"So, she does speak. Two days and all I've gotten is small talk and weird looks." The Faunus said.
Lapis glared at him then sighed. "Have you heard of the White Fang, Sun?"
"What Faunus hasn't heard of them? 'Holier-than-thou' creeps that take whatever they want. Freaks, if you ask me."
"...I used to be one of them."
Surprised, Sun choked a bit on his tea. "You?"
Lapis nodded. "Yeah. When I was ten, my parents were killed by Grimm. Kali and Ghira Belladonna took me in as their adopted daughter when I was twelve, around the time their daughter Blake became the High Leader of the Fang. When my village Denn was slaughtered by Grimm, Blake reached out to me and offered me a place in the White Fang. Against her parents' wishes, I joined the White Fang. I was impressed by how much Blake had increased their numbers, but then I realized people were beginning to fear the Faunus. So, I left and chose to follow in my parents' footsteps and become a Huntress. And now, I'm here. a criminal hiding in plain sight, thanks to a helmet with attached wolf ears." She said.
"Do you friends know any of this?"
Lapis looked down.
"Lapis!" Simin called.
"Come on, Lapis! This isn't funny anymore!" Vella said.
"What's going on?" Penny asked and everyone turned to her.
"We're looking for Lapis, a member of Simin's team." Mercury said.
"The Faunus girl." Penny said.
"How'd you know about that?" Cinder asked.
"The wolf ears." Penny said like it was an obvious sight.
"Those ears are part of...her helmet..." Emerald said.
"Certainly explains why she likes chicken a lot." Ragora whispered to her teammates
"Where is she?"
"She's been missing since Friday, so we're not sure." Simin said.
"We'll find her." Penny said.
"'We'?" Vella asked.
"I'll help you guys."
Lapis and Sun were soon walking around Vale.
"What's the plan?" He asked.
"I still think the Black Rose are behind these robberies. Blake's never needed this much Dust before." She replied.
"What if they did?"
"What do you mean?" She looked at him.
"I mean, if we go to the place they'd be likely to go to and not find them there, we'd know they didn't do it."
"Small problem. I don't know where that is."
"Well, back on the ship, some guys were talking about offloading a huge shipment of Dust from Atlas."
"How huge?"
"A big Schnee Company freighter."
"Then we go to the docks tonight."
"So, why did Lapis take off?" Penny asked.
"She and I didn't back down from our argument and we found out a little bit about her past, including the fact that she's a Faunus. but she left before we could say anything else to her." Emerald said. "I blame myself for her running away like that."
"Em, Neo's already said you shouldn't do that." Cinder said.
"But I'm the one who shot my mouth off about the Faunus when I shouldn't have."
"I don't have a lot of friends besides you guys, but I'd want them to talk to me about things."
"Same here." Vella said.
That night, Lapis was at the docks, watching the shipment when Sun appeared.
"Anything happen?" He asked.
"No. They just offloaded all the Dust. Now they're sitting here."
"Well, in the meantime, I stole us some food."
"You always break the law with no hesitation?"
"Weren't you in a cult?"
She glared at him.
"Sorry." He said as a Bullhead passed them. They looked closely and saw White Fang soldiers disembark. "That them?"
Lapis sighed. "That's them, all right."
"You sound disappointed."
"I guess I am. Deep down, I knew they were involved. I just didn't want to admit it."
The two then saw Roman and Pyrrha walking out, as well as other members of the Black Rose. Roman was dressed in his normal look, but Pyrrha was wearing a red catsuit and a red ski mask.
"We're not exactly inconspicuous, so let's move!" Roman said.
"This is wrong. The White Fang wouldn't work with humans. Especially the Black Rose." Lapis said as she stood up then she drew her sword.
Before Sun could stop her, Lapis moved to sneak behind Torchwick and when she was close enough, she held Blood Blade to his throat as the soldiers and Pyrrha aimed at her. She took a chance and removed her helmet to expose her ears.
"Brothers and sisters of the White Fang! Why are you aiding scum like the Black Rose?" She asked, causing the soldiers to lower their weapons.
"Guess you didn't get the memo." Roman said.
"What are you talking about?"
"The White Fang and the Black Rose are going in on a big business venture together."
"Tell me more or I'm gonna end this little operation."
Two more Bullheads arrived at their location.
"It's not a little operation." He told her.
She looked up and saw members of the Burning Suns jump down and aim weapons at Lapis. Jaune, Nora, and Ren landed beside Pyrrha, wearing similar suits, only Nora's mask was pink and her suit was black and Ren's mask was black and his suit was more of a male soldier's stealth suit in green. Jaune's was similar to Ren's suit but in blue and the mask was identical to Ren's.
"The...Burning Suns?" Lapis thought aloud.
Roman smirked and blasted Lapis away from him.
The explosion caught the attention of Team CMSN, Team SLVR, and Penny.
"That could be trouble." Emerald said.
"Lapis?" Ragora asked.
"One way to find out. Let's go!" Simin said then they all ran to the docks.
Lapis put her helmet back on then took on Team JNPR by herself while Sun pulled out a staff and fought the White Fang, the Black Rose, and the Burning Suns.
Nearby were Team CMSN, Team SLVR, and Penny.
"Simin, you and your teammates help Lapis. My teammates and I will back up that Faunus." Cinder said.
"Got it." Simin said then the two teams ran to battle. Penny saw Torchwick and frowned.
Lapis was on her back with Nora about to finish her off, but a glaive blade stopped Magnhild and Lapis looked to see her teammates. Simin was fight Ren and Vella was fighting Jaune. Ragora pushed Nora back from Lapis then helped her up.
"Thanks." Lapis said.
"No problem." Ragora said then fought Nora.
Lapis turned to Pyrrha, who had Milo and Akouo drawn and ready.
"Red vs Blue? Quite an odd choice."
Pyrrha narrowed her eyes then the two clashed swords several times, occasionally using the muzzles on the ends of their hilts to fire bullets.
Cinder and her team were fighting like a well oiled machine beside Sun.
"You guys are really good!" Sun said as he used his staff as nunchaku-shotguns
"Thanks, man!" Mercury said.
"You're no slouch yourself!" Emerald said.
Neo was living up to her reputation as a fighter as she handled the thugs.
While fighting, Cinder noticed Penny going towards Roman.
Roman and several of the White Fang, Black Rose, and Burning Suns were loading up Dust when Penny walked up from behind. "I must ask that you return the Dust." She said and they turned to her.
"Penny, get out of there!" Cinder said and many eyes turned to her.
"Don't worry about me, Cinder!" She said. "I'm combat ready!"
A backpack opened up and ten swords came out of the backpack. Everyone watched in amazement as Penny fought the thugs and prevented them from stealing the Dust, causing Roman, Team JNPR, and their henchmen to retreat.
After the fight, Emerald looked at Lapis. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said what I said."
"It's okay. I'm sorry I kept it from you guys. You're my friends and I should've trusted you. I just want you guys to know I'm no longer associated with them." Lapis said. "I promise next time something like this pops up, I'll come to you guys."
They all smiled and nodded then with the exception of Penny, they went back to Beacon.
At the warehouse that served as the Black Rose Vale base of operations, Roman grumbled to himself.
Team RWBY and Team JNPR approached him and he turned to them.
"You're trying my patience, Torchwick." Ruby said, dangerously calm.
"Hey, your little buddies here were with me!" He said, pointing at JNPR. "Why aren't they getting scolded?"
"Because we weren't leading the operation, Roman." Pyrrha said.
"You were." Nora said.
Roman sneered at them.
"One. Last. Chance. Torchwick." Ruby said. "That's all you get. After that, your life will become a living hell. If you think I was mad about the night Cinder became a problem, imagine how mad I'll be if she and her little friends become a bigger headache than they already are."
Roman gulped and was sweating a little when he saw Crescent Rose unfolded in her hands and no emotion on her face.
