The Contest Part 1
The next morning, Ash registered for the Kanto Pokémon League & Contest Circuit while Mallow registered for the Contest Circuit. After registering, they went to an area to practice for the contest. They learned that they are allowed to use two different Pokémon in each round & they can use the same Pokémon they used in Appeal Round or they can use a different Pokémon in each battle in the Battle Round
"So, what Pokémon are you two gonna use?" Misty asked
"I'm gonna use these two." Ash said as he pulled out a diamond encrusted Luxury Ball & an Ultra Ball "Meowzie, Marahute, come on out!"
Ash sent out Meowzie & his Shiny Pidgey named Marahute
"Pidgey." Marahute chirped
"& I will use Bulbasaur & Pidgey!" Mallow said as she sent out her Bulbasaur & Pidgey
"Bulba." Bulbasaur said
"Pidgey." Pidgey said
"Those are good choices." Misty said "Is there a reason why you decided to nickname your Pokémon?"
"Well, since my friend Ritchie nicknames his Pokémon, I decide to nickname some of my Pokémon. But I only nickname the Pokémon I catch when I feel like it." Ash said
"Oh, okay." Misty understood
Unbeknownst to them, Team Rocket overheard them.
"So, there's gonna be a contest, huh?" Jessie said with interest
"What? Are you gonna enter it as well?" James asked
"Of course I am, I always wanted to be a Top Coordinator." Jessie said
(Back with the gang)
"Are you ready for your first contest, Meowzie?"
"You bet I am, it's my time to shine." Meowzie said with determination
"What about you Marahute?" Ash asked
"Pidgey." Marahute nodded
"Ash!" A voice yelled
They looked & saw Gary & boy was he angry
"Gary?" Ash said
"What's the big idea?!" Gary yelled angrily
"What are you talking about?" Ash asked
"I lost a bet against grandpa because of you, now I have to pay him 2 million Pokédollars." Gary said in outrage
"So? Why should I care?" Ash said
"You weren't supposed to catch any Pokémon." Gary said
"What, is there a rule that I can't catch any Pokémon?" Ash said sarcastically "It's not my fault you lost a bet, you never should've made that bet with Professor Oak in the first place."
"Why you little—." Gary said as he had a tick mark
"CHUUUUUUU!" Pikachu said as he zapped Gary
"AAAAAAAAAAAGH!" Gary screamed before he fainted
"Come on, Ash, let's move somewhere else." Mallow suggested as they walked away
"Who was that?" Misty asked
"That was Gary Oak, Professor Oak's grandson, he's also my rival." Ash said
"He seems like a sore loser." Misty said
"He pretty much is." Mallow said
When they got to another spot
"Chatot, Blue, come on out!" Ash said as he sent out Chatot & Blue
"Ruff." Blue barked
"Chatot." Chatot said
"Blue, Chatot, I want you two to help Marahute & Meowzie train for the Contest." Ash said
"You got it." Chatot said as he changed into a small army outfit. "Alright you Slakoths, let's get training."
A couple of hours later, it was time for the contest
"Ladies & gentlemen, My name is Lilian Meridian & welcome to the Viridian City Contest." Lilian announced "Before we begin, we want everyone to know that this Contest has no ribbons, but the winner will receive two Pokémon Eggs. Now let's introduce the two judges of the contest: Viridian City's Nurse Joy & Officer Jenny."
"Hello one & all, Jenny & I hope the audience will enjoy the show." Joy said
"We hope the competitors will do their best & have fun." Jenny said
"Now, let's start with the first contestant, Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town." Lilian said
When Ash got to the Performance Stage
"Meowzie, I choose you!" Ash said as she sent out Meowzie
"Meow." Meowzie said
"Alright, use Pay Day." Ash said. Meowzie's charm glowed yellow, multiple golden coin appeared, & she fired them into the air
"Now, Shadow Claw."
Meowzie jumped as her arms became surrounded by black claw-shaped shadow aura & slashed the coins, turning them into golden sparkles that surrounded her. After Ash & Meowzie finished, they took a bow, & left the stage.
"You were great, Ash." Mallow praised
"Thanks Mallow." Ash said
"Up next, we have someone all the way from the Alola Region, please welcome Mallow." Lilian announced as Mallow went on stage
"Go Bulbasaur!" Mallow said as she sent out her Bulbasaur
"Bulba!" Bulbasaur said
"Use Razor Leaf." Mallow said. Bulbasaur fired multiple green glowing leaves from her bulb into the air
"Now Vine Whip."
Bulbasaur released two vines from her bud & hit the leaves causing them to stop & slowly fall towards the ground, becoming the shape of a heart with her in the center. After they were done, they went to the waiting room
"Good job, Mallow." Ash praised
"Thanks Ash." Mallow said
"Now up next is Jessie aka the Red Comet." Lilian said through the TV as Jessie went on stage wearing a red tank top with red leather jacket, red pants & red boots. She also had Meowth on her shoulder
"Jessie?" Ash said surprisingly
"What's she doing here?" Mallow said confusingly
(On Stage)
"Honey, isn't that the same woman from Team Rocket that attacked the Pokémon." Jenny whispered
"Yes, that's her." Joy said
"I'll have her arrested immediately." Jenny said as she was about to stand up
"No." Joy said as she grabbed Jenny's arm. "Let her compete, if she tries anything then you can compete."
"…Alright, fine." Jenny sighed
"Go Ekans!" Jessie said as she sent out Ekans
"Ekanssss." Ekans hissed
"Use Haze." Jessie said. Ekans released thick black smoke from its mouth which covered the area
"Now Glare."
Big dark red eyes appeared at the center of the Haze
"Brutal Swing."
The Haze was blown away as Jessie & Ekans finished. After they were done, they were on their way to the waiting room
"Hey." Ash said as he & Mallow confronted
"What do you two want?" Jessie said
"Why are you here?" Mallow asked
"Same as you, twerps." Jessie said.
"Hope you're not gonna try to steal anyone's Pokémon." Ash said
"You wish." Meowth scoffed as Jessie stopped "Jessie made us promise not to steal Pokémon while she's competing in these Contest joints."
"What?" Ash said confusingly "But why?"
"Because being a Top Coordinator is one of my dreams & I don't want them messing things up for me." Jessie said
"You promise no Pokémon are gonna be stolen?" Mallow asked
"Cross my heart." Jessie said
"Are you gonna compete in the battle rounds, Meowth?" Meowzie asked
"Of course I am, just because I know how to talk doesn't mean I don't know how to fight." Meowth said
While the other competitors were doing the Appeal Round, Ash was wandering the halls until he spotted someone with two black Rattata
"Alright, this is my chance to compete in a contest & we're gonna win." The guy scowled "So you two better not mess things up for me or it's punishment time for the both of you, you got that?"
"Rattata." The Black Rattata nodded fearfully
Ash didn't like the way that guy was treating his Pokémon. When it was that guys turn.
"Ladies & Gentlemen, for the final contestant, please welcome Tom Valentine." Lilian said as Tom went on stage.
"Go Rattata!" Tom said as he sent out one of the Black Rattata
"Rattata." the Black Rattata said
(With Ash & Mallow)
"Hey, it's an Alola Rattata." Mallow said as Dex scanned the Rattata
Rattata, the Mouse Pokémon, Alola Form, A Dark & Normal Type. With its incisors, it gnaws through doors and infiltrates people's homes. Then, with a twitch of its whiskers, it steals whatever food it finds.
"Use Shadow Ball." Tom said. Alola Rattata fired 3 black & purple balls of shadow energy from its mouth into the air.
"Now, Thunderbolt."
"Rattataaaaa!" Alola Rattata said as he fired three bolts of yellow electricity & hit the Shadow Balls which caused them to become purple fireworks
After they Appeal Rounds were done
"Alright folks, now that the Appeal Rounds are over, let's see who are the 8 Coordinators who passed to the Battle Rounds." Lilian said
The screen showed Ash, Mallow, Jessie, the guy Ash saw, & 4 other Coordinators.
"Alright, we both passed." Ash smiled
The battle matchups showed that Ash, Mallow, & Jessie will be facing 3 different Coordinators & the guy Ash saw will be facing the last one.
"Well, may the best Coordinator win." Jessie said
"You too." Mallow said
