A new day, a new quiet life in the Fenton Work's household/ghost hunting lab. Starting with a more normal day, Jazz had taken Dash in and was trying to tutor him in basic geometry. However, the football jock found the teenager far more interesting than the boring math.

"Okay, in algebraic terms, "A" squared plus "B" squared equals "C" squared, where "C" is the hypotenuse while "A" and "B" are the sides of the triangle. (Looks up.) Got it?" she asked, looking from the paper at him.

Dash simply left out a dreamy sigh. "Ahh...

"Dash, you have to Focus! I'm doing a Thesis on tutoring the un-tutorable, and you're disproving my thesis that nobody's un-tutorable!" she exclaimed, hands on the air.

"You know, you're beautiful when you use the word *Scratching his head* untu-untu-un...uh...whatever that word is" he went back staring at her.

That was when the two Halfa decided to walk from the basement stairs. Dash was busy drinking a glass of water, eyes closed with Lina slightly in front of him. Entering the kitchen she came to a sudden halt once she spotted the football quarterback and bully.

This caused Danny to bump on her and frown. Opening his eyes, he was met with the same sight.

"Dash! W-what are you doing here?" he asked while Lina was busy staring, shocked.

While she stood there, Danny tried to look cool by leaning against his drink on the table. His arm turned intangible and he ended up falling through the table. It caused Dash's homework to fly everywhere, including landing a book on Dash's head.

Now furious, the jock stood up. "Watch it, Fentonowski!"

By instinct, Lina moved in front of Danny and glared at Dash while her adopted brother backed away from the kitchen.

"Uh, sorry. I was just, uh, passing through" Danny exclaimed, grabbed Lina's wrist and quickly sprinted into his room.

Satisfied that the distractions were gone, Dash took the book off his head and reached into his jacket. "Now that that twinkie's out of the way *Pulls out invitation* you're coming to my party Saturday, right? It'll be a chance for you to see me in my rightful setting *Hands Jazz the invite* king of Casper High."

Unimpressed and actually annoyed, she looked at him as she also stood up. "And a great place to work on my thesis on the effects of being mean to my brother and then asking me out. *Looks at the invite* Hmm. I'll go, on one condition."

Once they realized the area was clear, the duo headed back to the basement only to find their father holding a new machine. A modified vacuum like equipment which he held with pride.

"Hey, Danny! Lina! Check out my latest innovation in ghost-grabbing technology, the Ghost Weasel! It collects ambient ghost energy and shoots it into the Ghost Zone" he said and showed them the machine.

The two halfa exchanged a look.

"Does it work?" Danny asked.

"Why wouldn't it? Only one way to find out."

Lina leaned to Danny's ear. "I have a bad feeling about this."

Right after, Jack turned on the Ghost Weasel. It started to suck on loose papers that were close to him before it was landed on the same line as the Fenton Thermos. In seconds, the metallic cylinder was sucked too but ended up stuck in the opening.

Jack struggled to remove the thermos but failed miserably. "Darn it! Better get the Fenton Unlodger" he placed the machine on the ground, handed Danny the nozzle and run-off.

"Dad, couldn't you just throw it into..." the boy tried to say but the man was long gone. He looked at Lina who shrugged her shoulders before he pressed the "REVERSE" button on the Ghost Weasel. It ended up shooting the thermos out and towards the female Halfa who had walked away. She turned intangible by instinct, allowing the thermos to pass through. Only for it to hit the "ON" button of the Ghost Portal, whose doors opened up. "Reverse?!"

"Oh no," Lina exclaimed as she quickly turned and backed away from the portal and quickly took her ghost form.

A ghost flew out, laughing maniacally at his new freedom. "Children! You have freed me, Technus, ghost master of science and electrical technology!"

"Oh no, you don't!" Danny shouted as he jumped in the air and also went ghost. "You're not going to use the technology in this lab to take over the world!"

Technus looked around the lab. "What? That's a great idea! Have you ever considered tutoring?"

Lina facepalmed, hard enough that the sound echoed across the lab. At the same time, Danny decided to charge Technus, who materialized a lightning rod in his hands and shook Danny with it, sending him spiralling backwards.

"Hey!" Lina shouted as she quickly charged at him as well.

Technus tried to shock her the same way, but she turned intangible, passing right through him before she solidified herself right behind him. Before he could react, he received a good kick at the side of his neck, and he was sent flying on a close-by table.

"You know what? I've already been dumped on once in my own house" Danny said and grabbed the chance to pick up the nozzle of Ghost Weasel. "And that's enough for one day!"

He turned the machine on, sucking Technus in with a bunch of papers. The Weasel then started to suck in some lab equipment.

"Stop it, Danny!" Lina shouted and tried to grab the machine and close it but before she could, it exploded.

The force sent her back and she found herself covered with green go, which was also all over the lab. She pulled a disgusting face while Danny floated with a worried look while holding the broken nozzle.

"Danny, Lina… I'm coming back, and I can't wait to see the lab looking exactly as I left it" Jack's voice reached them, and they started to panic. Lina quickly phased out through the ceiling, and he followed suit, just as Jack came in. He looked around critically before smiling. "Yep. Perfect"

Into the Nasty Burger, our heroes were sitting at a booth. The two Halfa as per usual were sitting together on one side, their friends on the other. They were all busy with their orders. Well, almost all.

"So, Saturday night plans" Sam started, trying to earn the attention of Danny who was starring off. "I say we hit the amusement park. I hear the new roller coaster has a free fall that'll take three years off your life expectancy."

Lina grinned. "I am in."

The two girls high fived each other. One of the reasons they were such good friends was their common interest in cool, edgy stuff. Lina was not afraid of crazy roller coasters. Heck, she was secretly fighting ghosts as a ghost girl. A mere roller coaster would scare her?

Tucker shook his head in denial. "No way. It costs forty bucks just to get in there, not to mention food and stuff."

Sam shrugged her shoulder. "Hey, if you're tapped out, I could lend you the cash."

"'Lend' means *Making air quotes* 'repay' and 'repay' is out of my reach," he said, and Lina rolled her eyes. Then, the geek turned to his other friend. "Right, Danny?" only to notice that he was not listening to them. "Danny? Hello?!"

The three friends looked outside, curious as to what made Danny space out like that. They were not surprised when they saw it was Dash who was handing out party invitations to his friends, who cheered. Dash then handed an invite to Paulina and winked at her.

"Great. It's the hottest party of the whole school year, and Paulina's going, and I'm not, again" the halfa complained and his adopted sister shook her head.

"I don't understand what you see in her" Sam exclaimed, once again jealous of how Danny showed this love-sick puppy mode for a very swallow girl.

"Are you kidding? She's only, like, perfectly flawless".

They all looked at the said girl who was busy telling her order to the cashier. "Okay, uh, let me get the Mighty Meaty Cheesy Melt. Um, how meaty is that?"

The cashier looked at her bored. "That would be "Mighty" meaty."

"Well, can I get it a "Might"-less meaty?"

"That's one Mighty Mini Meaty Cheesy Melt," he said, typing it and earning a smile from her.

"You're right. She's a goddess" Sam replied sarcastically.

"Honestly, I am surprised she is even here. Thought she would stick to salads. You know for her 'diet'" Lina commented, pulling a face.

"Why don't we get invited to the really cool parties? We've got style, charm, good looks. At least I do, anyway"

"Dream on. On the social circuit, we're as invisible as Danny and Lina in their ghost mode. Not that it'll matter five years from now, but we have each other, right?" Sam said and Lina was about to answer when Dash appeared out of nowhere.

He slapped an invitation in Danny's face. "Here! Your sister made me invite you."

Sam and Tucker smile hopefully at Dash, Lina holds herself from making a rude gesture at the bully. He pointed at Danny. "Just you! Show up, shut it, go home, and nobody gets hurt" and he left, just like that.

Danny smiled at the invitation just as a random girl walked by and waved at him. "Hey, Danny!"

Another Jock, named Kwan, walked up to the table. "What's up, Fenton? *Raises arms* Party!" he left.

Paulina was quick to pass by and also wave. "See you Saturday, Danny."

Danny smiled and hugged the invitation. "I'm...I'm invited! I've arrived!"

Sam rolled her eyes. "Swell. Send us a postcard from Popularity-ville"

The male halfa had already stood up and was running out of the Nasty Burger. "I will!"

Lina shook her head and left out a sigh. She then rested her chin on the table. "I do not like this"

As Lina had said, her bad feeling proved quite right by the very next day. Danny had already let his ego and his craving for popularity control his mind, changing his character partially and that not sitting well with his friends.

As they walked towards their school, Lina elbowed Tucker and motioned with her head at Danny, who was busy as per usual daydreaming of the party.

"Seriously, Danny. Ever since you got that invitation, you're all about the "In" crowd" he said.

Danny of course denied it in seconds. "Come on, Tuck. *Chuckling* That's ridiculous. *Stops and pumps fist in air* Kwan! Looking good!

At that moment, the said Jock who was buys talking to a girl turned. He pointed at Danny with a grin. "Fentonmeister! *Raises arms* Woohoo!"

Lina shook her head and left out a sigh. Sam, getting tired of this decided to also have a saying in the discussion. "He's right, Danny. It's like—" she never managed to finish her sentence because someone interrupted them.

"Hey, Fenton!" Dash shouted as he stood with Dale and another Jock, holding a magazine. "Come here!"

Without wasting a second, Danny raced over to the popular football team leader, causing his friends to stop walking. "-we're not even here." Sam continued; half defeated.

"He is like a dog, running once called" the female halfa replied, hands folded in front of her chest,

"If you're coming to my party, you have to look the part. *Handing Danny magazine. It has high-end clothes on the cover* This is what we're all wearing Saturday. Very high-end, very hip, very Dash. You do have one, right?"

Danny was shocked for a moment but quickly covered it. "Huh? Uh, yeah! Oh, sure. I-I have two. That's how hip and high-end I am"

"Well, wear one. I might have had to invite you, but if you embarrass me, your sister's going to be doing her thesis on your bruises!" with those words, Dash walked off as the trio approached the now scared halfa.

"Oh, man. *Looks at magazine* This must cost a fortune! Where am I going to get the money by Saturday?" Danny asked, looking pale. Lina was about to make a nasty remark about karma but Sam started speaking first.

"You know, I almost hate to offer—" of course, she did not manage to finish her sentence this time either.

"Hey, Danny!" Paulina shouted as he was sitting on a blanket with a stereo and waving a music album around. "You wanna hear my new CD? It's really crunk!"

The male halfa quickly turned to Tucker. "Is crunk good?"

"It's Paulina." His friend replied.

"Crunk's good! *To Paulina* Be right there!" and just like that, he was gone. Leaving his close friends behind for the popular girl.

Lina's eyes flashed red and she glared at Danny who dared to dump her like that. Sam was not happy either as she tried to control her own temper, watching her crush acting this way for another girl.

"Okay, this is getting really annoying"
