Sonic makes his way around Shibuya to look for Eugeo, Alice, as well as Ronie, Tiese, and Sortiliena.
Sonic: Alright. I hope they're not making any trouble. They still haven't been in this world very long, even though Eugeo and Alice have been here longer than Ronie, Tiese, or Sortiliena. Then again, they should probably know their way around Shibuya by now, considering it's been a few weeks, Rinko's been looking after them, and they've been hanging out with Kirito and the others.
?: Hey Sonic! Over here!
The familiar voice leads him to Leafa, who is with Eugeo and Alice's group, plus two bandicoots, a talking mask, a kid angel, and a green-haired lady.
Leafa: Hi Sonic!
Sonic: Hey Leafa. Thought you were with Liz, Amy, and the others. My group already came back, so we're trying to check in on everybody.
Leafa: Yeah. They should all be heading back now. We were able to find little purple dragon named Spyro.
Eugeo: And we've met these people right here. They're actually people we're looking for.
Coco: Nice to meet you. The Wumpa Islands got blown up, but thankfully these two saved us.
Sonic: Sorry to hear that. So what are your names?
Coco: Oh yeah. I'm Coco. This is my brother, Crash, and that's Aku Aku.
Crash: Hi.
Aku Aku: The pleasure is all ours.
Palutena: My name is Palutena. This is Pit.
Pit: Hey there.
Sonic: Well, glad you guys are here then. But what have you been doing?
Ronie: Oh, well Leafa, Crash, and Coco took us out shopping. There are so many interesting places here in the real world.
Sortiliena: To be honest, this world is completely different from ours.
Tiese: They have also taken us to watch this... Movie? Is that what it's called?
Sonic: Really? A movie? Which one did you see?
Pit: The Nutty Professor. And man, that was hilarious!
Sonic: Pfft! Hahahahaha! That's one of my favorites! To be honest, that definitely reflects on Robotnik!
Coco: I know, right?!
Everybody has a laugh together when talking about the movie.
Eugeo: By the way Sonic, here.
Eugeo hands over an emerald to Sonic.
Eugeo: We found this Chaos Emerald when we were searching for Crash and Coco.
Sonic: Great! That's five emeralds in our possession! Robotnik has one of them with him so we gotta nab that from him, and there's still another one that's missing.
Palutena: Then we should make haste and get everyone together so we can take it back.
Sonic: Right. Well...
Sonic gets interrupted by a phone call from Ichika's older sister.
Sonic: Huh... Miss Orimura's calling.
He answers it.
Sonic: Yep?
Chifuyu: Sonic. We need you back at West Side Island, ASAP. We're under attack.
Sonic: On my way!
He hangs up.
Sonic: We gotta get back to West Side Island! Fast!
Everybody rushes back to the home base at Emerald Hill Zone, which is now being attacked by Robonik's badniks. Yu manages to take down a number of them with his sword, and the same goes for Joker with his dagger and gun.
Joker: I didn't think we would team up like this again, Yu.
Yu: I had that same feeling. But I guess Minato and his group aren't here.
Joker: I guess they're not on the list.
Mona cuts a motobug in half with his sword, and the flicky that appears out of it flies around him.
Mona: Heheh... No need to thank me. Just here to help out.
It flies away.
Mona: I was thinking that myself. Minato is a wild card just like you two.
Yosuke: Fighting video game bad guys. Not how I thought this day would go.
Ragna: Trust me. We all know today's pretty weird and all. But...
They take a good look at Kirito and his sword skills.
Kirito: HAAAAHHHH!
He slices his way through each of the badniks with both Elucidator and Dark Repulser in hand.
Chie: Check him out. He's really going all out.
Tsubaki: Kirito is his name, yes?
Noel: Ruby told us about Sword Art Online on our way back. That must be where he learned those sword skills from.
Yuuki: He and Sonic were the ones who beat the final boss of SAO from what I've heard.
Kanji: Wait. Really?! Sonic and Kirito did it?!
Klein: You bet. I've witnessed it myself, actually. Sonic and Kirito are both the best.
Kirito: (They're really saying a lot about us. I mean yeah, it's true that me and Sonic beat Heathcliff, except it wasn't in a sophisticated way. But he spared mine and Asuna's lives so that we could make a future for the virtual world and bring both that and the real world closer together. Actually, with Yui, Strea, Eugeo, Alice, and the fact that we can use our avatars in the real world, I think both worlds have finally merged together.)
Asuna: Kirito. Are you alright?
Kirito: Uh, yeah. I guess that's one wave cleared.
Hyde: So how is it that your swords can glow a certain color sometimes when you fight?
Kirito: Uh... It's called a light effect. It's something that usually happens in full dive VRMMO's like ALO whenever you use a sword skill.
Yu: And you're able to pull it off in the real world. That's to say you're taking the form of your virtual avatars. I'm assuming the avatars you and Asuna are using are from SAO?
Ragna: That reminds me. How are you able to do that?
Kirito: There's this machine that allows people to take the form of their main characters IRL. It also brings their skills and stats to the real world.
Makoto: How does that even work, though?
Kirito: Umm...
Chifuyu: Another wave is coming! Stay focused! Metal Sonic and Sugou are with them, and they're approaching fast! It looks like there's a lot more than what we just dealt with.
Ichika: Metal Sonic... This might be a problem. He has the power of our personal IS units now.
Oracle: He never had that kind of power in the video games!
Laura: You can thank the Hard-Boiled Heavies for the upgrade.
Houki: Just stay vigilante and everything will be fine.
Jin: Here they come.
Sugou and Metal Sonic approaches with a massive swarm of buzz bombers, egg robos, crabmeats, and motobugs. As they get close enough, they stop moving.
Mayumi: What's going on?
Oberon: Heh heh.
The mad king Oberon steps up first, looking at Kirito with a devilish smile, which then gives the Black Swordsman a certainly angry look.
Oberon: It's been quite a while, Kirigaya.
Kirito: What do you want, Sugou?
Oberon: Oh my. What a way to greet your old friend.
Kirito: We are not friends. Now cut to the chase before I lose my patience.
Oberon: Fine. Now hear me out. We only came here to collect the Chaos Emeralds you have. There does not have to be any trouble. If you hand them over, we will walk away freely. But if you don't, well, I can't guarantee your safety.
Tatsuya: You and the Subspace Army are already causing more than enough trouble.
Kirito: It's not gonna happen, Sugou.
Oberon: What a shame. I don't want to have to destroy you all in one go. And besides...
The devilish king walks up to Kirito, and whispers in his ear.
Oberon: I'm sure Little Yui would still love to see the flowers.
With that, Kirito gasps.
Oberon: Heh heh heh. That reaction of yours is exactly what I love to see. Yes. She's currently in our possession. Weather you hand over the emeralds or not, she will soon meet her doom.
Kirito: You... I... I...
Oberon: Hmm?
Kirito: I'LL KILL YOOOOUUUU!
The angry Black Swordsman strikes at him with his dual blades, but they end up hitting a barrier surrounding him.
Asuna: KIRITO!
Oberon: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! THAT'S THE SPIRIT, KIRITO! THAT'S THE SPIRIT!
All of the robots start attacking the others.
Oberon: You have nothing to worry about, Kirigaya. At least for now. I'll be taking good care of the child.
Kirito: SHUT UP! GIVE HER BACK!
Sugou vanishes.
Kirito: WHAT?! WHERE ARE YOU?!
Oberon: I'd love to stay and talk, but I have work to do. But don't worry. We will settle this in time.
Kirito: NO! GET BACK HERE!
No response. As Metal Sonic was about to strike Kirito, the robot suddenly gets hit by his genuine rival, Sonic.
Sonic: You can all relax, now! We're here!
Tails, Knuckles, Mighty, Ray, plus Leafa's and Eugeo's group arrive, along with Crash Bandicoot and a little purple dragon.
Spyro: How's it going?!
Yang: About time you showed up! We're dealing with a massive army of robots here! Maybe something more.
Leafa: Big Brother. Are you alright?
Eugeo: Kirito! What happened?
Kirito: I swear. I will kill Sugou.
Alice: Sugou?
Sonic: Alright! Let's make this quick!
Sonic uses his spin dash to knock Metal Sonic far back. Meanwhile, Eugeo stabs the ground with the Blue Rose Sword.
Eugeo: Enhance Armament!
Using perfect weapon control, he freezes all of the ground badniks.
Joker: Time to take the stage.
The leader of the Phantom Thieves takes off his mask.
Joker: PERSONA!
Behind him, a powerful spirit known as Arsene appears, and with the flash of a sword, the spirit takes down a massive number of badniks.
Tails: Woah! Joker! That's... Wow!
Yu: And he's not the only one.
A glowing card appears in front of Yu, and he grabs it with his left hand.
Yu: PERSONA!
Like Joker, Yu also summons a powerful spirit known as Izanagi, which then makes a massive lightning storm rain down, electrifying loads of badniks.
Oracle: Looks like there's not that many left!
Alice: I will finish them.
Alice raises her sword up high.
Alice: Enhance Armament!
She uses her perfect weapon control off to finish all of the robots.
Sonic: You're all alone now, Metal! Just 1 against how many of us exactly? Well, who cares. So what's it gonna be?
Metal Sonic: ...
Sonic's metal counterpart looks around at everybody, and then summons both the imitated Yukihira and Karaware, and he starts flying up in the air, ready to charge at Sonic.
Sonic: Well I warned ya.
The robot starts striking at Sonic with both swords in hand. Luckily, Sonic is able to evade those strikes.
Sonic: It's kind of like fighting Kirito. Except it's Metal me.
Metal Sonic: (Beep beep beep!)
Queen: Amazing.
Teddie: I don't think I've ever seen anybody move that fast before.
Yosuke: You think?
Sonic: Wait for an opening?
As Metal Sonic gets close enough, he starts using the 16-hit dual-wielding sword skill, Starburst Stream. Fortunately, Sonic was able to quickly pull off a reversal, and get him in the back with a spin dash.
Sonic: Let's finish this!
With that, he uses his spin dash, but as Metal Sonic recovers, he stops the spin dash with AIC.
Sonic: Oh crud. I can't move.
Metal Sonic (Beep Beep)
And the robot fires a big beam at Sonic, forcing him to hit a wall really fast.
Tails: SONIC!
Sonic: Ngh!
As Metal Sonic gets closer to the hedgehog to finish him off, he activates the Yukihira's barrier disabling skill.
Kirito: NO!
Kirito starts running to Metal Sonic with his dual blades to try and stop him.
Asuna: KIRITO! NO!
Leafa: BIG BROTHER!
Metal Sonic finds the Black Swordsman getting closer. As he does, he swings the Yukihira blade at him. But knowing it was going to cut right through his swords to Kirito's body, Tatsuya takes out his CAD, and disables the Yukihira's barrier move, and also destroys both swords, but that didn't stop him from trying to activate AIC. But unfortunately for Metal, he's unable to do so. And so Kirito was successfully able to strike at him with Cygnus Onslaught.
Knuckles: YES!
Metal Sonic: (Beep Beep...)
Metal Sonic tries to summon the IS weapons, but unfortunately, thanks to Tatsuya, he just lost all their abilities.
Mighty: Looks like you got downgraded. What are you gonna do now?
Metal Sonic: ...
The robot makes his escape and flies away.
Sonic: Yeah... Ngh! That's what I thought.
Amy rushes over to Sonic, hugging him.
Amy: OH SONIC!
Sonic starts coughing.
Sonic: Hey hey! *Cough* Quit it...
Everybody rushes over to Sonic to help him.
Joker: Are you alright?
Sonic: Guys. Seriously. I'm fine. I can get up.
The hedgehog gets back up, but falls, with Kirito catching him.
Sonic: That's probably not a good sign.
Miyuki: Don't overwork yourself. You've taken a serious hit.
Sonic: And like I said. I'll be okay. And you Kirito, I know you're not off the hook.
Asuna: Kirito! You idiot! If Tatsuya hadn't stopped Metal Sonic... I... I don't know what I...
Ronie: Kirito-Senpai... You don't know how worried you made us feel.
Kirito: I'm sorry. But one of us had to stop him. Otherwise Sonic would have...
Eugeo: But that still didn't stop you from giving us all heart attacks. In fact, Sonic's in the same position.
Sonic: No duh... Oww!
Tails: Guys... We need to help Sonic instead of arguing!
Tatsuya: Tails is right. We can talk about this later. Let's just take Sonic to Cardinal so he can recover.
