~ Shards of Sapphire ~
Jenna walked into the florist's shop, spotted Damon frowning over some flower arrangements, and almost turned around to walk right back out of the shop.
Instead, she decided to be a mature adult about this. She was on a mission to buy a tiny cactus that would live on Jeremy's desk (in a last-ditch effort to make her nephew care about something, anything), and she wasn't going to let Damon get in the way of that.
Of course, she'd barely taken two steps toward the counter when Damon turned and spotted her. She hadn't even had time to internally voice the hope that he wouldn't try to talk to her before his face lit up and he called out to her.
"Jenna! Perfect, since you're here, maybe you can help me."
"I don't work here," Jenna said.
"I never thought you did. I'm pretty sure you're a college student," Damon replied, unfazed by her apparent unwillingness to help him. "I could really use a woman's advice."
He gave her a pleading look.
Jenna sighed. This would be over with sooner if she just went along with it, she supposed.
"What?" she inquired impatiently.
"Is a bouquet of roses too cliche for a first date? Too corny?" Damon asked. His expression clearly said that he figured it might be, but was also what he really wanted to get. His expression twisted further as another thought struck him. "Is it extra corny if her name is Rose? Should I get something else instead, like... I don't know... daisies?"
Jenna was a little bit stunned by the revelation that Damon was apparently seeing someone named Rose and he seemed pretty desperate to impress his date. However, if this meant he would quit creeping on Elena in his brother's absence, then Jenna would put her full support behind his relationship with... whoever the mysterious Rose was.
"A full bouquet is going a little overboard for the first date," Jenna told him, and Damon's face crumpled into a deeply disappointed expression. "Maybe you should go with just one red rose."
Damon pondered that for a moment before apparently deciding it was a good idea.
"Thanks, Jenna," he said, shooting her a double finger-guns gesture. "You're a pal."
