"Hey, mind if I ask you a question?" Kaminari drew himself out of his daze and turned his attention towards Jirou. It was a few moments between when homeroom would start so members of their class were beginning to trickle in. It had been a couple of days since the U.S.J attack so some people were talking amongst themselves about what kind of attention they got while walking around and what they might do because of Aizawa's injuries.
He didn't get any sadly, but that was also because he didn't interact with any humans over the two days.
Ok, now that he thought that out, it sounds really pathetic and lonely.
"Yeah, what's up?" She set her paper down and stared at him.
"Why did you lie to that officer?" She asked. Kaminari looked at her in shock. His mind instantly recalled what she was talking about, regarding Feedback's presumed criminal status. And he now remembered the conflicting stories he gave to the police and Jirou, which in hindsight was a dumb idea since he would know by this point that she had super hearing as a by-product of her quirk.
Ok, he might need to demonstrate his lying skills quickly.
"I just didn't want to rat him out! I can't do that to a buddy." He lied. Jirou eyed him with suspicion.
"You made friends with a random guy you just met?" She interrogated. Kaminari leaned slightly back as a way to get himself more ground. He tried to think of an excuse, but the door opened before he could think of one.
They all turned their attention to the door where what they could describe as a mummy walked in. They were all silent as they watched him lumber over to the desk and turned to them.
"Morning class."
Most of the class was taken aback at the identity of the mummy, although it was obvious now. He sported the same roguish and unkempt hair, same plain and raggy clothing and he sported a cast where he broke his arm.
"Aizawa sir! Are you sure you should be teaching while in this state?" Iida asked in concern. The mummified teacher creepily turned and looked at his student.
"I'm still functional. I can teach. It's what this job is, anyway." He explained, much to the dismay of the more light-hearted members of 1-A. He looked over them in interest.
"In other news, we have something for you guys to prepare for." Aizawa told them. The group became tense, expecting some intense training and painful experience.
"You guys know about the Sports Festival?" And with that single phrase, the class grew in excitement. He held his hand up in an attempt to calm them down, which succeeded but most remained excited.
"The Sports Festival, as you know, is a well acclaimed event we have every year where members of each year compete in a tournament. You've probably seen this on television anyway." He explained to them, most of it falling on deaf ears from the class.
"But sir, is it reasonable to hold this after what happened at the USJ? What if there is another attack?" Midoriya asked, and Bakugo laughed at his question.
"No way the villains are stupid enough to attack again, especially since so many pros also watch this in the stands." He boasted. Aizawa nodded to his statement before he resumed talking.
"We're still doing it for two main reasons. We need to restore the public's faith in our ability to teach and raise the new generation of heroes. We're essentially doing it so soon for publicity." He explained the rather blunt truth. That certainly dampened the spirit among the class. But he didn't seem to care that much.
"Secondly, like what Bakugo said, pros regularly attend the festivities. For this year we're even requesting some more pros to attend as security. Which leads me into another part of this conversation. Now, does anyone here know the real purpose of the sports festival?" The class remained silent as they turned around, looking for someone who knew. Iida smirked and raised his hand up high. Aizawa nodded and he stood up.
"The purpose of the sports festival is actually for scouting. Shortly after the festival, students in the hero course enter internships with pros to get experience in the outside world." He explained. The class nodded as they understood his point.
"Now, for the other courses. What's the purpose?" Aizawa remarked in a confident tone. Iida grew silent and sat back down in defeat. The class tried to think about his question before he resumed.
"Depending on the abilities of either a hero course or other classes, will determine if they stay in that class. In other words, if a general studies student does exceptionally well over a hero course student, the two might swap classes. Meaning you'll lose your ability to become a pro until you manage to get back into the hero course again." The class grew tense as the words frightened them. This time it wasn't if they under performed they would get kicked out, but if someone else just did better in the festival. After a few brief moments, the fear was slowly replaced with the burning embers of passion and determination.
"Well, that's what I expected. Anyway, you have one week to prepare for the festival. I expect you guys to train until then." He requested them. Kaminari subtly nodded to his request, thinking about what he, Sero and Kirishima were going to do later that day.
The bell chimed and the class stood up to get ready to go to their first period class. Except there was noise coming from the door now, and it was rapidly beginning to pick up. Those who were in the front of the class looked at the other in fear before opening the door.
An endless sea of students were just outside their door. Endless colors and voices tried to overpower each other and get to the front of the door. Kaminari was concerned over the sheer amount of them and why they would even be here.
"Wait, why does it look like the entire school is here?" Midoriya asked, seemingly to Kaminari's benefit.
"It's because they wanna scout out the competition. Get out of my way, you extras." Bakugo pushed his way through the class and made his way to the front of the door. The only thing that stopped him was a grey haired student with thick lashes standing in the doorway.
"Man, this is 1-A? You guys seem really confident huh? Think you're better than us?!" He shouted. Bakugo stared at him intensely with malice.
"Move." He coldly demanded.
"Bakugo! How could you say that about our classmates?" Iida criticized him with the wave of his arm. He looked back at him and returned his gaze to the crowd without a second thought.
"Man, what is with you?" The student shouted at him. A small amount of laughter came from behind him as a student pressed his way through. He sported shaggy purple hair and tired eyes, although they looked at them with venom.
"It's 1-A. You seem cocky after the villain attack huh?" He boasted coldly. The class looked at him, and only Bakugo looked at malice.
"You know some of us don't get a chance to be heroic or fight villains. Some of us have to start at the bottom. We aren't blessed in the same way you are." He commented. Kaminari gulped as the last phrase seemed more directed towards him than anyone else.
"So?" Bakugo replied without any concern for his declaration. The purple haired student looked insulted but he didn't really show it.
"So? It's simple. We here are going to bring you all down off your high horses." He declared with a wave of his hand, turning around and melting back into the crowd. The class watched as everyone tried to get a look at them as Kaminari looked at Sero and Kirishima.
Well, they at least have that thing later on and that student was certainly something.
…
The group quietly crept to the edge of the road, looking at the parking lot that led into the worn down factory. They couldn't see any interactions outside but the building looked operational from a close distance with the small glow behind the dingy window and small sounds of machinery working.
"Well, we know we have the right place, but what is the plan?" Sero asked. Kaminari looked at the factory and thought for a second.
"I mean, what's even our plan?" Kaminari asked.
"Well, we gotta stop them. So we should probably destroy the machines used for the batteries. With that, they wouldn't be able to supply their weaponry until they fix it." Kirishima explained. Kaminari nodded and looked down at the Omnitrix.
"Are you sure you need to use that? Your quirk might be all we need." Sero countered.
"Well, I don't have control over it. I might hurt you guys if I ever discharge." He explained. The duo were quiet for a second before Sero thought of another plan.
"Maybe Upgrade or Ampfibian should help us the most." He explained.
"Well, I also got Feedback. He could help." He explained as he opened the hologram dial.
"What does he do again?" Kirishima asked him. Kaminari looked up at him as he dialed in Feedback and the dial popped up.
"Well, he has the ability to absorb electricity and discharge it. Hence Feedback. He might be able to use the machines' own electricity and power to destroy the machines." He told them.
"Well, regardless we should have the advantage." Kirishima said without a sense of irony. Kaminari nodded and pressed the dial down to transform.
His skin shifted to green as his torso shrunk slightly. His arms thinned out as his fingers receded into his hand, leaving three fingers on his hand. His legs twisted and bent, becoming multi jointed as film with a black streak connected his lower part of his leg with the upper. His toes receded as well, giving him two claws and one in the back of his foot. His neck thinned as his head hardened. Three horns splintered off his head, a large one in the middle of his forehead and two smaller ones where his eyes were.
Finally, a yellow and black striped jumpsuit appeared on his torso where the Omnitrix appeared on his stomach.
Kaminari looked at his arms and then the rest of his body in confusion. He facepalmed as Kirishima and Sero looked at him with a questionable look.
"I don't think you're Feedback." Sero concluded.
"You think I don't know that? Why do I have a bug in this thing?" Kaminari said in a chirpy voice while looking down. Kirishima looked at him and crouched down. Kaminari and Sero looked down at him.
"What are you doing?" Kaminari asked him.
"What is this stuff?" Kirishima questioned. He brought his finger and poked the webby part of his leg. Kaminari shivered as his leg twitched. Kirishima stood back up and wiggled his fingers to get rid of the weird feeling.
"Well, you remind me of a grasshopper. Maybe that's something?" Sero said. Kaminari hung his arms down in defeat.
"That's lame…" He sighed.
"Who knows? Maybe there are some hidden things about him?" Sero said to motivate him.
"Well, let's get a move on then!" Kaminari chirped. They all nodded and moved out of the bush and onto the street. They made their way up to the warehouse, where it remained the same as before. So no one had noticed they were there yet.
Until they heard the sounds of the windows opening and barrels being brought out.
"WE NEED A NEW PLAN!" Sero yelled. Kirishima hardened and stood in front of him as a shield as blaster fire started to rain down on them. Kaminari started to panic as the beams narrowly missed them here and then.
Well, he might need to rush forward to get inside.
He leaned forward and bent his legs. He pushed forward, expecting to get a surge of speed to get inside.
What he got instead was him shooting forward like he was a rocket ship, ramming into the metal doors and busting them off the hinges. He caught himself before he could stumble in and tried to see how his head felt, but was amazed by the fact he didn't actually feel like he had a concussion.
"Ook, so this guy is like a loaded rocket! Cool!" He commented as he looked into the smoke.
Oh wait a second.
The smoke started to die down as he got a visual of the factory from the inside, where he saw lines upon lines of conveyor belts and machines creating small canisters from what looked to be a furnace.
But almost every resident of the factory had their guns aimed at him.
"Sorry for the barge!" He shouted and he leapt back in a burst of speed, narrowly missing the chance to become swiss cheese. He dug his claws into the ground and slowed his speed down as he drifted back to Kirishim and Sero.
"So you're a battering ram as a grasshopper…" Sero commented before growing quiet.
"Crashopper." Kaminari finished. Sero sighed in defeat.
"I knew it was coming, why did I say anything?" Sero mumbled in defeat. He looked at the building as a large group of the residents were lining up at the door and windows to take easy shots.
'Well, we have only one way to go. Let's hope Crashopper has enough leg power to get us out of the way!' He thought. He wrapped his arms around the two and kicked up, launching the trio up and over the parking lot and onto the ceiling of the building with a satisfying thump. He let the two go and looked at the small creator he formed when he landed.
"Ok, so how do we get in? Or you know, what's our plan?" Sero asked. Kirishima looked at Kaminari and back down at the ceiling.
"Well, it's simple. Kaminari takes care of the machines. Me and Sero got the alien buddies." He said. Before anyone could get any input in, Kirishima punched the ceiling and made a hole in it, where he ripped it open into a sizable hole and jumped in as he was shot at. Kaminari smiled and hopped in after them. Kirishima was making quick work of most of the aliens, already having a few of them knocked out.
'Well, let's get hoppy!' He looked at the wall and pushed forward, leaping onto the wall. He hit the wall and pushed off again, smashing into one of the machines and breaking into shreds.
He stood and watched as his friends fought the workers. He smiled and looked at the platforms that formed walkways looping the edge of the factory.
Well, if he was a super powered battering ram, he should use it.
He began to jump around, using the walls and ceiling to rebound around. The machines began to get ripped apart and the holes started to appear in the walkways. On occasion, he would ram into an alien that was trying to use their position as an advantage to shoot.
The factory became a warzone, as the trio began to destroy all of the machines inside. Metal shreds and pieces flew around, along with the green blur that was Crashopper. Sero and Kirishima worked like a well oiled machine themselves, with Sero immobilizing and disarming aliens for Kirishima to take out himself.
Soon, all the machines were smoking and in pieces of scraps. All the residents of the factory themselves were knocked out and on the ground. Kaminari landed next to the duo and the group looked at each other.
"Well, that went strangely better than I thought." Kaminari said.
"Yeah, although I did notice something." Sero commented. He tilted his head up, where there was a room with glass that overlooked the entire factory. Sero taped up there and Kaminari grabbed Kirishima and hopped up there. He set Kirishima down and the three of them walked into the room, which looked to be a control panel and observatory.
"I noticed while I was taping around." He walked over to the wall, where an old dial phone was. He looked around and found a small sheet of paper with numbers on it. He showed them the sheet and Kaminari skimmed it over.
"Phone numbers? Why does that matter?" He chirped. Sero turned back to the phone and began to dial in a number. They were quiet as he picked it up as the sound of the tone went through.
"What do you think he's doing?" Kirishima asked Kaminari as he leaned in.
"Besides calling someone, I have no idea." He said. Finally, the phone clicked and the group became silent.
"Yes Gualmen?" Someone on the other side. Sero cleared his throat before he started to speak.
"Uh, yeah. I was wondering where I needed to deliver the new batch of batteries to." Sero said in a gruff voice, obviously trying to mimic someone older.
"Who is this? Are you the ones who have been trying to stop us?" The voice on the other side immediately cut through the fog and called Sero out. He gulped before he returned to his normal voice.
"Yeah. We are the guys who are going to stop you. Got an issue with that?" He replied, trying to be threatening.
"Well, let me tell you kid. Come to us. We're in Undertown in the caves by the electronic stores to the east. You wanna play hero? Then come and try to stop us, and you'll regret it for the short amount of time you will have left." The phone clicked after that threat. Sero stared at the phone and then at the others.
"Well he was quick to the point." Kaminari said.
"Did we make a mistake?" Kirishima asked. Sero chuckled and put the phone on the wall.
"If they are anything like their lackeys, probably easy. He's just trying hard to be threatening." He remarked with a hint of concern in his voice.
"Well… we know where they are so let's go get them?" Kaminari said without any sense of confidence.
"Yeah, we got this…" Kirishima confirmed with the same tone of uncertainty.
…
The trio stood outside of the location they were given, expecting the worst. But it seemed relatively calm. No one was outside or there appeared to be any sense of danger nearby. The trio looked at each other before they approached the shady entrance. Kaminari gulped and dialed in Feedback. A flash later and the cyclops was standing side by side with Sero and Kirishima.
"Oh, so this is Feedback." Sero commented. Kaminari nodded with a smirk.
"Yup, he's pretty cool. Might be useful later." He mentioned. With that, they began their trip in. Kaminari kept his hands out in anticipation for any electricity that he could absorb and use. Sero was on edge, with his eyes darting around in the dingy lit room. Kirishima had already taken the initiative and had hardened parts of his body in case someone started the fight.
Strangely, they didn't meet anyone. No sounds. No nothing.
The caves began to twist and turn, and the trio just followed their gut as they traveled. The quality of the cave began to improve, with an actual floor and brighter lights. The trio looked at each for a brief moment as they continued on the main tunnel.
But soon, a fork appeared. The main tunnel continued onwards but it had two tunnels branch off. The tunnels looked identical with no indication that there was anything different with either one.
"Well, this is new. All the other branching off tunnels had been on the sides, not on the main path." Kaminari stated the obvious, but the others nodded.
"Well, why don't we cover one tunnel. I'll take the middle and you guys can take the sides." Sero stated. Kirishima and Kaminari looked at each other and Kaminari held out his fist. Kirishima caught on and the two initiated a game of rock, paper, scissors.
"And of course you picked rock.." Kaminari mumbled in defeat. Kirishima laughed as he made his way to the left tunnel. Kaminari looked over at his tunnel and sighed.
Well, at least he was a super powered extension cord.
The trio began to walk down their paths and Kaminari took note of his tunnel. He looked up at the light in the ceiling and stabbed it with his tendril, syphoning off some electricity for later. He continued forward, noticing the air seemed to get clearer. He even noticed some plants were digging into the wall but they weren't the ones he noticed. Alien but not from Eric and Glenn's planet, that's for sure.
He continued until he reached a large room, which was more green than anywhere in Undertown. Vines and flowers lined the walls, with no sign of tech anywhere. Kaminari looked around, expecting to see something of value.
"Hi."
Kaminari looked up and saw what he could describe to be one of those venus flytrap plants looking at him. He watched as tendrils whipped around to drift the plant down. He gulped as he looked at the plant, noticing the sharp teeth on the end of the sort of popped collar he sported.
"Nice place?" Kaminari awkwardly said. The plant looked around and sighed.
"It is, but it's not as nice as home." He looked back at him and smiled. "Well, my name is Bateson, what's yours?"
Kaminari was weirded out by his generosity and kindness, especially since he expected more conflict. "Uh, it's Feedback." He told him.
"Hmmm, Feedback. An interesting name. When Kane said someone had opposed us, I was informed there were some other aliens in that group." He told Kaminari. Kaminari started to feel uneasy. Something was up but he couldn't tell what it was. Bateson looked at him and smiled.
"It's a shame really. I was looking forward to seeing what an Arachnichimp tasted like." Kaminari's stomach sank with that. Did he just say taste?
At that moment, he remembered what Venus Flytraps did.
Eat bugs.
Something wrapped around his leg and hoisted him up above Bateson, who's smile had twisted into one that was more sinister and cynical.
"Well, I guess you'll do. Whatever you are." Fueled by fear, Kaminari wasted no time blasting him with all the electricity he had absorbed straight into his face. He was let go, and with the experience of being Crashopper earlier, he managed to land somewhat comfortably. He stood, admiring the fact he managed to get out of that situation.
"Sorry, I'm no one's food." He remarked as he turned around. But a bubbling sound stopped him. He turned around and watched in horror as the stalk bubbled and regrew. Bateson's head reformed and he was staring at him with newfound intensity.
"You know, there is always more thrill in a fight when the prey fights back." He remarked, right before he threw two tendrils forwards, wrapping around Kaminari's legs. He yelped as Bateson picked him up and slammed him into the ground. He groaned in pain as he was lifted up again but slammed into the wall this time. The plants on the wall barely cushioned the blow, due to their sharp thorns. He cried out in pain and tried to fire more electricity at Bateson, but remembered he used up all of his power to get out of his grapple. His distress was evident to Bateson who sneered.
"Ah, you can't use your electricity anymore. Shame, but it wouldn't work anyway. I can just regenerate it back." He mocked as he let go of Kaminari. He barely had time to react before he started getting punched and slammed into the wall over and over again. Bateson stopped his assault and Kaminari collapsed onto the ground.
He was sore all over. Pain racked his body and he barely had the strength to stand up. He sluggishly ran forward and threw a punch with all his strength. Bateson laughed as he essentially bounced off and he threw him again. Kaminari rolled on the ground, picking up dust as he felt a strange surge. A red flash enveloped him and he looked at his hands as he stopped.
'A time out?! NOW? It hasn't been ten minutes yet! Why am I human again?' He looked at the Omnitrix for answers, only to be greeted by the red interface of a recharge.
"Hey, what was that buddy? Some ability you didn't use before?" Kaminari glanced towards the shadowy figure of Bateson as he approached. He managed to stand up, with only the tinge of pain from before.
'Well, if electricity works on him, let's give him a shock!' He channeled his quirk through his hands and feet, discharging around him and luckily hitting Bateson. It went quiet as Kaminari looked into the fog.
Well, he seemed to have won…
"Wow, you still had some electricity left? It was weak, barely tickled. Why didn't you try that-" Kaminari froze in fear as Bateson walked into his field of vision unscathed. Bateson looked at him before he snickered. His snicker turned to a chuckle before full blown laughter.
"I should have known! There were rumors about some lousy washers around, but it never occurred to me that the fabled Omnitrix was in use! Even better, it's in the hands of a primitive human! How amusing!" He cheered before looking at Kaminari who was slowly retreating in fear.
"Well, well now. I'm honored to be in the presence of the mythical wielder of the most powerful weapon in the universe. But I do wonder…" Kaminari had tuned out most of what he said. Bateson towered over him and he seemed to grow more psychotic and wild.
"How do you taste.." And with that, Kaminari decided that wasn't the time to be there. He scrambled up and bolted down the tunnel and ran. He heard Bateson cheer and he felt a small rumble echo in the cave. He looked behind him to see the eldritch-like horror of tendrils scramble across the floors and walls towards him.
He turned and ran as fast as he could. And what did he do when he reached the end of the tunneled base?
He kept running.
His legs carried him as fast as he could. He heard the cracking of wood, the cries of pain as a mad cackle rang in his ears. He looked behind him as something black shot past him. He didn't even process what happened before it exploded in front of him. It didn't take off any of his limbs but it knocked him down. He quickly looked up to see Bateson rapidly approaching him. He yelped and scrambled to his left and bolted down an alley.
Ok, so he had bombs!? When!? He was pretty sure all he had was those plant bulbs- He was throwing exploding plants wasn't he?
Oh god, he couldn't fight. His quirk couldn't work against him, Ampfibian and Feedback kinda share his quirk so they wouldn't work. He could regenerate faster than what XLR8 or Kickin Hawk could do for damage, and Upgrade needs tech to be useful. And Crashopper and Spidermonkey were something he doubted would even work.
He ran without thought, he was just Bateson's prey at that point.
It was the first time he took the opportunity to see where he was running around, noticing the stalls of sellers in fear at what was happening and seeing the slow moving river to his side. Fear was swelling up in his stomach as he realized where he was.
He made a sharp turn and ducked behind some stacked boxes, waiting as the sound of tendrils snapping around as the laughter died down. He held a hand to his mouth and quietly waited for him to pass him, hoping he managed to lose him.
He heard vines whip around as he scuttled past him with decreasing speed. He felt his heart pound in his chest as he heard him stop near him. He waited and prayed that he wouldn't time in and alert him where he was. He seemed to stop for a bit as screams rang in his ears in the distance. Guilt swelled as Bateson moved on, having lost Kaminari finally. He slowly got up and began to creep towards the one place where he knew he could be safe.
He silently crept to Eric and Glenn's home as the sounds of destruction and cries rang in his ears as Bateson went on a path of destruction. In the chaos of the citizens scambering for cover or protection from his war path, Kaminari used it as cover to leave. He approached the house and grabbed the handle and jiggled it.
It was locked.
"Oh no, please open. Please guys be home…" He pounded on the door while trying the handle again. He wanted to get out, or in with this case.
"Kaminari? What are you doing?" He stopped and turned with fear. Behind him, Eric was there with Mura holding his hand. He appeared concerned over the current situation and Mura looked terrified of what was happening.
Reasonable if a giant flytrap was going on a rampage.
"Haha, it's a funny story…" He trailed off.
"Funny indeed!" A voice rang from above. Kaminari's blood ran cold as he, Eric and Mura looked up to see Bateson lower himself in front of them. Eric and Mura moved to Kaminari with caution as Bateson looked at them with a sneer.
"Kaminari! Why is one of the Carpenter leaders here!? Is this why you asked for information on them!?" Eric yelled at him. Kaminari took a step back in defense as Bateson cackled.
"This is too good. You lead me to some traitors huh? Well we planned to eventually get rid of them, being you were a former washer." Bateson mocked as he inched closer. Eric growled as he put himself between Bateson and Mura.
"Don't you dare call the Plumber's by that name. They were more honorable than you, scum." Eric's words dripped venom from an underlying tone of hatred. Kaminari now was feeling mixed feelings on which plant he should be scared of now. Between the murderous flytrap or the now infuriated flower he didn't know.
"Hmph! I guess you Methanosians would know what scum is. Given you smell like it." He taunted. Eric growled at his insult. He held his hand back at Mura, who looked at him confused.
"Stay with him." He looked at Kaminari, who was catching his goal.
"You're not serious about fighting him? Are you?" He asked him.
"Yeah. You don't seem to have done anything. I may be rusty with fighting but I'm not going to stand here after he insulted and threatened my family. So can you protect her, Kaminari?" Eric asked him, lacking the animosity he had only a moment prior. Kaminari nodded to his friend's question. A chuckle came from Bateson that directed their attention to him.
"Kaminari? That's your name? Oh man, this is going to be fun!" He smiled with a sadistic nature before Eric bolted forward, fists clenched.
"I'm your opponent now, you overgrown weed!" Eric yelled before he tackled Bateson. Kaminari watched as the two tangled. Eric threw punches that were a little more defined than ones he threw outside of Kickin Hawk, but they were still a little sloppy in the sense of lack of practice. Bateson fought by using his tendrils to his advantage, whipping them at him and wrapping them around his limbs to restrain him. Kaminari shook his head to look away from the fight, turned to Mura and went to her, keeping his arms out instinctively.
He wrapped his arms around her and picked her up. He looked around where he could run too as Eric and Bateson fought. He looked at their home and gulped. He was going to do something dumb no doubt. He began to bang his body on the door in an attempt to break it down and hide inside.
"What are you doing?" Mura mumbled in his arms. He stopped hitting the door and looked down at her. She seemed stoic but heart broken. It hurt him slightly to see her playful expression be so somber now.
"I'm trying to get inside to hide…" He said in a panic. He glanced at the window and thought about breaking and hopping inside.
He looked back at the rumbles as Bateson threw one of his explosives at Eric, blasting him back. Kaminari briefly remembered all the gas inside the building and how it could be very annoying if he threw one into the building.
Also the sharp glass. He didn't want that going into his body.
"Why don't you help him?" Kaminari looked down at her confused. Was she asking for him to help fight Bateson?
"Hey uh, Mura. I can't really help your dad… My quirk doesn't work against him and the Omnitrix is still timed out. There isn't anything I can do..." He admitted shamefully.
"But aren't you a hero? You're supposed to try and save the day, right?" She asked. His mind wandered to what she was exactly asking before it clicked. She was talking about All Might or just pros in general right?
"Mura, I'm not a hero yet. I'm just a student. I can't help him with this." He pleaded with her. She shook her head and gripped his shirt harder.
"Please… just help him." She mumbled. His heart shattered in two with that. He was swelled with guilt from that moment, and looked back at the fight. Eric was on the losing side as Bateson was dealing blows without fail.
But he was too weak to help now.
Then be my human stun gun!
He blinked for a second as that memory surfaced. Why did he think about Jirou's words right now? This was one hundred percent not the time to be diving down memory lane.
Unless, there was a reason for that thought. When she said that, he didn't think he could help but that was wrong. He did actually have the ability to help there, so maybe he could now?
He glanced around, for anything he could use to help him. Uh, there weren't any weapons or anything reasonable he could try. He set her down and turned around, looking again.
"Just do what you can.. Please." She told him. He looked at her and nodded. Well, he might need inspiration for this. So what would Jirou do?
Well, he would guess she wouldn't back down so he might have that covered.
And now what would Kirishima and Sero do? Well, Kirishima would likely do the same and be manly. He sighed and puffed up his chest and took a fighting stance. Ok, so now he has what Kirishima would do. Sero would probably do a quip so he would probably need to try that more.
And what would All Might do? Well… inspire. He helped people not have fear with his smile and catchphrase.
So that's what he needed now. Fighting spirit, courage, inspiration and light hearted nature.
Maybe a catch phrase too. He looked back at Mura and smiled at her with a thumbs up.
"I got this now." He told her, and she smiled. His heart felt elevated now and he felt more confident. He heard a chime from the Omnitrix and looked at it, seeing it charged. He smirked and looked at the current fight. Eric had clearly lost now, with him on the ground and Bateson was moving forward to finish it.
He opened the dial and looked at his roster. With his epiphany, he had a new found sense of confidence with his roster. But he wasn't going to try them. He moved to a new alien, one where he had a burning sensation for victory. He ran forward, with the core popping up.
It was time… He was going to win round two. Bateson took note of his charge and threw his arm out to grab his legs. Kaminari jumped up, sailing over the legs with strange amounts of finesse. His passion was burning intensely but he drifted off to the early thought of his catchphrase.
What could it be? Probably something that fits with his aesthetic. He needed to be Mura's hero, and the watch on his wrist gave him an idea.
"IT'S HERO TIME!" He cried out, slamming down on the core of the Omnitrix, engulfing the area in a yellow flash.
Grass rapidly grew along his skin, even increasing his height with planty flesh. His bones changed to twisting vines as his blood thinned to gas. He flicked his hair up as it changed to red and yellow petals. Frills appeared on his arms, shoulders and legs. Finally, the Omnitrix appeared on his stomach, signifying the end of his transformation.
He wasted no time at all and punched Bateson with his momentum, sending him flying into the buildings on the other side of the street. He looked at his form and smiled. He leaned down and helped Eric up.
"You ok?" Kaminari said in a nasally gruff voice. Eric looked up at him weakly and was in shock for a moment before he smirked.
"Who knew you could become a Methanosian? Makes me feel honored." He mumbled. The two stood up as Bateson got up.
"Two of you now? Hpmh, that doesn't matter much." He confidently said. Kaminari smirked and raised his fists.
"Well, I got this new form. Let's take care of the weeds." He joked. Bateson glared.
"Weeds? You're far below me kid. Don't flatter yourself." He insulted. Kaminari taunted him with an invitation to come closer and Bateson wiped out an arm to hit Kaminari. He managed to catch it before it could, however and held Bateson in place.
Well, time to take a page out of Midoriya's book.
He turned on his heel, and brought the arm up over his head. And like a mighty axe, he slammed down with all his might, crashing Bateson into the pavement with a sickening crack.
"Holy… Kid, you're strong… even by Methanosian standards." Eric commented. Kaminari glanced back for a brief moment before looking back at the psychotic villain. He noticed Bateson was starting to get up and look towards Mura's direction. Kaminari tensed and ran forward before what he thought would happen could occur.
He jumped up and brought his elbow out, bringing it down on him. Kaminari managed to recover before he could so he picked him up and threw him again, this time towards the stands that lined the streets, sending him crashing through them.
"Kaminari!" He looked behind him and saw Eric, who had Mura in his arms now.
"What?" He replied.
"I'm too out of practice to do it, but use your actual abilities against him!" He shouted. Kaminari looked at him confused for a second and Eric noticed this.
"Like the plants inside, we generate methane. What do you know about it?" He yelled. Kaminari thought for a second as he looked at his hands, noticing they had thin circles in the center.
Wait, methane is flammable…
He smirked and looked at Eric. "Anything else?" He asked.
"You can make seeds and control plants you make, and other plants with gas." Kaminari nodded. He closed his fist and concentrated for a second. He opened them again and 3 seeds appeared in his palm. He looked at Bateson who was recovering with seething rage. He smirked as he threw the seeds and they burrowed into the ground. Shortly after, the ground rumbled as three vines began to wrap around Bateson, who struggled to escape their grasp.
Ok, this might be one of, if not his favorite transformation so far.
He took a pitching stance as he felt a click in his hands and they grew warmer. His hands began to brighten as a ball of fire started to form in between his hands. Bateson looked at him in fear as Kaminari brought his leg up.
"BATTER UP!" He yelled as he threw his fireball. It streaked across the street until it collided in a small and fiery explosion on Bateson. He stood, looking at the burning pile of wood and watched as his vines burned away.
"Did he get him?" Mura asked.
The ground rumbled as a surge of vines rapidly approached Kaminari, but he stood still. He brought his hand up and fire sprayed from his palm like a flamethrower. The vines turned to ash as Bateson, slowly regenerating and burning, walked from the smoke and collapsed. Kaminari walked over to him and stood over him, who looked at him in spite.
"So, did I win?" He asked him. Bateson grumbled before he replied.
"Yes… I yield…" He sighed. Kaminari nodded and stood tall over him, before he dropped a couple seeds on the ground around him, creating a restrictive binding that kept him from moving. He stood and turned to Eric and Mura, giving them a smile and thumbs up.
"Dad, he can turn into us!" Mura commented. Eric was lost in thought, smiling without purpose.
"Yeah… Thank you, Kaminari but you have a long way to go for sure." He mumbled under his breath.
