Hey readers! Yup, you're seeing it right. I'm still here and I'm finally back with a new chapter and it only takes me let's see... one... two... oh only three months to update. Ahaha! At least it's not 4 months, right? Right?

Okay... Um... jokes aside (yes, I'm aware that my sense of humour sucks and I think I've done this joke before) I know I once said before that I'll try to work faster, but as you can see... It's not going well. My time for writing is pretty much limited these days with my work and all, but no need to worry cause my dedication to this story is still going strong.

Anyway, you readers aren't here to listen/read me rambling about all this stuff, so let's put it aside for now. You're here to read my ZNT story which you have waited for so long so I won't waste more of your time. Oh, wait... Scratch that. It's the responding to review time first!

To Hellifrit,

I've always wondered what kind of past Derflinger had before meeting Saito as there are tons of things that were never properly explained about both Derflinger and Sasha, especially like how Derflinger ended up as junk in some random store. That's why I want to shed some light on it with my own ideas and I'm glad you like it so far. There will be more bits of Derflinger past mentioned in future chapters so please look forward to it.

Glad you asked and the answer is, yes I already finished my vaccination around... two months ago. Other than the numbness in my arm which goes away after a few hours, I didn't suffer any side effects. What about you? Hope you already got yours too.

Log Horizon and Dragon Maid, both great anime that is also on my to watch list. Finally, after so long, we got a new season for them, but where... Where the hell is season 2 for No Game No Life!? It's almost a decade already! Arghhh! Well... At least Strike Witches got a new season, so I guess that'll do and before you say anything, I love it only because of the plot, ok. D-d-efinitely not because of the f-fanservice or anything. Okay?

To Supersonic04931,

Sure, Derflinger will appear more in the future, but not as much as you expected. Got to remember, he can't move on his own and Saito can't carry Derf around in Japan without getting arrested.

Other main characters I like? Hmm... Let's see... Cattleya maybe? I know she's more of a supporting character, but she's the only one who I believe serves as a positive role model for Louise and never look down on her, unlike everyone else in the series. Not to mention, she's also very supportive of Saito and Louise's relationship and that was more than enough to earn my vote.

To Andasen,

Good day to you too my friend. I admire your punctuality, but guess what, I'm the one who's ridiculously late this time. Haha sorry about that.

Well, despite my condition, I do eat spicy stuff now and then so no worries there.

Finally, I found someone who share my views. Whenever I want to watch an anime, I always check whether there's a harem tag or not before deciding to watch it or not. Seriously, why is harem so popular? Can't a guy just be in a relationship with one girl and be left in peace? What's worse is when the guy is being indecisive or dumb enough not to realize that girls are flocking over him. I'm glad that Saito was different. He might be a pervert, but he choose Louise and stick to her right to the very hand and that my friend is what being a real man is all about.

To me other than Rie Kugimiya, the only Seiyuu I like is Tomokazu Sugita (Gintoki) and Rie Takahashi (Takagi-san/ Megumin). However, for me the one voice I can recognize anywhere is Kaji Yuki (Eren/Nishikata).

It will explain in future chapters (maybe), but yes, Derflinger was alive and by alive I mean he wasn't always a sword. Making an intelligent blade requires the infusion of a soul of a warrior, and that's what Derflinger was. The process was extremely difficult and was actually taboo among the elves at some point due to one dangerous flaw. SPOILER ALERT An intelligent blade can possess its user. Simply said, Derflinger can possess Saito's body while they're in contact and Derf has secretly done so a few times in the past to save Saito's life.

Is Sasha alive? Maybe. Who knows? Elves do live for a long time after all, but if she is, she would be a granny by this point.

Not a sports fan here either, except badminton maybe and the occasional MMA matches. On that point, I have a plan to make the Hiraga family watch a game at the stadium while Louise desperately tries to figure out the rules.

What can I say, I love trolling people, but you know I won't actually pull something like that right? I belong to the anti-NTR faction after all. About the sword, I learned about the feature from a documentary or something. Can't recall what it's called, but they did show them opening the Katana like that to see the sword makers signature. Other than the signature, there are also other markings which tell if the sword is specially requested by the lord or something like that, but I'm not entirely sure. I hope there's someone out there who can verify this.

Derf is... I don't know, because he himself doesn't know whether he's a man or a woman before he became a sword. I only identify him as he because Derf speaks with a male voice. However... SPOILER ALERT Derf can actually speak with a female voice as well. The Magic Sense spell infused into him allows Derf to mimic anyone's voice to perfection, including Saito and Louise's. He only speak like a man because that's the voice he figured everyone would be comfortable with. Oh, and yes, his poor imitation of the couple was entirely on purpose as he thought it would be funnier that way. Truly, he deserves a podcast.

Honestly, even I sometimes got confused about his location while writing, but you got it right. He is in the hallway near the stairs from which he can see both the living room and the entrance. Does that make sense?

As I write, I do want to try new things moving forward and I'm glad that you acknowledge my efforts. Thanks a lot. I really appreciate it.

Well... There's nothing else to say here so I need to cut this short. Sorry... Hope to see you again.

Sincerely, ZEROPEACE

To Kotano-chan,

Hey Kotano-chan, I'm glad to finally hear from you. You won't believe how worried I was when you didn't leave a review anymore especially considering the pandemic and all so I'm relieved to see you here. Anyway, just so you know, the knowledge that you're still reading my fanfic and hopefully enjoying it is more than enough to make me happy so no need to feel pressured to reply. I might go silent for months and updates are rare, but I will always be here.

Now about the haters... Well, I've never had any experience with such people before so I can't relate, but if you want my advice... screw them. Who cares what they hate or like? Who cares if they don't agree with you? Who cares whether they're right or wrong? For me, the only opinions that should matter to you are your own and the ones who care about you. In my book, people who waste time talking crap about what other people like without taking into consideration how they're hurting others are worthless, so what would their opinion matter. I'm fine with constructive criticism, but not hatred from someone who basically had nothing else to do in their lives. So please, no need to apologize Kotano-chan. You're not the one in the wrong here. Even if the whole world is against you, know that you'll always have a place here and I'll be waiting.

Hope you will be able to sort out what you got going on right now and knowing you, I'm sure you will. No need to look down on yourself. You're stronger than you think, but most importantly, stay safe and happy Kotano-chan. See you again!

To Shadicgon,

I'll admit, realistically speaking if the family found out about Louise's treatment towards Saito during their earlier days, they won't see her favourably. That's why, if you read closely, Saito never mentioned about it which is for the best.

Louise does feel bad about her earlier treatment towards Saito, but I suppose I never truly explored it yet. Don't worry, I do have a chapter or two in mind which will address Louise's guilt in the future and hopefully by resolving it, will deepen her relationship with Saito. Oh, and I don't mind if you're a hater. As long as we respect each other's views and didn't try to undermine each other, we'll be fine.

Toxic? Well, I suppose you can say the same for most if not all relationships involving tsundere.

Glad you're interested. Hope my work so far was able to meet your expectations.

Maybe it's just me, but when he chose Louise right from season 2, Saito kinda knows what he's getting into. As I said, a relationship with a tsundere requires a lot of patience and perhaps high pain tolerance as well.

I believe I already mentioned this a couple of times in past chapters, but that hot-headed personality was more like a shield Louise made to protect her feelings. Strict parents, looked down on by her classmates, ridiculed for her incompetence as a mage to the point of being called Zero, it makes sense that she needs a guard. That's why, when Saito comes and accept her for who she is while acknowledging, not to mention the warmth of her new family, she finds no more reason to put her guard up and reverts to her real kindhearted self. At least, that's what I think.

About the clothes, I don't think Louise is particularly picky on clothing. She doesn't seem to show any problem wearing a waitress outfit and the dancer outfit or... did she? It's been a while so I don't remember.

No worries, Saito has abandoned his worldly desires, and become a truly devoted man. The only breasts, thighs and butt he cares about right now are Louise's.

I have to agree with you, hypnotizing the entire military by the use of a spell which somehow makes them all forget about Saito and Louise's involvement while creating a fake cover story for the missing plane does sound a bit... I don't know, far-fetched? There's a possibility that at some point, someone going to notice that something's off about the whole situation. However... It won't happen. Why? Because of the divine power of Plot Armour.

Fuh... That's it. Now onward!

MAY PEACE BE WITH YOU

Chapter 80: Dishes

"Chu! Chu! Please, make way! The great Asuna's Express is coming through! Chu! Chu!" Asuna voices out, imitating the sound of an old running train as she enters the vicinity of the kitchen, bringing along a stack of plates from the dining table.

"Asuna's Express? What are you going on about, nee-san? We're not even 5 steps away from the table," Saito was quick to comment, following close behind his sister with his hands just as occupied as hers with the dirty dishes from their dinner.

"Jeez... No need to ruin it. Come on, just play along. Say it with me. Chu! Chu!" Asuna enthusiastically makes the motion of a train conductor, sticking true to her act.

"I'll pass. No way I'm going to do something so silly as that," Saito flat out refuse, not wanting any part in his sister's random antiques.

"Tch! You're no fun," Asuna pouts making little to no attempt to hide her displeasure. "You know what, with that kind of attitude, it's no wonder you're never popular."

"H-hey! Wait, what do you mean by that!?" Saito cried out, not taking kindly of the sarcasm beneath her words.

"Exactly, what it meant," Asuna playfully remarks, smirking as she did. "You're boring. A totally average guy with zero charm points. Honestly, you should be grateful. If Louise wasn't willing to marry you, I bet you're going to be left a loner for the rest of your life."

"Guh... I-I don't want to hear that from someone who has never been in a single relationship in her entire life," unable to deny her words, Saito went for the offence, counterattacking where he can.

"Oh, really? Huh, maybe you're right. What would a single, poor girl like me know about dating and stuff right?" Asuna casually admits to her lack of romantic experience, unfazed by her brother's attempt to mock her. "Still... Even though I never dated anyone, I'm pretty popular, unlike a certain little brother of mine."

"That's because they didn't know what kind of person you really are! If only they know..." Saito points out, murmuring the last part as he more than anyone knows what kind of person his sister really is, contrary to the cool, mature image she tends to give out in the public eye.

"What? You're trying to say that behind everyone's back, I'm secretly some kind of evil monster with a grand scheme to take over the world or something?"

"N-not really, but... It's close enough," Saito claims, although, in all honesty, that line of thought did cross his mind a couple of times in the past. He knew it wasn't true, yet strangely enough, the idea still sounds plausible to him to this day.

"Hohoho, is that so? Hehe... I'm grateful you thought of me that greatly," Asuna chuckled, feeling proud of herself for some reason. "If that's the case, maybe you should try calling me Asuna-sama, then? Or maybe... Queen Asuna. Wait, no no, Asuna the great!"

"No way in hell I would call you that. Not to a scary woman like you," Saito retort, barely holding in his frustration.

"Scary? Well, at least I'm not a loner otaku," Asuna retaliates, intentionally getting on Saito's nerves.

"Grr... Violent girl."

"Huh! Boring guy."

"Tomboy."

"Less than average."

As they continue exchanging insults after insults, neither of the siblings back down while the tension between them grew. It was barely a while ago since the family shared a heartwarming dinner, yet somehow the two managed to find themselves locked in another one of their quarrels. To argue all the time about the most trivial of things, but still able to get along perfectly well with each other simply shows how close these two truly are as siblings, though... neither side would admit it even if their lives depend on it, same for any other siblings in the world. That said, if the situation was left as it is, both would reach their boiling point anytime soon which would be anything, but good. Luckily, someone else who's also in the vicinity already has enough with them.

"Ahem!"

The strong, yet fully intentional cough, snaps the Hiraga siblings from their quarrel as both turn their heads around only to find their mother standing firm on the sidelines with her arms crossed over her chest. Her expression was as calm as ever, yet for some reason, the brother and sister could feel a sudden chill running down their neck as if foretelling them of the danger that was about to come.

"Asuna, Saito. You see, I'm glad that the two of you are helping out. However..."

Glancing over her children, the aura surrounding Yuno suddenly shifts into a darker one, a change which didn't go unnoticed by the two. Driven by their pure survival instinct honed by their respective martial arts training, the siblings took a step back, but soon froze where they stood as deep down they know, there's nowhere for them to run. It's clear as day... their mother was not happy.

"No fighting in my kitchen. UNDERSTAND?" Yuno stressed, still retaining her warm, motherly smile which only serves to make her appear far more intimidating.

"S-sorry," mom, Saito instantly apologize, realising the childishness of their behaviour.

"Yeah, sorry mom. Didn't mean to. It's just this guy," Asuna tilts her head to the side, no doubt referring to her younger brother.

"W-wait, you're pushing the blame to me?"

"Nah, I'm in the wrong too," Asuna admitted. "But it's more like... 99 percent your fault and 1 percent mine."

"That's no different than saying it's all my fault! Are you trying to pick a fight?" Saito protests, the flame inside him rages once again thanks to her comment.

"But it is your fault! If only you-"

"Ahem!"

Once again, Yuno's cough echoes the room, silencing both her children in an instant. Her presence grew in intensity than it was a minute ago as she stared at both of them straight in the eye, so much so that they ended up gulping on reflex. Yup, they definitely just screwed up.

"S-sorry," the siblings hang their heads low, both out of regret and fear. Their mother was usually kind and understanding all the time, but moments like this tends to remind them why their father was so scared of her at times. Simply put... Yuno can be quite scary when she's angry. No, scratch that. She's terrifying when she's angry.

Without saying a single word, Yuno continued glaring down at her humbled children, studying their faces for a while before finally letting out a heavy sigh. She won't lie, it can be tiring to play the role of a peacemaker all the time, but alas it's part of her responsibility as their mother. Besides, it's not like she dislikes it, in fact, it delights her to see how close the two are especially after the entire Halkeginian incident with Saito. At first, she feared that after two years of not meeting each other, their relationship would change, but turns out it was nothing to worry about as they were just as close as ever, almost as if they were never separated in the first. That said... She hope they could stop picking fights with each other, but perhaps, that was like asking for the impossible.

"Hm... Good, apology accepted," Yuno smiles warmly, the tension building up from earlier, instantly vanish into thin air. "Now, since the two you are getting along again, can I please have the dishes?"

"Huh? Ah... Right, the dishes! Um... Where should we leave these mom?" Asuna exclaimed, finally remembering the reason they came into the kitchen in the first place and the plates that has been sitting in hers and Saito's hand all along. Thankfully, neither of them dropped it during the heat of their quarrel, much to their relief. If they did... Well, let's just say Yuno wouldn't let them off that easily.

"Just put it right here, Asuna-nee," Louise was the one to answer making her presence known as she stood by the running sink, her hands busy with the plates already inside.

"Oh, it's Louise's turn tonight? Hehe, thanks for your hard work little sis," Asuna said as she put down the plates next to the sink, the very same spot Louise gestures to earlier.

"Hold on, I thought today's supposed to be my turn," Saito points out, taking a quick peek at the chore list stamped on the fridge, believing that there has been some sort of mix up in their duty schedules.

"It was, but Louise insists on cleaning the dishes tonight," Yuno explains, helping to clear up the confusion. "Since she's doing it today, you will be taking her turn tomorrow. Is that fine with you Saito?"

"Sure, no problem mom. Just wondering that's all," Saito said, easily accepting the change of shifts. Well, he does earn the privilege of being excused from the job tonight, so no reason for him to complain here.

The Hiraga's family chore schedule. It is exactly what it sounds like. A schedule detailing sets of chores around the house, evenly distributed among members of the family. As the one responsible for the well being of the household, most of the house's chores naturally falls to Yuno's shoulder, same for any housewife or househusband around the world. Still, the house belongs to everyone so it makes sense for everyone to take part and share some of the workload, something which the Hiraga's has long put into practice ever since Saito and Asuna was mere kids, thus leading to the creation of the well-organized schedule.

Taking out the trash, washing the dishes, watering the garden, cleaning the bath, hanging out the laundry, simple chores that pretty much everyone can do with little difficulty. All of them are listed under the chores schedule with the name of the family members and what they need to do on that specific day already written down by Yuno herself for everyone to see, just like how it has always been. The only difference now though, is that there's a new name added to the schedule. The name of the very person whose hands are busy at the running sink.

"Saito, why are you still standing there? Hurry, bring the plates here," Louise called out to her husband, noticing his idleness.

"Oh? C-coming!" Saito replied, quickly rushing to her side with the said plates, brushing past his sister. "Where should I put this?"

"Just leave it there. I need to finish cleaning these first. Haa..." A soft sigh unconsciously left Louise's lips, no doubt feeling a little overwhelmed by the number of dishes to clean. Well, 5 people are living in the house including herself, so... there's quite a lot of plates to wash.

"Louise, would you mind stepping aside a little? Let me help you," Yuno offered, easily noticing the younger girl's distress.

"Ah... Umm... T-thank you, but you don't have to, mom. I can take care of all these myself," Louise politely refused, not wanting her mother-in-law aid for some reason.

"Oh, come on no need to be shy Louise. Here, leave this to onee-san," Asuna was the next to offer her service, already taking the liberty to pick up the dishcloth.

"B-but... I'm really fine!" Louise states. "You two already done so much. Let me... be the one to help this time."

Hearing the words of the young Halkeginian girl, Asuna and Yuno exchanges a glance between them before giving each other a subtle nod, seemingly coming to the same conclusion. Who in the world would dare refuse the sincere request from such a pure-hearted girl, especially when they are the youngest and probably the cutest of the family.

"If you insist... very well then. I'll leave everything to you Louise," Yuno said, smiling out of gratefulness towards her daughter-in-law. "Still, if you change your mind, don't hesitate to call us."

"Yup, we'll only be in the living room. Just shout out if you need anything, little sis. We'll come running before you could even finish," Asuna assures her with a thumbs up like a supposedly reliable older sister she believes herself to be.

"Hehe, thank you, but don't worry, I can handle it. I'm a Hiraga too after all," Louise puffs out her chest, showing her pride in her new family name and her utmost dedication to her role tonight.

In response to Louise's proud declaration, both her sister and mother-in-law couldn't help, but chuckle, finding the situation as nothing short of adorable. However, with respect to her noble intentions, neither press the issue further. Instead, they left her with some kind words of encouragement, before eventually excusing themselves from the kitchen, leaving Louise alone with the pile of dishes waiting to be cleaned.

As the backs of the two older women slowly faded from view, armed with a renewed determination Louise returns her sight to her work for tonight. Turning on the faucet, the chilly, clear water greets her delicate fingers as the young pinkete gently picks up the dirty dishes, rubbing them one by one with the soap-filled sponge in her hand before running them through the water, clearing any leftover soap and stain on the plates.

With no other soul than herself around, the once lively kitchen was left empty, with only the sounds of the running water and the occasional noises of clattering plates to break the silence. It's strange, yet Louise somehow found the situation relaxing in its own way. Far better than sitting on the wide lawn of her family's estate while being served with tea and desserts by her family's collection of servants. Perhaps, it just shows how she has gotten used to the simple life of a commoner, so much so that the luxurious lifestyle she once lived no longer appeals to her. Humble as it may be, she enjoys the life she lives now and for her, that is the most important thing of all.

Losing herself in her duties, Louise began putting more effort into her work, all the while enjoying this comfortable silence lingering in the air. However, at some point, an odd sensation suddenly struck her, sending chills down her neck. A feeling as if she was being watched with such intent which was... quite a scary notion as from what she can tell, ever since Yuno and Asuna left, no one has entered the kitchen. Questions began to pop in the back of her mind as she wondered who it was, yet instead of letting her imagination run wild, she steels her heart and turns to the side to see the identity of her observer. Unsurprisingly enough, it was someone she knew all too well.

"Saito... Why are you still here?" Louise question, finally realising that he barely moved an inch from where he stood earlier. This may sound rude for her as a wife, but she forgot that her husband was in the kitchen in the first place, even though they just talked a little while ago. The fact that he has been keeping quiet all along didn't help the case either.

"Why? Um... Well, no reason," Saito bluntly replied, unable to come up with a decent excuse.

"Then, go to the living room or something. You don't have to stay here with me."

"True, but... I don't know. It just doesn't feel right to leave. I mean... I was supposed to be the one doing the dishes tonight," Saito said, his face riddled with signs of reluctance.

"Moo... Haven't mom told you already? I'm taking your turn for tonight. Tomorrow you will be taking mine, so there's no reason for you to feel bad about it," Louise states, reminding him of the changes in their shift. As far as she's concerned, it was a fair trade, at least from her point of view.

"I know that, but still... wouldn't you let me help a bit? How about... We split the work? You'll wash half and I'll take the other?" Saito suggested, wanting to reduce her workload as much as he can.

"You don't have to, I can do this much myself," Louise claims, keeping her stand on doing the dishes alone.

"Then... What if I dry them for you? You know, I'm good at wiping the dishes," Saito ready himself with a dishcloth which ironically was the very same one his sister had in her hands mere minutes ago.

"Uhh... I told you, I'm fine. There's no need for you to help," Louise stressed, starting to grow annoyed with his pestering. She knew he meant well, but despite her lack of experience, she was more than capable of handling the dishes on her own.

"Okay... Hey, what about if I help you to-"

"I said I'm fine! You don't have to help!"

Out of frustration, Louise spontaneously raised her voice against Saito, an act which she instantly regrets as she retreats to a timid state, deeply ashamed of herself. Saito meanwhile, was left frozen where he stood, bewildered by her angry outburst. Not like it never happened before, but being yelled at by her has become such a rarity these days compared to his time back in Halkeginia thus it caught him a bit off guard. That said, it only takes a moment for him to recollect his thoughts together and understand the situation.

"S-sorry. I was being too pushy, am I? My bad..." Saito instantly apologize, realising that he was being a nuisance.

"N-no... it's my fault. I'm the one who should apologize," Louise replied, her expression riddled with guilt. "S-sorry... I know you're just trying to help, but I feel like I've been relying too much on everyone, especially on you."

"Well... You're my wife, of course, you should rely more on me. I don't mind at all. Everyone thought the same way too. We're family after all," Saito said, assuring her that she was in no way troubling anyone.

"I know, I understand that I really do," Louise gently nods. "You're all very nice to me and I appreciate that, but I want to be someone that everyone can rely on too. That's why, please... Can you let me handle this on my own?"

Seeing the way she acted, and how stubborn she was with her stand, it became clear to Saito that nothing he say now could possibly change her mind about doing the work alone. After years of being by her side through both the good and the bad times, he recognised that undeterred determination of hers, perhaps better than even her own family. With such a display in front of his eyes, no way he could say no to her now.

"If you say it like that, what else can I say? But... Can I at least stay here until you're done? I-I won't get in your way. Promise!" Saito begs, hoping to at least show her some support by remaining in her company.

Upon his request, Louise ponder for a moment in consideration, seemingly hesitant as she feared he might end up as an unintentional distraction, but she soon comes up with a decision.

"As long as you don't bother me, I suppose it's fine," Louise replied, lightly smiling as she did. Well, it's not like she dislikes his presence, in fact, it was nice to have her husband around even though when he's doing absolutely nothing. It's... the thought that matters.

"Hehe, great! Go on, don't mind me. I'll just stay right over here. Oh, and... Thanks for the hard work."

"You're welcome, now, hush I need to concentrate," Louise said, with a finger pressed to her lips, telling him to keep quiet.

Leaving her husband with the warning, Louise once again returns to her prior engagement while Saito took the cue to step out of the way, giving her the space she needs as not to get in the way. To the pinkete, the idea of being watched by her own husband, was a bit... pressuring in some ways to the point that her body tensed up causing her movements to be on the awkward side. Every now and then, she would sneak a peek at him, checking if he was still there which he is, but at some point she stopped, attempting to not pay too much mind into his gaze, focusing more instead on the work at hand. It took a while, but eventually, she relaxes down and was soon back to the pace she was at before Saito's interruption.

Staying idle on the side with his arms folded across his chest and his back against the wall, Saito watched his wife from afar, remaining as the mere observer he was supposed to be. Seeing how devoted his wife was on doing the dishes, a chuckle spontaneously left Saito's lips, followed by a warm smile of affection. Who could have ever imagined that Louise De La Valliere of all people would learn how to do the dishes on her own. Not him, at least not when he first met her years ago. Back then, he pretty much did everything for her just like any other good servant or in his specific case, a familiar would. Not like she couldn't do them herself, it's just... she's not good at it nor was she keen on doing it, a mentality which unsurprisingly also applies to the rest of the academy's students. That's why, when he first found out about Louise being mentored by his mother on the ways of the housewife, he was shocked. Impressed, but also shocked.

Since taking the lessons, Louise's housekeeping skills had improved a lot, more than Saito could ever imagine, mainly due to her own determination on learning to be a better wife for him and he couldn't be any prouder of her.
In all honesty, though, the thought of Louise being incompetent or not a good wife had never crossed Saito's mind, not even once, and he knew his family was of the same thought as his. None of them would mind at all if Louise chooses not to help with the chores around the house. She was of noble birth after all with literally zero experience on anything resembling household work, but alas, that's what makes her decision to learn to do these chores much more impressive. That level of diligence in improving herself no matter what others say. It's one of the former mage's greatest charms, which reminds Saito why he fell in love with her.

"Hmm... Hmm... Hmm..."

The sweet sound of Louise's humming breaks the silence between the two teenagers in the room with the gentle melody accompanying the sounds of running water as the young Halkeginian was lost in her own little world. Looking at her now, ask anyone and they would immediately say that Louise was enjoying herself, which is true. To think that the once-proud daughter hailing from a long line of noble blood who never bothered to do her laundry, was having fun doing the dishes in his family home. How times have changed.

That said... Even though Louise was entirely fine with these new responsibilities of hers if the Vallieres ever found out that after taking her hand, Saito allowed their daughter to do the work of a servant... Well, for starters, a huge bounty will be put out throughout the realm for his immediate capture, then he would most likely find himself locked up in the Valliere's secret dungeon in the worst cell possible. After some time enduring horrendous torture, he would then be tied up to a stake and burned alive in the middle of the Valliere's estate before being decapitated by Louise's father himself. In other words... He's dead. Not just dead, but truly, absolutely and without the slightest bit of doubt dead in the most horrible way imaginable to humankind. If he's lucky, he might at least got a grave built up for him, but if not... Well... who knows? One thing for sure, if he wishes to ever return to Halkeginia alive, this secret must never leave the doors of the Hiraga Household.

Furiously shaking his head, Saito snaps himself back into the realm of reality, far away as possible from those... disturbing thoughts, returning his attention towards the matter at hand. Settling his gaze upon his wife, he noticed that while he was distracted, she was already halfway through the dishes with the freshly washed plates and utensils lined up on the side of the sink, merely waiting to be wiped dry. He has to admit, despite still being relatively new to these chores, Louise does work quite fast fitting for a quick learner such as herself.

Driven by pure interest and a hint of curiosity, Saito left his observation spot and silently makes his way to Louise's side while taking care not to alert her, an attempt which ultimately fails as she caught sight of him just as he steps next to her. No words left her lips as her gaze silently met his, yet from the look on her eyes alone, Saito can pretty much tell what she had in mind.

Don't worry, I'm not gonna disturb you. I'm just checking, that's all, Saito said, assuring her that he wasn't trying to help out against her wishes, staying true to his words from earlier.

Appearing somewhat satisfied with his words, Louise replied with a short, nonchalant "Hmm..." Before setting her eyes back towards the remaining dirty dishes in the sink, leaving her husband alone to his own chagrin, much to his relief.

Standing close by her side, Saito was immediately drawn to the swift movement of Louise's hands as she handles the dishes like a pro which easily tells how much practice she has done prior to this day under his mother's mentorship. Soon, however, his interest shifts to the clean plates lined up in front of him, checking them out like some sort of health inspector in case Louise miss a spot, but of course, there was none to be found. Being a bit of a perfectionist was one of her good traits after all.

Not knowing what else to do here, Saito continues checking out his wife's work, trying to ease his boredom albeit a little. Staying idle was not exactly his forte and since Louise didn't allow him to help in any way, this is all he can do without risking upsetting her. Well... at least not too much as he could swear for a second there she was sneaking a glare at him from the corner of his eyes which was a bit unsettling, but since she didn't say anything, he considers that as a sign that she's willing to turn a blind eye to his actions. At least for now.

'Clink! Clink!' The rough clanking sound of metal penetrates the room as Louise drops several chopsticks right in front of her husband whose attention was immediately drawn towards them.

Staring down at the fine utensils laid down in front of him one by one he soon naturally reached out for one of the chopsticks, fiddling with it for no clear objective. As of now, he was pretty much desperate in finding something to do and for some reason, he believes the chopstick might hold the key to ease his boredom which in all honesty, sounds nothing more than blindly grasping in the dark. Holding on to the chopstick, Saito ponders alone, attempting to come up with something on his own, but it wasn't until he glance back at his wife that an idea comes to mind.

"What if... Heh... Hehehe..." An evil smirk forms on Saito's lips, a foretelling that he has something planned in the back of his mind. Something quite sinister from the look of it.

With a new purpose in mind, Saito stole a few glances at Louise, while secretly planning his approach. He got one shot to execute this idea of his and failure was not an option, thus he waited and waited for the moment when she had her guard completely down, a moment which arrived sooner than he expected. Well... Louise does trust him more than anyone else in the world, a fact which strikes some guilt into Saito's chest as he was about to betray her expectations, but alas he already steeled his resolve for this so there's no going back for him.

Disguising his true intentions, Saito hides the chopstick in the palm of his left hand while acting as normal as he possibly can, taking extreme care not to alert her of his plan. Carefully, yet surely he then sneakily held the pointy end of the chopstick towards Louise who was still very much oblivious to what was to come which serves his plan perfectly. As the chopstick stood mere inches away from his goal, Saito check his wife's expression one last time, before taking a deep breath, removing any bits of doubt still lingering in his chest. Then, with his eyes on the prize... He poked her.

*POKE*

"K-Kyaaa!" A rather loud, yet cute squeal escapes Louise's lips, caught entirely off guard by the poking sensation against her side, so much so that her body jumped out of reflex. Thanks to the fabric of her clothes, rather than painful, the poking felt more towards the ticklish side. Either way, it's not something she found pleasant, evident by the glare she shot towards the culprit.

"Saito! What are you doing!?" Louise cried out, with her eyes staring accusingly at him. She didn't see the act, nor the chopstick he use to poke her, but there's only two of them in the room, so unless an invisible person is living in the house which they aren't, it's pretty obvious who did it.

"What? What do you mean? I didn't do anything," Saito played dumb, hiding the chopstick away from sight.

"But I... You... Uh..." Louise furrowed her brows in annoyance, realising that she had little evidence to accuse him of anything.

Unable to prove his wrongdoing, sending out a long, sharp glare his way was all Louise can do as she returns to her chore hoping that the intimidation alone would be enough to deter him. Unfortunately, all it did was the complete opposite as she unintentionally rouse her husband's playful side especially with the adorable reaction she had earlier, which means... he will do it again.

*POKE*

"Kya! Saito! Ah, there I saw it!" Louise squeals once more due to the ticklish sensation, but unlike the previous attack, this time she was able to spot the chopstick hidden inside his palm, a piece of clear evidence pointing him as the culprit.

"Oh... Um... This? Y-you see it's- it's not like what you think. It's... an accident. Yeah, a total accident," Saito tried to pull off an excuse to cover his crime, but as always his ability to lie leaves much to be desired.

"Moo... You- Haa... Never mind. Just don't do that again. I don't have time to play with you."

Despite already catching him red-handed, instead of getting angry, Louise chooses to leave her husband with no more than a light warning. In normal circumstances, she would have scolded him a little more, but she was simply too occupied with her work to spend time on him. Nevertheless, thanks to her show of mercy, Saito was spared from her potential wrath to which he couldn't help, but to let out a sigh of relief.

Caught in the act, and with Louise now wary of him, Saito backs away, staying out of her line of sight and giving her the space she needs. If one thinks that Saito has learned his lesson, then they couldn't be more wrong as the young Gandalfr was never the type to give up so easily. Sneakily, he moved around his wife's back to the other side while swapping the chopstick from his left to his right. Then before she could notice his presence...

*POKE*

"Kyaahh!? S-Saito!" Louise cried out, glaring accusingly at him. Annoyance written all over her face.

"A-ah... S-sorry... It was too tempting," Saito bowed a little as he scratches the back of his head, appearing somewhat apologetic. Whether he actually feels sorry however was a different story, especially when he was barely holding in his chuckle.

"I told you not to do that. What would you do if I drop the dishes? If anything broke, I'll tell mom it's your fault," Louise said in a stern tone, reminding him that the true ruler of the house was just a room away.

"Okay, okay. I'm sorry, my bad. I promise I won't do it again."

"Really...?" Louise narrowed her eyes, finding it hard to believe such empty promises.

"R-really..." Saito parrots her, trying his best to sound convincing, but Louise's expression didn't change as she remains doubtful of him, which was fair all things considered.

"Then, hand it over," Louise stretch her palm open as if requesting something from him. "If you're stopping, you won't need it anymore, do you?"

Without the need to be said, Saito knows exactly what Louise was referring to, as her gaze was fixed on his hand. Cornered against the wall, he had little choice, but to comply, passing the chopstick over without any protest. Snatching the utensil off his hand, she immediately sets it aside, putting it as far away as possible from his reach. As people say, better safe than sorry and she's not eager to be unexpectedly poked on the side again.

"So... Do you trust me now?" Saito pulls off a smile, hoping that his sincerity somehow got through to her.

"Maybe," Louise huffs, a hint of distrust yet lingers in her tone as she glared coldly at him. "Just... don't try anything on me again."

Believing that she finally had her husband's behaviour under control, Louise once again tries to concentrate on her work which has been greatly delayed thanks to the constant interruption. Unbeknownst to her, Saito already anticipated the possibility of having his weapon taken away which is why, earlier on while she wasn't looking, he slipped an emergency chopstick right into his pocket, the very same one he was holding on to right now. That's right folks... He hasn't learned his lesson yet.

Planning his next approach, Saito once again makes a temporary retreat, analyzing his prey from afar in the safety of the back. With her guard up, going for the sides is no longer an option leaving him with only her back as a possible striking zone. It won't be as ticklish as the sides, but he's not particularly picky. As long as it was able to squeeze out a cute reaction from Louise, it's good enough for him, even though it might potentially upset her. With that in mind, Saito approached her from behind, waiting for a moment when she would least expect it and...

*POKE*

"Kyaaaa!" For the fourth time of the night, Louise's squeal of surprise echoes in the kitchen. As she gathered herself, with an annoyed expression and on the edge of exploding, she turns to face Saito.

"Pfft! Hehehe... Sorry, you just sound too adorable. I can't help it," Saito said between his breaths, unable to contain himself from chuckling. No matter how many times he sees it, he still finds her reaction nothing less than priceless.

"Saito, you... Ahhh! Moo... That's enough! You're the one asking for it!"

No longer able to remain patient with his childish antiques, Louise angrily reached for one of the chopsticks next to the sink, before pointing them straight towards her husband like a Chevalier challenging her opponent to a duel. Startled, Saito reflexively took a step back, aware that he has awakened the tiger from her slumber, yet like a trickster he is, there was no fear on his face, only amusement.

"Heh... You want a fight with the great Gandalfr? Hehe... Bring it, Louise," Saito took a firm pose along with a prideful grin, ready for anything she threw at him.

Not bothered to exchange words anymore, Louise rushes forward aiming straight at his chest with her chopstick in which Saito easily deflected, able to see through her simple attack from miles away. Strikes after strikes followed suit, yet the young Gandalfr managed to guard against all of them with little to no difficulty as expected of the hero of Halkeginia. Utilizing his past experience in combat, Saito remains on the defensive, waiting patiently for a gap in Louise's attacks. When an opening presents itself, he wastes no time and launches a quick attack landing it straight to her defenceless belly.

"Kyaa!" The sensation against her belly, cause Louise's body to jolt as she cried in surprise, clearly not expecting a counterattack.

"Hehe... One point to me," Saito smirks, serving only to enrage his wife's further.

Red with anger, Louise continue assaulting Saito with such aggressiveness, doing everything she can to hit any exposed spots even by pure chance, yet none of her attacks came close to posing a threat to him. Her husband's Gandalfr's abilities aside, Saito was faster, stronger, experienced in melee combat and has far more reach compared to Louise, making it quite a one-sided struggle for the poor girl.

"Grr... Stop... Moving... Around!" Louise cried out, still desperately trying to land a hit, but no matter how hard she tries, she only ended up being deflected or countered much to her frustration.

"Why don't you try harder, my master? Who knows, maybe you'll hit me... In a hundred years," Saito smirks playfully.

Gritting her teeth in anger, all Louise could put as a response is an intimidating glare, but even that was simply ignored. Saito has always been keen to get on her nerves even back during their days in Halkeginia, but tonight he was being particularly annoying and the fact that he keeps poking her for fun didn't help either. If only she had her wand in hand instead of a chopstick, she would have blasted him away with one of her strongest Explosions, but considering where she resides now, that may not be a good idea.

"What's wrong, has the great Louise given up already?" Saito teased as Louise suddenly cease her attacks, most likely due to exhaustion. Stamina was never her strong point to be with.

"You, haa... Do you think, haa... I'll let you go, that easily!"

As Louise yelled out her resolve, Saito intuitively put his guard up in preparation for the next assault, yet contrary to his expectations, instead of rushing at him, Louise went back to the sink. For a second, he thought she had chosen to forfeit the battle, but when he saw her picking up another chopstick, her intention became clear to him.

"W-wait, hold on! That's not fair!" Saito protests, finding himself at the end of not one, but two chopsticks.

"I don't care... Prepare yourself, Hiraga Saito!"

Armed with a chopstick in each hand, and urged by her burning rage, Louise rushed him, instantly placing Saito on the defensive. Sounds of clashing metal can be heard in the kitchen as Saito hopelessly attempts to fend her off, the confidence he had earlier was long gone. Defending yourself with something small and short like a chopstick is tricky in itself. He can somehow manage one, but defending against two attacks at the same time isn't easy, especially when the attacker was extremely furious at you.

"Ow! Ow! Louise, don't hit me like that! Ow!" Saito pleads as instead of poking him, it was more like she's hitting him with her chopstick.

"Shut up! You're the one who started it! I've been too nice to you lately... It's time for you to get some proper discipline!" Louise angrily retorts, barely slowing down as her attacks grow more ferocious.

With peaceful negotiation off the table, and himself overpowered by Louise's burst of energy, Saito has little choice, but to run from the battle which he himself began, cowardly as it may be. Louise however, was quick to make chase.

"Stop running away! Come back here you stupid dog!" Louise shouted, refusing to let him get away. Not after everything he had done.

"Hell no! Not a chance!" Saito shouts back, not even taking a look back as he scrambles for his life.

Like a game of cat and mouse, the two ran around the kitchen with Louise wildly swinging her chopsticks at him, while Saito narrowly, yet expertly dodges her wave of attacks as he tried to get away from her. For some reason, being in this situation triggers a sense of Deja Vu in both teenagers, as if... they have done something like this back in Halkeginia which they did, more than they could even remember. The only difference is that, instead of the risk of getting whipped or blown up to pieces, Saito only had to spare himself from being hit by a metal chopstick, which is a good improvement... I guess? Well, at the very least, it's not life-threatening. Right...?

With the chase still on, despite having circled the kitchen for who knows how many times, neither shows any signs of slowing down, making it clear to Saito that he will never be able to lose Louise. Even back in the other world, she has always been good at keeping up with him, a fact which he couldn't help, but be quite impressed with. However, if this goes on, he will be caught sooner or later, yet this hardly bothers Saito since escape was never his true intention in the first place.

"There!" Saito cried out as he snatched another chopstick from the edge of the sinks, barely avoiding one of Louise's strikes as she attempts to stop him, but alas she was too late.

"You... What are you trying to do?" Louise halt her steps, realising that she had lost her advantage.

"Hehe... Finally. I'm done running. Now, I'll show you my secret Gandalfr dual-wielding style", Saito proudly forms an X with his chopstick, ready for a proper rematch.

"Grr... Do you think it'll save you?" Louise stood firm, taking the same pose as him. "Prepare for your punishment!"

Once again, the epic duel between the two began as they pace back and forth in the kitchen, the clanking sounds of metal rings in the room every time their chopsticks clash. Unlike their first engagement, the battle seems to be more or less on equal footing as both sides struggle to overwhelm the other while also taking caution not to be caught off guard. Despite all his big talk, Saito has little experience with duel wielding, and since chopsticks is not exactly a weapon, Gandalfr's powers are of no use here, which helps to level the field. One moment, Saito would find himself with his back against the wall, and the next, their position would change with Louise on the defensive. At this point, it's difficult to predict who would gain the upper hand.

"Hii!" Saito shrieked, as one of Louise's attacks manages to get through, poking him straight at the belly.

"Yay! I got you! That's what you get for being mean," Louise cheered, finally giving him a taste of his own medicine.

"Nah, that's just a lucky shot. It won't happen again," Saito said with a smug. "Don't be so confident yet, my master."

"Oh, really...? Then let me show you, what a true Vallerie lady can do," Louise replied in the same manner, taking his words as a challenge.

At the end of their brief exchange of words, follows the exchange of metal as the two pulled themselves back into their own little war, pulling whatever tricks they can to penetrate the other defences. When one did manage to land a strike, the other would immediately form a counterattack, poking them right back which would then be countered as well. From a spectators point of view, it may not seem much, but in reality, it was a pretty intense battle between a mage and a swordsman.

Laughter and giggles accompany the couple's every move as they dash back and forth around the area, attacking and blocking each other with such skills. Right now, rather than a duel, it seems more like they're playing a childish game together. Even Louise who was burning with rage earlier seems to have forgotten all about it, focusing more on trying to win this game of poking. For someone as prideful as her, losing was simply not an option.

"I got you!"

Desperate for a winning blow, armed with chopsticks in both hands, Louise makes a lunge forward, intending to strike Saito right in the middle of his exposed stomach. However, probably due to her own over-enthusiasm, Louise accidentally trips over her own foot, losing her stability while inertia continues to carry her body towards him.

"Louise!"

Without thinking twice, Saito discards his chopstick onto the floor as he reaches out to grab his wife hoping to prevent her from crashing to the floor. Unfortunately, the momentum of her fall was too strong that Saito ended up being knocked off his feet, falling backwards with Louise in his arms. Unable to regain balance, at the last second, he pulled his wife closer to his chest, cushioning her as he allow his body to absorb the full brunt of the fall. The thumping sound of his back against the cold hard floor shakes the room, accompanied by the ringing of their chopsticks as it fell around them while they lay on the floor.

"S-Saito! Are you okay?" Louise's voice was coated with concern. The whole event happened in a flash that by the time she realised it, she was already on the floor with him.

"Yeah... I'm alright. I've faced worst than this," Saito grins, assuring her that he was fine. "What about you? You're not hurt are you?"

"I'm... I think I'm fine. Sorry, I should be more careful," a look of remorse clouds her expression, feeling like she has inconvenienced him.

"Nah, it's okay. I'm just glad you're fi-"

"Oi! What's all that racket? What's going on over there!?"

Asuna's voice from afar interrupts them, seemingly having heard the commotion. Between their little duel and both of them falling on the floor, it was to no one surprise that their family who was only in the living room nearby would take notice of all the noise. Panicking, before the couple could find it in themselves to respond or to even process the situation, they could hear footsteps rapidly approaching them. Soon a familiar figure appears the very same person who just called out to them.

"We can hear you guys all the way from the living room. Did someone break a plate or some... The heck!?" Not even two steps into the kitchen, Asuna found herself dumbstruck at the entrance with her mouth agape, unable to believe what she was seeing.

Right in the middle of the kitchen, with Saito laying on his back on the floor while Louise was on top of him, not to mention the fact that he had her wrapped in his arms, it was quite a... questionable sight, one that can lead others to misunderstand. More so since these two are married and this wasn't the first time they act in such intimacy.

"S-seriously, you two? Even right here? Like... Seriously?" Asuna shakes her head in disbelief. She had caught them, as she prefers to call it, 'being lovey-dovey' more times than she could remember, but none came close to giving her a headache than this one.

Still unaware of the situation surrounding them, the couple gives Asuna a confused look before exchanging glances between them. Only when their eyes met that they finally realised how close they were to each other and the embarrassing position they're currently in. Blood soon rushes to their cheeks, colouring them bright red as they now fully understand why their older sister froze up the moment she enters.

"A-Asuna-nee, this... Um... this..." Louise struggles to find the words, unsure where to look as her blush grows deeper.

"No, wait. It's not what it looks-"

Asuna raised her palm towards the duo, having little interest in listening to their explanation. Usually, by this point, she would have remarked with something like 'go get a room' or tease them a little like the playful trickster she is, but not this time.

"You know what, I'm gonna pretend I didn't see anything," Asuna turns away, sighing as she did. "I'm heading right back. Don't worry, I'm not saying a word to mom and dad so you guys just... Uh... Just finish whatever it is you're doing. I... I don't even want to know."

Leaving the flustered couple behind, Asuna went back the way she came without taking a single look back, hoping to quickly erase this piece of memory from her mind. No one can tell whether her decision to leave them alone was born out of her respect for the couple's privacy or simply because she's not in the mood to deal with their lover's act. Well... Not that it matters anyway as what she has seen and the truth was not the same in the first place.

Back on the floor, both Saito and Louise desperately attempts to clear the misunderstanding, but before they have the chance to call out to their sister, she was long gone, leaving behind the two still blushing teens. In the midst of this... awkward atmosphere, Louise quickly gets away from Saito's body before kneeling next to him, allowing the young Gandalfr to sit up straight as well. Unable to look at each other in the eye, all that was left for them to do was stare down at the floor, trying to contain their embarrassment.

"So... Who won?" Saito breaks the silence, hoping to change the mood for the better.

"Eh? Um... I'm not sure," Louise was hesitant in her reply as she didn't exactly keep count, nor could she remember when their fight became a competition.

"I think I land more hits on you, so... it should be my win right?" Saito claims, believing he has an edge in the battle.

"B-but you're Gandalfr, so my strikes should worth more," Louise argued, pointing out their huge gap in skills.

"Really... Hehe, are you sure?" Saito forms a sly smile. "As far as I can tell, I don't think you hit me even once. Maybe you're just imagining things."

"L-liar! You know I did! You even called it a lucky hit earlier!"

"Did I? Hmm... Nah, can't remember it," Saito continues to play dumb, but from the smirk alone anyone can tell he's lying through his teeth.

"You... I told you I did! Moo... Baka, Baka, Baka! Stupid dog!"

Frustrated with her husband's cheeky attitude, Louise began assaulting him with a barrage of blows, which Saito desperately defends himself from. Not like it actually hurts though as her blows were light enough it feels more like a massage instead of an attack similar to the ones he occasionally sees in one of those comedy anime, but of course he won't tell her that.

"Okay, okay, I get it. I'm joking, no need to be so mad," Saito confess, seeing no reason to continue playing the fool.

"Hmphh! I'm not mad just... a little angry that's all," Louise ceases her attacks, pouting as she faces away from him.

"Isn't that the same thing?" Was what Saito had in mind, but he kept it to himself, not wanting to push her patience too far.

"So... Be honest with me, who won?" Louise brought up the issue again, her inner pride unwilling to let it rest.

"Um... Honestly, I'm not sure," Same as his wife, Saito didn't keep count of their respective hits. Not like it was possible in the first place when you're busy defending yourself.

"Then, what now?"

"Hmm... Why don't we just... Call it a draw? That's fair enough isn't it?" Saito suggested, taking the diplomatic approach.

Upon hearing him out, Louise tilts her head to the side, appearing to ponder about it first. A moment or two later she snaps back up, yet with a hint of shyness behind her gestures.

"Only if you apologize first... Properly," Louise blushed a little as she murmured those words, but loud enough for him to hear.

Seeing the way she acts, it becomes clear to Saito that Louise was not upset with him anymore. Well, at least not too much, as she was willing to forgive him, that is if he doesn't screw it up which he doesn't plan to. Taking a deep breath, he calm his heart before leaning close to his beloved master.

"Then... I'm Sorry, Louise." Saito whispered, putting every bit of his heart into the apology as he wrapped his arms around her, yet taking care not to make her uncomfortable.

"Are you really sorry? Do you regret what you did?" Louise nonchalantly replied, yet didn't try to escape his embrace instead letting the warmth of his body to comfort her.

"I do. I really am," Saito keeps his voice in a soothing tone. "I didn't mean to upset you. I just... Want to spend more time with you. I mean I know we're together all the time, but... I still want to stay with you. That's why... I was being childish so... can you please forgive this dumb familiar of yours?"

At the end of Saito's apology, what's left between them was an empty silence, but it was completely different from the awkward atmosphere they had earlier. It was... A comforting type of silence, one that they could relish in forever, yet would never be bored of.

"Apology accepted," Louise smiles at him, touched by his sincerity. "Just don't do that again, okay?"

"Um... Sorry, can't promise that," Saito respond in a heartbeat. "You're too fun to tease, I couldn't possibly stop even if you tell me to."

"Saito, you... Haa... Well, at least you're honest," Louise sighs, unable to help, but feel like she lost for some reason. "Now, can you please let me go? I still need to do the dishes."

"Ah, wait!" Saito tightens his hold on her, not allowing her to move an inch away.

"W-what is it? I said I forgive you didn't I? Let me go already, I still have a lot to do."

"Just... hear me out," Saito insists, refusing to comply. "You see, why don't you let me help? It will be faster that way."

"This again? Moo... I want to do it alone. We talked about this already didn't we?" Louise frowns, annoyed at having to go through the same conversation again.

"I know, I remember. Still, I'm the reason you got distracted, so... it's fair for me to help out," Saito stated, attempting to sound reasonable. "If you don't like me lending a hand, try to think it as... my punishment. You know, for the poking and all?"

"Hmm..."

Once again Louise returns to her inner thoughts as she considers whether to accept Saito's aid. From a logical standpoint, considering how much time she has wasted on entertaining him, having another pair of hands seems to be nothing short of a blessing. Her pride however was holding her back, but alas with the sink filled with dirty dishes and the clock ticking away into the night, his offer was far too tempting.

"Haa... Fine. Then, can you help me- Eh, no I mean... Ahem!" Louise fixes her tone, later taking a firm pose of authority, befitting of a master. "As punishment for your misbehaviour, I order you to wipe the dishes for me. Any complaining is forbidden. Do you understand?"

"Very well. Your wish is my command, my beloved master," Saito slightly bowed in a comical manner, an attempt which brought out a genuine chuckle from Louise.

With everything forgiven and a pile of dishes awaiting them, the couple helps each other to their feet leaving the cold, hard floor below them, but not before picking up the chopstick scattered on the floor which without the need to be said, have to be rewashed. Naturally, Louise took her place in front of the sink while Saito went to the side, already making a headfirst by wiping the dishes she already washed earlier before arranging them in their specified racks.

Working together on the dishes, their companionship of more than two years can be seen through their movements, supporting and helping out the other without getting in the way. Perhaps it was hard to tell back when they used to fight all the time, but they always had good teamwork, and with the pace, they're going now, the chore would surely be done anytime soon.

While their hands continue to move, idle chatter between them starts to fill the air. None of the things they talk about is particularly important, but alas they enjoyed these simple conversations nonetheless. Looking at them from afar, the scene looks exactly like a heartwarming moment of a newlywed you can find in one of those romance dramas, but the difference is instead of actors, these two are truly a married couple. However...

"Hehe... Just a little more."

Smirking to himself, Saito constantly shifts his attention between the dishcloth in his hands, and his wife, waiting for the moment when she was most vulnerable. Yes... Our young Gandalfr, for better or worse hasn't learned his lesson yet as beneath his display of hard work, he was plotting something in his mind.

Like a predator patiently stalking its prey, Saito waited and waited while getting his own work done to avoid suspicion which isn't easy, but his dedication on the matter was unrivalled and it wasn't long until the window for him to act presented itself. Not missing the opportunity, Saito instantly leans close and... gently peck her cheek.

"Wha? W-w-what did you do that for?" Louise's eyes widened with shock, holding her right cheek as it turns bright red from the unexpected gesture.

"Hmm... No reason. Just felt like doing it," Saito grins at her, unable to hide the sense of victory filling his chest. It may just be the cheek, but a kiss is a kiss, and for him, that's already a win.

Satisfied with himself, Saito continues to wipe the dishes, acting as if nothing happened, leaving his wife both confused and flustered on the inside. Louise bites her lips in frustration, feeling like she's being toyed with not to mention completely losing to him, yet she pulled herself together and continues working alongside him in silence, not showing any indication of protesting further. For a second there, it seems as if peace has truly come to the night, that is until...

"You're open!"

Declaring that, before Saito's reflexes could keep up, Louise grabs him by the shoulder, pulling hard before planting a kiss on his cheek, returning the gesture from earlier.

"T-that... I-I also just felt like doing it, that's all."

Leaving the matter as it is, Louise retreats to her duties hoping to hide her embarrassment, an attempt which was doomed to fail anyway as Saito could easily see the redness colouring her face. A tiny laugh escapes him, yet he didn't comment on her actions, instead choosing to keep his attention on the work at hand, while enjoying her adorableness from the side. For the first time in a while, doing the dishes wasn't so bad after all.
