Marinette and her friends sat around the room, to watch a movie marathon. Zach was with Marinette, making snacks, while the others checked when the marathon started.
"So, we have another hour before it begins?" asked Zach
"Yeah, I can't wait, I've been waiting for weeks for this marathon" said Alya
"We all have, I'm surprised my dad was okay with this" said Adrien
Zach picked up the TV guide.
"So, what's the first...oh my god..." said Zach
"What is it?" asked Alya
"It's Alec Cataldi, apparently tonight is the debut of his new game show" said Zach
"Oh, good for him" said Marinette
The teens sat and got ready for the start of the marathon.
==Tomorrow==
The teens were in school getting ready for class to begin.
"Best movie night ever!" said Nino
"I know, we should do that more often" said Zach
"Maybe we can do it at Adrien's place next time?" asked Alya
"Hey, you guys see the news this morning?" asked Marinette
"No, what is it?" asked Nino
"Alec Cataldi's new game show got cancelled, apparently people found the rules of the game too confusing" said Marinette
"Aw, that's too bad" said Adrien
Chloe walked in, a big smile on her face.
"I have amazing news" said Chloe
"You got expelled?" asked Zach
"Swine" said Chloe
"Chicken Legs" said Zach
"Troglodyte" said Chloe
"Brunette" said Zach, with a smirk
Chloe gasped at Zach's insult.
"Okay that's enough, Chloe, what's your news?" asked Adrien
"Thanks to daddy, I was able to get spots as contestants on the next episode of Cataldi's new game show, and I get to bring my friends as teammates" said Chloe
"Uh, Chloe, I'm sad to say, actually, I'm delighted to tell you that you won't be appearing on the show" said Zach
"Oh, and why not?" asked Chloe
"Sorry, Chloe, but Cataldi's show was cancelled after the first episode because everyone found it too confusing" said Alya
"WHAT?! But, that's impossible..." said Chloe
Zach held the news report on his phone to Chloe.
"Aw man, I was really looking forward to appearing on TV" said Chloe
Chloe walked to her seat.
"Man, Zach, you really enjoy insulting Chloe, I get that she's mean, but why do you hate her so much?" asked Marinette
"Oh, come on, Marinette, I don't hate her, heck, I don't hate anybody, I just find it fun to knock people off their high horse" said Zach
==Meanwhile==
Alec Cataldi sat in his dressing room in disappointment. He had worked hard on his game show, and he had just been told that it would be cancelled after 1 episode because it was too confusing.
==Hawkmoth's Lair==
"We all have dreams, and it's a shame when those dreams are crushed" said Hawkmoth
A white butterfly flew into Hawkmoth's hand, he covered it with his other hand as it was engulfed in a dark energy, turning it black and purple.
"Fly away my little akuma and evilize him"
==Cataldi's Dressing Room==
Cataldi stared at the microphone in his hands, when the akuma flew into it.
"King Quiz, I am Hawkmoth, you worked hard to make your dream a reality only to have it taken from you, I can give you the power to make them regret ruining your hard work, all I ask in return is you bring me Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous" said Hawkmoth
"Sounds good to me, Hawkmoth" said Alex
A dark aura enveloped Alec, when it cleared his skin had turned light blue, he was wearing a purple coloured suit, his microphone had turned gold and a crown now sat atop his head.
==Meanwhile==
Arlette was in her office doing some paperwork, when the door burst open and King Quiz walked in.
"Hello Arlette" said King Quiz
Arlette froze in fear as King Quiz approached.
==Later==
Marinette was on her computer looking for some inspiration for some new designs, when she got a notification on her phone.
"What's happening now?" asked Marinette
"Nadja Chamack here, this just in, Executive Producer of TVi, Arlette Dupree, has been captured by an unknown indiv..." said Nadja, before the screen went to static
"Huh?" asked Marinette
When the static stopped, King Quiz appeared on screen.
"This is a message to the heroes of Paris, Ladybug, Cat Noir, Nightwolf, Rena Rouge, Carapace and Queen Bee, my name is King Quiz, if you are curious about how Arlette is doing, she's safe, for now, if you wish for her to stay that way, just come to the TVi Studio, I'm willing to negotiate" said King Quiz
"Negotiate?" asked Marinette
"You think he can be trusted?" asked Tikki
"I don't think so, but we should hear him out..." said Marinette
"TIKKI! SPOTS ON!"
Marinette brushed her hair out of the way as Tikki flew into Marinette's earring. Both of Marinette's earrings turned red and 5 black spots donned the surface of the earrings.
Marinette covered her eyes before moving her hands away to affix her mask.
Marinette stretched out one arm as a bright pink light pasted Marinette's suit onto her.
Marinette's Yo-Yo materialized around Marinette's waist.
With a little dance and a high kick, Marinette posed as her transformation into Ladybug was complete.
Ladybug made her way to Master Fu's place to get the other miraculous, since King Quiz was asking for all the heroes. When Ladybug recruited Carapace, Rena Rouge and Queen Bee, she arrived at the TVi studio, where the other heroes were waiting.
"So, what's the plan?" asked Queen Bee
"We go in and see what he has to say, but be prepared for a fight" said Ladybug
"Sounds good to me" said Carapace
The heroes made their way inside, finding the studio King Quiz was in, the same one that had been used for Cataldi's game show.
"We're here King Quiz, now, you said you wanted to negotiate" said Ladybug
"Glad you could make it, heroes" said King Quiz
"Yeah, yeah, what do you want?" asked Queen Bee
"I want to challenge you heroes to a little game" said King Quiz
"A game?" asked Nightwolf
"A special episode of my show, if you win, I'll surrender my akuma willingly and release Arlette, but if you lose, you all surrender your miraculous" said King Quiz
"Do you really think we'd fall for that?" said Rena
"Do you think you have a choice, if you don't play, I will never release Arlette" said King Quiz
"Alright, deal" said Ladybug
The other heroes looked at Ladybug in shock
"Perfect, but first, we need your opponents for the game" said King Quiz
King Quiz fired 6 balls of light from his microphone, which went out the door and in different directions. Several people walked up to the cameras and started rolling. All over Paris, on every screen, the show started to live stream. The heroes stood at 6 podiums on the left of the studio.
"WELCOME TO CANCELLED!" said King Quiz
The show's theme music played as the stage lit up.
"I'm your host, King Quiz, we have a special episode tonight, as we have the heroes of Paris playing for the freedom of the network executive, Arlette, BUT, as you know, this is a game for 2 teams, so let's bring out their opponents, first, he's the mayor of the akumas, give it up for MALEDIKTATOR!..." announced King Quiz
Queen Bee gasped as Malediktator took his place at a podium opposite from her.
"...Next, she's the psycho spider lady that doesn't need 8 legs to kick your butt, ANANSI!..." announced King Quiz
Carapace went wide-eyed as he saw Anansi crawl to the podium.
"...He's an expert in shapes, particularly, Pyramids, PHARAOH!..." announced King Quiz
Rena Rouge scowled as Pharaoh flew to his podium, before changing from his Horus form to his normal form.
"...This lovely lady has a great career to reflect on, MADAME MIRROR!..." announced King Quiz
Nightwolf was shocked as Madame Mirror approached the podium.
"...He may be an imitation, but he's still the coolest feline around, COPYCAT!..." announced King Quiz
Cat Noir scowled as Copycat strutted to the podium.
"...And finally, the team captain, the great mistress of illusions, VOLPINA!" announced King Quiz
Ladybug gritted her teeth as Volpina walked to the podium with a smirk on her face.
"You know the rules, you go head to head answering questions, if you get the question right, you're safe, if you get it wrong, or if your opponent buzzes first, you're CANCELLED! Last team with at least one member left is the winner" said King Quiz
"Yeah, let's get this over with" said Ladybug
"Oh, and one more rule for this episode..." said King Quiz
King Quiz snapped his fingers and chains emerged from the podiums, restraining everyone's wrists.
"...No Powers" said King Quiz
"This is ridiculous" said Queen Bee
"Well, the akuma's are restrained too, so at least it's fair" said Cat Noir
"Tonight's category will be 'Akumas'..." said King Quiz
"What? That's no fair" said Nightwolf
"...First up is Queen Bee vs. Malediktator..." said King Quiz
Queen Bee and Malediktator hovered their hands over their buzzers.
"The question is, 'What was the akumatized item of Vanisher'?" asked King Quiz
Queen Bee pressed the buzzer.
"Queen Bee..."
"A brooch" said Queen Bee
"THAT IS CORRECT, Queen Bee makes it through to round 2, but, Malediktator, I'm sorry...you're CANCELLED" said King Quiz
King Quiz snapped his fingers and Malediktator transformed into a small gold trophy. The heroes stood in shock.
"Next question is for Carapace and Anansi..." said King Quiz
Carapace and Anansi hovered their hands over the buzzers.
"The question is, 'What is the real name of the akumatized villain, Animan'?" asked King Quiz
Carapace almost hit the buzzer, but Anansi was slightly faster.
"Anansi..."
"Otis Cesaire" said Anansi
"CORRECT, Anansi, you're safe for now, Carapace, I'm sorry...you're CANCELLED!" said King Quiz
With a snap of the fingers, Carapace was transformed into a trophy.
==Hawkmoth's Lair==
"Hm, I'm not normally one for game shows, but I think this one has potential"
==Game Show==
"Question number 3 is for Rena Rouge and Copycat" said King Quiz
"Huh? Why is he putting Rena against Copycat" thought Ladybug
"The question is, 'Name 2 music themed akumas'" said King Quiz
Copycat tried to think while Rena slammed her hand on the buzzer.
"Rena Rouge..."
"Guitar Villain and Frightingale" said Rena
"Correct, Rena is safe for now, but Copycat, you're CANCELLED!"
King Quiz snapped his fingers and Copycat was transformed into a trophy.
"Nightwolf, you're up next against Volpina, the question is 'Complete the name of this akuma, 'Trouble...'?" asked King Quiz
Volpina quickly hit the button.
"Volpina..." said King Quiz
"Troublemaker" said Volpina
"That is the right answer, well done Volpina, but Nightwolf...you're..."
King Quiz snapped his fingers and Nightwolf was transformed into a trophy.
"...CANCELLED!"
"This is intense" said Cat Noir
"Don't worry, kitty, we can still win" said Ladybug
"Next question is for Cat Noir and Madame Mirror, 'What was the name of the Valentine...'?" asked King Quiz
Cat Noir hit the buzzer before King Quiz finished answering the question.
"Hm, buzzing in early, it's Cat Noir..."
"Dark Cupid" said Cat Noir
"The full question was 'What was the name of the Valentine akuma'? Dark Cupid is the correct answer, sorry, Madame Mirror, you've been CANCELLED!"
King Quiz snapped his fingers and Madame Mirror was turned into a trophy.
"And Cat Noir, good news for you, since you answered before hearing the full question, you get the privilege of coming up with the next question" said King Quiz
"Really? Alright, hm..." said Cat Noir
"You better hope it's an easy one, your team captain is up next against Pharaoh" said King Quiz
"Alright, I got it" said Cat Noir
"Then, let's hear it" said King Quiz
"What was the name of the first akuma?" asked Cat Noir
Ladybug quickly hit the buzzer.
"Ladybug, what's your answer?" asked King Quiz
"Stoneheart" said Ladybug
"That is CORRECT, Ladybug's team lead going into round 2, with 4 players to Volpina's 2, Pharaoh, I'm afraid...you're CANCELLED!"
King Quiz snapped his fingers and turned Pharaoh into a trophy.
"We're gonna take a little break, but join us in round 2, after these messages" said King Quiz
The lights dimmed as King Quiz walked off.
"What are you doing? Ladybug's team are in the lead" said Hawkmoth
"Don't worry, Hawkmoth, it's going according to plan" said King Quiz
"It better be" said Hawkmoth
Meanwhile, the remaining heroes were talking about the game.
"This is easy, we're destroying them" said Cat Noir
"Don't get too confident, Cat Noir, this is seeming TOO easy so far, I think they have a couple tricks up their sleeves" said Ladybug
"She's right, I have a feeling this is going to get harder" said Rena
The lights came back on again and King Quiz stood on the stage again.
"Welcome back, currently, Ladybug's team has only lost Carapace and Nightwolf, while Volpina has lost Malediktator, Pharaoh, Madame Mirror and Copycat, now, since Volpina's team has less points and less teammates, both Volpina and Anansi are given a bonus chance each, meaning they need to be Cancelled twice before they are eliminated, onto Round 2, first question will be for Anansi and Queen Bee" said King Quiz
Queen Bee and Anansi hovered their hands over the buzzers.
"Now, 'What is the real name of the akuma known as Zombizou'?" asked King Quiz
Anansi was quicker on the buzzer.
"No way would Anansi know this one" thought Ladybug
"Anansi, what's the answer?"
"I don't know, I pass"
"Why would Anansi buzz if she doesn't know the answer?" thought Queen Bee
"I'm sorry, Anansi, but thankfully, since you have a bonus chance, you're still in the game, Queen Bee, do you have an answer?" asked King Quiz
"Zombizou's real name is Caline Bustier" said Queen Bee
"That is correct, but I'm afraid, since you buzzed in late, you must be penalized, so no points, and also..." said King Quiz
King Quiz snapped his fingers and Queen Bee was transformed into a trophy.
"...You're CANCELLED!"
"Hey, you can't do that" said Ladybug
"Actually, I can, I did explain the rules..."
King Quiz gestured to a monitor which replayed what he said at the beginning of the game.
"You know the rules, you go head to head answering questions, if you get the question right, you're safe, if you get it wrong, or if your opponent buzzes first, you're CANCELLED! Last team with at least one member left is the winner" said King Quiz
Ladybug didn't know what to say, she had no comeback.
"Next question is Volpina vs. Rena Rouge, 'Which akuma is the odd one out, Santa Claws, Glaciator, Syren or Frozer'?" asked King Quiz
Volpina buzzed first.
"Volpina..."
"Syren" said Volpina
"That's right, Syren is not an ice or snow akuma, Rena Rouge, however, you've been CANCELLED!"
King Quiz snapped his fingers and Rena was turned into a trophy.
"Now, Volpina, you are through to the next round, would you prefer to answer another question this round, or would you rather give your extra chance to your teammate?" asked King Quiz
"I'll give the chance to my teammate" said Volpina
"Very well, Anansi has another chance added, meaning she needs to be cancelled 2 more times to be eliminated, Anansi, your next challenger is Ladybug, the question is, 'How many times has a miraculous hero been akumatized whilst a hero'?" asked King Quiz
Ladybug was first to buzz in.
"Ladybug..." said King Quiz
"Four, Queen Bee was akumatized into Queen Wasp twice, Rena Rouge into Rena Rage and Carapace into Shell Shock" said Ladybug
"That is correct, Anansi, you are down to your last chance and your opponent is Cat Noir" said King Quiz
"Bring it" said Anansi
"The question is...Who was the first civilian to be akumatized twice?" asked King Quiz
Cat Noir was able to buzz first.
"Cat Noir..." said King Quiz
"Stoneheart" said Cat Noir
"That is correct, I am sorry Anansi, but that does mean...you're CANCELLED" said King Quiz
"Too bad" said Anansi with a smile
King Quiz snapped his fingers and Anansi was turned into a trophy.
"We're going to take a quick break, but be sure to join us for the final part of...CANCELLED!" said King Quiz
The lights dimmed and King Quiz walked off stage.
"See, Milady, this is too easy" said Cat Noir
"Exactly, Kitty, it's TOO easy, but now I know what they're up to, in the next round, Volpina will be given a second chance again, she'll use it to trick one of us into an elimination and then be given an easy question to take out the other" said Ladybug
"So what are we going to do?" asked Cat Noir
Thankfully for Ladybug, the chains around her wrists still had enough slack to reach her Yo-Yo, which she opened and pulled out a paperclip. King Quiz returned.
"We're back for the final part of Cancelled, Volpina is alone against Ladybug and Cat Noir, so she has an extra chance, the first question of the round, 'Who was the true identity of the akumatized villain, 'The Collector'?" asked King Quiz
Cat Noir hit the buzzer, but Volpina was a little faster.
"Volpina..." said King Quiz
"Hm, pass" said Volpina
"Shame, that means you lose one chance, Cat Noir?" asked King Quiz
"Gabriel Agreste was The Collector" said Cat Noir
"That is correct, however, as you know, for buzzing in late, you're...CANCELLED!" said King Quiz
King Quiz smirked as Cat Noir was turned into a trophy.
"The final question, 'What was the very first illusion done by Volpina'?" asked King Quiz
Volpina hit the buzzer, but Ladybug smirked.
"Ooh, Volpina, you need to get this right to win" said King Quiz
"My first illusion was a meteor strike prevented by me" said Volpina
"CORRECT, that means we have our winners, THE AKUMAS, so Ladybug, I'm sorry, but you're..." said King Quiz
"I don't think so..." said Ladybug
Ladybug threw her Yo-Yo and snatched away King Quiz's microphone
"What? How?" asked King Quiz
"It's very easy to pick the lock" said Ladybug
Volpina tried to attack Ladybug, but her chains stopped her from moving. Ladybug smugly smashed the microphone on the ground, releasing the akuma.
"No more evil doing for you, little akuma" said Ladybug as she opened her yo-yo
"Time to de-evilize!"
Ladybug captured the purple akuma in her yo-yo.
"Gotcha!"
Ladybug released the akuma, now pruified into a white butterfly.
"Bye-bye, little butterfly" said Ladybug
Ladybug watched as the butterfly flew away.
"Hm, something's missing, oh I know..." said Ladybug
"LUCKY CHARM!"
Ladybug flung her Yo-Yo high into the air. Energy shot out from the yo-yo before creating a trophy.
"Hm, a trophy, I guess we know who the real winners are here, King Quiz..." said Ladybug
"MIRACULOUS LADYBUG!"
An explosion of pink energy dispersed into a swarm of ladybugs that flew around the studio, repairing all the damage caused by King Quiz, and reverting him back to normal, along with the akumas he recruited.
"Huh? What happened?" asked Alec
==The Next Day==
"Welcome to CANCELLED..." said Alec
The teens were sat around Marinette's TV watching Alec's game show. After his akumatization, everyone was so eager to compete on the show that included the heroes of Paris, that the studio decided to revoke the show's cancellation.
"You gotta feel good for Alec, getting his show back" said Alya
"Yeah, by the way, Adrien, how did Chloe react when you said you weren't going to be on her team?" asked Zach
"She was disappointed, but she said she got a good team anyway" said Adrien
The teens looked to see Chloe's team of Sabrina, Kim, Butler Jean, Ms. Mendeleiev and Mr. Damocles.
==Later==
Zach was doing some research while Howll sat on his shoulder eating some bacon.
"Why did you lie?" asked Howll
"When did I lie?" asked Zach
"You lied to Marinette, when you said you didn't hate anyone, unless you forgot, there is someone that you hate, someone you loathe, someone you despise, someone who you won't stop until you have your revenge" said Howll
"Well, she didn't need to hear about...him" said Zach
