hi everyone! here's a new chapter. sorry it took me so long to update - normally i'm a lot quicker than that, but i'm being bombarded with schoolwork and i had this weird idea that i needed to post a chapter for all of my stories on the same day. anyways, enjoy the chapter!

CHAPTER 1 - ENDEARING

"Very nice." Rebekah praised as Bonnie did a three-sixty turn in front of her. They were at Bonnie's house trying on things that they bought at the mall and modeling for each other.

After the pair bonded in Chem class, they decided to have a girls day the day afterwards. They spent their Saturday chilling at Bonnie's house and watching the most monumental movies that Rebekah had missed out on while she was in her ninety year coma.

They got through Roman Holiday, Sixteen Candles, Clueless and The Bodyguard, with breaks in between of course.

They had a lot more to watch, but they realized that they should take a break from lazing on the couch, so they went shopping.

At the mall, Rebekah made the proposition to have her shop for Bonnie and have Bonnie shop for her, in order to 'mix up each other's styles'. Bonnie downright refused - she knew this was just an elaborate scheme to suppress the hippie and she wouldn't fall for it. After three different stores full of convincing, Bonnie agreed.

Now the girls were in Bonnie's bedroom, Rebekah snacking on a bag of chips and laying on her stomach on the bed. She had already completed her fashion show and reluctantly had to admit that she liked the sundress and sweater Bonnie had purchased for her.

"I don't know." Bonnie whined with a lopsided frown. "I feel like I look like a pumpkin."

She was currently modelling the orange top that Rebekah picked out. She liked the way it fit, but the colors reminded her of something somebody who would hang out with Jack Skellington would wear. Halloween vibes for sure.

"Oh, but you're my pumpkin, dear!" Rebekah teased, popping a Dorito in her mouth.

The Bennett witch stuck her tongue out. "I'll keep it. I like the way it fits, so I can look past the pumpkin. I have just one more dress."

Bonnie went back into her closet to change into the dress that Rebekah got for her. It was black and sleeveless with blue and purple flowers embroidered in it. Right up her alley.

When she slipped it on and looked at herself in the mirror, she couldn't stop the small gasp that escaped her lips.

"Was that a good gasp or a bad gasp, Pumpkin?" Rebekah asked from the other side of the door.

Bonnie tilted her head as she looked at herself. "I don't know."

The dress was beautiful. It flattered her in every possible way. She liked the dress, she looked gorgeous, her breasts looked great in it and most importantly, it made her feel confident , so why wasn't she sure about it?

"Okay…" Bonnie sighed. She stepped out of the dressing room and into Rebekah's line of sight, her face scrunched up.

The blonde original's eyes almost popped out of her damn head. The dress was perfect for Bonnie - she looked absolutely stunning. And above that, her boobs looked fantastic!

Bonnie looked unamused. "My eyes are up here."

"Oh, shut up. I mean, I'm not blind!" Rebekah said, still ogling her friend's knockers.

Bonnie rolled her eyes but had to chuckle. "So, do you like it? Like, other than the bazongas - is it okay?"

"Even if the bazongas weren't so prominent, I would still very much think you look bloody gorgeous." Rebekah said honestly. "You don't sound so sure about it, though." She looked at Bonnie with an elegantly raised brow.

Bonnie sighed. "It's just a little out of my comfort zone."

"What do you mean? It's perfectly hippie." Rebekah remarked.

"It's not that." Bonnie said with a pointed look. "I'm just not used to looking…"

"Good?" Rebekah suggested.

"Endearing. I was going to say endearing ." Bonnie glared.

"What do you mean by that, Pumpkin? I find you very endearing."

Bonnie plopped herself down next to Rebekah and sighed. "This dress is really… I don't know… stand-y out-y."

"Stand-y out-y?" Rebekah asked with an amused smile.

"Yes. Stand-y out-y." Bonnie said, nudging the blonde's shoulder. "But... I'm not used to looking stand-y out-y. It's easier to leave that for Care and Elena."

Rebekah scoffed at the mention of those two. "Bonnie, doppelgoblin and bimbo don't stand a chance against all of this." She motioned to Bonnie's body.

Bonnie had to giggle and shake her head at that. "Thanks, Bex."

"Just telling the truth. But now I know how we're going to spend the rest of our night." Rebekah said decidedly.

"Having sex?"

"Hm. As much as I like that idea, I'm going to have to raincheck. Right now, I'm giving you a makeover." She squealed.

"Oh dear god."

"Come on. It'll be just like in Clueless ." Rebekah said.

"I'm not as bad as Tai was!" Bonnie defended.

"Oh, Pumpkin. You really are. You're neglecting to take care of yourself. But don't worry. When I'm done with you, you're going to be the most stand-y out-y bitch in the whole world."

Bonnie groaned loudly, but eventually gave in and let Rebekah work her magic.

•••

Rebekah left later that night, leaving Bonnie to, for once, get a good night's sleep.

When she woke up, Bonnie didn't feel groggy. That was new for her in the morning. Instead of wanting to fall back into a deep sleep and forget about whatever mindless task she'd be forced to complete, she was ready to seize the day. She wasn't just saying Carpe Diem because she and Rebekah had watched Dead Poets Society after their makeover the night before (yeah, it kind of killed the mood but it was beautiful); she was actually excited for her day.

She smiled up at the ceiling of her room as if she was in a 90's rom com and hopped out of bed, prancing to the bathroom. She connected her phone to the speaker and put on Marvin Gaye's What's Going On and sang loudly, albeit horribly, to the words.

Her smile grew when she looked at herself in the mirror. Her undereye bags were gone and her skin looked glowing due to the facemask Rebekah made her put on (it was hidden in the back of her bathroom drawer, she couldn't even remember when she bought it).

She slept in a bonnet instead of sleeping with her hair out, and it worked out for her pretty well. She had experience taking care of her curls, but of course lately she hadn't been providing for them. The only aspect of her little makeover that Rebekah didn't help out with was her hair. Rebekah said that she should get used to taking care of her own curls again. She wouldn't have Rebekah the (apparent) kinky hair expert to style her locks every morning.

If it were possible, the witch's grin grew even more when she looked at her eyes in the mirror. They were bright and warm and happy - something she thought she'd lost a long time before. And that wasn't because of the makeover or any product she could've used. It was because for the first time in a long time, she felt like she had a friend.

Don't cry, Bon. The morning is just getting started.

She looked at the array of clothes in her closet, trying to decide what she should wear. She wanted something new . But of course, she was still going for hippie chic. She didn't have anything to do that Sunday, nowhere to go, but she still wanted to look cute. She wanted to look how she felt .

Just then, a black dress spread out on the floor caught her eye. The one Rebekah bought her. She picked it up and stared at it for a minute, questioning if she wanted to wear it.

"Ah, what the hell." She shrugged as she sauntered into the bathroom to put the dress on. It was out of her comfort zone, but she liked it. And that was what was important.

After doing her hair and putting on minimal makeup, she sashayed down the stairs to eat breakfast. Normally on the weekends she overslept and then woke up at that awkward time where you're unsure if you should eat breakfast or lunch, so she would just end up at the Grill eating a greasy burger.

But now she decided to make Grams' famous chocolate chip pancakes. She was usually a waffle girl, but Grams' pancakes were something else. She remembered eating what felt like pounds of them while she sat at the kitchen counter when she was younger.

Easy by The Commodores came on and Bonnie started singing loudly again.

" Because I'm easssaayyyyyy, easy like a Sunday morninnnnggggg…" She yodeled, completely off tune.

She heard a knock on the door and prayed to god that it wasn't somebody with super hearing, because her singing did not need to be heard.

Her smile dropped when she saw who it was. They definitely had super hearing. Both of them did.

The Salvatore brothers stood on her front porch, looking handsome and annoying as ever. Just when she thinks she's having a good day, these two come to kill her buzz.

"What do you want?" She greeted them coldly.

"Good morning to you too, witchy." Damon quipped. His eyes trailed down her body and his brows shot up. "What's the occasion?"

"Excuse me?"

"You look nice. Why?" He asked.

Stefan held the bridge of his nose and shook his head at his brother. Sometimes he wondered how he and Damon were related. Stefan wasn't interested in being there at all, but Damon felt the need to keep him within eyesight at all times. He was just going to stand quietly until he could go home.

Bonnie laughed in disbelief. "Damon, if you're here to ask for my help or something, this is not the way to do it. Bribery is always a better option than blatant insults."

Damon held his hands up in surrender. "I meant it as a compliment. You, uh, you clean up nice."

"Right." Bonnie leaned against the door frame. "So why are you guys here? Is Elena in trouble?" She couldn't help the slight urgency in her voice. Her concern for her friend was still prevalent, even though they hadn't really been close lately.

"No. What are you talking about? We're having the 'treaty lunch' with the Mikalesons today." Damon said, "Don't tell me you forgot."

Bonnie groaned. She did forget. Her day was going downhill fast. They were having lunch because the Mikaelson's wanted to make peace with them. They wanted to stay in Mystic Falls for a while, but they couldn't do that if they weren't at least civil acquaintances with the standard inhabitants of the town.

This was essentially a truce lunch. They'd be having idle conversation, not trying to kill each other. Bonnie really didn't want to go - until she realized that Rebekah would be there. It didn't seem so bad now.

"Just lemme get my bag." She shut the door behind her.

She turned her music off, slipped her boots on and grabbed her purse. She stepped outside, the brothers hadn't moved.

"Oh, you're driving, by the way." Damon said. "We walked."

Bonnie rolled her eyes.

They crammed into her prius. She was in the driver's seat, Damon in the back and Stefan in the passenger seat.

"Seatbelts on, everybody." Bonnie hummed as they pulled out of her driveway.

•••

The three of them got out of Bonnie's car when she pulled into the parking lot. They walked into the Grill in silence.

Bonnie looked around the crowded Grill, trying to spot the Mikaelsons. Finally, she found them sitting at a long table in the front. She recognized Rebekah, Klaus and Elijah, but there were two other men sitting with them that she'd never met before. One of them looked extremely uncomfortable with everything - really jittery. Perhaps he'd been daggered for a while and was unfamiliar with the loudness of the modern day?

The other man she didn't know was flirting with one of the waitresses while the rest of the siblings were clearly unamused with him.

When Bonnie and the Salvatore's were in view, all of the Mikaelsons' eyes trailed them. Rebekah jumped up from her seat to give Bonnie a hug.

"You're wearing the dress." Rebekah remarked while they embraced.

"I sure am. I really like it." Bonnie replied.

"I'm glad."

They pulled away to smile at each other, only to realize that the Salvatore and Mikaelson brothers were all staring at them with a range of emotions plastered upon their faces.

Damon looked shocked and confused - even Stefan showed a bit of surprise. This was the first either of them had heard about a friendship between Bonnie and Rebekah. The Mikaelson brothers all looked curious. They'd heard an earful about Rebekah's amazing new best friend Bonnie, but to actually see their sister light up when she saw her was quite intriguing. Klaus hadn't seen Rebekah smile like that for a while.

Since everybody else seemed to be frozen in place, Bonnie took it upon herself to get this show on the road. She cleared her throat and they all snapped out of it.

They all took their seats at the table.

Nobody really knew how to start this off, so they were all quiet. Bonnie and Rebekah exchanged a look. Must they do everything themselves?

Bonnie sighed. "There are some of you I don't know. Maybe we can go around and say names?" She suggested.

They all nodded, most of them unenthusiastically. "Let's go around this way." She motioned her hand clockwise. A bored looking Stefan was the lucky person sitting to her right.

"No." He replied simply. He wouldn't be participating in any part of this meeting.

Bonnie stepped on his foot. His jaw clenching was the only sign of pain he showed, even though her boots were chunky and it hurt like hell.

"Names, please." She repeated.

"I'm Stefan." He grunted as her foot dug into his.

"Hi, Stefan, it's nice to meet you." Bonnie said with an innocent smile. He glared at her and she removed her foot.

They went around the table saying names. The anxious guy who's name she didn't know was Finn Mikaelson. He had been daggered for the past nine-hundred years, and somehow nobody in his family noticed that he was clearly scared of public places. She decided that she'd make him a charm or something to help him tune out the noise. It was the least she could do for someone who'd spent the last thousand years trapped in a box.

The charmer who'd been flirting with the waitress was Kol Mikaelson. He was similar to Damon, with his blatant cockiness and constant urge to fight someone, but he was classier than Damon. He was more graceful. Less impulsive. Also, you could tell that with that many years of life under his belt (even if a good chunk of them he had spent daggered), he was extremely intelligent. Not that Damon wasn't smart, but he didn't give off the know-it-all energy that Kol did.

Bonnie's plan to have them introduce themselves seemed to help out well, because it got a conversation rolling.

It was mostly just Klaus and Damon arguing, Klaus and Stefan arguing, Klaus and Rebekah arguing - nevertheless it was a conversation.

Though there was a point in the lunch where the Mikaelson brothers took an interest in questioning Bonnie. She supposed it was because Rebekah had told them she made a friend they wanted to see if she was worthy of their sister or something like that.

"So, Bonnie, " Klaus started. The way her name sounded on her lips made the hair on the back of her neck stand up. It was smooth, velvety - but there was a hint of danger there. Almost like a threat. "How did you and Rebekah become such good friends?"

"Chem class." She looked at Rebekah. "Right, Bex?"

"That's right, Pumpkin. She helped me clean myself up after that evil bottle of Coca Cola exploded all over me." They smiled at each other.

"How lovely." Kol said with a flat smile. His grin turned predatory when he looked over at Bonnie. "Bonnie, darling, if you ever need assistance with your magic, I'm here. Y'know, I was a witch myself before I turned."

The rest of the Mikaelson siblings scoffed. Of course Kol was trying to pursue Bonnie. He always had a thing for witches. This was his way of doing it - asking them if they needed any help, inviting them over for cozy time and then ultimately getting in their pants.

"Rebekah told me." Bonnie said. Her expression turned sympathetic. "Losing your magic is tough. I can't imagine how it must be to have it indefinitely taken away."

"It is tough." His face became somber for a moment but he masked it up again quickly. "But like I said, if you ever need assistance with magic, you can come on over. My room is always open." He finished his sentence with a wicked smirk.

That earned him many eyerolls from around the table. Bonnie chuckled. "I'll think about it."

Stefan cleared his throat. He didn't know what was going on between Kol and Bonnie, but he did know that he didn't like it one bit.

"So, where's your mother?" Damon asked the Mikaelson's.

"She decided to stay home. But don't fret, I'm sure you'll be seeing more of her soon." Elijah replied.

"Oh, I'm not fretting." Damon muttered, taking a sip of his drink.

"Mother is very excited about being here. Being a family again." Finn said quietly. "It is very gracious of you to let our family remain in your home, even after all the ruckus my siblings have caused."

"Yes. I'm sure it is hard to trust our intentions after what has happened, but it's important to us that you know that we mean you no harm. Not anymore." Elijah agreed.

Bonnie sighed. She still didn't really like any of them besides Rebekah (Elijah screwed her over so she wouldn't even call herself acquaintances with him and she despised Klaus for obvious reasons), but she was willing to be civil for the sake of not only herself and her friends, but for pretty much everybody in town. "You haven't done anything to make us doubt you yet." Bonnie said. "You've all been… surprisingly nice. But don't think we won't be keeping our eyes on you. Nice is different than good." Damon nodded in agreement.

"Tell me, Ms. Bennett, what is your definition of 'good'?" Klaus inquired innocently.

"Not you." She replied with a grin. Her phone began ringing (Caroline was calling to vent about Tyler) and she picked it up. "Sorry, I have to take this. Be right back."

She left to go somewhere quieter, leaving every single person at the table staring at the corner she just turned.

"You were right, Rebekah." Kol said. Rebekah turned to her brother in question. "That Bonnie Bennett really is something."
