"All right; who killed Leni?" The voice of one Lori Loud uttered through the line. "First again dang it."

The eldest had chosen her usual blue for her jelly-bean esque spaceperson, and nine remaining siblings capable of playing had in turn taken their signature colours. Why mess with the classics after all?

Like Game Night, or Afternoon if enough kids were in the house by then.

Sure, Lori hadn't been able to play like she used to since moving to Fairway; but Luan's many trawls across the internet for humorous inspiration had revealed the viral game and it was easy to set up- so now the family could play together again! Albeit from separate rooms or in secluded sections of the vents on a phone, but together again anyway.

Lily of course was a bit too little to play still, so she got to sit and watch from Lisa's room- her antics being considered an ample handicap for the genius.

"Why does everyone always go for her first?" the eldest sighed, the meeting clock slowly clicking down to voting. "Seriously- it's like she's a magnet for murder."

"Wow, it's like she's a ditzy blonde in a slasher game or somethin'." Lynn snickered. "Gotta love an easy target."

"Awww, thanks Lynn!" Leni piped up with oblivious sincerity.

"Shhh, you're dead Bruv!"

"Oh, sorry guys!"

"Could we have some order here please?" Lori demanded exasperatedly, there was a brief murmur before the group quieted down. "All right; who can vouch for who?"

"I saw-"

"Dead Leni, you. Are. Dead!" Lori insisted. "That means you can't talk until the round ends, just wait until voting ends and do your tasks!"

"Okay!"

"Me, Lu an' Leese were in electrical."

"Lana and I were in weapons," Lola confirmed.

"I was doing the friggin' leaves thing again." Lynn asserted.

"I was searching for any remaining traces of my humanity-"

"Lucy was in MedBay, got it." Lori cut her off. "That just leaves… Lincoln, where were you?"

"Who me?"

Lori's eyeroll was nigh verbal, "no, the other guy named after a dead Presi- yes you!"

"Well it's funny you ask that, Lori." Lincoln's voice was dripping with smugness. "Why don't you go ahead and tell everyone else where you were first?"

"Hunh? Why?"

"Well I just find it odd that no one's vouched for you- and that you were the one who discovered the body, which was where exactly?" Lincoln leaned closer to his laptop microphone. "I mean, these are important details aren't they?"

"…. Oh no, no, no, no, no! You are not doing this to me Lincoln-"

"Nah, it's a good point brah-"

"If I say where the body is before getting everyone's story the imposter can-"

"No, I know where the body is too- navigation right?" Lincoln practically purred. "Pretty suspect that you're alone in there with the body…"

"… You're the imposter!" Lori hissed. "You literally couldn't have known unless-"

"Oh my dear, sweet sister," Lincoln laughed with evil in his voice. "I was on cameras the whole time, and I know for a fact that no one else went down to navigation except Leni, Luna, Lynn and then you just now."

"It's true Bruv, camera's been blinkin' on all round."

"And I'll vouch that Luna and me left before Leni karked it!" Lynn interjected.

"… It's them- don't you see it's them!" Lori deduced. "I only came in after, Leni's body has obviously been there a while or she would have left with them- there's no long tasks in navigation!"

"I would agree…" Lincoln mused. "But! We are talking about Leni here. She might not even know she's meant to align the crosshairs! It is entirely plausible that she spent the entire time in between Luna and Lynn's exit trying to move the wrong set of lines until you came in and ended her!."

"… Dang it." There was a defeated tone in Lori's voice.

"Look on the bright side Lori; looks like you're getting all that space you wanted after all!" Luan punned.

"Shut it!" Lori panicked, then realised something. "Lincoln, you said that you saw no one else coming down the corridor right?"

"Correct," Lincoln haughtily replied. "Not a single other person-"

"There's vents," Lori eyes the rapidly ticking down seconds to her demise. "The killer could have used them!"

"… That's true," Lincoln admitted and Lori's heart rise for the briefest moment. "But the most suspect thing is that no one else can vouch for you-"

"I was doing tasks in MedBay at the start!" Lori desperately interjected. "I even got scanned!"

"Lori…" Lincoln sighed. "I was in MedBay at the beginning. I never saw you."

Lori fell silent as her mind whirred.

"Good try Bruv, " ROCKSTAR VOTED. "Maybe get your story straight with the other guy first next time."

"I was on cameras," Lincoln reminded her. "I spent most of my turn there. Other people saw the lights on the cameras so I had to be there the entire time- unless someone else remembers being in security I'm pretty sure I'm not suss."

"I-"

"LENI YOU'RE DEAD!" Lori and a few other shouted.

LOUDQUEEN WAS EJECTED

"Spending your last breath on hate, what a fate." Lucy sighed

Luna's little purple bean man rushed from task to task, sticking with Luan's yellow bean man to avoid getting ganked. She had to admit, this was only her third game and she was having a lot of fun- messin' with Lori was always a riot when you could get away with it (like her being too far away to get you) but the entire thing was just a bit of cheap silly fun- just the kind of thing that Luan was best at making, or finding in this case.

A shame it had to end, as so many bean men's lives did:

In electrical after the lights went out.

Only she and Luan had returned there after the lights were sabotaged, and even though got the things working again they both were busy with tasks they'd dropped when Leni was found- when the kill animation suddenly started.

Luna helpless as Lynn's blood (not really but she was salty) red bean man smacked hers down and blew her friggin' brains out.

She stared for a moment before tossing her laptop aside and screaming into her pillow.

"AH FUCK ME!"

"Language Luna!"

"I found her body right when I heard her shout upstairs," Luan declared from the couch. "No one else was with us so they must've vented right after."

"Or…" Lola's high voice was raised in suspicion. "You knew the body would be found since Luna shouted and had to cover your tracks!"

"What- oh come on-"

"Two self-reports in a row would be a bad idea for the imposters." Lincoln pointed out. "And it didn't end well for Lori."

"Yeah well-"

"The cameras Lincoln!" Luan desperately plead. "You had to have seen-"

"There's no cameras outside of electrical, Suss Sibling Unit." Lisa calmly informed her. "Additionally, the only one who could have vouched for your innocence has unfortunately been removed from the 'witness stand' as it were."

"Wait, wait, wait!" Luan quickly thought. "Where was everyone?"

"Far away from your creepy claws Luan!" Lola cackled. "Lana and I were in admin doing the FRICKING CARD SWIPE!"

"Me and Luce were in shields an' storage- just doing tasks in between-"

"I was certain you were following me like a reaper raising her Scythe for an early harvest, I only escaped by-"

"The lights were out okay, I had to make sure you weren't dea-"

"Okay so Lucy, Lynn and the twins are accounted for." Lincoln interjected. "I was in cameras again, where were you Leese?"

There was a brief moment of silence before the little genius spoke up. "I was in MedBay, performing my scan-"

"The vents lead right there!" Luan gasped. "It's-"

"Either yourself or Lincoln obviously-"

"Lincoln!" Luan's voice turned suspicious. "You were the one who lead the charge against Lori!"

"But I was on your side a minute ago- and the cameras were always on!" Lincoln protested.

"It's true guys," Lana's rough voice piped up. "Camera was on when we went in admin anyway."

"Then it's Lisa, it has to be!" Luan accused.

APRILFOOL VOTED.

"Hardly," Lisa scoffed. "And your rapidfire accusations do nothing but discredit your case, as well as enhancing your position as the most 'suss' of any of us."

"Wait," Lucy suddenly spoke. "Lynn wasn't with me when the lights came back on."

"I lost you in the dark," Lynn replied with frustration. "Seriously- you chose black-"

"GUYS!" Lincoln interrupted. "Look, we don't have a clear suspect at the moment and there's only seven people left-"

"Yeah, 'never on seven' right?" Lana remembered.

"Yeah, if you toss someone the imposters can do a double kill and win in one turn!" Luan exclaimed.

"I think we got Lori last round, but unless we're absolutely certain about both Luan and Lori being imposters- we should skip this round and pair up." Lincoln offered. "Luan can come guard me at security, and the other pairs we had this round can stick together too. That way only Leese is alone= it'll be obvious who the baddie is if someone dies like that!'

"And what if it comes down to a matter of 'he-said-she-said'," Lisa sceptically reviewed. "If I were the killer I could simply kill one of the pairs out of sight of the cameras and it would be matter of whoever had the best 'poker voice' as it were."

"Its better than what we have now, and we're running out of time!" Lincoln pointed out, and suure enough the meeting time was ticked over to the last ten seconds.

Seven Remain.

It was a simple strategy.

Lisa knew her own bottle green 'spaceman' was not the murderous alien lifeform, and with her tasks done in her usual efficient manner all she needed to do was survive- and the best way to do that was to remain close to Lana and Lola. Lynn and Lucy had been separate the first round, and both Lincoln and Luan were suspect to Luna's murder.

So long as the three of the stuck together.

Stuck together-

"By Darwin's beard!" She swore. "Can you simpletons not understand a basic 'follow me' motion?"

Again and again Lisa's spaceman made short, rapid starts and stops towards the cafeteria- but Lana and Lola were apparently ignoring her as they went about their tasks.

"It has been a full 146 seconds since the last meeting- the killer has likely struck again!" Lisa bemoaned. "If there are two imposters then they likely only need one more kill- and not only will it be obvious who they are but at least one of their cooldowns will likely be-"

Completely finished.

Like Lisa's spaceman was as Lynn's imposter stuck its tongue through their victim's faceplate.

"All right Lynn, we saw you red handed!" Lola accused.

"Dang it- I thought I got the lights in time!" Lynn sighed. "Sorry Lu, looks like we're goin' down after all."

"Wait what?" Luan panicked. "No it- you can tell she's lying right- it's obvious!"

"It doesn't matter what she says now," Lincoln grimly declared. "She admitted her guilt and even with Lucy dead that's still three to one for the imposter- we'll know soon anyway!"

FOUR REMAIN.

The imposter was ever so slightly nettled.

They had been doing fine until Lynn lost her patience. From the looks of things she just offed Lucy as soon as she realised Lisa was sticking with the twins, so she had no one else to pin the body on and went on a rampage.

The sad thing is; if she'd just waited a second longer to let the lights finish receding post sabotage- she probably would have survived long enough to group up with her partner and the obvious lack of Lucy would have been a sign to start the massacre together.

Oh well- patience had never been the sporty sister's strong suit.

Now, the survivors marched towards electrical to fix the lights as one. If any of them deviated it would be clear suspicion.

But there was an obvious solution. Even as they reached the box it was clear to the last imposter that there was only one option-

A stack kill.

A very precise stack kill.

Quickly, while the lights were still off to stop the others from seeing their movements clearly they shifted slightly here and there to move their 'kill' target from one spacebean to the other. It was awkward since the others were also jiggling a bit but-

"Lola noooo!" Lana cried out in shock. "I… sometimes liked you. You frou frou princess."

"I TAKE THAT AS A COMPLIMENT!" Lola cried out from the basement.

"Lola you're dead." Lincoln reminded her.

"Dang it, fine." And the pageant princess silenced herself, and Lincoln his attention back to the

The three were at a showdown.

And it was up to Lana to decide who won.

"Uhhh," the tomboy groaned. "Why did it have to come down to me?"

"It's obvious," Lincoln explained. "You two were together the entire time, so there was no way you would vote for each other. Luan couldn't kill me and convince either of you it was the other, so she had to kill one of you."

"Wow Linc that's really smart and well thought out," Luan 'happily' complimented him. "WHICH IS WHY IT'S OBVIOUSLY YOU!"

"Why me?" Lincoln protested.

"Because you're always pulling those weird 'operations', long term shenanigans are right up your alley Mr Murderer!"

"You plan April Fools all year long- and my plans never go this well. You even said it yourself, it was well thought through- mine always fail because I really don't!" Lincoln sourly recalled every failed operation he'd conducted.

"Ahhh!' Lana pulled at her pigtails. "I can't tell who it is!"

"Lana, you have to vote off Linc- if we get it wrong he'll just needs one more kill to win!" Luan quickly threw out her reasoning; "remember the first round- he was the one who got Lori kicked off, he probably killed Leni and vented like she said!"

"That's impossible," Lincoln countred. "I was in security, and we all confirmed no one else was. Besides- the vents don't connect like that!"

"Well you would know that, wouldn't you?"

"Lana; listen to me- I was in security all this time. If I was an imposter then I-"

"Dang it," Lincoln sighed as the defeat screen played.

All the while whoops of victory echoed through the house.

"How did you know little dude?" Luna laughed. "I thought for sure we were gonna lose!"

"Pshhaww," Lana snorted. "It was easy when I realised something; Lincoln's great at convincing people at believing all kinds of stuff- but Luan's always got a kind of 'smile' to her voice when she's thinks she's gonna get one over you."

"I see, a valuable 'tell' for future games." A slightly miffed Lisa assessed. "As for our imposters- I assume that the two of you planned this strategy out in advance?"

"Nah, Linc just went to security and we kind of winged it from there."

Lola sounded confused, "really? It felt like-"

"Lynn!" Lincoln groaned. "How come you went right after Leni like that? I thought for sure Lori was going to put the vents thing together and you didn't have an alibi!"

"Wait what?" It was Lori's turn to be confused. "What's this 'vents thing'?"

"I believe our brother unit is referring to the manner by which the vents have a limited connection to one another- by simple process of elimination Lynn was the only one without someone to vouch for her innocence and the closest to your location via the vents. If you had made the connection at the very least you could have cast 'suss' on her, or even eliminated her entirely even if only for a 'one for one' ejection."

"Well I haven't played on this map much!" Lori groused. "And literally no one else put it together either- and that includes you!"

"Indeed," Lisa's voice took on a thoughtful tone. "Lincoln used his talent for deception and distraction to present a theory with enough 'pizzaz' to convince us to ignore the obvious evidence against Lynn, and not only eject a fellow crewmate but allow Lynn to persist in her efforts for far longer than her reckless approach warranted."

"I got you too Brainbox."

"… Shall we try another game? I would like to test my new knowledge of Luan's 'tells' and Lincoln's seeming lack thereof in the field."

"I'm game."

"Please don't kill me this time, being a ghost is totes drab."

"I'm up for it."

"Then if there are no objections… let the game begin!"

….

"Hey guys-"

"Leni, we've been over this; you're supposed to mute yourself."

"But I'm not dead, and there's all these new buttons now-"

"New button-"

SLAKK

"Like that one!"
