~ Why Did It Have To Be Giant Snakes? ~
Geordo considered it a fortuitous turn of events when he and Katarina became separated from the rest of their friends in a mysterious forest... until they were attacked by a pair of monsters.
Why did it have to be giant snakes?!
The prince swept Katarina behind him and drew his sword as the massive reptiles advanced.
He felt a tug on the back of his jacket.
Katarina's puzzled murmur of "Aren't you.. .scared?" was nearly lost under the sound of an annoyed hiss from one of the snakes.
Of course I'm scared! he yelled internally, but he was more afraid that Katarina would get hurt than he was of the snakes themselves.
"Don't worry, I'll protect you," Geordo said. "Stay behind me."
Katarina, who had already started to move out from behind him (to do what, he didn't know - probably try to fight the snakes herself to protect him), froze up at this command. He couldn't trust her to follow it for long, which meant he needed to find a way to deal with the beasts quickly.
Aren't snakes afraid of fire?
And, with little more than that thought and his desperation to protect Katarina in mind, he summoned his magic.
When Geordo woke up, he found himself in a most fortuitous position, with his head resting in the lap of his beloved fiancee, and her fingers combing soothingly through his hair.
Ah, yes, and there was Katarina's lovely voice, explaining to the rest of their friends how he had gallantly defended her from the giant serpents.
"... and then he fainted," she concluded.
Alan, Keith, and Mary all started laughing.
Meanwhile, Nicol hovered anxiously near his sister as Sophia examined the charred remains of the snakes with great interest.
Why did it have to be giant snakes? Geordo lamented internally. He closed his eyes and pretended he was still unconscious, in order to delay having to deal with all the jokes the others would surely throw his way for having fainted.
