The next morning, Ash was in a group call with his mom, Professor Oak, Cerise, & his other uncle & aunt.
"Hi Mom, Hi Professor, Uncle Cerise, Uncle Kukui, & Aunt Lusamine." Ash said
"Morning, honey." Delia greeted
"How are you doing, buddy." Kukui said
"Did you have a good sleep?" Lusamine said
"Yeah, I'm doing fine." Ash said
"Ash, we heard on the news that a member of the Voldemort Family was at the Viridian City Contest." Oak said "Is everything alright?"
"Don't worry, he was exposed by Jessie's Meowth & got arrested." Ash said
"Yeah, we heard." Kukui said
"I can't believe that a member of the Voldemort Family managed to escape his hometown." Cerise said
"The rest of the Voldemort Family are gonna be very ballistic when they find out that George has been arrested & banished." Lusamine said
"Ash, be careful out there." Delia said
"Don't worry about it, Mom, I can handle things on my own." Ash assured "Uncle Cerise, I'm gonna send you some of my Pokémon & switch a couple for my other Pokémon."
"Alright, which one are you gonna send here?" Cerise said
"I'm gonna send Blue, Meowzie, Chatot, & switch Marahute & Splinter for Blue Aura Anubis & Valiant." Ash said
After Ash sent his Pokémon & switched them for his 2 other Pokémon, the call ended.
"Ash." Joy said as she approached him with Dex
"Hey Joy, what's up?" Ash asked
"I updated your Rotom Dex with a mini transporter in case you want to transport any of your other Pokémon." Joy said
"Wow, thanks Joy, you're the best." Ash said
"Hm, you're welcome, sweetheart." Joy smiled motherly
After retrieving Dex, Ash met up with Mallow & Misty. When Ash saw Mallow, she was wearing a A Green Short Sleeved shirt under a purple Denim Jacket, Pink Pants & Green Boots.
"Hey Mallow, what's with the new clothes?" Ash asked
"Oh, my old ones got ruin so I figured why not a good change." Mallow said "Do you like it."
"I think you look better in any clothes." Ash complimented
"Aww, thank you." Mallow blushed as she hugged him
They went to Viridian Forest with Pikachu, Bounsweet, & Treecko
"Eep!" Misty shrieked
"What's wrong?" Ash asked
"Look." Misty shivered in fear as she pointed 4 green caterpillar-like Pokémon
"Hey, they're Caterpie." Ash said as Dex scanned the Caterpie
Caterpie, the Worm Pokémon, a Bug Type. Caterpie has a voracious appetite. It can devour leaves bigger than its body right before your eyes. From its antenna, this Pokémon releases a terrifically strong odor.
"Go Poké Balls." Ash said as he threw a Poké Ball, Heal Ball, Repeat Ball, & Net Ball at the Caterpie & caught them

Known Moves: Tackle, String Shot, Bug Bite, & Electroweb
"Oh cool, they know Electroweb." Ash said amazingly as the Caterpie he caught in a Net Ball got transported to Cerise
"Congratulations, Ash." Mallow said
"It's great that you caught those Caterpie, but are you planning on keeping the other three on your team?" Misty asked
"Yeah, why?" Ash asked
"You see, I have InsectoPoképhobia." Misty said
"InsectoPoképhobia?" Ash repeated "You mean fear of Bug Type Pokémon?"
"Yeah, sorry." Misty said
"Misty, you do realize that there are Water Types who are part Bug Types." Mallow said
"Wait, what?" Misty said shockingly
"She's right, show her Dex." Ash said
"There's Surskit, Dewpider, & Araquanid." Dex said as she showed her the Pokémon's pictures
"Oh dear, why didn't anyone tell me that before." Misty said worriedly
"Well, how could you not know that?" Ash said as he sent out his 3 Caterpie
"Ra." The Caterpie said
"So, what are their names, Ash?" Mallow asked
"Their names are Chrysal, Lyca, & Hesper." Ash said
"What creative names." Dex complimented
"Ra." Chrysal, Lyca, & Hesper said as they climbed up on Ash's head & shoulders
"Aw, they already like you." Mallow said
"Kinda makes you look even more buggy." Misty mumbled in concern
Later after walking around the Viridian Forest.
"Let's rest up here" Ash said
"We should send out our Pokémon here to relax." Mallow said
"Come on out!" Ash said as he sent out Valiant & Aura Anubis
"Riolu!" Aura Anubis said
"Pidgey!" Valiant chirped
"You too." Mallow said as she sent out her Bulbasaur, Rattata, & Pidgey
"Bulba." Bulbasaur said
"Pidgey." Pidgey chirped
"Rat." Rattata said
"Hey Misty, can you send out your Pokémon?" Ash said "We would love to meet them"
"Of course, Go!" Misty said as she sent out her Pokémon
"Vaporeon." Vaporeon said
"Marill." Marill said
"Goldeen." Goldeen said
"Ha!" A brown starfish-like Pokémon with a red core said
"Brr!" A purple ten-pointed starfish-like Pokémon with a red core said
"Poliwhirl." A mouthless, tailless, Poliwag-like Pokémon said
"You already know Vaporeon, Marill, & Goldeen, but you haven't met Staryu, Starmie, & Poliwhirl." Misty said
"Whoa, what awesome Water Type Pokémon." Ash said amazingly as Dex scanned them
Goldeen, the Goldfish Pokémon, a Water Type. Goldeen loves swimming wild and free in rivers and ponds. If one of these Pokémon is placed in an aquarium, it will shatter even the thickest glass with one ram of its horn and make its escape.
Staryu, the Star Shape Pokémon, a Water Type. Staryu apparently communicates with the stars in the night sky by flashing the red core at the center of its body. If parts of its body are torn, this Pokémon simply regenerates the missing pieces and limbs.
Starmie, the Mysterious Pokémon, a Water & Psychic Type, & the evolved form of Staryu. Starmie swims through water by spinning its star-shaped body as if it were a propeller on a ship. The core at the center of this Pokémon's body glows in seven colors
Poliwhirl, the Tadpole Pokémon, a Water Type, & the evolved form of Poliwag. The surface of Poliwhirl's body is always wet and slick with a slimy fluid. Because of this slippery covering, it can easily slip and slide out of the clutches of any enemy in battle.
"You sure are lucky to have these Pokémon, Misty." Mallow said
"Thank you." Misty said
While the Pokémon were hanging out, the gang started having a conversation
"So, how do you two know each other?" Misty asked
"We've been best friends since we were babies, our moms knew each other." Ash said "We also have a best friend named Ritchie, he's my next door neighbor & he's also a Pokémon Trainer too."
"Oh, do you think we'll get a chance to run into him?" Misty asked
"I bet we will." Mallow said "Why don't we do some training while we're here?"
"That's a good idea." Ash said "Hey Misty, will it be alright if I borrowed your Vaporeon & Poliwhirl?"
"Sure, go ahead." Misty said
"Great, thanks Misty." Ash said
After Ash rounded up his Pokémon
"Okay guys, time for training." Ash said "Pikachu since you learned Iron Tail from Meowzie, I want you to teach Aura that move. Chrysal, Lyca, & Hesper, I want you to teach Pikachu the move Electroweb. Vaporeon & Poliwhirl, do you know Ice Punch & Surf by any chance?"
"Poli/Por." Poliwhirl & Vaporeon nodded
"Good, Poliwhirl you teach Aura the move Ice Punch, Vaporeon you teach Pikachu the move Surf." Ash said
After everyone was done training, day became night & everyone was having dinner which was cooked by Ash & Mallow
"This is very good, where did you two learn how to cook?" Misty asked
Before they were about to answer Misty's question, 3 ladybug-like Pokémon came by.
"Whoa, what are they?" Mallow said in awe as Dex scanned the Pokémon
Ledyba, the Five Star Pokémon, a Bug & Flying Type. Ledyba secretes an aromatic fluid from where its legs join its body. This fluid is used for communicating with others. This Pokémon conveys its feelings to others by altering the fluid's scent.
"I'm gonna catch one." Mallow said as she pulled out a Net Ball "Go Net Ball!"
Mallow threw the Net Ball & caught one of the Ledyba
"Go Moon Ball!" Ash said as he threw a Moon Ball at the second Ledyba & caught it

"I'll call you Francis." Ash said as Francis got transported to Cerise
"Hm." Misty said as she pulled out a Net Ball
"What are you doing, Misty?" Ash asked
"I'm gonna catch that last Ledyba." Misty said
"Why's that?" Mallow asked
"If I'm going to catch Surskit, Dewpider, & Araquanid willingly, I'm gonna have to catch a Bug Type to help me get over my InsectoPoképhobia." Misty said as it approached the Ledyba
"Ba?" Ledyba said
"Easy…" Misty said as she slowly moved the Net Ball towards the Ledyba
"…Ledy." Ledyba said as it tapped the Net Ball & got captured
"Alright, I did it." Misty smiled
"Good job, Misty." Ash praised
"Are you sure you wanted to catch Ledyba?" Mallow asked
"Of course I did, Ledyba is cute & I like cute Pokémon." Misty said
Soon, everyone went to sleep except Chrysal, Lyca, & Hesper
"Pi?" Pikachu said as he noticed them "Pika?"
"Ra." Lyca said as she pointed at the sky
"Ra Ra." Hesper said as he jumped up & down & flapped his tiny arms
"Pikachu." Pikachu said as he turned to Chrysal "Pika Pi?"
"Ra." Chrysal said as she shook her head no
"Pika." Pikachu said
Lyca & Hesper looked at the moon & saw a Butterfly-like Pokémon flying by. The next morning
"Ow!" Misty exclaimed
"Huh? What happened?" Ash said as he & Mallow woke up
"Chrysal tackled me in the face." Misty said as she held her nose
"Ra! Ra! Ra!" The 3 Caterpie said as they ran around in circles
"Wow, they're so energetic today." Mallow said
"Probably because they want to battle." Ash said
"Squire!" A voice cawed
The gang looked & saw a blue & black raven-like Pokémon on a rock
"What's that?" Ash said as Dex scanned the Pokémon
Corvisquire, the Raven Pokémon, a Flying Type. Corvisquire are smart enough to use tools in battle, these Pokémon have been seen picking up rocks and flinging them or using ropes to wrap up enemies.
"What a cool Pokémon." Ash said "Ready Pikachu?"
"Pika." Pikachu said
"Ra!" Chrysal said as she stepped
"Chrysal? You wanna battle it?" Ash asked
"Ra." Chrysal nodded
"Are you sure, cause you don't have to do this if you don't want to." Ash said
"Ra." Chrysal nodded again
"Okay, let's go." Ash said
"Ash, no, it's a bad idea." Misty called out
"Chrysal use String Shot." Ash said as Chrysal shot a stream of white thread from her mouth
"Squire!" Corvisquire said as it dodged the attack & charged at Chrysal with its wing glowing red-orange
"Dodge that Rock Smash." Ash said as Chrysal dodged the attack at quick speed
"Wow, she's fast." Mallow said surprisingly
Corvisquire then charged at Chrysal with its beak glowing white
"Wait until the last second." Ash said
"What is he doing?" Misty said confusingly
"Cor." Corvisquire said as it got closer
"…" Chrysal stood still
"Not yet." Ash said
"Vi." Corvisquire said as it got closer
"…"
"Not yet." Ash said
"Squire!" Corvisquire said as it got closer
"Now!" Ash said
"Ra!" Chrysal said as she dodged at quick speed.
Corvisquire crashed into a tree & got its beak stuck.
"Alright, now use Electroweb." Ash said. Chrysal released a web of yellow electricity from from her mouth & hit Corvisquire
"Go Nest Ball!" Ash said as he threw a Nest Ball at Corvisquire & caught it "We did it!"

"RAAAAA!" Chrysal said as she covered herself in String Shot, then she glowed bluish white & evolved into a green cocoon-like Pokémon
"You evolved." Ash said surprisingly as Dex scanned Chrysal
Metapod, the Cocoon Pokémon, a Bug Type, & the evolved form of Caterpie. The shell covering this Pokémon's body is as hard as an iron slab. Metapod does not move very much. It stays still because it is preparing its soft innards for evolution inside the hard shell.
Ability: Shed Skin
Learned Move: Iron Defense.
"Ra!" Lyca & Hesper congratulated
"Metapod." Chrysal said happily
"That was great, Ash." Mallow said
"Ash, that was very reckless of you." Misty said
"At least Chrysal beat Corvisquire." Ash said
"It doesn't matter, you know that Chrysal was at a total disadvantage & she wouldn't have stood a chance." Misty said as Chrysal glared at her
"Metapod!" Chrysal said as she tackled her on the head
"Ow!" Misty exclaimed as Chrysal went into Ash's arms
"Meta." Chrysal growled angrily
"Easy girl, she just doesn't know what she's talking about. You did awesome out there." Ash said as pet her before pulling out her Poké Ball "I'm gonna send you to Uncle Cerise now, you deserve a good rest."
After returning Chrysal to her Poké Ball
"Okay Dex, let's try out that transporter." Ash said
"Beginning Pokémon transportation." Dex said as he shot white beams from his eyes at Chrysal's Poké Ball & transported her to Cerise "Transport Complete."
"That Tackle was way harder than she was a Caterpie." Misty said as she rubbed her head
"Misty, I know that Chrysal is a Bug Type & Corvisquire is a Flying Type, but I believed in her. If things got out of hand, I would return her to her Poké Ball & I would never let my Pokémon go through something like that." Ash said
"Yeah, besides, Ash & Chrysal made a great team." Mallow said as she kissed his cheek which made Misty angry
"Well Well Well, look who's here." A voice said
The gang looked & saw Team Rocket
"Team Rocket? What are you three doing here?" Ash asked
"Prepare for trouble." Jessie said
"& make it double." James said
"To protect the world from devastation."
"To unite all people within our nation."
"To denounce the evils of truth and love"
"To extend our reach to the stars above."
"Jessie."
"James."
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light."
"Surrender now or prepare to fight."
"Meowth, that's right!" Meowth said
"Wobbuffet!" A cyan Pokémon with scrunched up eyes & a black tail with eyes on it said
"Who's that Pokémon?" Ash said as Dex scanned the Pokémon
Wobbuffet, the Patient Pokémon, a Psychic Type. Wobbuffet does nothing but endure attacks—it won't attack on its own. However, it won't endure an attack on its tail. When that happens, the Pokémon will try to take the foe with it using Destiny Bond.
"What do you three want?" Ash said
"What we want is your Pokémon." Jessie said
"Especially that Pikachu." James said "Hand it over."
"No way, there's plenty of Pikachu you can catch, why do you want mine?" Ash said
"Because we're looking for the most rare & valuable Pokémon in the world & that Pikachu of yours is something special." James said
"Really?" Ash said
"Your Pikachu's powers are beyond impressive & his powers exceed his evolutionary level." Meowth said
"So make things easy & hand it over." Jessie said
"No." Ash refused
"Then how about we settle this with a double battle?" James asked
"Alright." Ash said
"Ra! Ra!" Lyca & Hesper said as they stepped forward
"Go Smoochum!" Jessie said as she sent out a small light purple & cream baby-
Ike Pokémon with blonde hair
"Smoochum." The Pokémon said
"Growlie, let's go!" James said as he sent out an orange canine-like Pokémon with black stripes
"Growl!" The Pokémon barked
"Those must be their other Pokémon." Mallow said as Dex scanned the Pokémon
Smoochum, the Kiss Pokémon, an Ice & Psychic Type. Smoochum actively runs about, but also falls quite often. Whenever the chance arrives, it will look for its reflection to make sure its face hasn't become dirty.
Growlithe, the Puppy Pokémon, a Fire Type. Growlithe has a superb sense of smell. Once it smells anything, this Pokémon won't forget the scent, no matter what. It uses its advanced olfactory sense to determine the emotions of other living things.
"Ready Lyca & Hesper." Ash said
"Ra." Hesper & Lyca nodded in determination
"Hm, do you honestly think you can defeat our Pokémon with a couple of Caterpie?" Jessie said
"If Hesper, Lyca, & I work together, we'll win for sure." Ash said
"Ra." Lyca & Hesper nodded in agreement
"Your funeral, twerp." James said
"Smoochum, use Pound" Jessie said. Smoochum's arm glowed white & charged at Lyca
"Growlie, Flame Burst." James said. Growlie fired an orange-yellow fireball from his mouth
"Lyca use Tackle & Hesper use Electroweb." Ash said. Lyca charged & clashed with Smoochum & Hesper fired Electroweb which collided with Flame Burst
"Use Powder Snow." Jessie said. Smoochum releases a stream of powder snow from her mouth & hit both Caterpie
"Flame Wheel." James said. Growlie released fire from his mouth while somersaulting at the same time & rolled into both Caterpie
"You two, okay?" Ash asked
"Ra." Lyca & Hesper nodded
"Lyca use Bug Bite on Smoochum & Hesper use Electroweb on Growlie." Ash said as Hesper fired Electroweb at Growlie
"Dodge it." James said as Growlie dodged the attack
Lyca's mouth glowed light green & bit down Smoochum repeatedly.
"Get that bug off with Confusion." Jessie said
"Smooch." Smoochum said as her eyes glowed violet & telekinetically threw Lyca off of her
"Now, let's use Sing." Jessie said as Smoochum opened her mouth
"Quick Lyca, use String Shot." Ash said. Lyca fired String Shot which covered Smoochum's mouth
"Growlie, use Bite." James said as Growlie charged at Hesper
"Hesper, use String Shot." Ash said. Hesper fired String Shot & captured Growlie
"Wrap them up."
Lyca & Hesper ran around in circles & wrapped Smoochum & Growlie up with String Shot at fast speed
"Now, time for a double Tackle." Ash said as both Caterpie tackled them which caused them to roll away
"I can't believe it." Jessie said shockingly
"Beaten by a couple of Caterpie." James said
"Looks like we blasted off." Jessie said
"You may have won this round but we'll be back" James warned as Team Rocket left
"You did it, you two." Ash praised
"Ra!" Lyca & Hesper said happily
"Congratulations Ash, I knew you could do it." Mallow said as she hugged him
"Wow, I can't believe he actually did it with his Caterpie, I guess I had Ash all wrong." Misty smiled
"RAAAAA!" Lyca & Hesper said as they covered themself in String Shot, then they glowed bluish white & evolved into Metapod
"Metapod." They said
"Awesome, you two evolved as well." Ash said before pulling out their Heal & Repeat Balls "Okay, take a good long rest."
After returning Lyca & Hesper
"Now that that's over, let's continue our journey." Ash said
"Right." Mallow & Misty said
Just then, Ash spotted a Bee-like Pokémon with stringer-like arms flying by
"Hey, it's a Beedrill." Ash said as he ran after it
"Hey Ash, wait up." Mallow said as she & Misty followed him
After dealing with Team Rocket thanks to Lyca & Hesper, the gang continue their way through Viridian Forest as the journey continues.
