On board the Subspace army's airship, Robotnik and the Administrator gather by the computer and look at the footage of Sonic's group returning with the Phantom Thieves.
Dr. Robotnik: I was afraid they would be one step ahead of us. Two of our bombs got deactivated and now they've already recruited a number of people on the kill list.
Administrator: Hmm... It seems the boy in black looks very upset.
Dr. Robotnik: You mean the one with the two swords? Kirito's his name, right?
?: That's a name I haven't heard in quite a while.
Dr. Robotnik: If it isn't a friend who I once worked alongside with to experiment on all those players... I never thought I would be seeing your face again, Mr. Sugou.
Sugou: I would feel better if you didn't call me that while I am in the form of an old avatar.
Dr. Robotnik: So should I call you Oberon, then?
Sugou: That's acceptable.
Dr. Robotnik: I know you've done more than enough to make that boy angry. Are you planning to try and take his girlfriend as your own again?
Oberon: That may be something I should save for another time. Right now, there is nothing I wish to do more than to kill that brat.
Administrator: You wish for vengeance, I take it?
Oberon: Nothing more. Heheh...
Alarm: Warning! Warning! Intruder has boarded the Halberd! Warning!
Administrator: Looks like we have company.
Dr. Robotnik: It must be that knight again. Should we send Duon out?
Administrator: Actually, I will handle this.
Suddenly, coming from the door is Bowser, who then falls down on the floor.
Dr. Robotnik: Uh, you okay?
Bowser: What do you think?
Administrator: Anyway, I shall be off.
The former pontifex vanishes and teleports outside to see a round knight wearing a cape, mask, and sword in hand.
Administrator: You're not supposed to be here you know.
Meta Knight: You have no authority to say that to me.
Administrator: Perhaps I don't. But if you have something to say, then you may tell me.
The knight gets ready to fight.
Meta Knight: Give the Halberd back to me.
Administrator: You mean this ship? Ah, yes. It belongs to you, does it not? Well, unfortunately, we cannot give it back to you right now. We still have some business with it.
Meta Knight: I will not let you use the Halberd to wreak havoc in this world! I will make you and your leader give it back!
Administrator: This may be interesting. I think I may enjoy this.
The ex-pontifex summons a sword, ready to fight the masked knight.
Meta Knight: I will show you the power of Galaxia!
Meta Knight charges ahead at her, swinging his sword, and she tries to defend. So the fight begins with the two of them swinging blades at each other at incredible speed.
Meta Knight: You may be a worthy foe after all. I can see you're much different from Kirby.
Administrator: And you may very well be like someone I know. Perhaps you may soon meet him.
Meta Knight: Maybe I will.
Administrator: Hmph! Now then... Generate Umbra Element!
A load of umbra projectiles appear around her.
Administrator: Discharge!
They fire away at Meta Knight. But with Galaxia in hand, he deflects them all, causing the surrounding area to burst smoke. Carefully he looks at his surroundings.
Administrator: HYYAAAAHHH!
With the knights quick reaction time, he was able to parry the strike from a sword skill from behind. With the former pontifex staggered, the knight vanishes.
Administrator: Huh? Where did he...?
He reappears behind her, and finally strikes at her incredibly hard with Galaxia, causing her to flinch and get on her knees.
Meta Knight: Checkmate.
Administrator: Hehehehe... That's three times I've been defeated. How ironic.
Meta Knight: No demi-god has the power to defeat me. Know my power.
Administrator: Swords aren't just metal after all. Well, since I'm too wounded, I had better retreat, and let the others handle this.
She flies away, back to the command room.
Meta Knight: Now to take back the Halberd.
As he moves on ahead, a giant two-sided robot shows up.
Dr. Robotnik: Hohohohoho! Say hello to Duon! I suggest you say your prayers, knight!
Meta Knight: It will be you who will say your prayers, when you hand back the Halberd!
The pink side of the robot fires its arm cannons rapidly at the masked knight, and he was able to deflect all of the projectiles with Galaxia. Then, the blue robot swings around and strikes at him with its arm swords, causing the area to be filled with smoke.
Duon: *Beep Beep?*
As the robot loses sight of the knight, a horizontal flash pierces through, slicing the robot in half, and making it explode.
Meta Knight: Pathetic.
Oberon: He's good.
Bowser: Oh, just what are we gonna do? This guy just got the best of Administrator, and now Duon?
Dr. Robotnik: Looks like I'll have to send in my trump card.
Robotnik presses a button on the computer.
Dr. Robotnik: Trump card! Go!
As Meta Knight was about to enter the ship, he was stopped by a certain blue robot.
Meta Knight: Another machine to fall by my blade?
Metal Sonic: *Beep Beep Boop!*
Oberon: I take it that must be the hedgehog's metal counterpart.
Dr. Robotnik: The Hard-Boiled Heavies just recently gave it a big upgrade. Huge in fact.
Meta Knight: Hmph! If you think a machine can take me down, think again.
Metal Sonic: *Beep Beep Beep!*
The robotic duplicate of Sonic speeds on at the knight, causing him to gasp and block its first strike with its claws.
Meta Knight: That was rather close.
Metal Sonic summons the Yukihira blade and relentlessly strikes at the knight, attempting to flank him from behind with its speed.
Meta Knight: This one is too fast. It may be difficult for me to keep up.
The knight keeps attempting to strike back at the robot, but his reaction time certainly isn't enough to withstand its attacks. Eventually, the knight starts getting tired and panting.
Meta Knight: This does not seem good. Ah!
The robot finishes the knight with a big laser beam, sending him flying off the ship.
Meta Knight: GAAAHHHHH!
The robot looks down and sees the knight falling down beneath the clouds.
Metal Sonic: *Beep Boop*
Dr. Robotnik: GAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Even he couldn't handle Metal Sonic with the way he is now! I gotta reward Heavy King later. Heh heh!
Administrator: How strange. It seems the robot is more powerful than me after all. Hmph!
Dr. Robotnik: That's probably because of how fast it is, and how it was able to copy the abilities of the students at the IS Academy. It's also supposed to match Sonic's speed.
Administrator: Indeed.
Oberon: I must say. That upgrade has definitely changed Metal Sonic.
Dr. Robotnik: Yes. Definitely. Well, now that that knight is gone, we will be reaching our next destination soon. DK Island.
