've knowen you."Heidi responded
"So it's not-
"No, it's not Cartman. And I promise you, it never will be."Heidi caught off Kenny.
There was an awkward pause. Heidi could feel the guilt realing in her head. It was making her light headed she looked to Kenny who had a blank expression on his face.
She expected no less from him.
A whole host of thoughts was running through Kenny's head.
Kenny first expected Kyle. But there was a strong part of him that didn't want to believe that. Afterall, Kyle had been helping him along. Although, Kenny's brain noted that he did advise him a few times. All of which led to the scenario that he was in now. But it wasn't like Kyle to do something down right sadistic. Maybe to Cartman as a punishment, but not Kenny. But it wasn't Kyle's style. He preferred to tell you right to your face if you were doing something that upset him. And he had.
Then Kenny's mind hopped over to Stan. Stan always seemed to want Wendy. Not Heidi. And based on the fact that Heidi had reached out to him a few times with Cartman wanting to kill himself. But it didn't seem to detract Stan from Wendy. Kenny needed to stop considering his closest friends.
He looked to his right to see Heidi keeping to herself with tears still running down her cheeks.
"So I guess, you asked me to come here to tell me you are choosing them instead of me huh?"Kenny asked
Heidi paused
"Yes. Not because I don't feel for you just as strongly. But this person, they are...safer for me. I don't want to risk anything happening to you or your family Kenny. Because of a certain fatass. This other person, they are out of his view you could say."
Kenny exhaled.
"That's...that's good to hear."
Another awkward pause fell among the two. Kenny decdied that now was the best time to finish whatever this was.
"I'm sorry. I just need some space right now."Kenny said
Heidi looked at Kenny and nodded.
After which Kenny got up from the bench and picked up his back pcm and began to walk away.
Heidi looked back and decided that she at least say something.
"I'm sorry Kenny. I didn't want it to be this way-
"Don't apologize Heidi. You are your own person. I'm never gonna hate that. As a matter of fact, it's one of things I love about you."Kenny said
He turned toward Heidi gave her a weak smile.
"I'll see you at school tommorow."Kenny said
"Ya, see you then."Heidi responded.
The rest of way home for Kenny was blurr.
The only real thing he could remember was the sound of snow crunching under his shoes. Along with some thoughts that ran through his head.
In the end, he wanted happiness for Heidi. It would have been nice if he was a part of that. But he wasn't. And as long as she was happy, that's what mattered to Kenny...right?
And the fact that it wasn't Cartman made things a little better.
Kenny finally arrived home. No one else was home. Kenny had told Karen that he was hanging out with someone after school and she went to hang out with her friends. Kevin was probably with his buddies. And his parents were good knows where.
Kenny opens the door and entered the house. He made his way to his room and put his stuff down before sitting on his bed.
He eventually decided to lay on his back and looked up at the ceiling. Kenny just felt so...empty. Like a shell, like something had been removed from him.
He'd decdied to pull up his hood and pull the strings that tightened it. Kenny turned to his side.
It would have been nice to at least have Karen or Kevin here. At least Kevin would have made humor of the situation and was well as some console. Karen also would have been pretty consoling. She had a pretty empathetic side to her. Kenny prided her on that.
But it was just Kenny and his thoughts. He had none. Just the feeling of loss. But Kenny didn't cry. How could he?
The girl he cared about most was in a much better place and had found happiness. He had been a part of that transformation and was proud of her.
Still there was this feeling. A feeling that burnt the back to Kenny's throat. It made Kenny want suck into his flesh and hide.
Kenny couldn't help but shut his eyes and just let sleep remove his conscientiousness remove him from this reality. If only temporarily.
(Hours later.)
Kenny woke up from his another nap once more. It had been a while since he slept with his hood on and felt wierd. Like he was trapped in a cocoon. Kenny took his hood off and looked out the window.
There was no moon in the sky. Or stars for that matter. There seemed to be clouds blocking any incoming light. Maybe they would bring the promise of rain. Seeing as rain is rare thing to see in South Park rather than snow.
Kenny just shrugged. He still felt drowsy from napping. He had no dream to recollect of. Kenny headed toward the bathroom to wash his face.
Kenny washed his face and stared at himself in the mirror. Admittedly, Kenny couldn't deny that he wasn't a bad looking kid. Although he wouldn't broadcast it douchely like Clyde.
Kenny walked and peered into Karen and Kevin's room. Luckily, they both seemed to be asleep. Kenny was happy to see Kevin back at a decent hour. Kenny looked down the hall to see his parents watching TV.
Since he had the energy, Kenny decdied to suit up. Beating up bad guys and and helping others was cathartic to Kenny. He also need to sometime to get outside of his own head.
Kenny quickly went back to his room and suited up. Strong with the pants, belt and shirt. And finishing with his cape and tools.
While looking to grab more fire crackers in his drawer, he noticed the loaded gun. He held it in his hand for a second.
"Why do I even own this?"Kenny thought.
He had used on himself a few times. Mainly to conveys his power to his friends. Which he had failed to do. But not in any other scenario.
Kenny was rembering how he got the gun. He got it girl Cartman. The same person that had cost him a safe relationship with Heidi.
A dark thought crossed Kenny's brain. Cartman always seems to be the problem. Why didn't he just do the world a favor and get rid of him.
Kenny gritted his teeth. As someone who had been shot multiple times, he would never want that upon anyone. Especially by his own hand. Even the likes of Cartman.
Kenny put the gun back in its place and then shit the drawer.
Kenny proceeded to exit his room through his window and make his way towards the South Park police station.
As Kenny traversed the streets and buildings of South Park, that dark thought lingered in Kenny's head.
At the end of the day. It was always Cartman. The one holding them back socially. The one that hurt Heidi to begin with. The one that lied to Kenny about the truth of his immortality.
It was a long time coming, but maybe somebody really needed to deal with Cartman. And it seemed like to Kenny that he would need to be the one that would need to do it.
Kenny wouldn't do any drastic. Probably just threaten him and give him a reason I fear him. And maybe even get Cartman to apologize to him and Heidi. Maybe it would change Heidi's descion.
That last thought didn't sit right with Kenny. Doing something shady behind the scenes to make someone choose you over someone else. Even if it was for Heidi and against Cartman, it don't sit well with Kenny's conscious. Plus, Cartman knew that Kenny was Mysterion. It would give Cartman a reason to plan a counter attack. And that could prove to be detrimental to Kenny and anyone else he cared about.
Kenny had just climbed up a ladder and began to traverse the top of a building that seemed familiar.
Kenny felt like he shouldn't be here and that he was going the wrong way. He couldn't figure out why.
"Hey Myst!"Kenny heard some shout.
Kenny decdied to keep moving. He really didn't know where to begin with this.
"You know I can see you right?"Heidi said aloud.
Kenny stopped and rolled his eyes. Kenny should have knowen better than to run this way. Especially with everything that just happened between him and Heidi.
Kenny exhaled made his way down to Heidi. Opting not to jump, and just scale down the building. Kenny could feel droplets hitting. He looked up to see rain coming down on himself. Looks like clouds were making good on their promise.
Upon arriving on the ground, Kenny was confronted by Heidi.
"So I know the conditions aren't favorable to have a conversation but how have you been?"Heidi questioned
"Fine I guess. How about yourself?"Mysterion responded
Heidi fiddled with her hair which was getting wet in the rain.
"I'm doing alright. I've had to make some hard decisions recently…"Heidi awakerdly got out.
Kenny noticed this and lifted an eye brow.
Heidi could feel the anticipation of everything building within her. The cold rain wasn't helping the matter. Luckily, it wasn't getting super intense so a conversation could still be had during the down pour. She had already done what she needed to do with Kenny earlier that day.
All she needed to do was tell Mysterion how she felt and hope that he would be willing to give something like this a try.
Maybe even offer up a challenge and figure out who he really was.
"Myst, I'm just gonna get straight to the point. I really don't know how many fan girls you have. Or if you have any at all."Heidi said
"Well damn do I?"Kenny thought to himself.
"But I bet some has attached them self to your persona. You'd be suprised how easy it is for someone. I guess I would know."Heidi said
Kenny was a bit confused but allowed her to keep going.
"The truth is Myst, I wanna be the Mary Jane to your spider man. Or the Louis lane to your super man. Or whatever super hero you want to be."Heidi said
Kenny was having a revelation. He gotten Heidi to not just fall in love with himself. But with his alias as well.
Heidi got closer to Mysterion and grabbed his hands.
"I don't know if this all sounds crazy but I think I'm kind of inlove with you. I don't know if you reciprocate or if you even can. But missed I-I can't help it. The way you helped me and made me feel...it means so much. And it pours into my feelings. It's crazy. I know that. But I-
Heidi failed to finish her sentence. She was slowly getting closer to Kenny's lips.
Kenny had no idea how to respond. How could he? It was like in the movies when the super hero had to tell the girl the truth. But that was normally after they started going out and Heidi had kinda of killed things at the pond. If they were deeper into a relationship, then things may have been easier.
But doesn't this just make things easier...Didn't it? All he had to do was tell her and boom, they could be a thing. She did have feelings for both himself and Mysterion. It could be just that easy.
Still, although he trusted Heidi, could Kenny intrust her with his secret? She didn't tell him when they were at the pond so maybe that was proof enough.
Still, how would she react if she found out if it was Kenny of all people. She had been getting to know two sides of the same guy. Both toying around with her feelings.
Although he hadn't used any of that against her, he still felt wrong. She was defiantly trying to kiss him.
That don't align with Kenny's morals. Letting someone kiss him while they didn't even know who he was. Especially someone they just turned down.
"Heidi…"Kenny let out in a quiet voice. He said this in his normal voice and not in his Mysterion voice.
Heidi failed to notice the tone change and continued moving her lips towards Kenny's.
Kenny would have no choice and gritted his teeth before doing what needed to be done.
Grabbed Heidi by the shoulders.
"Heidi stop!"Kenny shouted in his normal voice
Heidi's eyes widened and her face became stale.
She thought her ears were deceiving her. After all, she would recognize that voice anywhere.
Heidi had to take a step back.
"Kenny?"Heidi asked
Kenny exhaled and put began to pull back his hood. After which, he took off the mask from underneath.
With the mask in hand, Kenny looked at Heidi. He then proceeded to smile and stretch out his arms.
Heidi said nothing put a hand to her face. Closing her eyes as she couldn't quiet believe the situation she was in.
"Wait...it was you? This whole time…"Heidi said as she pointed towards Kenny.
"Well ya."Kenny responded
Heidi unveiled her face from her hand and looked back at Kenny.
"That's not possible."Heidi said
"Uuu ya. It is. Seeing is believing so…"Kenny said
"Well it isn't..have you been spying on me or something?"
"What? No!"
"The real Mysterion must becoming sooner, then I can prove that your an imposter."
"What?"Kenny questioned
Heidi moved past Kenny and put her hands together.
"MYST!"Heidi shouted aloud.
Kenny developed a confused look on his face and grabbed Heidi by her hands.
"Heidi, I'm the real Mysterion!"Kenny said
"No your not."Heidi responded
Kenny was getting a little frustrated with Heidi's ignorance. He decided that he would really have to put his foot down to prove a point.
"Yes I am! I'm fucking Mysterion!"Kenny exclaimed
"No, I don't believe that you would do that."Heidi said
"Do what?"
"Play me like that."
"Play you?"
"Ya, you played me Kenny. You were two different people and played with my emotions. Made me feel so guilty for picking one over the other. You toyed with my emotions Kenny and you know I don't fuck with that shit."Heidi said
Kenny was getting upset at Heidi's accusation. As if he would do something like that.
"Cmon Heidi, you know damn well that it isn't like that."Kenny said
"Then what is it like then?!"Heidi said aloud
"I dunno it just fuckin happened alright. You were all depressed and shit. And I was able to help through myself and Mysterion. Is it that fucking terrible that I want to help some through their shit?"
"I'm not that weak Kenny. I thought you would know that better than anyone. You just had to be honest for the beginning I would have kept everything a secret."
Heidi was making Kenny feel dumb. It was something that really bothered Kenny and he normally associated it when people were trying to mock him for his family's poverty. This struck a bit of a nerve.
"It's not that fucking simple. I got a lot of people I have to worry about. And adding another person to that shit makes things complicated. Also, not that weak? Why were you being edgey or something? Trying to be cynical like some fucking goth kid?"Kenny struck back
This ticked Heidi off. She knew that her pain was all too real. Kenny should know that better than anyone.
"What you think all that was fake or some shit? Just because someone didn't completely depend on you to save them?"Heidi asked
Heidi procceded to put a hand on her head
"Oo great hero, thank you for saving me from my own mental scape. What would I be without you, wise hero Mysterion."Heidi said in a mocking tone.
Heidi finished her sarcastic monologue and folded her arms while she furrowed her brow.
"Cut that shit out. I'm not fucking like that. God, if you would just listen to me it wouldn't be like this!"Kenny said
"Like what? Huh Kenny? You pulling this shit on me? Shit you know I'm vunerable too?"Heidi responded
"Don't act like I'm fucking Cartman!"
"Well then stop acting like him!"
"YOU WOULD FUCKING KNOW!"
"FUCK YOU!"
"NO, FUCK YOU! WHY ARE YOU MAKING THIS SO COMPLICATED?! IM BOTH OF THE GUYS YOU LIKE. SO FUCKING WHY ARE YOU BEING LIKE THIS?!"
"BECAUSE YOUR BEING LIKE CARTMAN!"
"WHAT? Because I'm protecting you from the truth?"
"AND YOU HAD TO VIOLATE MY TRUST AND PLAY WITH MY EMOTIONS?"
"WELL THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULDN'T BE SUCH A DUMB, PATHETIC BITCH!"Kenny said
Heidi's arms dropped from their folded position and she took a step back. Her expression changed to mixture of suprise, shock, and pain.
Tears began to well up in her eyes. Heidi began to back up.
Kenny had just realized what he had said to Heidi. And to him, it seemed no different than what Cartman would have said
"You were never the person or the hero I thought you were."Heidi said before turning way.
She began to run away towards the street with tears streaming down her cheeks.
"Heidi, that's not what I-...please..we can.."The words failed to come out of Kenny's mouth.
Heidi was gone from Kenny's view.
Kenny fell to his knees. He was soaking wet. Water filled every part of his outfit. Kenny couldn't be bothered to actually care about something as minimal as this.
"What the fuck have I done."Kenny said to himself as he looked up at the sky.
And like that we are one step closer to the ending of this part of the fic. I really had to sit back and try to play this argument out in my head a few different times. I hope it shows. Since thier was no physical issue between Heidi and Kenny(with the exception of Cartman), I had to find some mental qualms for them to argue over. Such as the Heidi's flow of emotion being thrown into wack by Mysterion and Kenny. Being put through something like that does tend to upset people. At least people I've known. You just get so mentally frustrated with yourself so you feel like you need to be alone rather than with somebody. And to have those people be the same person does kind of make you go like "what the hell? I totured myself over this shit and it's like this?". And with Kenny, he does have certain ticks that might set him off if touched in any sort of way. I hope to get the next chapter out sooner rather than later. I hope you all enjoyed and wouldn't mind commenting or critiqueing down below. Love y'all and I hope you all have a great day(or night based on where you live.
